Nice guy but hard exams.
Easy going person and interesting reading.
He is hard, and gives hard exams. But he also explains everything very well and speaks to you as if you are his children. He is very clear and interesting, so you don't fall asleep in his class. I would recommend him, only if you are willing to study hard
Very hard exams but such a nice teacher...Participation is very important. Good luck
He is the sweetest teacher i have yet to see in this school. His exams are hard but he goes through everything in DETAIL in class. if you pay attention in class you should be fine. If you really want to know literature he is your man.
Best professor I've had at Baruch. Highly recommend him. However, his test are pretty hard.
I thought he was one of the best professors I've ever had in Baruch. My only complaints are his tricky multiple choice questions and tedious, redundant lectures. He repeats an idea at least 3 times, rephrasing it differently each time, before moving on.
Great Professor! Such interesting discussions! Very nice professor! Relatively easy tests as long as you listen and study!
The best professor!!
nice professor, very intelligent
One of the great professors at Baruch. Very easy going, very interesting to listen to. Even for someone who hates these old Eglish texts, he is able to apply many ideas and concepts we learned in college and apply to that time period. A+
It is nothing to add... He is the best, learned a lot, even though i thought it is a****y class. I got A, the only thing he cares is no absences and no latenesses. But you can sleep in his classes if you choose to... I really enjoyed being with him.
I took his biblical archaeology class. Amazing. Class will blow your mind. Speaks with great passion and is one of the kindest and most genuine professors I've ever had. Brings material to life. Take any religion literature class that he offers... Not difficult/Not easy, definitely worth it!
Professor was hard to understand at times but he is so interested in what he teaches. I liked the class except for when he puts you on the spot to answer a question. If you don't like reading then don't take him cause be is really into to details and analyzing things to death.
Absolutely the smartest prof I have ever have. You will be impressed how much he knows. The only way to do good is to read.Just write down every single thing he say.The test are short essay+ mult.hoice+ T/F. But if you take a good notes, you'll be fine.Remember he is nuts about details from readings.
ABSOLUTELY TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Professor Lubetsky is a great guy. Doing well in his class requires nothing more than reading what is assigned. He is an extremely nice man and truly wants nothing more than to see his students do well.
Greatt Professor. One of best. His all classes are very interesting that you don't ever want to be absent. He is always availabe for help. I would recommend him for those people who want to learn things to improve their life style, improve knowledge, have fun and earn a good grade. Have fun
Best teacher in Baruch...no doubt about it. he makes a subject that can be hell such as ancient litt, interesting. His was my favorite class of the semester and i hate english/litt classes. Def take this prof.
great prof. one midterm, one final and 2 papers due the end of the semester. he keeps the material very interesting.
Kiss you good GPA goodbye one hard teacher. Too much workload and is hard to talk to. Fell asleep many times
Excellent Professor!!!!! One of the Best professors at Baruch College that I have encountered so far. For all my yugo cats outthere, make sure you take him, puts things in a very interesting manner, easy to talk to, just a great professor. Belive me. But you have to make sure that you pay very close attention to class discussion and Participate.
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR ALL TIME!!! CLEAR IN TEXT AND HELPFUL ALL THE TIME!!! EXAMS ARE FUNNY(IT SEEMS HARD = =") THE GRADING POLICY IS FAIR!! JUST SURE U R IN CLASS!! MOST OF THE EXAM QUESTIONS WILL DISCUSS IN CLASS
Listen, if you read stuff and are present in class - you are fine, if not - look for somebody else. A piece of advice: dont try to contradict him, you wont be able to prove it to him anyway...
Very good professor. Before this course I thought that the Bible is very boring. I have risked contradicting him. He was nervous. But I have provided a reasonable proof and there was no aftermath. A)
Probably one of the top 5 professors in Baruch. Material can be boring but he makes up for it with his enthusiasm in class discussions, tests consist of essay and crazy detailed m/c. In terms of professor he would be more at home at an Ivy League school, Baruch is lucky to have him.
He is intellegent! exam is easy if you do your study. he explain the subject pretty clearly! highly recommand you to take him.
He is a good professor but dont try to correct him because he knows what he os talkin about.
he's an excellent professor. You actually learn in his class and learn to appreciate Lit. Just pay attention to everything he says because it is going to be in the test. Like that you won't really have to read all the assigned stories, which some are long. Pay attention and you'll attain a good grade..i got a B+..n i didn't study for the final.
Just be in class and you wont need to read the book. exams are easy. assigns a few papers, but really short ones, and doesnt really grade them too harshly...
An amazing professor. I had him for 2006 Summer session and really enjoyed being in class at 8:00 in the morning. He definately knows his stuff and you will gain a lot of common knowledge from his class. He is very easy and forgiving. I would definately recomend anyone to take his course.
Very boring and repetitive, which helps you for the exam but will drive you crazy. Expects you to answer his questions in class and for exams the way HE wants you to so it's a little hard to get it perfect (unless you can read minds). The exam is multiple choice, short answers and an essay.
great prof for independent study - met with him only about 6 or 7 times the whole semester for one hour a week...you'll learn alot but you have to be a respectful person who is willing to do the work assigned - you are guaranteed an A from the start...take him if you have had him before, he offers independent study every semester
Professor Lubetski is one of the best andmostknowledgeable professors in Baruch College. He will teach you exactly what you need to know for every exam, and is very lenient with grading. Before taking the course, I was not very interested in reading literature, but upon completion of this course, my mind has been opened up. Highly recommended!
His class is definitely not an easy A kinda class; you have to work really work and show your interest in literature. A midterm, a final, and 2 papers, but lots and lots of readings. He explained everything about the readings in class, but it's a must to read and study the readings before class. Pay attention to details when studying for the exams.
Gosh I wish I could take all my English classes with this prof. He is definitely the greatest!! He knows so many things about everything and actually inspires you about the mysteries of life. He's tough but he's worth it!!
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST! very experienced, been teacher in baruch for more than a decade. what more can i say,
Professor Lubetski is THE FAIREST professor there is., do what u are supposed to and u will see it in the results, he is very helpful, professional and sympathetic (please don’t take advantage), he is very clear and does his part to clarify things before the start/end of every class. he goes out of his way to help his students.
Owesome Professor.Has a lot of experince and has published so many books just google him and you'll see 4 urself.Very generous grader exams are a little hard and you need to pay attention to details but he will go over everything in class.Gives essay part of final to do at home just hand it in on day of final.Funny guy.Take him, no questions asked.
ABSOLUTELY MUST TO TAKE!The best and most passionate professor.Open the world for you and connect the dots.Very clear and knowledgeable.Sometimes goes into details too much, but he's still adorable:)2 test+1 term paper.Test are somewhat hard (detailed),but he goes over it in class, just take good notes.Promises to give a quiz, but never does.Take him
AWESOME PROFESSOR! I really wasnt interested in LTT but he is soo great. I didnt want to read either becuz he gives alot of readings but wen I read them, they were so interesting and how he teaches just makes you want to know more. Tests are a bit hard but if u read it wont be so hard. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HIM! His class wasnt boring at all to me
GREAT Professor!!! Take his class. He is a very good man, very helpful, very knowledgeble, knows his subject very well, knows how to teach.HE makes the subject very interesting and usefull. He is very uniq. We need professors like Meir Lubetski!!!Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Take his course!!!
He is a very knowledgable and passionate professor. Always expect students to read text and understand the subject. But he gives too much reading, and exams are extremely hard. He tests specific passages from text and want us to identify each and explain. Unless you are willing to spend lots of time reading, exam is a pain in the ass.
This prof. is awesome. His answers to questions can be rather long winded but he is very knowledgeable. Reading the literature is a must. Be prepared to study.
Excellent professor. The material is obviously not easy but he clearly explains it in full depth and in the end, you will expand your knowledge. If you get the chance, take him!
I had Prof. Lubetski for LTT 2800 and then for two independent study classes, LTT 5000 & 5001. Ancient literature was nowhere as interesting for me until I took his class. It now became one of my favorite subjects. For the independent study classes, I researched the role of women in the Bible, and The Gospel of Judas. If you find his LTT 2800 class
Great professor! Capstone courses are difficult but he makes the independent study very interesting. It is not easy to find good sources but prof. Lubetski will help. The class is based on one-on-one meetings where you get to discuss the material covered.
If you hate professors imposing their own opinions on you, then I don't suggest a professor like Lubetski. He's a flaming ****, and he's extremely aggressive when you disagree w/him. However, he's very cunniving and manipulative with what he teaches. Very slick. Answer him w/exactly what he teaches (says), easy A. Beg to differ, and you'll suffer!
He's a very insightful and intelligent man. He doesn't necessarily impose his beliefs on you; you just need to be open-minded. I honestly learned a lot in his class and in a way, it was life-changing. He's a fair grader and is always willing to help. I highly recommend him.
He is a great professor. You get a midterm, Final, and term paper and doesn't count grammar and will revise it as many times as you want. Readings are somewhat long. You need to read the material, but if you read it once you are ok as he will give a detailed review of the material. If you take good notes and just listen to him you will get an A.
Prof. Lubetski is one of the wisest professors around. All class material are based off textbook readings or his handouts. He nitpicks line by line in and explains the material in a concise and coherent manner. Essays for exams are given beforehand so that you may write them and he will correct it for you until it is perfect. Highly recommended.
Really Good Professor. Extremely thorough with the readings and goes over them a lot. The class can get boring sometimes, but its literature. Overall taking the class with him was a great choice. Do the work and its an easy A.
He is very knowledgeable, but he gives too much reading however the tests are manageable if you listen well and read well. english is not my first language but he makes everything clear and therefore i have no problem understand him.
Great Professor.2 Exams,2 Short Papers and Class Participation.Extremely Helpful.Keeping up with Reading is the KEY.Class is interesting. He's a very nice man and cares for his students. Recommmed!!!
Not easy but it was a joy to be in his class. Not often do you find a professor dedicaed to his students and profession.
Great Professor!!! Extremely dedicated to his students! Go to class, he covers the readings in depth and his explanations are very helpful if you're having hard times understanding the material. Very fair grader, gives you what you deserve. This class will give you a strong background on ancient literature and your writing will definitely improve.
It's a capstone course.Work is done independently, but he is a great professor, very knowledgeable and always dedicated, and will help you out if you get stuck. You have to read the texts carefully in order to write a thoughtful analysis. This class is for students who genuinely want to learn. And don't worry, professor Lubetski will surely help you learn
I really enjoyed his class. Prof Lubetski makes a boring subject INTERESTING! Great sense of humor and wonderful story teller. TAKE HIM! I wish he taught other subjects
he is amazing! His tests are hard, but you will do fine.Highly recommended.
Might seem mean at first but is actually very nice. Makes the subject "crystal" clear and interesting. I learned a lot in his class. Have to say his tests are bit hard but he is a fair grader. Read the materials and attend his lectures and you'll be fine.
Excellent teacher.. get on his good side early.. prepare, READ, and participate and you'll get an A.. clearly explains the material
Really good professor. All u have to do to get A is to come to class prepared.
Very good professor, he is the only few professors that cares about his students. He wanted his students to learn. Explains every detail in his class on materials, all you need to do is sit and listen. Don't get tricked by his appearance in your first class LOL
Really an EXCELLENT professor. He made an English class from boring to really engaging and fun! There is a mid term and final which isn't too hard if you read the materials and listen to his class. He really wants his student to learn so he would go over the material slowly until you understand it. A++ professor and i highly recommend him.you rock!
I got the news that professor Lubetski got laid off. Baruch made another idiotic decision. They laid off a great professor. Hope for the best to him!
He is the great guy to have. but he was laid off? really? i mean he gave me a ton of work, but it was a worthwhile though. wish the best for him.....
Dr. Lubestki is an excellent teacher and a great person. He is the best dude around, no joke. He truly wants his class to learn and cares about his students. Instead of having a boring literature class, he opened my eyes to the amazing world of literature. I hate to read and he go me engaged with his way of teaching.
You're in good hands. Dr. Lubetski teaches beyond the textbook. He IS amazing! Read the materials, take good notes & participate when you can = Easy breezy for midterm & final. I'd like to take him again if he teaches other class.
Dr. Lubetski is AMAZING. His passion for the subject and his love of the classroom is second to none. At first I wanted to drop the class but his kindness and lectures made me stick around. The class and the exams are hard but totally worth it. He will help you and you will leave the class feeling enriched. I hope to take him again in the future.
This class requires work. It's not easy. However, Professor Lubetski is one of the best professors I've ever had. Do the reading, ask good questions, and you'll thoroughly enjoy this class. I miss his class!
Prof. Lubetski is great! Super helpful. He will explain you text line by line and make not very easy readings crystal clear. He will give you topics on exams essays few weeks prior, you can bring it to him, he will check them, correct mistakes, give suggestion and them you just bring the perfect papers to the actual exam. TAKE HIM!!!
This class requires a lot of work. Professor Lubetski is excellent at what he does but do not expect an easy A. This class requires a lot of reading and a lot of time in order to do well. Do not take this class and expect to do nothing.
Professor Lubetski is amazing! There's a midterm, term paper, and a final. He goes over the material a week prior to the exams. He also helps you during them. Easy A !
Awesome professor who will interpret line by line of ancient, hard-to-read text to a more understandable form. This class requires work from interpreting texts, analysis, and writing, but it will enrich your minds. Always go over the material a week before exams, will explain to you the meaning of the text multiple times. Great class, must take!
What a great professor. You must participate in class, go over your notes and you will do good in this class.
Excellent teacher and great person in general. Class required some reading an writing as with any literature class but everything is explained very clearly. You can tell he knows a lot and really cares about his students. Definitely learned more from this class than any other class this semester. If you're thinking about taking his class, do it!
Great Professor! Learned a lot. There are a lot of readings but he makes things very clear. Take him!! You wont regret it
this class is not bad.however, his exam is too hard.first part is a take home essay.the second and third parts are too hard, the final part which is MC questions are tricky as well. overall, he is kinda helpful and understandable and not a hard grader, but you have to understand all texts he mentioned in class.
Very nice & helpful.Take notes, whatever he's explaining in class.Exams consist from three part: first home take essay,2 topics to choose-decision up to you.The second short answers in class, they're not hard,he'll not pay attention to grammar mistakes, check how much you understand the material. third multiple choice questions which are pretty easy.
Best Professor at Baruch College !!!
He is one of those old wise mans that whatever comes out of his mouth should be written on the bible, you dont really need to do anything in his class, he doesnt collect anything other than the 2 papers he gives & the papers that are due for the midterm and final, very nice person and really understanding.
He's really in depth when explaining the lesson. He offers good notes and makes you think a lot, which is good. He's funny at times because of how serious he gets about the topic. The tests seemed hard, but he's a nice grader. His notes are very clear to study from for the exams. Also you have two papers to write, he gives the whole semester to do.
He's a little tough to figure out. He is a real nice guy deep down but sometimes he's unclear in what he's saying and the notes get a little hard to follow. He offers help always and that's a definite plus. His midterm and final are both really hard, especially the multiple choice, but he's nice with the grades.
A tough fellow to keep up with and a boring class. He has absolute 0 tolerance with the usage of phones and other devices. Keep focused in class, even though he babels about nothing, he will say relevant things about the exam. Read and do the homeworks if you can, yeah its a bunch of reading to do, but the Midterm and Final will be easy if you do.
This is my third year in college and I can vehemently say Prof Lubetski is the best prof I have ever had! his lectures are deep and very informative. He gives you the picture and lets you feel the gap so if you are feeble minded, dont take him. His test are very easy too if you do the assigned readings.
Best professor in Baruch. He is a really nice old wise man. He doesnt only teach you about the textbook, he teaches you about something interesting thats also related to the class. His lectures are very interesting and informative. I am always drawn attention by his lectures. He is definatly worth your tuition! Must take English Professor in Baruch
I literally have a quotes page that I now have saved for the rest of my life. Write down everything this man says. It's not the easiest class - just the most important.
Great professor. He has so much knowledge. His lectures can be long and boring but its manageble. You have to read in order to pass this class. Overall, i enjoyed it. Not that bad. Take him, he is very considerate.
the hardest professor ever
Prof. Lubetski is perhaps my favorite professor in Baruch. I have never had a professor that is so passionate for what he teaches. At first, you may be bored from reading the ancient texts, but he tries to make the readings interesting and clear to understand. He's inspiring and wise, much like a grandfather telling a story to his grandkids.
This prof is amazing! I've never seen a professor that cares that much about his students. He is such as gem. He has an enormous knowledge about everything, and the discussions in class are very interesting. Get ready to read which is normal since it is an english class.. Do the readings, listen to his lectures, and you'll get the grade you deserve
Very nice and lenient
He is a good professor. However, he can be very rude sometimes. He is nice, but you cannot express your opinion- just repeat whatever he said.
It was a hard class for me. He needs to be more open-minded.
He is nice and his exams are very clear
He's a wonderful professor who cares about his students. For him, it's more than just an English class, he aims to teach life lessons through analysis of ancient literature. It's an enjoyable class where an A is attainable. Just show up to class, participate, and do the readings; simple. Grade is comprised of midterm, term paper(s), and final
Very nice but stubborn man. Sounds like he's angry a lot even though he doesn't mean it. He wants answers exactly the way he thinks about it. Do the readings, listen to him, take notes on what he says and use those as answers for the exams and papers. he's been teaching for a lot of years and his lectures show that even though they may be boring
if you do the readings it will be the easiest class ever
Take his Class!!!! The BEST professor I had at Baruch so far. Professor Lubetski, is very knowledgeable about the subject matter and goes above and beyond to make sure you understand. To do well in his class take read the assigned text (some of them are very interesting), take good notes, do the homework and prepare for the Midterm and Final.
Lots of reading and even more reading in between the lines. If you do something wrong, he gets mad and yells at you in front of the class -- happened to a few others. Nice guy deep down but can seem really rude to some.
Take this with Philosophy 1006 and History 1001, I highly recommend taking these together because in all three classes you essentially learn about Greek history. Lubetski is an old school man who seems random at first but then ties every single piece together in an extraordinary way. His class is sweet and light. Don't read, just take a few notes.
Lenient grader. He does love to hear himself speak and only his way is right, but he makes the class easy. He explains everything in a simplified manner that anyone can understand.
Hard mid terms and finals but really nice guy. He is a lenient grader though.
Professor Lubetski is a really caring guy and people get worked up over him "yellling". He doesn't yell at the students, he's getting old and sometimes says things really loud. He tells you exactly what essays will be on the exam and outlines what to study. It's reading intensive but if he sees you're serious about your work, you'll get an A.
one of the greatest professor I had ever take.
I don't recommend him. I took this class because I trusted the RMP ratings. I got a B+ in the class and that's saying something if I have 4 A's in my other honors classes. The material isn't hard, it's just that he can't teach and his wording on the exams can be very vague and ambiguous.
Lots of reading but you can quizlet most things, professor explains everything well
He's ok. Nice guy, but you have to be patient with him. He assigned waaayy too many homework and readings. Made us participate more towards the end which was stressful. But as long as you do what you gotta do, you'll be fine.
He is the worst. Long lectures and exam questions are very vague. In my opinion very disorganized because sends emails from personal that ends up in junk just for you to miss assignments.
Prof. Lubetski was clear from the beginning on his expectations for the class, was always prepare, and on time. He provided all the info u needed on the syllabus and was available outside of class hours. Be ready to read, do HW based on each reading and some PW. Also if youre not patient with the elderly then skip. Overall great/caring Professor
He is very unclear. Expects way too much.
took this class because of the rating, but i disagree with it now. multiple reading assignments weekly with a quiz following the reading. forces you to keep your camera on during class. calls on people randomly. If you are going to present a question, you need a powerpoint. he yells in class alot, bc hes passionate or something ?
He is a very old fashioned teacher and raises his voice a lot because he is old. My only complaint way that he gave too much homework. Be prepared to read a lot and to make a PowerPoint for presentations. And you are required to present at least three times. 33% homework 33% midterm 34% final. Final is not cumulative (everything after the midterm).
One of the worst online classes you can take. Requires you to have your camera on the whole time and often cold calls. Will raise his voice pretty sporadically and gives no rubric nor guidance on how to answer questions or do presentations.
Easily one of the best professors I have seen. Be prepared to do a lot of work weekly as he assigns a lot of reading with a google form to fill out that has MC and short response. The three tests are 55% of your grades but if you do your work they are easy. Sure he yells and tells people to turn on their camera but he really wants to know everyone.
I took Professor Lubetski's course during the year 1999. He is a great instructor and made literature so enjoyable. This professor explains the details of the content instead of just generically presenting it. I am considering coming back to Baruch to take one of his classes just for the sheer interest of the content. Great professor.
