nOT WORTH YOUR TIME!!

This is the absolute worst teacher I ever had. It took 3 weeks to receive papers back and they had barely any costructive critcism. Also, during a face-to-face meeting she insulted me and my paper, she is also very arrogant and paranoid. I ended up dropping this class because of the poor teacher

class was difficult to understand. i love to write but this was rediculous.

She is aweful. I had her as a workshop helper and she blew balls. She told me i made up my paper and just degraded my work. She is very arrongant like she is gods right hand **** or something. She sweats when she reads you papers too, kinda gross

Never responds to emails, never posts deadlines, very dissatisfied.

When I had her she had us read "The World Is Flat" and the only things she ever talked about was that book and how hard it is to pass the class. She RARELY talks about writing, and it took her a MONTH to edit my paper WHEN I HANDED IT IN ON TIME!. POOR CHOICE, YOU'LL REGRET IT!!!

don't take her. she seems nice at first but all she talks about is how hard the class is.shes very unorganized.i have her for an online class and she requires 3 Face-to-Face meetings. takes forever to respond to emails, questions. when she does answer questions she beats around the bush. says nothing possitive about you or your work.FRUSTRATING!!!!

Worst teacher I have ever had. Delayed grading, little constructive criticism, absolutely no positive feedback, highly disorganized, and little to no instruction. Waste of time and money, and I enjoy writing; recv'd a 4.0 in Writ121. I am seriously considering never taking another course at LCC because of this experience.

Horrible professor. I had her for Writ 121 online for only about three weeks and then had to drop the class. She never responds to emails, I tried meeting with her and she didn't come! I left a note in her office to contact me and she never did. I would not recommend her.

awful teacher, like every one else said beware!! she NEVER even critiqued my papers and I never received grades for the other assignments that I completed in class. Good Luck if you choose her!!

This teacher is HORRIBLE, she by herself turned me away from LCC. She is not of any help ever and doesnt make any sense. She passed me in 121 with a 2.0 and expected me to kiss her feet. I transferred to Oakland University and received a 3.7 in my first writing course and the teacher loved my material. This teacher will ruin you.

This teacher was awful. I made it through the entire semester thinking I was doing all right only to find out three days before the essays were due that my essay would fail. She told me one of my two essays would fail because her colleagues would "think I was black." Never found my teacher critiques till she showed me where she hid them online.

This professor is aweful. I took her writing class online, and she was very difficult to get ahold of for any questions, and she didn't prepare us at all for the portfolio. I cannot say through this whole experience that I learned anything. Don't take a class with Mel, she is horrible!

She never made sense, there were frequently errors in her instructions leading to confusion for everyone in the online class until she sent a correction days later.

I took this class online and by the end of the class I was the only student remaining. She didn't like when I wrote about stuff that went against what she believed. (ie. I wrote that I didn't like tenure.) I would rather rub a cheese grater across my face than take another class with this woman.

I would never take a class from her again. Not helpful,arrogant,slow at grading and if she doesn't like your portfolio she won't submit it and you end up taking a 1.5 no matter how how hard you worked. She was worthless.

Horrible teacher. Confuses every student with every comment she makes. Lies about what she wants. Tells you to do one thing, then the next day says "no, I don't want this." very rude. calls people names. Does not clarify what she wants or when papers are due. Assigns work online, without telling students its posted. I would never recommend her!!!

AWFUL!! I enrolled in her class online, and I had to drop the class within a week. She is terrible at responding to messages, her responses use terrible grammar and spelling, she expects her students to log on 7 days a week, has an assignment due 5 days a week, and even had assignments due on HOLIDAYS! Please do not sign up for this professor!!

I'm not even finished with my first week of being in her class and I already have two zeroes because she is very difficult to get ahold of and did not clarify any question I asked in the e-mails she responded to.

Assigns WAY too much work, as if she thinks no one has lives or other classes. Very unorganized. Very confusing about where to post assignments. Rude when you ask for help. Required text book was different from what Lcc website said. Will not answer emails on weekends. I do not suggest her class to anyone, unless you want to drop it or fail.

Awful instructor. Was not helpful when it came to anything in the class. Takes weeks or more to respond to emails.Harsh grader and acts as if students are stupid. Was very confusing. Expected a lot of work to be done in a little amount of time. I got sick about half way through the semester and she was not very helpful or understanding to my situation and didn't give me the help I needed. A lot of the course I spent on my own hoping I was doing it right.

ABSOLUTELY horrible. Does not care about the students. The students are A LOT more responsible than she is. She made an appointment with me and she never showed up or answered my emails or calls. Cares more about her food than students. Why does she even teach at LCC? I think its best for everyone if she retired.

Worst professor I've ever had. I took the online version of this class and the class started out with around 25 students. By the last day of class, there were only 4 students remaining in the class. She would abandon the class for 2 weeks, then randomly post a paper at 8pm, due the next day at 10am. AVOID taking her, you will regret it.

Talking to my friends who have taken this same class with a different professor, they would laugh when they see the essays and other assignments in this class. Makes the class much more difficult than it needs to be. We sit in class everyday doing things completely irrelevant to our assignments. Takes her weeks to grade papers, bad experience.

She is very confusing and hard to follow, gives different directions every class period for the same thing, usually be late to class. The assignments are not organized, will ask when things are due, her response.. "The syllabus," jokes on us.. The syllabus was never posted. She degrades teachers who make you buy the book.. She is one of them

This prof. was the worst I have ever had. She assigns long papers, gives unclear directions, and never gives a clear explanation of what she is expecting from you. She will not respond to your emails and is less than helpful when asked for assistance. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER

Mel was the worst professor I've ever had and definitely the worst person I've ever met. She was incredibly rude, unorganized and unfair. She called people names and made students cry. She never got her feedback to you so you didn't know how to improve and if she didn't like your topic, she failed you - even if the paper was good. She is the devil.

AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS. SHE DOESN'T HAVE A TERRIBLE RATING ON HERE FOR NO REASON. Very tough grader, very unclear instructions. If you don't understand her weird wording and riddles in her instructions, you will fail the class. We had an online class of 50 students, by the end there were only 14 students still in the class!

I am currently taking Mel's online Writing 121 class, assignments are due every Monday and Wednesday and each assignment has at least 3 parts to it and each part takes at least 20 minutes. If you take this class prepare to spend a lot of time working on her assignments and essays. content is tough as well. and grading for essays is tough

Does not give enough time to complete assignments. She is not very helpful when you ask her questions. Also she takes a very long time to respond to emails.

do not take this class. she acts like her class is all that matters and there is so much homework/reading on discussions. you will get lost because there's no specific instructions on any work for the papers.

Super vague homework questions and essays. All over very challenging and arbitrary subjects. Grades essays sentence by sentence without reading the whole thing first to understand it and leaves rude demeaning comments. just over all bad. Take literally any other class and spare your self especially if you have her online.

Mel does not teach you how to write an essay, however, that is how she grades. This is a basic writing course but she expects way too much. I have never been so lost in a class and I am a student who learns after one bad grade. My first essay wasn't even graded until after I had submitted the second one. HORRIBLE DO NOT TAKE.

Horrible class, cryptic instructions buried in word documents. I managed a 4.0, I am not sure how based on the lack of feedback. Didn't receive essay 1 feedback until I had submitted my second essay. Told to go to online tutor and then when I met with her she slammed them for not being educated and it was obvious I had been led astray by them.

Mel is a very nice person, not a great teacher. She doesn't offer clear guidance even if you ask very direct questions. This was the most miserable English class I have ever taken in my entire life. World Literature online with her is legitimately the worst class I've ever taken. Just for starters she: changes most due dates by several days, doesn't grade for weeks (exam one was not graded until after exam 2 was due), grades very harshly (class averages around 50%), writes very confusing assignments, and is unhelpful when emailed for help.

Absolutely the worst professor I have ever had. She doesn't respond to emails, and if she does she is as vague as humanly possible with any assignment help. She doesn't grade for weeks, changes around assignment dates, and can't write her own syllabus and rubrics anywhere near the level she expects of students. Grammar issues,&unclear instructions.

This "professor" does not teach. She copies and pastes material from elsewhere, even personal emails, to use as "teaching." Her unclear instructions are exacerbated by her poor grammar. If you ask her for clarification, she'll point you to a third-party source, if she doesn't confuse you further. She gives no examples and does not care about you.

Worst class ver taken. Does not help you succeed at all, which is very weird because that is what she gets paid to do. Very one sided class, never went into detail about anything. Possibly the hardest most pointless grader ever. You could write a perfect essay and there is no way that it would get a 100%. Grade for teaching skills: F, big F.

Dont take any classes with Mel. She doesnt answer emails of questions fully if at all. She grades her papers like you are in a graduate program and the only sources that are credible for your papers need to be from a Ph.D. Shes more focused on you addressing her as professor than educating her students constructively.

TERRIBLE. Do NOT take ANY classes with Mel. Does not answer your questions sent by email or during class. posts assignments the day before it is due with very little instructions. Does not talk about assignments until they are due. Gives zero clarification on how to do anything and does not explain what we need to do in the description. Terrible!!!

DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING WITH MEL she did not teach our class any English/writing instead taught us the history of Indigenous Americans and then expected us to know how to write a perfect essay without being taught. She did not teach us ANY English or writing, but lied and said that she did. got mad at students easily for no reason DO NOT TAKE

The worst teacher/professor I've ever had in my life. She provides absolutely no help online, therefore you must talk to her in person, and even with her "help", things do not get any easier or more understanding. Tough grader, and when you ask for guidance she gives only smart a** answers. Save yourself the stress and choose a better professor.

Idek how to explain this professor. She seems very passionate about writing however she sets unrealistic standards for her students. She works with you but the primary sources she uses are insane and she takes a lot of time grading stuff... I have a 90% in this class, but it might drop with the last paper. Just be prepared for lots of work.

RUN! She gives you a 3 PAGE LIST of words/phrases that you're banned from using in your writing. It'd be one thing if it consisted of slurs or profanity, but it was full of normal language like “etc” or “in conclusion”. This class's CRAZY writing guidelines had me wanting to pull a Cobain, but instead, I pulled a Snoop and dropped it like it's hot.

Mel was anything but an English teacher. Extremely hard to know what exactly she wanted from us. Turned the whole class into an Indigenous peoples class. Wanted us to write about tribes in michigan and base it on our major. Huh? Doesn't make any sense and then asked us to tell her what we thought our grade should be. Not fun

The worst English professor or teacher I've had, English is my best subject and I've never gotten below an A in it before, grades way too harsh, extremely demanding about the sources used, even when it's impossible to relate indigenousness to your topic of study with her guidelines. A comparison on Michigan Schools curriculum on environmental issues compared to Schools in Michigan that partner with Native Americans on environmental issues. What? Exactly! I could write a more scathing review if the word count wasn't 350. Don't enroll or drop the class, save your energy.

Genuinely does nothing. Do not take an online course with her. Takes forever to grade assignments, never replies to emails and when she does it's one dry vague sentence. Has ridiculous standards for her students yet has a typo on almost every assignment posting. We have presentations due in SIX DAYS and she has yet to post the assignment details.

This professor made the entire class about Indigenous people. Every assignment had at least something to do with it. She speaks like she's a philosopher and it's extremely difficult to understand her expectations. She doesn't answer her email and if she does, its 1 sentence. SAVE YOURSELF THE MISERY AND DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS.

Super frustrating class. I was on board with the materials assigned in class although it was different than what I was expecting in a Gender-Literature class. My frustration is due to lack of coherent instruction and feedback on assignments being unhelpful. Assignments not graded in a timely manner to get an idea of what she was looking for.

Horrible class and professor. Has outlawed words, which are all very common words and not easy at all to replace. Very descriptive assignments make them very confusing, as they are multiple pages long. I am a top A student and had a horrible time. 1 misunderstanding at the end of the semester took me from a 90 to a 76. gives no feedback. RUN!
