she is great prof.....you have to do homework because she counts as grade....she just teach too much over all a great lady!!!!!!!!!!most interesting thing about her is she cares about each student in class....nice by nature also....Easy A!!!!!!!! really recommended....
She is very good teacher, easy to understand. I love her class just waiting to see if she can teach Chemistry :). The best professor for CHM 010
She is a wonderful professor. She explains fabulously. There is no way that one cannot understand chemistry with her.
She is absolutely a wonderful person and a caring teacher. She's very thorough, you'll definately learn in this class. All of her tests are based on what she's taught in class, so study and you'll pass w/out a doubt. Attendance is KEY, so don't miss her classes she goes over a lot of material.
What a fantastic professor. I had her fall of 07' and when i say she's good I truly mean it. She's a dedicated and teacher to her students and expalins it clear detail. She made Chem interesting. Make sure to follow her study guides cause ?'s are similar on test.
Very good professor, dedicated and knowledgeable.
she was cool. didnt care for chemistry but i needed it to go to nursing. do the work, study, and go to class. its an easy A or B.
BEST CHM PROF. EVER. SHE TAKE HER TIME TO TEACH. SHE WILL NOT MOVE ON TO THE NEXT SUBJECT UNLESS EVERYONE UNDERSTAND WHAT IS BEING TAUGHT. SHE IS INDIAN BUT SPEAK VERY CLEAR. STUDY FOR HER CLASS AND YOU WILL PASS. NURSING STUDENTS IF YOU WANT TO PASS I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER.
Didn't like her at all stay away from adjuncts they aren't that great
I love this teacher. She is very helpful and helps you to clearly understand the material. She goes over it repeatedly in class if there is anyone that isn't following. Most teachers won't do that. But you cannot submit anything late or else it is a ZERO! So keep that in mind if you choose her, it wasn't a problem for me since I didn't miss a class
THIS IS THE BEST PROFESSOR I'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME SHE HELPS EVERYONE IN THE CLASS AND WAITS TILL EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS THE MATERIAL. COME TO EVERY CLASS DUE THE HOMEWORK AND DO ALL THE LABS AND YOU WILL GET AN A. MAKE SURE TO STUDY AND DON'T LEAVE ANYTHING TO THE LAST MINUTE OR YOU WILL FALL BEHIND. SHES IS AMAZING AND I RECOMMEND HER TO ANYONE!!
Great teacher. She makes sure the class understands. Her exams are not so easy but if you do and study youll do great. She always willing to help. I recomend her!!!!!
Not an easy A or B. Very helpful, willing to go above & beyond to help you. CHM is mostly math. If your not good at math you will not pass. There is a quizz & test on every chapter. Give a lot of homework and want you to show your work on everything. She give you an exam in Lab @ the end of the semester. Don't be late for class will call you out.
She displays satisfactory knowledge in CHM and answers questions but doesn't project well in class. There were times that she's unaware of her writing on the board is too small. There are questions in her test that she didn't teach, w/c can significantly affect your grade. She gets offended easily and unreasonably. She puts effort but not good prof
She's not the greatest teacher I've had. She's not a good teacher at all.She goes past the class time limit sometimes like it means nothing. Hard quizzes and tests. She thoroughly informs you on steps on how to do work but it's a lot more than needed and just confusing. She has a strong accent and is bipolar. It seems as though she's yelling at you.
she teaches very well an explains the topic alot gives 3 attempts for hw, but her tests are hard and she kind of grades unfairly. she also drops the lowest Quiz and exam.
I loved having professor Girish for CHM 107. She is very helpful. Everything she testes you on, is something that she repeated many times in class, class assignments, and home work, so if you didn't do good on the test , its on you and only on you because you did not study. Will not tolerate stupidity. Overall, I really reccomend her.
She was great. .There was a ton of work involved but she made you work hard to earn your grade. She was very thorough and helpful. She does write on the board kind of small.
Her handwriting on the board is SO small. If you're not sitting in the first row it is hard to read. She gives so much work and there is a quiz at least once a week. I do not think she gives enough time for homework either. However, she is a really nice professor most of the time and she makes copies of the powerpoints for you.
She was honestly my favorite professor last semester. Its a lot of work but she makes sure to cover all points. Her lectures and powerpoints are extremely clear. You wont be leaving her class wondering what you just learned. Gives examples.Show up to class, study and you will do finee! LOVED HER!
This is the best professor to take for gen chem 121. She explains everything in detail and will not move on unless everyone has understood the topic. She drops the lowest hw assignment, and gives you 3 tries on the homework. I recommend this professor to anyone taking chemistry.
Professor Girish displays very good knowledge in Chemistry and is willing to drop the lowest grade. She tests you on the exact things she talked about so pay attention and study her practice questions they're very similar. She wants organization and "finish on time" during lab. It was a read class but study slides and read the chapters.
Professor Girish has made me love chemistry for the first time in my life. She is VERY helpful and seems to LOVE to love the subject. She uses wonderful analogies to every-day concepts which she uses to explain various topics in the course. Definitely a MUST-HAVE professor if you choose to take the class!
The best instructor! She explains everything clearly and cares about students!
She is amazingggg! she cares about teaching you and makes sure you're clear on every topic. its not easy but shes an amazing teacher
The BEST professor I ever had! She gives us ppt slides as well as problems to do in class. She goes over them and makes sure we understand it. Her tests and quizzes are almost the same as the homework and class problems she assigns. Understandable and fun! I recommend her!
Worst class I had to take so far. She tells you to read the chapters but she bounces around the chapters a bit and throws you off. Yells a lot for some reason and has the homework on this online program that is just aweful.
Only had her for a lab but she was wonderful. Very helpful! Only 2 tests the entire semester and they're based off of the labs we do. Tests are nearly the exact same experiments done in lab so do your labs! She will give them back to you to study for the tests
She wont take any bs. If she sees that you are genuinely trying, then she will try to help you in return. She despises anyone who appears spoiled.
Willing to work with you. Takes time to explain questions of you are having trouble. Would take her again. Very good professor as long as you do what your supposed to do and try and your best
One of the worst professors. She's intimidating and gives impossible exams. She also would make numerous errors in her calculations and confuse everyone :(. I would never take her again. Don't listen to the other reviews. Her exams were all open ended and she doesn't give partial credit. Stay away and take it with another professor. GPA lowered.
Very good teacher. Demonstrates every single step to every equation on the board, and makes it easier to comprehend. I tend to get bored easily in chemistry, but in her class I'm more focused than usual. I wouldn't mind taking her class again.
Shes a nice lady but she makes chemistry harder than it needs to be. Lectures are boring.
I would never ever take her again or recommend to anyone unless they want to lower their GPA from perfect 4 to 2, she is the worst professor in the entire campus, she does not know how to teach. Please guys do not take her, she is the worse.
Do not take her she is the worst professor
she does not know how to teach
she doesn't even let you make up the quiz or test
It was worse experience, guys seriously she is horrible. She does not have humanity DO NOT TAKE HER
Girish is probably as good as you'll get for a chem professor. She's stern but has a good personality. She can go fast sometimes but you'll learn to keep up (took me half the semester haha). She's clear most of the time but can be confusing sometimes. Chem 122 is a difficult class and she always offers to help whenever she can.
She is very good, she drops lowest lab report, for lab exam you just have to study lab manual. She ask everything from lab manual, gives extra credit.
Overall, she was Good. She gave a few quizes, five HEAVY TESTS, and online homework. May be not very friendly, but super knowledgeable! She is absoloutely prepared for every single lecture, and she never wastes time. Extra help always offered. She teaches well, and of course expects high. Try to get first row seats since her handwriting is tiny.
She is the best professor I have ever taken. She really cared about the students and wanted everyone to do well. She means business so be prepared to work. Chemistry isn't a walk in the park, but if you're looking for someone to make it easier, take her. I wish I could have her as my professor for every class.
Prof. Girish is an amazing prof. She cares about her students when her students care about chemistry. All of her quizzes are based off the review sheets and the test are based off the quizzes (and review sheets).
Best chemistry professor ever...
Gave us very little time for exams... would not take her again
The worst chemistry professor I ever had. She is very disrespectful with students. Do yourself a favor do not take chemistry with her.
Initially, prof Girish could come off as scary. Over time, you will learn she is tough because she only wants her students to succeed. She is very caring and will always be accessible outside of the classroom to make sure you understand, only if she sees you trying your hardest. Chemistry isnt easy but she explains it in a very understandable way.
Great professor She knows what she is teaching and makes sure you know what you are trying to find out in lab
Good professor, can be eccentric at times but shes very caring and wants her students to pass. She gives good feedback and will be available for office hours if you ask. Since this course is centered around equations the more you do problems the more youll understand. Shell go through problems with you and help you understand. Would take again.
Moves way too fast during lecture and does not give you enough time to ask questions before moving onto the next topic. Seems to get annoyed when students do not understand something. Most class periods seem rushed.
Gives a quiz literally every other class. Tries to make you learn a topic in one class period and never goes back to the topic. Gets agitated when a student doesnt understand. Homework every week, graded of course. No extra credit either. Do yourself a favor and pick your classes early so you dont get stuck with her.
this lady is the best chemistry professor I have ever had. I truly enjoyed her class. She might seem hard at the beginning, but it becomes easier as time goes by. If you are a STEM major, this is your woman. She likes hardworking people, so be prepared to study every day. She is a pure gem.
She is Amazing!!! I took her for both lab and lecture and it was the best thing I could ever do. This professor wants and makes everybody learn. She is good at teaching like she really knows what she is doing. She makes sure that everybody understands what they are supposed to do and if anyone struggle, she is always willing to help. Love her.
she is really a good teacher. explains everything to you very clearly. must take her
Had Girish for a Chem I lab in the Fall. Sounds intimidating at first with a set of high standards but gets easier along the way. Can be hard to make up for labs since she abides by the governing science dept rules. Grade is 50% labs, 25% midterm, 25 final (they're identical to the labs!)
This professor is very well knowledgeable about what she is teaching. However she is very very rude. Doesn't allow you to speak. Talks down to you and doesn't seem to care overall about mannerism. When you ask a question she makes you feel dumb. When I got excited about passing a quiz she told me don't get too excited you barely passed, I got an A!
She is very well knowledgeable about what she is teaching. However she is extremely rude! Its uncomfortable. She embarrases people alot, very unnecessary. When you ask a question she makes you feel dumb. Half way through the semester the pandemic began and made thing difficult. She continously changed test time limits effecting many grades.
save yourself the trouble and do not take her unless you have no other options. She is completely unreasonable Im no sure what she's out to do teach or fail.
Labs are ok, exams will mess you up badly
Took during the pandemic so everything was online. Test and quiz every week. The class moves fast. Sometimes we have to do 2 chapters at a time making things confusing. Tests can be hard, and the grades messed with my mental health so I had to drop the class. No matter how much I studied, or scheduled meetings with the prof, it wasn't enough.
Considering this is an online chem lab, Professor Girish is a pretty reasonable professor. She always offers to meet with us outside of her office hours to make sure we aren't lost. She can be hard to follow during class but I'm glad I had her for an online course. 50% is labs and 50% is the only two tests you have.
Save yourself some trouble, find quite literally anyone else for a lab professor. And dont bother even trying to ask her for help unless you want to look even more dumber.
Had to drop to save my GPA.. NO understanding for students. Takes forever to grade, yet criticizes students in front of the whole class. Not clear when explaining topics, overall just don't take Girish. Will not help you
I had to drop to save myself and unfortunately have to retake this class later on, but it definitely will NOT be with her. Very unclear to students, gives very harsh criticism in front of the entire class. She claims "you should worked better", but yet she can't bother to actually try to help us instead of making us look stupid
Prof Girish was the terrible. Chemistry has always been easy for me, but she made things difficult. She taught at a fast pace, we had a quiz/exam every class. It was a new chapter taught every meeting. Not much time was given on the exams either, only half the time. Very insensitive to personal situations as well, during the pandemic.
She was aight, my only problem was there was not enough time to finish exams. Pretty decent at teaching. But she will rarely make exceptions for a missed quiz or exam. 3/5
Worst professor in the chemistry department. Ask for help, be prepared for some rudeness from her
A lot of people on here are saying shes unfair, what they mean to say is that you actually need to put in work to do well. I think she taught everything clearly and well. The only downside to her is that she can be short and borderline rude sometimes. Dont let that stop you from taking her though, shes a good teacher
Im sorry but I have to disagree with the previous review. Im usually an A/B student who puts in a lot of effort into school work. Professor Girish has changed that for me with the lack of explaining things and moved at a pace no one can keep up with, yes, including smart students. Shes also very rude when you dont understand something.
Professor Girish is definitely a professor I would take again. She is very knowledgeable about the material and is dedicated to helping you succeed as long as you are willing to put in the work. Considering chemistry is a more difficult course, understand prior to registering that hard work and dedication come with it no matter the professor.
Very tough exams, and there is no way of having open notes during exams, even while taking her courses online. Be prepared to work hard and study hard, other than that she is alright teacher.
Was afraid of her the first few days, but she is really nice and awesome. All the material she gives is super important and if you use it, you will get easy A. Tests and quizes were tough but not impossible, never got below a 85 on them and I studied a good amount
One of THE WORST professors I took ever. Very unclear. short-tempered, very impatient, and doesn't like answering questions. If you care about your GPA or if you want to understand chemistry DO NOT take her!
It was my second time taking lab with her and passing this lab was very hard for me. She has been one of the best chemistry professor Ive taken and she makes it easy to understand. She does care about her students and wants them to succeed. However, you gotta be prepared if youre gonna ask her questions because she tends to be impatient sometimes
Professor Girish was a very tough teacher especially when her exam grading criteria is 60% while hw is only 7%. She teaches quickly and you can't miss a class or you will not pass. She has tests every other week and you must show exact work for every little step or she takes points off. Participate or you'll lose points. I would not take her again.
Even though she can come off as rude sometimes she is a very good chemistry teacher. You need to pay attention and do the work when she tells you to. She also loves participation so you need to really focus in class so you are ready when she calls on you. She really cares about her students and will make time to help you outside of class.
A little rude at first but if she sees that you are trying she will work with you. She does have an issue of patience and will not answer questions that deal with the topics discussed previously in class even in office hours. She gives a lot of practice questions (not graded) BUT DO THEM OR YOU WILL STRUGGLE.
If you're not a very quick learner save your time and money and AVOID TAKING THIS PROFESSOR!!!! She goes through the lectures very quickly, doesn't give you the full class time for exams, will give you an attitude in front of everyone, and overall JUST AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!
Her teaching needs severe revision. She always claims we're behind even though all the lectures seem rushed. She only gives half a class period for the tests (they're long). There's usually surprise content on them as well, problems we haven't done before. She thinks her class is the only one that exists, and always goes over the allotted time.
SIS DOESN'T EVEN GIVE YOU THE FULL CLASS TIME TO TAKE AN EXAM. GIVES 7 LECTURE EXAMS AND ONLY DROPS THE TWO LOWEST ONES. WILL TEACH LECTURE THEN GIVE AN EXAM OR QUIZ THE LAST SECOND. LIKE WHAT ARE WE DOING FR? SOUNDS LIKE A SET UP FOR FAILURE. SO SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHES, STRESS, AND MONEY!
Professor Girish who really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. The lectures where interesting and had good jokes. Professor Girish does a great job reviewing questions in class. Be prepared to work, this isnt an easy class but if you put in the effort you get the grade you deserve
Overall Mid professor in this course, I dropped the class because I couldn't keep making it at the time I was suppose to. She's understanding and although she gets overwhelmed sometimes... you have to understand her. However I wouldn't take her again and I don't recommend.
Mrs. Girish, an exceptional teacher, simplifies complex concepts step by step. While her teaching pace is brisk due to time constraints, she encourages questions and ensures every student comprehends. For those committed to learning, she is an ideal choice.
Extremely difficult. Tough grader- even if answer is correct she is known for deducting points for any little error. She has a super thick accent which makes understanding her difficult.
Has a very short temper. Difficult to understand and is a VERY tough grader.
Tough grader. If you want an easy A, don't take her.
she simplified concepts and made them easy to understand, willing to help if u put in time and effort, she'll meet u halfway. if ur doing a degree in stem, highly recommend. if ur taking chem to fulfill requirements, go with somebody else. she's pretty reasonable (unlike the reviews), and her accents completely understandable everybodys just racist
Really difficult to understand- takes points off for every little thing even if answer is correct. Loves to give tests with out having time to process information or study. She gave tests weekly and tons of HW
Please save yourself, take another professor for this course. She teaches very quick, and lacks empathy for students. She's knowledgeable in chem, but lacks an understanding on how a course should be run. We were so rushed at the last week, we barely learned 4 chapters worth of information that would then be on the final--she sped through it all.
I'm sorry but she was one of the reasons I had to consider leaving college. Very rude and disrespectful. Not helpful when i was struggling. Made me have second thoughts about this school
If you do your work and prove that you care about the course, she will take care of you. Overall a very good professor and person as well. She is CLEARLY understandable, I don't why so many are saying otherwise. Do your HW, show you care and you'll be fine.
She's a very good professor and makes it pretty easy to pass as long as you show up and take notes. Very heavy with Alecks hw tho but gives study guides before each test that help a lot. Was a bit rushed towards the end but overall she isn't bad unlike what others are saying. Test heavy but they are like the study guides and she drops the lowest 2.
As long as you show up to class and follow along with the in class assignments she gives at the start of each chapter you will be well off, lectures are very helpful and she makes information digestible. Gives practice packets before test that are very similar to the test. Do the ALEKs as it also helps in class!
................
Professor Girish is known for her fast-paced lectures, but if you engage with the material and use resources like the textbook and unstuck AI, you can succeed. Attend class, do the work, and she'll work with you.
Her lectures and work is fast pace and heavy, but you need to apply yourself. If you're struggling, visit her office hours! She is very helpful if you go and reach out to her. She explains everything so well and cares about chemistry. She is particular with having people show up on time but she's earned my respect. So hard to find good profs
Very homework-heavy, her class is super dependent on lectures, and you shouldn't miss because she throws out sudden quizzes. She is very understanding and will help you during her office hours, but she is often packed with other students who need help as well, difficult to get help at times. She's a good teacher if you put your all into it!.
You NEED to put your time and focus in this class. ALEKS is used by all professors; it really does help you learn the material. She is fair, nice, but she will call you out if you deserve it. Exams were by the chapter so it wasn't too bad. But it was hard towards the end of the semester; we had last chapter exam the day before our final cumulative.
Never thinks she's wrong, always rushes through the lesson, never actually cares for the students but will tell you she does. Don't waste your money on this course take a better professor, youll feel lost from the first week if you dont understand what shes saying. She has an accent so it dosent make nayhting better.
She goes really fast in her lectures, but if you go to her office hours, she will explain stuff really well. She has quizzes for every lecture, so be prepared to study. If you go over the class practice packets while studying for tests, you will do well.
