He is a bit of a pesimist but not rude. He is also very helpful if you ask for it. As far as the work, if you do than your ok. In his class you learn more than just the Lit. He's AWESOME!

This man is brillant! He has inspired me on so many different levels! True, the man does assign work, but that's how we learn and no one ever said college would be a easy-ride. doing homework and applying ourselves is how we learn.

yes, he's opinionated, sarcastic, and at times brazen BUT forget that=you'll learn TONS from him. he's brilliant & you'll find yourself motivated! keep up with readings and you won't have trouble writing. he's actually very helpful!

he is very interesting and draws you into his lectures. this is not a class to sleep in because he cares about your success and progress in this class. he is incredibly intelligent and profoundly gifted in his field. i hope to take him again for an elective. i never did this well with any teacher.

Mr. Haile is a good teacher but demands alot from the student. Don't show up late, fall asleep, or not turn in work. Highly intelligent, but very opinionated, gives good arguments and funny stories. Very helpful in and out of class. Not too much work, but lots of thinking for it. Good Teacher.

Mr.Haile is a kind, creative person who always has interesting lectures. He is very supportive and is focused on helping each student do well, and working with you. He does assign a lot of work, but if you are actually interested in learning, this is a very good class to enroll in.

HAILE IS HOT MAN! Besides being distracted his hotness he is a very educated, well read man. This is not a slack class, no easy A's here but you will learn. He's fair, but KEEP ON HIM ABOUT YOUR GRADES, he is not consistent with feedback on those papers you turn in but he's so interesting. YOU WILL STAY THE ENTIRE CLASS!

I suffer from a very short attention span but he was able 2 pull me in2 his lectures. His opinionated ways make 4 humor. I thought 4 sure I would fail but he worked w/ me 2 get me a B in his class. He's so eloquent + intelligent. He's tough but he believed in me when I was going to give up. I would do anything to have a boyfriend like him.

Fairly arrogant professor. Difficult quizes, lots of reading, interesting lecture (though it rarely covers the actual reading) If this sounds interesting, then you will probably enjoy the class. I didn't like it because of the amount of reading combined with the daily quizes.

Cool Teacher Who Cares about the students. If you do you homework and you want to learn. he is the coolest teacher you can take.

He's a great teacher, who cares about his students. Make sure you do your homework! And show up to class, then he won't chew your head off, he doesn't really give quizzes too much, but lots of reading.

This is not an easy class there is a lot of reading and the teacher can be a little harsh. If you do the reading pay attention and participate in class it will not be too difficult. He does curse and gets very uuhhmm passionate about things he lectures about. Overall the class was hard but worth it most interesting teacher I have ever had.

This class is VERY reading intensive. Do not get behind! Prof. Haile is probably the best professor to take it with. Im not gonna lie, its a lot of work. Quizes over every reading, take home questions, and a couple essays. He cusses alot, but he is super funny...and kinda cute ;) Very very passionate about literature. I recommend him.

He is humorous and extremely intelligent. He's passionate about what he does and while he argues his opinions, it's safe to disagree if you argue intelligently (sometimes I think this is only bait to get his students to think). Work is hard, but when the smoke clears, you'll be proud of your grade. I wish I could take him over and over again.

World Lit I. Haile is very cool and quite the character. He and I totally disagreed on politics (but agreed on everything else). We went at it in class all the time and he is okay with that as long as you can stand your ground. Yes, he is a shocker, yes there is work involved...but Haile will go the distance for you. There are very few teachers that leave a profound impact on you after you leave thier class. This is the best prof. in the world! You have to take him, its truly life changing. There is a bunch of reading, but the tests come right from what you read. He's brilliant, very enlightening, hilarious and understanding.

Overly liberal and opinionated character spills over into the topics at hand. Should probably be teaching alongside Ayers. Just agree and "baa" along to get a good grade, easy enough.

Homework is pretty easy, follows the syllabus. Mr. Haile really gets into his teachings. Very intellegent and wise. Lots of reading and the essays are pretty simple, about two to five page essays.

Helpful and would really like you to learn but we did a lot of 2.5 page papers like 8 or 9.

I had him as a professor during spring 2009. He is wonderful in his teaching methods using movie clips,pictures and his own life experiences. Test come from his reading assignments,don't just skim it,really read it or you will fail the test. I recommend him for any english course you have to take at San Antonio College. You won't be sorry i'm not!

I always hated english teachers. He changed that. He is rude, abrasive, etc...but he WILL provoke you to learn and grow. It's almost like having House for a teacher. This Professor, I totally recommend. I just finished his class and I am in love with english. He helped me discovered my inner passion to read. This guy speaks his mind, but has a way of saying things that you just fall in love and thats what makes him sexier. Beautiful smile and truely cared for his students. I took him during Maymester. Didn't require a book. Gives you copies of what he wants you to read. Very opinionated professor, so he butted heads with a couple of students. But, the class wasn't that hard as long as you do your work. Also, he curves your grade if you really good attendance.

English has always been the scariest subject for me, but after being in his class I was eager to take his 1302 class. He makes a 3 hour class seem like a 45min class. Has a lot of personality and very willing to teach to those who want to learn. Work hard in his class and it will pay off.

This dude is hilarious. Dont fall asleep in class or he will throw chalk at you. If you dont do the reading, you will not pass, but the class was very interesting (Ancient Literature) and he holds your attention. Kinda wish I had to take another English class just to take him again.

Mr. Haile is an amazing teacher, he is very worldly and understanding, he searches for a higher purpose in his teaching instead focusing so much on the mechanics of English. Go to class and give a whole hearted attempt to your work and you will be A.O.K. If you get a chance you should take him.

In 2005 I took my first semester with Mr. Haile. Because of him and what he is for the students at SAC I now have 2 degrees from there. In class my first day of college he said look around more than 75 percent of you will never finish with a degree. He is about reality and encouragement. He alone lowers those stats. Thanks for believing in me.

The guy can be a little crass, condensending but I personally think it's becasue he has been teaching for almost 20 years and can spot BS a mile away. Don't BS him and you won't have a target on your forehead. He knows his stuff but he also realizes that he is fallible as well. Do the assignments and try your best and you should do fine.

Good prof, would take his class again if I need more Engl. He doesn't take any BS, esp. from the young students. Do the required work & you'll pass. work harder for better grade. I first took Mr. Haile in 1301, loved him so much I took him again for 1302. He is a wonderful teacher and a beautiful human being. I wish there were more like him in the World. Do the required reading and show up to class and you will have no problems. He is a little moody, but hey who isn't? In a nutshell, everyday is an adventure.

Mr.Haile is a smart guy VERY opinionated and intimidating if you say something that he thinks is stupid he'll make sure to let you know how stupid you sound. His class isn't hard though just make sure you read the "short stories" he assigns you and turn in your essays, its about 5 essays in total and the final is a essay also and you should pass!

Great Teacher. Other students tend not to like him because of how he is but they are just sensitive. He is very intelligent, and teaches you properly. If u think you can debate him, don't. Mr. Haile is hands down the best professor I have ever had thru all my college experience. I actually cried saying goodbye to him because I felt like I was losing someone very special in my life. Professor Haile is something else. He is a very honest being and he certainly does not take any B.S. (we're in college, why would he) His lectures are geared toward challening the percepectives of his students. He may be a bit too aggressive in his word choices but it resonates through your mind in a positive way. I would definitely recommend him.

Mr.Haile challenges his students. makes sure you have a lot of time to do his work. I loved his lectures and listening to him speak, but he does give a lot of work. I learned a lot but I definitely had to work for my grade.

Mr. Haile is an excellent teacher! Yes, he does tend to rant and say "dirty wordies" so if that bothers you, don't take his class. He expects you to show up to class, and never let's out early. If you do the work, you will be fine. The only problem I have is that i haven't gotten any of my work back. I wish I knew what I could improve on.

He is the most amazing professor I have taken. I am about to graduate from UTSA and I still haven't found a better professor. He will help you grow as a person, and to think differently. He is seriously amazing!!!!!

Its not your average english class for sure. Dont even bother buying the book you wont need it. Take this class with an open mind, you will explore many real life topics. Dont take things personal He is a very good professor I enjoyed his class.

Great teacher , I enjoyed taking his class during summer.

Took this class during Spring '13. It was very interesting. He does cuss a lot, and sometimes goes off topic, and yes he does put students into the spotlight when he brings up a topic. He can be very intimidating at times to where the class can be silent. He hates silence. Very easy homework and tests. I didn't finish my final and I still got an A.

Intelligent. Inspiring. Passionate. Easy on the eyes.

He is an amazing professor. When taking his class you have to open minded, he gives you amazing life lessons and makes you see life differently. Homework is easy. But he does cuss a lot so if you can get over that you will love his class.

The absolute BEST professor at San Antonio College -minus the random f-bombs here and there! Prof. Haile has a passion, its very inspiring! His papers are tough but in the end its worth it. If it wasn't politics, it was music, culture, religion, even history... his wisdom connected it all to English so well, I left each lecture grateful.

Mr. Haile, BEST professor at SAC hands down. He may seem ridged at first.. but look past that and really listen to his lectures.. they get you thinking.. strike a nerve.. might even change you in some way.. but that is what a GREAT prof. does, right? Inspire you. Challenge you. Take the course. You wont regret it! Just DO your work, Its college!!

Please come to this class with a very open mind. He really gets into his lectures. He also hates when students don't participate and will sometimes call you out on your input on the subject. The class each day was a new experience. You hardly use the book, but still you should at least rent it. He also likes to cuss a lot, so be prepared. Sem. 2013

Not gonna lie, he came out strong but is seriously a dam good teacher. not much for a comp person or reading but he was worth it. Hes real easy on the grading, hes more for participation and when you have an assignment or homework just at least turn in something. that something matters even when its not the best or perfect.

Be prepared to be mentally stimulated and challenged. He cussed like a sailor because he was so passionate, so you will never be bored in his lectures. He had a tendency to go off off topic about political issues that had no relevance to the course. Never used a book. He gave out handouts for reading assignments. Overall good professor.

This class was probably one of the best classes after not being in college for seven years. He is amazing, but he is tough. You have to come into this class with an open mind, you need to make sure you do the homework, read the materials he gives you and show up for class. He's a great teacher, just a little tough. I loved this class.

Is a man that likes to put his feelings and opinions out there and wants to be "edgy." Participation is what he enjoys most and has a goal is getting people to see his opinions("expanding their minds.") Honestly a bit over the top in my opinion but still easy class and easy to figure out what he wants.

Professor Haile is probably my most favorite professor. He's not afraid to call you out or speak his opinion. There is never a dull moment in class and you'll learn something new all the time. The work he assigns is a good kind of challenging and you'll see your writing ability improve. Overall he's a great professor who will help you if you ask.

I took his summer class. He assigns a lot of readings and quite a few papers. His lectures are interesting but an acquired taste. If you want to learn, this is a great class but could be tough for people just trying to get by. I would recommend this class for a full semester, the amount of work for a summer class made it rough.

He was the best professor for English at SAC that I ever had. I took three courses with him. People thought I was a masochist for going back. He is the best at running his class though. You will have to work. But every minute is worth it. I loved each one of his classes. Tension and all. You rock Mr. Haile. S Durda

Incredible professor with a great sense of humor. If you show up to class, do the readings and writings, and communicate with him you should be okay. He's a great pick for English 1301 especially if you're an older student. I'm taking him for my English 1302. Register for his class and you won't be disappointed.

Has a great sense of humor. Really knows his stuff. Took him for summer course english 1302. English is easy for me so wasnt hard but did assign a lot of papers and reading. If you can handle the work load he is a great professor and should enjoy his class. Truly cares about his students.

Haile was probably one of the best teachers I've ever had, you can tell that he loves his job. He gives a lot of lectures and talks most of the class, but he makes it entertaining to listen to him. I took him for English 1301 and yeah there was a lot of essays but it wasn't anything that I found uninteresting to write about! Be on his good side!

Mr. Haile is just about the most interesting professor. He pushes students to engage and think outside the box. Time and time again I left the classroom and was left with something to think about. I recommend taking his courses.

I loved his class! If you're lazy, don't take Mr. Haile! If you want to learn he will teach what you need to know and give some life lessons along the way.
