i had mehdi for bio 101 and anatomy and physiology. he had been one of my favorite teachers. he isn't above joking around with his students but he is very good at explaining things. you don't really need a text book because he he tests straight from his lectures and he is very clear in what you will need to know for tests and quizezs. he is great!
Good overall teacher. He knows what he is talking about and has a sense of humor.
He always has a smile on his face and brings happiness to the classroom. It makes learning easier that way. He's got a great sense of humor. His A&P class isn't difficult. A fair warning:if you are already in a health care career or are knowledgeable with A&P; don't act like you know it all. He will NOT like you. Joke with him and he will love you.
Mehdi Borhan is a very expressive and fun teacher. He will keep you interested. Stay for the labs and study the models to do well on the lab tests. He has a charming accent. If you don't understand something tell him and he will repeat it or use a different word, but he speaks very good english.
Mehdi is an overall good teacher. You take all notes from his verbal explanation. The information isn't easy, but if you study his notes well, you can ace his tests with little/no problem. At times can get hot-headed when it comes to asking him questions, I would rate his professionalism lower than normal. Does have sense of humor most times.
To put it simply, he is a teacher who loves to teach! And takes personal interest in how well you are doing in his class. As long as you show effort, and your focus is on learning the stuff and not of making a grade. His classes will be a breeze.
Fun class. A lot of study time required but doable
Was a very difficult course especially to take over summer school. Unless you can spend all day, everyday studying give yourself a full semester to take it. For example you have a test every week. One test consisted of all of the muscles in the body, all bones, all bone markings, and all parts of the skull. we had one week to know it. Good Luck!
Mehdi is great. He truly cares about his students. It is one of the best classes Ive ever had!!
I really liked Mehdi as a teacher. His accent is a little hard to get used to at first, but he is funny and will do ANYTHING to help you. This class requires a lot of studying and memorizing, but Mehdi gives you plenty of class time to study. He's so great! If you're interested in healthcare, there isn't a better anatomy teacher out there.
Not the fairest teacher. Has his favorite students. He's Unorganized. Will shout at you. Shouts a lot. He is almost impossible to understand due to his accent. Tests come straight from his lectures. Good luck understanding his lectures though. It is a plus if you are a KU fan. Don't tell him if you like MU.
Mehdi was a great teacher, very helpful, if you study you will do great!! This class is not easy, lots of memorization, and alot of info!! All test were from his notes, no textbook needed, I don't think I used it at all!! He does have an accent but if you didn't understand him, just ask and he will repeat it.
Mehdi was a great teacher, very helpful, if you study you will do great!! This class is not easy, lots of memorization, and alot of info!! I took anatomy in the Fall of 09'. There is a lot of information to learn and this class requires a ton of studying. He is very helpful and even will show up on weekends to help you in the lab. He does have an accent but it doesn't impair communication or teaching. As long as you are motivated and have study skills an "A" is achievable.
Please do not take him. There are way better professors out there and you don't need to waste your time with him. He is a tenured professor and there is nothing you can do to change him. Class is hard, he acts like it's a senior class when in reality is a 101 (beginner class.) DO NOT TAKE HIM, DROP HIM IF YOU HAVE REGISTERED FOR HIS CLASS.
Hard professor. Looks at you like you are stupid if you don't understand him. Hard notes. Tests are hard and require lots of studying time with no review from the professor. No real help from the professor, he will just tell you to study everything. homework are easy but he doesn't grade them faster them a 1 and 1/2 months. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Not a good overall teacher. He knows what he is talking about but does not teach good. Horrible sense of humor, harsh at times. Hard class filled with 6 tests, one comprehensive final, 2 lab tests. No review sheets or review from him. I would not suggest you to take him. Overall not good.
Should no longer be allowed to teach BIO 101 or any other class. He is the worst professor ever, has great knowledge in the subject but lacks teaching skills.
Mehdi is an awesome teacher. I have taken Bio 101, 109 and now I am taking 110 all with him because he is by far my favorite teacher at Blue River. His accent is not a problem after the first 5 minutes. As long as you pay attention it is totally possible to get an A.
I've taken his class for Bio 110 and am now in his BIO 109 class, and he has been my favorite teacher through my almost 3 years of college so far. Yes, he is a difficult teacher, but he gives you all the information that you need for his tests. If you have a question in his class, he is more than happy to answer you and when he lectures he goes s
My problem was not Mehdi, but the subject! Mehdi is a great teacher and he definitely knows his subject. I took anatomy to fulfill my biology requirement, but I wish I would have taken a different biology class with him...I think I would have liked it a lot better!
Mehdi is an excellent teacher! He has a great sense of humor and really keeps the class interesting. He knows his stuff! He is by far one of my favorite teachers I've had in college so far. His exams come straight from his lecture so pay attention and take good notes. Know the models well. He really does not try to make the class too difficult. I believe I will receive an A! Oh, one other thing... NEVER TOUCH THE COURSE ADJ KNOB ON THE MICROSCOPE WITH ANYTHING BUT 4X IN PLACE. He'll get you. ;)
offers extra credit seminars and drops lowest test grade. tests over notes. very funny teacher. :)
I really enjoyed his class! I am not good at all with Science and I took his A&P class and finished with an A. His test our from your notes all you have to do is pay attention and study and you will do good. He's very funny and makes class very interesting. I would take him for every science class if I could!
While he is a very funny teacher, he kills you with tests. We are at the end of the semester and Th I had a lab test, Tu I have a regular test and I still have a final. I do not recomend if you are taking other classes, he may spoon feed you notes, but he also expects you to study 20 hours a week. I wouldn't be caught in his class again.
He says he makes his tests straight from the notes but I study my notes backwards and forwards and still get low scores. Its nice he doesn't require use of the book so that saves money but I feel like I'm also not getting as much from the class. He also kinda acts like he knows everything but I find some of what he says to be wrong or misleading.
This professor and class were very disappointing. He is very difficult and unclear about assignments, tests, and the notes. He says that the tests come straight from the notes but this is completely false. I would not recommend him or this class. I am an A student and because of his teaching methods he makes it difficult to do well.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! i would never recommend this teacher to anyone. He doesn't go by the book but tells everyone to read it 3 times. Very Rude, believes if you can comprehend what he's teaching your stupid. His test are insane he just makes them up that morning and doesn't have it made off your notes because he has NO notes due to he makes them up
This man is very interesting. That being said he is very pompous and hard to understand at times.I have aced bio 110, 132, 208 and 210, I know my biology and teachers. If he was wrong about anything it took an act of god for him to acknowledge it, let alone correct it. Passing this class is more than possible just do not question him attend class!
(Environmental Science) He's a hard teacher and many personalities clash with his, but if you are truly there to learn and care about the subject you will get along with him just fine. He can seem a little intimidating, but he's a great guy if you give him a chance and don't disrespect him.
Mehdi was AWFUL. He throws tests together last minute, rants during lecture, and when you would ask him questions, he would act like you were a complete idiot and degrade you. Do not take him! I liked him as a person, but he was a terrible, and unorganized professor. VERY disappointed!
I liked Mehdi as a person. He was friendly and a very kind person. But he hardly prepared us for tests and was not very good at explaining material. He often did not use the book either, so that was no help. He ranted forever during lectures and we got nothing done. We wasted too much time on pointless labs.
As a person, I like him, as a teacher: terrible. You cant understand what he is saying half of the time. We NEVER used the book which I paid $270 for. If you ask a question his answer was always I don't know. I would not recommend him. He IS funny though and makes some things interesting. Very challenging class though.
he is a very nice as a PERSON but very bad at teaching. He makes you feel dumb when you ask a question an then he won't even answer your question. I'm great at biology but he made it very very hard to learn.
I didn't open the textbook once & u can always borrow someones notes if ur gone so u don't need 1. Tests come straight from the notes, although they r worded a little differently. He basically tells you exactly what to write at a reasonable pace 4 the notes 2. PAY ATTENTION TO THE LABS--u r tested on them 2!!! Easy 2 get a B, hard to get an A.
He was FASCINATING. He is very smart and sure, he is a little standoffish but if you want someone who knows what hes talking about, TAKE HIS CLASS. He is bad with posting grades but gives you every opportunity to keep track of your own grade. He doesnt babysit you and went straight from the book. If you show up to class youre gonna learn.
Medhi was an excellent teacher. I absolutely loved his Summer Anatomy course. He made notes super easy and never gave pop quizes. He gave us exactly what we needed to know in his little lab note packets. He was very clear of what he wanted you to learn in his class. If he writes it on the board ITS VERY IMPORTANT. He's kinda bad at spelling tho.
He's a good teacher. Play around a lot but get the job done. Don't get to his bad side you will be fine. Don't really need the book save your money on some other things. Take your time to study his test isn't hard.
Mehdi was great. Clearly, he's very passionate about his subject, and it shows in his lectures. He's very excitable, and is prone to going off on entertaining if not somewhat irrelevant, tangents throughout his lectures. He was very fun and informative, and as long as you took notes and studied after each class, you'll get a good grade. Take him!
Definitely an awesome teacher! Very intelligent man.
Mehdi is a great teacher, he really cares about the students and how well they actually retain the information. You will have to study, but if you study his notes from his lecture you will do great on the test. Mostly multiple choice tests, but will have a lab as well. Awesome teacher, I would choose him to be my teacher for the rest of my career!
Really nice guy. Very knowledgeable, his tests are pretty much straight from the notes. Doesn't hurt to read the book before class, the course takes a pretty quick pace. Overall, would take another of his classes, very nice and easy to approach for help.
Math and Science in an 8-week summer semester was murder on me but Mehdi was a delight. Don't miss class or leave early. Study his book and notes DAILY. I underestimated how much studying I'd need. Most inspiring prof at Blue River. Huge heart. Give respect and you'll get it back. I learned so much that my CPhT CE's were easier. Great class.
I took Mehdi's summer class, and even though I gave up my summer he made it worth it. Mehdi really cares that his students do well, and will tell you all the time that you need to do what has to be done. Most of his tests are average difficulty. Be in class, and really study the lab manual he gives you. It has everything you need to pass the class.
I have had Mehdi for two different classes. Bio 101 and A&P. I found his classes amazing. I am now a science teacher myself at a secondary school and refer back to many things he taught me. Prepare to study and ask for clarity on things you do not understand. I once argued a question on the test and he did change my score.
Mehdi tries to be cool with his students and joke and have fun which he is probably a great person, but he doesn't explain things well and when you ask for help he tells you to refer to the book even after telling him you already have. then gets frustrated like you shouldn't be asking questions.
He's a nice guy but he does have a little bit of an accent but is easy to understand. He gave us a total of 5 tests for the whole semester but doesn't use any type of study guide. The test questions come straight from his lectures.
Mehdi was the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. He ranted about random things that had nothing to with our tests. His tests were insanely hard which would be fine if he actually taught the material, but he doesn't. he expects you to teach yourself without any explanation what so ever. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Hes a good teacher and knows what hes talking about. You have to study a lot for this class.
Mehdi is a funny guy and he seems like a great person but, the way he teaches just didn't work for me. I've had a very hard time in his class. He doesn't give study guides, and for our final he just told us to look over our notes (180 sheets). I know I will not remember all of that. I wish I would have taken this course with someone else.
Mehdi is one of my favorite teachers. He is difficult to understand at first but it gets easier to understand him after a few days. He does not do study guides, so be prepared to read. If he repeats anything... It's in the test. Take good notes of lectures and use as study guide.
Very hard class but very interesting. He is a genius but he expects u to remember so much more than u are being tested on. I wouldn't take him again EVER.
Beware of Borhan. He bases grades in class off of solely tests. There is little room to make up any errors. He struggles to change up his teaching style when questioned and belittles those that do ask questions. Want to point out that he graded you incorrectly on a question for a test? Too bad, it will still count against you. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
His teaching style was no good for me. I fell asleep in his class nearly every time it met and I never usually have that problem. You're graded almost entirely on tests. There have been 2 ten point assignments and that's it. He doesn't seem to understand that not everyone can study and learn like him. Worst experience ever.
Don't skip class or you are screwed. He gives no study guides for the tests, so you basically have to memorize all of the notes you take in class. He also gets off topic a lot in class. If you are going to take this class make sure you are prepared for it.
I enjoyed the course material, just not a huge fan of Mehdi's teaching style. Must take good notes to do well on test. He is arrogant, so I learned quickly, to keep to myself. His accent can be difficult to understand. There was no homework, besides studying. I almost wish there was more work, for more practice and better understanding.
Awful. Do. Not. Take.
Human Anatomy is not the easy class I expected. Do not miss a moment of it. He fills each second. Focus on lectures, take notes you will understand later, read and comprehend all the associated text sections (don't rely on lectures alone), go over EVERY note daily because repetition solidifies, eat and rest well. Hardest class. Most inspiring prof.
This class is tougher than you think when you hear, "human anatomy." Don't miss class. Lecture heavy, follow up with reading text, take good notes, and study everything daily. Not kidding. No study guides, no prizes for doing what you must. Prof is inspiring/motivational, but student bears responsibility for grade. Take no add'l rigorous classes.
After being out of school for 16 years I was nervous to go back!! Anatomy is HARD! But, Mehdi is awesome. He made my first semester back a memorable one! Take notes, stay for lab the entire time, study your notes and you will be fine. Its not easy and he tells you that from the begining. It takes WORK. He gives amazing lectures. Love him!!
Very political. If he doesn't personally like you then you have to work very hard to just pass. He's hard to understand. Also, tries to me personable and tell you if you need absolutely anything but when you ask he tells you it's in the book. WOULD. NOT. RECOMMEND.
Mehdi was one of those teachers that makes you work for it. That wasn't to say his class was bad, on the contrary, it was one of the best educational experiences I have ever had. The material was hard, but he lays it all out for you in great detail. His lectures were interrupted by amazing motivational speeches that inspired you to keep going.
Mr. Borhan is a great guy who I loved listening and talking to. He however did not really teach this class. You are expected to teach yourself the chapter and all the flashcards. He does NOT go over any of the chapt. materials. This class met once a week with a 20 question quiz each class and then a 65 question final. Each test was multi choice.
I took this class in the summer. If you have never taken Medical Terminology or a beginning anatomy class, You are in trouble. He learns at a fast pace so he expects others to as well. He had 5 tests in an 8 week course plus a final. You have to earn your grade, he doesn't teach you. You teach yourself. He doesn't walk around the room & rants a lot
He's hard to understand but he knows a lot. Everything you need in order to pass this class is in the lab manual. Study and learn it and you'll do well!
He explains complex concepts really easily and his exams are directly from the notes. He doesn't post his notes online so make sure to go to class. A lot of people complained that he didn't really teach, but anatomy is mostly memorization so if you used your time wisely, you'll do well. He is really funny and cares about you! Very inspirational!
Lecture heavy. Cares about his students. Grades are pretty much based off of test scores.
If you are good at taking notes, tests, and remembering an entire month of work in 50 questions, this class is for you. You don't use your book. His teaching style is very hard to follow, what he teaches isn't on the tests. If he tells you not to write something down, write it down. If he jokes about something. Write it down. Would not take again.
You have to study, is a lot of memorization, if you do not feel like learning and you do not have time, do not take this class, it's a difficult class, a lot of memorization He just gives you the material and you have to study on your own, and sacrifice a lot of your time if you want a good grade. Its simple He is the tool you chose how to use it.
If you have a job, kids, family, a life of any sort, do not take this class.
I studied hard but did not pay off, failed quizzes and test.
He gives out lecture, over the course of 2 weeks and only talks for maybe 30 mins. Then expects you to get out the hands on material and learn everything about with no help what so ever. On the test, the over 500 things you memorized for hands on, only about 20 are on the test. It's too hard to study with no help, there is no way to pass the class.
Would never ever recommend this teacher to anyone. He expects you to already know what he is teaching about, and dont NOT help you with labs or preparation for a test.
I have found almost every course I've taken in college to be easy and received an A or high B. Mehdi is fun and I like him as a person, but he's not a good teacher. You have to learn everything on your own and tests are very difficult and the only points in the class. Out of 30 students maybe 7 made it through the course without dropping.
He gives you the information from lecture, but is all over the place. You must study on your own to learn information. My class had one assignment other than the 4 test we took. So there is not prep for what the test are. He has a heavy accent so while listening to lecture it is hard to understand clearly. He seems to be very smart.
Mehdi is a hard teacher, but he knows his stuff. Make sure you take notes during the lectures and study them! Never used the text book. Lab portion is self directed, but you are expected to know the material through self-study. Great personality. Overall he cares about his students, but this is not a class you can slack in and expect to pass.
Have to show up to pass but even showing up is not enough for him. Tests are ridiculous and asks questions on there that were never talked about in class or in the book you apparently don't need. He gets confused and gets mad easily. Contradicts himself with what the textbook says. Most worthless class I have ever taken, even worse than College 100
Him for three hours a day four days a week. Lectures were supposed to be 1 1/2 hours & the labs were supposed to be second half of class. We would get maybe a 10 min. break & then end up having a 3-hour total lecture. He called people out for questions that he encouraged them to ask & had an attitude. Gets off-topic & does not teach all test info.
Mehdi is an amazing teacher but jokes a lot. Don't take his jokes to heart! Took his time to explain the content of the subject. To pass, you have to attend classes and take notes and study them in depth. His tests come from his notes. Tests are almost weekly. I took the class in Summer 18 and we had 6 tests. Stay for your labs, Don't leave.
Each day was kind of a toss-up of whether he'd be nice to us or not? I would say, if you plan on being in class EVERY DAY, ON TIME, and on being fully engaged, then you're on the best track. It's still super hard though b/c your grade only comes from maybe 3 homework assignments and like 5 tests. He lectures, but not well. You have to work!!!!
Very tough but knows his stuff. Anatomy isnt an easy class so you have to put in work regardless. Hes very sarcastic and likes to joke around, dont be too sensitive about it. Ask for help, he will provide it. Always had 3-5 extra credit points per test. Work hard and youll be on his good side.
I've taken Mehdi for multiple classes; anatomy, nutrition and medical terminology. I think he's a great teacher. He can get off topic during lectures at time, but he knows what he's talking about when it comes to teaching. He cares about his students and is quite funny as well. Come to class, take good notes, study and you should do fine.
Mehdi is the most caring professor I've had. He loves his job and love coming to class and gets to really know his classmates. I did have to do quite a bit of studying for both classes I've taken, but just take really good notes during his lectures, study those, and you'll definitely pass! He is very personal and you'll really love his class.
I think Mehdi is a wonderful person, but he is not a very good professor. Almost every day, he lectured for the entirety of the three hour class. He did not teach out of the book, and we were required to basically teach ourselves the terms and functions on our own. I struggled to get through this class due to the lack of structure and help.
HORRIBLE!!! would not recommend, hard to understand, the test doesn't match his lectures and when you ask for help in the lab he basically tells you to figure it out your self. He tells you that most people don't pass his class, and when I finally dropped so I didn't receive an F there were about 10 people left in the class out of 28! not okay!
He lectures to whole time but gives no slides to go with his lectures. He then will test you with no study guide or idea what will be on the test. You have to go strictly of everything he says and he messes up a lot in his lectures. I really do not recommend him. If you take him be prepared for low grades.
Mehdi was a great teacher!! He has a great sense of humor. I would definitely take again!! His lectures were easy to follow, rarely gave pop quizzes, and test were not too bad. Definitely need to study and memorize a lot.
90% of Mehdi's class periods are him verbally overwhelming you with information. And it's not explained well. Organization is horrible. Moving from one topic, then randomly adding information about it in another lecture is senseless. He tests you over info from the wrong chapters. You cannot miss more than 3 days of this class. He WILL drop.
I think this professor is good at heart. But he is not meant to be lecturing a class. He often tells us the wrong information for notes, and sometimes it's only corrected because someone asks him what he said. The notes don't align with the tests like he claims. Being challenging is okay, unreasonable is not. Def don't recommend for a bio newbie.
Although I somehow got an A, it definitely wasn't because of his teaching. I honestly believe it was all from the help of God. This professor's teaching ability is the worst I have ever experienced. I taught myself the entire subject, but I still wasn't prepared for his random lab exams and irrelevant questions on tests. Don't take him. Period.
At the beginning of the semester I thought I was really going to enjoy this class. I was wrong. Making mistakes early in the semester will make getting an A near impossible without a flawless second 8 weeks. Goes off on tangents, and yells at students for... nothing. Would not recommend. Bad tests that do not follow notes. Bad
I have taken Mehdi for Human Anatomy and Nutrition. He is an interesting man! His classes are very lecture heavy. Take good notes and ask lots of questions if you don't understand! His tests are based purely on his lectures, but you can use the textbook for additional information! I would recommend Mehdi as he is very knowledgable.
Professor Borhan is very unorganized both in having his things together when he comes to class and with his lecture style. He is very hard to follow. He does not allow you to see what you got wrong on a test. He takes forever to grade things. He asks things he didn't include in the notes. Is not a good communicator.
Not the blow-off class you expect. Take notes you'll understand later. Read associated text. Study everything you've learned, daily. Study group helps. Conversations about information helps. You must make this class your girlfriend. Don't take another class while taking this one or you'll get a C like I did. If I retake, it will be with Mehdi.
Horribly rude. Cant teach to save his life. Have a computer problem? That sucks. Its going to be your problem and no one elses. Does not explain his lectures or notes well enough to understand it at all. Rules are different for everyone. He is just a terrible professor. Take someone else if at all possible.
TL;DR: Don't. Find a new professor. For a general biology class, he expects us to know everything, gets mad when we don't answer questions, gets even angrier when we ask questions. Any and all technology problems are the student's fault, even when it's his own doing. He goes off on tangents which make three hour long lectures even more confusing.
Terrible, terrible, terrible. He expects more than half of the class to drop before even half of the semester is up and they do. He does not teach in an organized manner whatsoever. I recommend NOT taking him.
It seems like a lot of students didnt like him, but they also werent the students scoring high on exams. If youre a good student and youre willing to put in the hours to study then Mehdi is absolutely a great professor. I loved his class. He goes very in depth and teaches concepts in an order that they make sense to the attentive student.
His accent was hard to get used to but the way he incorporated humor and real life examples into his teachings was fascinating. I would recommend this class to any nursing student and make sure you pay attention to all of the lectures and print the notes.
He is the worst professor I have ever had. Shares his opinions on things that are not important to the class and honestly just wrong. He does not teach, he just talks at you and then expects you to know everything about it for the test. He is not helpful and makes people feel stupid for asking questions. Cocky and doesn't care about his students
Once told us to throw something away then yelled at me when half of the class was asking what to do. He only showed half of the class to do with an onion. When I asked what part to peal he said he told me twice (lie) and when I told him he didn't tell me he insisted that I was denying him when the whole class was asking me as well. LOW tolerance!
This biology class was probably the hardest one I've ever taken! There are no study guides and when told to study our notes it doesn't seem to help. The tests don't reflect the lecture notes. We never used our book so don't bother with buying it. I think that Professor Mehdi is smart but he's very unorganized when it comes to note taking.
Mehdi can be intimidating at first. Jokes around a lot with the class. Overall is a pretty great professor. He has a heavy accent which can be tough during lecture and note taking because he tells you what to write for notes. Had to have him repeat things but he never got frustrated. Tests are HARD. Study. Very passionate about Science and Biology.
1100 outta my pocket to not have him as my professor and was worth every penny.
Terrible teacher I have ever had, no study guide, I never knew what to study, waste of my time and gas now I’ll retake this class with a teacher I know will teach me right
Terrible Professor, would NEVER take him as a teacher again. Gives NO STUDY GUIDES expects you to study 3 hours a night like you don't have anything better to do. Gives 0 assignments and only has a test grade. Lectures are very hard to understand and he gets very side tracked and can't stay on topic. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU NEED TO PASS!!!!!!!
Terrible, I had never had to drop a class before due to the teacher. No study guides. Study notes and the book is no help because he gives no direction and I don't know what to study. I studied a lot and didn't pass half the tests because I guess it was the wrong thing I was studying lol. Don't take this class if you want to pass!!!!
The only grade in this class is based on how well you do on the test and I studied, but apparently not the right things because he gave no direction at all. I have no idea why there are good reviews on here. No study guides either no nothing! Do not take if you have a life but if you don't go ahead!
Overall as a person I liked him, as a teacher absolutely not. I have never once failed or gotten anything below a B and this class wrecked me. Makes me feel so unmotivated/unworthy when I study 24/7 and still don't even pass the tests. Very unorganized, doesn't even know what day it is half the time. DO NOT TAKE!
He cares about his students but his strong personality is a bit much. He doesn't assign homework. Grades are solely on tests. Lectures consist of him giving definitions for you to memorize later. You have to google or YouTube later for a better understanding. Most of my classmates dropped the class.
I loved Mehdi, he was great to talk to. His class was very hard though. No homework, just graded on tests with no study guide, he prefers students to read the textbook chapters in order to study. He has high expectations of his students, but is a great person.
Borhan tried to be funny, but he provided no study guide, I had no idea what to study so I couldn't study, I was so lost. The lectures were long and all over the place. Also, no homework only tests and very few extra credit opportunities
If you are taking other classes do not take this class or professor, its mainly the professor not anatomy itself, anatomy is very hard but with this teacher I've never struggled more in a class. if your not willing to sit down and study 200 bones every night DONT TAKE THIS CLASS, I had to drop because it effected my mental health.
I enjoyed Mehdi's personality and his straightforwardness about the class. He would tell you exactly what to write down so that you could study the notes every day. However, you had to study completely in your own discipline. He didn't provide study guides and there was zero homework which made it difficult, and unclear on what was expected of you.
Good Luck.
Mehdi Borhan is one of my favorite professors I've had the chance to take classes with. He's a fair grader, excellent at guiding your comprehension, and very friendly. He'll have conversations with anyone about anything.
Mehdi is friendly, caring, and his lectures are a lot of fun. His syllabus is a dream come true without the 3 weekly assignments you get from other 5hr courses. There is a lot to study, but your future instructors/bosses won't accept "I don't know because it wasn't on the study guide." Sweat hard in training so you don't have to in nursing school.
Brags that only 70% of students pass, he's proud of that fact. Tells you that you need a textbook, but doesn't use textbook. Tests are only on his notes. During lectures he doesn't allow you to take notes, and yell's at you for doing so. Only allows you to look at the test afterwards, you are not allowed to take any notes on what you have missed.
One of the best teachers I've had. He truly cares about his students and wants all of them to succeed. Also has a great sense of humor. Test is strictly from notes. Just know your notes like the back of your hand, make sure you study the lab models, try your best to never miss a class and you are guaranteed an A. We didn't use the textbook either.
Mehdi is such a great person, but he can be extremely tough. I have never learned more in my life than I did in this past semester. This class is very tough but extremely worth it in the long run because of how much information you learn and how prepared you feel for the future. Don't leave the labs early, study and make sure to do extra credit!
Pros Professor Medhi is a VERY nice man There isn't any fluff assignments to his class Just lectures and Tests Cons Gets distracted easily, includes content on tests he didn't cover Tough grader make SURE you can point out where everything is on an anatomy model in person. Pictures don't cut it! Spend hours on this! This class will eat your life
Mehdi is one of my most favorite professors i've ever had. This class is no doubtable one of the most hardest classes you'll take but Mehdi provides all the information needed for his tests. Its all a matter of how much studying and memorizing you do. MEMORIZE YOUR NOTES! All tests are multiple choice but the model identification is not.
Initially, I found this teacher to be really difficult to work with! He was very demanding and truly expected the best in his students. It will feel overwhelming but find some time to study his material and you will probably need to learn some material on your own(YouTube). His Tests were only based on his lectures so PLEASE TAKE NOTES.
Mehdi's class is challenging, but engaging. Utilize unstuck study and focus on mastering the lecture notes - that's the key to success. It's worth the effort!
I do not recommend this professor. As a previous successful student, his teaching habits are hard to follow and almost impossible to succeed in. If you are taking more than one class I don't recommend this teacher, as you will be teaching and reviewing by yourself.
Everything mentioned in the lectures was on the exams, nothing we never talked about in lectures was ever on an exam. He allows you to work by yourself for lab time but can always ask questions if needed. He is knowledgable, but does carry a sense of humor with him. Lots of studying if you want to pass with an A, as it is with any professor.
