You can't find a more caring professor. Dr. Soyer was always making sure we understood the material and was willing to help out in any way he could. Probably one of the best online classes I've taken. He's got a real passion that he brings to the class.

Great teacher for Social Stats as it can be a tough class. Mehmet is great because he is understanding and kind and also allows you to use your notes for homework, quizzes and tests. Pretty lenient and helpful with all assignments.

Very easy professor. Very easy class. You are graded on participation in class, but he makes it fun. You have to read your textbook for online quiz each week. Homework is simple and straightforward. He is easy to get ahold of outside of class.

He assigns weekly assignments and discussions but they are not hard. He doesn't ever want you to miss an assignment so if you miss one just email him and he will open it back up for you. Super Chill. Text book was required but i only read the first chapter!

I would take the course again from him. The design of the course helped a lot for me to learn Stat. Especially, we were going to computer lab with professor and TA to run the SPSS like hands-on approach!

he is lectured based and can be hard to understand at times, but he posts his lectures and has all his test and exams and everything else on canvas so it makes it very easy to get things done, he does let you use your books with help for the quizzes because he wants you to learn not memorize which I really enjoy and appreciated.

Professor Soyer's lectures are always inclusive, and insightful especially because they include current topics. He wants to hear from you, why you think the way you do, and also keeps you on your toes and teaches ideas and history behind social inequality while incorporating current events.

This class is incredible if you want to have great discussions on sociological theory and how different topics affect our society. I learned so much I didnt know before coming into this class. I thought the weekly quizzes for this class were a bit difficult, as the answers weren't easy to find in the textbook and there wasn't always a quizlet. The weekly discussion posts and the four video reflection assignments weren't bad at all. The exams were easy as they were basically four long discussion posts. Nothing was harshly graded either.

If you have recently taken another STATS class this class will be incredibly easy for you. You probably wouldn't need to even buy the textbook and get along just fine. The hard part about the course is SPSS but it is fully explained in class.

After attending a few other schools, Dr. Soyer has become one of my favorite professors. He is a genuinely kind person who is determined that each of his students understands and passes his statistic classes. With his assistant he provides one-on-one help with problems in class, and can explain statistics in an easy to understand way.

I have actually taken several classes from Mehmet now, he's such a good teacher. He really cares about his students, makes sure the information is presented clearly, and delivers lectures in a fun cooperative way that I personally feel like I learn a lot more from.

He is a great professor, his method is for you to learn and not memorize which i really appreciate. One thing I wish he would've focused more on for the Research class is that he would've spent more time teaching us how to write a research paper and not lecture us about how to find research since we were the ones gathering research/doing studies.

Dr. Soyer is a solid teacher. It was important to be present for class because he took attendance nearly every day which factored into your final grade. He seems to genuinely care about his students' work. There were some instances when the topic he was explaining was unclear, but he is a good professor who wants to be sure you know the material.

Mehmet is an awesome professor. Zoom lecture once a week for an hour. Lectures were always interesting & engaging. No exams or quizzes, which was super nice. Each week you read the textbook chapter & do a discussion board post about the reading. There was an essay due almost every week, but they were short and graded super easily. Super good class.

Dr. Soyer is the best! There is an hour long lecture once a week, a discussion post once a week, and a minor essay once a week. The best part: no tests or final projects! The book is technically required, but it's pretty spendy and I managed just fine without it.

I took this class online and it was very, very easy. There were weekly discussion boards based on course material and occasional short papers. I got 100% on all of these assignments. No lectures, quizzes, or tests. There is a textbook connected to the course, but I only referenced it for the final paper. Pretty chill class and an easy A.

I took USU1010 with him as my professor and he's such a sweet guy. You can really tell he wants you to succeed. Although I didn't take his sociology class just taking connections made me want to take it.

So you can take it week by week. Sometimes it was hard to understand what he was teaching, but you could always refer to the textbook to get back on track

At first the assignments were confusing to me, but after messaging him, he replied immediately and helped me understand. Assignments consist of a discussion post and a few "Media Reflection" assignments where you connect the chapter to a movie/ad.
