The best prof I've had at this University. Genuinely cares about his students. Makes difficult topics easy. I struggled a bit with the material in the beginning. However ended up with a good grade in the course and that is 100% due to Shirazi.

Dr Shirazi dissolves the hard content of the course into bitesized bits that help us understand the course better. His notes are great. The assignments, midterm and quizzes are fair but can be challenging at times but in the end, it helped us prepare for the final exam. He is one the few amazing professors at UBCO. I hope he teaches many courses.

Dr. Mehran is incredibly kind, reasonable and fun. He is also very knowledgeable and serious at the same time which makes the class enjoyable. I also like the beautiful smile he always has on his face.

Class expectations could not be clearer, he tells you exactly what you need to do and learn to succeed in his class, problem is that what he tells you to do is a ton of work. Funny cool guy, this class is hard tho. Posts tons of supplementary YouTube videos that aren't "mandatory", but you better believe they are essential to passing the class.

He goes out of his way to ensure that everyone understands what is going on in the class and puts in the effort to get to know each student by name. Think of your kindergarten teacher who just sat there trying to teach you to read even though it was confusing but remained a sweet saint the whole time. That's how I felt learning calculus from this man. He really made us all love him and class. He is GREAT

His lectures are always made to teach us the concepts and keep us engaged with practice problems so we can ask questions as we learn it. Outside of class he puts in lots of work to give us more to use to improve our learning. While I have not personally used his office hours I know that he is available at almost any time if I needed help.

Dr. Shirazi is arguably one of the few first-year professors who values his students' education experience above all else. His lectures are clear, informative, and he will always take the time to clear up any confusion. I sincerely hope I have the chance to be in one of his sections in the future, as he is one of UBCO's best.

Mehran Shirazi is the best professor/ teacher I have ever had in my entire life. Not only does he comprehend the course material tremendously, he puts in work 24/7 to help us learn. Us learning is his number 1 priority. When school went online because of the Wuhan virus, Mehran was online all day everyday including weekends to video chat with us.

Mehran was such a help in my calculus 2 course. He helped with every topic whenever I needed it and made himself available all the time, even when we were forced to go online. Overall a fantastic professor that made a tough course easy.

His tests were really fair basically if you understood the practice test you would be guaranteed an A. He also made extra youtube videos going over each lecture for extra help.

Dr. Shirazi is the best professor I've ever had at UBCO. it's no surprise when eng profs are extremely knowledgable (as this beautiful man is) but the thing that sets Dr Shirazi apart from the others is his passion for teaching and also his genuine care for his students. Sherazi is one of the best teachers/prof's ive ever had in my now 13+ years of schooling, he has always open office hours making his always easy to access, and is so very clear, direct, and organized and it truly shows. Even during the COVD-19 outbreak he, without spamming our email inboxes, takes into account our opinions and criticisms! the best!

He is very caring and always makes sure his students understand the content before moving on. During the lecture he mainly goes through the work on how to solve the problems and if you want to learn the theory behind it he always has his office open. I found his midterm and final to be relatively easy however the circumstances (Covid-19) may have had a factor in it. Overall Dr. Shirazi's passion made him great.

One of the best professors at UBCO. It's not hard to get a hold of him even though he teaches a ridiculous amount of courses. He gives very clear instruction and is open to feedback (either in person or anonymously. I took 3 courses with him this year and the only negative I could say is that sometimes we spent too long on a topic.

The most caring professor in engineering. In a semester full of online lectures that make no sense and rules that disadvantage students, Dr. Shirazi was also respectful and considerate. Treats the students with respect and actually cares if we succeed.

I have had Dr Shirazi for two classes now, and I hope for many more with him. The way he can break down difficult concepts into understandable bits really helped. I found myself understanding linear algebra much better after having classes with him, to the extent I could help my friends at other universities do their work. Truly amazing!

Dr. Mehran Shirazi is the best professor you will ever have. His online classes are very well organized, and He has ample material for studying. He is always available if you need extra help, and he respects all of his students. He explains the course content very well, and is very receptive to criticism, as he is always trying to better his class.

This man is a legend. He is one of the most caring and kind people I have ever met. He does a great job at explaining the content and gives out enough homework that you will learn the material, but not so much you can't get it done. He also goes out of his way to make extra practice problems with solutions for when you need extra practice.

Amazing man, he deserves a vacation. Goes above and beyond for his students. He gives us everything, and all his time outside of classes if we need it. The final exam was difficult, but the topic is difficult and he provides the necessary support. If you take this class, make sure to ask for help if you need it.

He is a teacher who really cares about his students. He has dropped, assignments, quizzes, and midterms so that his students don't get stressed out. He also does a fantastic job of connecting the course material so that everything is related. The only thing I didn't like about his class is he tries to trick you with the wording of his questions.

A very humble and caring professor, that goes above and beyond to ensure his students are absorbing the lecture material. Extremely helpful, always available after class. The only reservation I have is that his exams and quizzes were too easy and I feel the difficulty and content were cut short unnecessarily.

He didn't just teach us how to understand the subject, he taught us how to love the course. Could not of ask for a better professor for such a complicated topic. The quizzes were easy, but the midterm and final exams were difficult. However, he had prepared us for those exams with lots of assignments and examples.

He is a kind and good teacher, but the course lacks proper structure and poor learning outcomes. It is recommended only for students seeking to boost their GPA with minimal time and effort.

Dr. Shirazi makes the material as easy to understand as it gets, his flipped classroom style does wonders for helping you learn the topics, even if you do not understand the topic, you can get help outside of lecture hours at almost all times, he pulls examples directly from the textbook and explains them well, overall, a great prof!

10/10 at teaching material course was well structured (flipped classroom) with weekly problems that had to be completed (very short, 5-30m) there were optional problem sets that take longer (2-4h weekly) for extra practice midterms(2) were not difficult enough relative to the final (or vice versa) due to many people being surprised by the final

Most lectures start with a kahoot and he's always kind to his students and cares about them. If you have the option of having Shirazi teach you a class you should definitely take it.

The GOAT. He is the most amazing professor I've had so far. He cares so much about his students and wants them to succeed so much. His office hours are informative and he is always ready to make small talk with his students. Attendance is not mandatory but going to them will let you succeed in this class. The best prof ever.

Dr. Shirazi genuinely cares about each and every one of his students and puts his own work aside to support us in office hours. I've heard that linear algebra is one of the harder courses in year 1 from friends at other universities, however, Dr. Shirazi made it one of the easiest by explaining advanced concepts with intuitive examples.

Overall, this is easily one of the best professors I have had at UBCO. He clearly cares a lot and is very well respected. His course 480 (modern control) is not easy; however, I find it very interesting, and if you are willing to work a bit, it is a great class taught well. There is a lot of content, and he is a great lecturer.

The Kahoots he does before every class are very engaging, n he explains the material in a way that's easy to understand. If there's another course that he's teaching I'm taking it, idc if it's an 8am or whatnot lol

Linear Algebra is a tough class however Mehran is an excellent professor who tries to be as accessible outside of class to students as possible. Final was harder than the midterm though but great professor.

One thing that Dr Shirazi does differently than other professors is his integration of active learning in his lectures. Before lectures, you're given a video to watch to learn about the content, and in the lecture themselves you'll play a kahoot on that video. He made this course not only easy and streamlined, but also insanely interesting.

There are videos and many practice problems for every lecture, making it easy to review for exams. We also did Kahoots every lecture (I won one!).
