Even if u don't know anything about comps u'll get an easy 90. Online tests, minimal in class tests, all multiple choice and all possible q's w/ a's online. Really easy. Don't HAVE to go to class. Very understanding and compromises. Lectures are clear.

Okay, easier than high school. Mel is awesome though... he made a great class where attendance is not necessary to get a 90! Great for an average booster. Or if you just need an hour nap 3 days a week.
Mel is a man made for students. All his class are great...show up, study a bit and bam..95%+. His intro class is a great way to boost marks for second year tuition money!!

Mel has the a tremendous amount of crediblity with students at LU, because he still cares. He has probably made his own life harder because he cares so much about his quality as a proff. If only every proff had this guy's heart. Extremely clear, concise, helpful, encouraging, and humane. A saint.
Posts the answers to the online and in class tests on his website, before the tests... download them and memorize them and you will be guaranteed a 90+

Easy**** all year .. had high 90's ... then he totally powned us with the exam which dropped all our marks by 10 to 15 %

He is a really nice guy who will go out of his way to help you. If you give him excuses and don't do your work, your marks will reflect it. Boring class, but he's nice and kind of hot.
This class is awesome, you never have to show up. It boosted my avg, take it lol. Get ready for the chomiak attack!
BORING AS HELL....U dont need to show up, cause you dont learn anything. Waste of money pretty much! I would rather my tuition go towards a class that will help my future. This one defintely did not...if i was in the 10th grade...maybe!
Don't go to lecture and do not buy the books new. All you need is the $45 key card. To pass you need to do the online tests on time and show up for the in class tests. If you can take another class, do it, cuz this one isn't worth it.

Decent teacher, can barely hear him when you do go to the lecture. The lectures he screws up often, and talks about false things.
Find a used textbook, buy the $45 key. Read the text do the included quizzes. Almost guaranteed a 90+

He's.. quite a goof. You don't need to go to class, but he does give extra marks for attendance on occassion. It's an easy class, but you tend to just not care about it, because it is really, quite boring, and that's where you lose your marks. ATTEMPT to stay interested, as incredibly hard as it is.
He's a fun and jovial guy who's ever ready to help. So long as you go to class and do your homework, you'll come out with a 100%. Most worthwhile class I took... He's awesome!
He is a nice man, however his class is SO boring! The only reason I went to the lectures is because of the random attendance that he took! The class is a joke!
I took this class because I needed 6 credits of science & I thought this would be the easiest one; I should have taken astronomy. This class is horribly boring, so much so that you don't even want to go, and he doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. Don't e-mail questions unless you understand jibberish. Nice guy, but not meant to be a prof.
A boring class, unless you really love everything about computers. I think that he's a good prof, very nice and at times is very helpful.He takes attendance at random. Take this class if you're not the best at science and you want an easy A.
Absolute joke of a class, no point in going you won't learn anything! Do the online quizzes but don't study from them, he screws you on the exam and nothing is from them...he literally pulls them out of thin air!

His class is a first year class and treats everyone like first year students. Emails (almost daily) marked priority consist of size 20 font in bold red letters. Lectures are boring, hard to hear sometimes. Some incentive to attend with the bonus 5% attendance. Anyone could teach this class but he does it well and seems to enjoy doing it.
really really easy class, all assignments are done at home. one problem is the stupid program used to do the quizzes and tests is so picky the simplest mistake you lose points.

Considering the knowledge most students of this generation have of technology I found the class to be fairly useless. Upon having problems and needing to contact the prof I was responded to rudely as were other students in the class. The class was not per say difficult but the number of online tests were very time-consuming. LONG exam.
The online program used is garbage. Like pure trash. Mel is a neato dude. Hard to understand, class is boring. I don't go. Half of the online stuff doesn't work. But the MyITLab thing is straight whack. Yo. It's super bad but I'd recommend this class for the easiest science credit of your life. yolo
Super boring class. Like others have said it is hard to care enough to show up. Does attendance every other day which only works out to about .05% out of your overall. Myitlab he uses blows and I have failed a few things for stupid reasons such as moving a chart 1/8 inch out of place
Melvin is very boring, and it's hard to muster up the motivation to attend class. However, if you do all of his online tests then you will pass without a doubt.
The sweetest prof ever. Easiest class, but you should attend. He will do anything for his students to pass. Material is easy and if you don't understand he will take time to explain. Loved the prof. If you are a hard working university student, this class is great... Easy A.
Basically just reads the bolded points from the textbook but it has nothing to do with what's on tests because he the textbook people make them. Test questions are pretty easy but there are so many that after the first 50 you get so bored that you stop caring and that's what'll ruin your grade! On the up side, class is only ever like 30 minutes.
Class is extremely boring, but thankfully only lasts about 30 mins. You won't learn anything from attending class. He just recites the bold terms from the text book. Only reason for going to class is for attendance. Tons of online tests but they are super easy! Easy 90% if you do the tests using your textbook for help as you write them.

2 assignments a week, very easy though. I think my lowest grade on an assignment was a 87. Midterm was horrible, even studied the class average was a 55. Assignment are easy grades. Great person but not a very good teacher. Plays with the money in his pocket all class with can get very irritating.
He teaches right from the textbook. The attendance is part of your mark but honestly not worth it. His lectures are 30 minutes (TOPS) but it's straight from the book and he reads right from the powerpoint. However, he gives a lot of assignments which are an easy 90+.
-Lectures were never longer than 30 minutes reading from powerpoints -Doesn't know what he's talking about (asked a student what crowdfunding is - in an e-commerce class) -Very boring -Homework questions 2xweek out of the textbook, marked with no outline whatsoever -No class after the final project (online business product presentation)
Intro to Applications people: This is probably the easiest science credit at this university. As a teacher, Mel is pretty much irrelevant though, it really should just be an online course. His classes were like 15 minutes and he just read from the book. I finished with a 98 in the course, but learned nothing. I am not a techy person either.
Computer science - such an easy course. No idea why it's not an online course. Lectures are never 3 hours. Tops is 1 hour so that's great. He's kinda harsh in a way but honestly he's an adorable old man and if you ever have him as a prof say hello to an easy A
Very interesting class I must say. Just do the work and it'll be an easy A. In fact, this is the second best class I have taken in university in 2 years. This prof is awesome and such an adorable old man. Would definitely recommend his class!!
Awful, literally THE WORST. He is boring and needs to retire, lectures like he is about to drop dead. Reads everything out of the textbook and flips through two units within an hour, does not give any explanation or reasoning. You're better off staying at home and reading the textbook.
Professor Chomiak is probably the most dry lecturer I have ever had. He goes through two units per class in under an hour, when the class is set for 2.5 hours. It's nice to be done class so early, but not nice when he literally goes through 250 slides in the 1 hour so taking notes is IMPOSSIBLE. Do yourself a favour and choose a difference science!
A personable and approachable prof! Willing to answer your questions and nice to talk to in person. The class may be scheduled for 3 hours but lectures take no more than 30 minutes! However, his lectures include reading off of slides. Lots of tests. Don't count on deadlines being pushed. Bonus points for attendance and participation.
60% of the overall grade is online. All answers for the online assignments are online. The final exam is the exact same questions as the online assignments. Easy A. Don't even need to try.
Don't try to email him, he most likely won't respond, and if he does, he doesn't answer the question. Student to prof experience isn't good, conversations didn't help If you have a busy schedule, you won't be able to do the assignments, don't try to extend the due date from 6:00 pm, to 11;59 pm the same night... he won't
Honestly, he is a great guy and very understanding. He's lecture can be dull but overall he is a great teacher. He knows his stuff for sure. He usually answers emails within a day or so. Never had a problem getting help or a response.
Easy class to pass. All assignments are online and multiple-choice and true and false. Both midterms are also online. A bonus of 5% is given if you attend class.

He is a tough grader, unclear speaker, does not care about his students, and treated people like small children. I wouldnt recommend him not even to an enemy!
After reading some of the other ratings I am confused by the low scores. He was very clear, thorough and if you found him dull, you obviously find the subject the same. Don't take a tech course if you find computers boring. Every email was returned promptly and he was flexible when there was good reason. I would definitely take another course.
I really enjoyed his classes. He was clear and concise while hitting home on the important points. I found he skipped the fluff. He was accessible when needed and returned emails faster than the average professor I had. Good guy, very good professor and went the extra mile for me when I needed help.
My computer skills are quite low and I needed extra help. He was very giving of his time and I found his teaching very clear.
