Melanie Klein is a very cool professor. For those who want a class that you can stay awake in take classes with Melanie.

Awesome class--interesting and thought provoking. There is a lot of writing but it helps a bunch!

I took Soc 150, 202 with her and she really becomes a friend. Just go to class, study and make sure she knows your name. You actually learn soc and see the world in a soc way.(lol) She also is a fair gradeder and an easy B or A.

You'd be amazed at how much you learn in the class! She is not totally easy. I mean if you work hard and do your best, it will be easy. If you expect miracles, you shouldn't be in college! She helps because she cares about her students by giving extra chances, how can anyone complain, she's the BEST

Get ready for a lot of written assignments. She's super cool and hot! She doesn't lecture too much on the so not interesting subject of social variance. Group work, is a huge part of your grade and an essay final.

Very nice and very hot!!!!! You will do allot of writing. The final group project is very confusing and her lecture does not help. However she is a cool teacher and an easy grader.

She is great and understanding. Definitely knows her stuff. The only complaint I have is that she is so repetitive, it's time for some new material!! But... easy, nice, pretty, and funny. You'll do fine if you go to class and do the work, seriously!

Self Centered and like others say, will have favorites. Talks about ****s and organic tampons, personal TMI, etc. Two big papers some small quizzes. Doesnt stick to the syllabus, will burn out and omit assignments at the end of the semester. If you arent keen on taking womens studies, dont take this.

She's a great teacher! She does tend to play favorites but as long as you do the work required you should be fine. She covered some really interesting topics and I loved every minute of her class.

very cool and very smart! she says some of the funniest things i have ever heard! the book is a mandatory bc her lectures are kind of off topic most of the time, but the text book is really clear and an easy read! easy tests and easy papers! cant wait to take her for next sem!

Very smart woman! Her lectures are interesting and informative. She is very strongly point of view but has the info to back it up. Test require studying, and ya gotta do the reading, but she is a really easy person to listen to so the lectures are very enjoyable. I loved this class !

I loved this professor. She makes the class interesting and relates the topics to real life to make it easy to understand. She makes the lectures fun and tells a lot of random funny stories. As long as you pay attention during class and read the book, you'll do fine. Participating in class helps too. Definitely recommended.

Class and method is very interesting. I would say attendance is a must, she will not allow make up quizzes. Pay attention to what will be on quiz, because it will be. Overall interesting class, and she is really down to earth. Papers seem long and dull but they become fairly easy because they become so interesting. I had lots of fun.

There is lots of reading that you must keep up with, tests are fair, and there were two 5-7 page papers. I learned a lot of interesting things in this class and i'd probably take her again. it's a tough class though, don't say i didn't warn you. to the people below saying negative things: grow up, you're in college.

At first i thought it would b cool to have a teacher that seems to b on the level. the truth is she rants for 50 min. and only 5 min. of the lecture are worth listening to. Preaches and rant for most of the class. Try to get on her favorites list and you got an A.

Wow. A lot of animosity around here! She's a tough teacher. If you aren't willing to do the work - and thereby learn the material - you will have a hard time in any class; not just hers. People that don't want to do the work usually have a chip on theie shoulders regarding their grades. Clearly, this is no exception.

Shes a great teacher and although she definetly discusses her personal life i think its her way of keeping 75 students interested. Work in this class not hard and the tests aren't hard if you study with the study guide she gives you. overall i thought she was a lot of fun and it wasn't a hard class!

I don't understand all the animosity here.I thought she was a fair & interesting professor, learned alot about culture's effects on society, & how culture influences how we interact with each other. If you do the work & participate in class, you'll get a good grade. If not, them expect to do poorly. Got an A, took class Winter 2007.

THIS PROFESSOR MAKES CLASS FUN AND EASY. HER LECTURES ARE JUST IN CLASS DISCUSSIONS AND SHE GIVES OUT A BUNCH OF EXTRA CREDIT THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER. OUR FINAL WAS A TAKE HOME ESSAY AND WE ONLY HAVE TWO TESTS ALL SEMESTER. I DEFINETELY RECOMMEND HER!!

She is such a easy professor. She is really helpfull if you go to her office hours she will help you.We have a couple of quizzes and we have a study guide due every friday it's really easy and no final of midterm.Take her she gives tons of extra credit.

I definitely recommend her! She was so much fun and always talked about her life, everyone in the class could relate to her. The class is easy, with easy little assignments and a 50 question test here and there that takes like 10 minutes to do each time. I HIGHLY recommend her, you'll look forward to every class!

She is a great professor, but you need to study for her class. She didnt show up half the time so a lot of her lectures were pushed together so we would not be far behind. She does exam reviews before the test for extra credit. Final was a breeze, but trust me STUDY STUDY STUDY

Take her class, an easy A. Yes you do need the book, all of the test questions are from the chapters.

Outstanding professor. She was very helpful, I started the semester with zero understanding of the subject matter. I requested a tutor and she provided me with an excellent tutor on the subject. I managed to ace the class to the point that I only needed a fifty % on my final to get an A. (I got a 100% on the final thanks to her choice of tutors)

Excellent teacher. Very clear with her expectations and never one to throw things at you last minute. Her assignments are simple, but if you don't do them it'll hurt you in the end. Just do your work and pay attention and you will do great. Overall I really enjoyed the class when I wasn't interested i the subject in the beginning.

Nice professor. Learned a lot from her. Very clear on what she expects, usually has a guest lecturer every other week. Take good notes for quizzes. No paper, but about 500 word discussions due nearly every week, plus readings. A presentation final. She did miss a couple classes, letting us know sort of last minute. You do work for an A, but doable!

It was fairly easy to do well in the class. That being said you definitely have to put in the work to receive an A. Keep up with the weekly postings and review well for the quizzes. Follow the guidelines for the two big papers in the class and you will be fine. Midterm and final. She is easy to understand, speaks ideas clearly. Great soc professor!

Great professor! Very clear, funny, and always makes class interesting, makes you think and always challenges you. Tests are fair, she provides a study guide and has review sessions. The textbook is also interesting. If I wasn't already so deep into my major, I would have probably switched majors. I recommend taking her for this class.

I took her Race & Ethnicity course at CI and loved every minute of it. She's hilarious, brilliant, and an overall great professor. She used real life examples to illustrate concepts and showed relevant and interesting videos in class. Also, her quizzes were very straight-forward and midterms were identical. I highly recommend her courses to anyone!

Easiest class at CSUN. 2 chances to do the quizzes, if you are smart you will take the first one just to find out the questions and then look up answers. Tests are straight from the quizzes. If you can't get an A in this class you have a problem.

I loved everything about race and ethnicity with Prof. Klein. To me, she exemplifies how college courses should be taught.

She is literally the best sociology educator ive had at CSUN! She relates every concept to everyday life and makes it entertaining so that you actually want to learn! Her quizzes are not hard if you read and pay attention. She helps with a review right before the exam and is really awesome! Recommend her to everyone! :)

I can honesty say that I was worried about this class on the first day but vy the second day of class i was hooked. I love the class because of her. She has so much passion for what she does. She is very helpful and energetic and truly cares for her class and her students

Amazing professor wished more professors at csun would teach like her! You have to go to class and read the chapters to do good on the quiz however all the test questions will be fom quiz! Professor Klein is very passionate about this subject which makes this class super interesting. She lectures, gives quizzes once a week, online responses once a week, reading assignments, 2 exams and an essay. Easy work but lots of tedious work. Interesting class, highly recommended.

Awesome professor! She's very clear in her lectures. Show up and you should be fine. If you miss a lecture, it's hard to do well on the quizzes because there is a lot of information to make up. Required reading as well, but it's not too bad. Other than that, she is very passionate about the subject and keeps you interested. I highly recommend!

Very passionate and it shows. She really cares about her students and how much they learn from this class. She assigns us a lot of writing discussions and gives us a quiz once a week. The discussions have to be long and you do have to study for the quizzes but put your best effort in and you'll get an A. I got a lot out of taking this class!

Professor Klein is probably the if not one of the best professors at CSUN. I took her for a Friday morning class, and made it easy for me to stay awake in her class. This class consists of a few quizzes and exams (which she gives a study guide beforehand), HW assignments, and a term paper. I would recommend Klein for any Sociology class at CSUN.

Professor Klein is one of the best professors at CSUN. I wish she taught more classes, I would definitely take her. She is very clean on what she needs from her students and anyone following her guidelines can pass with an A. I passed her class with an A- because I was absent twice and missed 2 quizzes. Overall she is a great professor and easy A.

Shes a great teacher! There are "discussions" every week. This is a hybrid course. so you meet once a week for lecture and then you have online discussions, which are worth 22pts. and will add up in the end. There are 22 discussions, and they are pretty time consuming, but not hard. 9 easy quizzes. 2 exams. 1 paper. I DEFINITELY recommend the class

I took her hybrid class. A LOT of online discussions but as long as you have a basic understanding of the assigned reading, AND meet the word count requirement, then it's easy. She gave us a few take home quizzes, and there is a final 6-7 page paper based off a short book you have to read. She is enthusiastic about the subject and knows it well.

You have to put a lot of time into weekly discussions and weekly quizzes but honestly, this class was an easy A. the quizzes are all based on the notes you take in class, but you must master the notes before taking the quizzes. she is so passionate about the subject and she made GWS110 such an interesting class.

Professor Klein is awesome as well as passionate about SOC! Her "Culture and Personality" class was very interesting and her lectures are always engaging! I can guarantee you'll learn something new every day. Don't be afraid to talk either because she encourages class discussion! TAKE HER!!

She's incredible. My mind was blown every time I left her class. Need the Edles book (the orange one) but not the other one, so don't bother getting it. Really interesting class. She's there for help if you need it, and appreciates participation in class. I'm definitely taking another class with her! Exams are exact wording of quizzes. TAKE HER.

Take her! There are a lot of assignments to turn in but they are very easy. I did not even purchase the book, I finished with an A-. The quizzes are not hard if you study and the exam is very easy all you have to do is study the quizzes because it's the exact same questions. I recommend taking her. YOU WILL PASS.

I don't usually write reviews, but when you come across an amazing teacher It deserves recognition. Her down to earth personality & passion for the subject truly makes the class unique. She's very clear about the material that will be covered on the quizzes and tests, and prepares you for it through lectures. Do all the work & you'll learn a lot.

Her class is easy. 11 quizzes but for the most part they are all take home and the answers are mostly online. The final is an essay about a chapter book you read at your own pace throughout the semester. About 3 short assignments based on movies you watch in class. Attendance is important bc she hands out the take home quiz at the end.

Take her class! I took her class in Fall and yes you need ALL 3 textbooks and you do use every single one! She does about 11 quizes, but a lot are take home. She also shows a few videos in class and assigns assignments for them which are not hard. Ex.(answer questions about the video you saw). No midterm. Her final is an essay based on the book.

Take her, you'll love her. she's the best honestly, it's my second time taking class with her and she's great. her hybrid class is easy but there a lot of writing which is about 500 words which isn't too bad. She does not give any tests which is the best place, only 3 quizzes throughout the whole semester and the final is an essay.

I took her online class so I never met her. Most weeks are two forum posts and one quiz. Forums are 550 words each but they are great topics and alot are based on your own opinions and she seems to always give full credit. There is one 6 page book report due the last week but an outline is given and it's a great book/easy read! Not hard to get an A

Full feminist and I love it. Her class was amazing and I learned so much. She made you feel so powerful with her lectures. Weekly quizzes but as long as you took notes and payed attention you'll be fine. There is a book report due at the end of the semester but she gives you a clear layout of what she expects from it. AMAZING class! I learned so much with Professor Klein, her lectures were so educational, interesting, and inspiring. She is a full feminist and it really shows, but it really adds to her charm. Professor Klein is wonderful. Yes, there is a decent amount of reading and writing required to do well in this course. However, Professor Klein is very passionate, communicative, and explicit about what she expects. The reading material is interesting, while the class discussions are engaging.

Lectures are interesting and she makes sure to engage students. There is a lot of reading. Grade is based on quizzes, essays, and hw assignments. The final is an essay about the assigned book. I came to the class not expecting to enjoy it. The lectures were clear and fun. Participate in discussions in the class because it helps you understand material better. Very inspirational. There are readings, but they are easy to understand. Overall I would recommend you to take professor Klein for women's studies.

Honestly, one of my favorite classes I've taken at CSUN. The class is extremely easy. There is a lecture quiz once a week that is easy if you've taken notes. There are also a few simple assignments other than that. Professor Klein is a really cool professor and her class is very empowering and interesting.

Absolutely fantastic. Shes the reason why I went from a Deaf Studies and Theatre double major to a Deaf Studies and Gender Womens Studies double major. So so amazing. Every discussion is due on Saturday and every quiz is due Sunday. As long as your discussion has meaning and an opinion youre good to go.

Weekly discussion posts (20 pts/550-650 word count), two feminism/t essays (5-6pgs), final research feminism paper (8-9 pgs). Point-based system. Held optional zoom meetings about once a month. Posted weekly readings on relevant and interesting material. A passionate and caring professor who encouraged us to explore feminsim.

You will read a ton every week of posted articles + 4 books over semester (3 short &1 long for final paper) 1-2 Weekly discussions around 700-800 word counts for each for As. 3 papers. No exams. Great professor. this class will really help you develop your writing skills. Found class inspiring + informative! Great information + interesting reads.

A lot of reading but it was doable. The class is interesting and she gives clear feedback. I appreciated her organization in the class and she grades all assignments in a timely manner. I highly recommend Professor Klein.

Lots of reading and writing. She has zoom lectures/meetings once or twice a month. It's more of an independent study course.

If you take her online class, it is very manageable to do her assignments. She gives 1-2 Discussions and sometimes video quizzes per week due every sunday. She has 3 long papers but I find that if you meet the minimum requirements for all she will give you full credit. You can get ahead and possibly finish before finals week.

Love taking Professor Klein. Definitely an easy A if you like discussions 550 -650 words. It is as long as you read the small article she gives not a tough grader at all. there are 26 discussions 6 video quizzes super easy and 2 papers that you have to read small books for. Will definitely take her again if I can.

Dr. Klein is an amazing professor and I very much enjoyed her course. She is a very easy grader. As long as you follow the instructions listed, you will get an A. But, there is quite a bit of homework to do in her course. Multiple discussions per week as well as two 9-12 page essays at the end of the course. But, they aren't too difficult.

Great professor and her teaching is very effective. Lectures are not based on slide presentations but rather her talking which makes it much easier to understand. Homework is pretty heavy as there are 1-2 discussion posts every week with 500 words minimum for each. Finals are based on essays and some books are required. Overall easy and fun class!

She is nice and understanding. Lots of work in the beginning. You technically do not need to attend by you will have paper in class quizzes that rely heavily on what she lectured in class. Easy if you pay attention. Lots of reading though.

Professor Klein's class is engaging and inspiring. While the readings and assignments are substantial, her lectures make the material easier to understand. unstuck AI was a helpful study tool alongside the textbook. Overall, a great class that I'd recommend taking.
