she's so funny. she's young and makes you feel more at ease. make sure you do all the projects and participate. she's not a hard grader but you have to some work into it. she makes class fun and there are always discussions. she's really nice and offers alot of extra credits. she's so cool!

She doesn't believe in work just for the sake of work, so all of the assignments are interesting and have a purpose. Do the work and you'll be fine!

Melanie was phenomenal! I highly recommend her as a teacher for anyone thinking of sociology/women's studies. Her personal anecdotes contribute richness to the content in the class and I picked up more in 6 weeks from her than I did in high school. Her clarity is excellent and you should never hesitate to ask for help. She was unforgettable.

I don't know, i thought she was ok at firts, but after all that lecture everyday and homework and projects and he rhard tests, I didn't do so well. She may be cool in a ways but if you don't turn in one assignment, that's it. you fell behind! and so did your grade! I would look for another teacher! I dropped her class halfway.

If you do all of your work and study all the terms from the study guide there is no reason for anyone to not be able to get an A. Her tests are somewhat difficult, but if you get a solid B, she will bump you up to an A by offering extra credit points. In my opinion, this class wasnt difficult at all.

HEAVY amounts of work during Summer semester. Quiz every day I felt a strange sense of accomplishment after the all the work. She will collect hw every day.In-depth viewpoints on feminism and gender studies. There are A LOT of (grading) points in this class. You will need to stay on top of every assignment.

I love this class! Honestly I wasn't to interested in Soc until this class. She makes the material fun and interesting. Just pay attention, read, and study the study guide and you will get an A! Trust me it's fun! Oh yes....participate!

This is a smokin hot, professor, who has fun, "gimme point," assignments and who's test are easy as long as you study the study guide really well. I didn't work too hard, I learned a lot, and I got an A, what more can you ask 4?

very challenging work but i was so passionate about the subject i didn't care how difficult it seemed; i ended up doing very well in this class. i recommend this class to EVERYONE. she made me love women's studies. i'm at a university now & i'm considering majoring or minoring in it. :D

Mel is HOT. This is an easy class if you're interested and you know how to write. Attendance is mandatory because she gives quizzes almost every class. Assignments are straightforward and easy-- she isn't a hard grader. I got over 100% for the 1st half of the semester until I started skipping. Easy A. Interesting lectures. Take her! I learned a lot

her way of journal grading is somewhat okay, I never read the book but wrote all the lecture notes and my thoughts of it and still got a B on every journal that I wrote. (but there won't be any journal writing, well that's what she said) her stomach is getting bigger, she favors some students from the previous class, very knowledgeable

she knows exactly what she's talking about and there were many times i walked out from that class saying, 'WOW this girl knows what she's talking about' her passion is very strong when talking about women's rights. she's pretty dope and you learn lots of things.

Lectures are very engaging, assignments are minimal, participation is required, tests are both off of lectures and the textbook but she gives you a study guide. This class is an easy A and Prof Klein is an exceptional teacher for this course.

Klein is a great teacher. She is passionate about her subject, relates the subject matter to stories about her own life, which makes the class entertaining. VERY helpful and encouraging to students who take an interest, respects people who speak their opinions, but she also holds you accountable for the information, great teacher, fun class!

She's intimidating at first because of all the work she assigns but she turned out to be cool and easy. Some of the projects turned out to be extra credit. I think everyone in the summer session got an A. She's a chill professor and the subject and don't be scared to approach her. She's nice.

She is so funny and her lectures are very engaging! You can't help but listen and learn. She cancelled class a lot, and when I was absent I did not fall behind. Make sure to read the book for the tests- it really helps. Always attend the study guide pre-exam class also since the questions she asks are pretty much on the test!

Very interesting topics. She covers women in pop culture and the way it affects our generation. I learned so much and it was fun also. However her assignments (which are online blog posts) become very tedious after a while. Overall though she is a great teacher!

Took the class in summer: 4 exams, 2 essays, 4 small group-assignments. There is a review before each quiz, not much reading, not much homework, several movies shown. Professor Klein is very collegial, discloses lots of personal stories that relate to the topics, which makes it very interesting and entertaining. Just come to class, very easy A.

This class changed my life! If you're willing to do the work,and show up on time, you are in for a good time. Great material, and lecture style. Highly entertaining and informative. I would have never described myself as a feminist, prior to taking this course, but now take pride in it, wherever I go.

Awesome teacher! You will learn a lot of interesting stuff in her class. Basically all you need to do is post some blogs and take some quizes and all she goes over all the answers in her lectures. The final was a group project which was pretty fun much better than a test. She also gives extra credit opportunities which is always nice!

This class is very intense and you are suppose to do a lot of work to pass this class. Although the reading assignments is a lot for a week the books are interesting. YESS you will need all 3 books to pass the class. At the end of the semester you need to come up with an event to put with your group. But overall she is a great professor!!

Prof Klein is an amazing teacher. She's very clear and concise. There is homework posts online every week and then eases out a bit toward the end of the semester. There's a group project and quizzes. I got an A. She gives lots of extra credit! Definitely recommended!

By far the best sociology professor taken hands down! Consist of 4 exams, 10 quizzes, some HW, rarely some in-class assignments. Final not cumulative, and offers plenty of extra credit opportunities. She hands out study guides for exams. SHE IS GREAT! TAKE HER!

She is very clear in terms of what to expect on the quizzesexams. Lectures are really helpful. A little tough because you do have quizzes every week however, very helpful because in a way you are forced to study if you want to pass that is. In general very good professor.

As long as you do every online response (she gives about one or two a week) you'll pass the class. We take quizzes, not tests, and reflections are pretty easy. She's a really passionate professor, which always makes me want to go to class. Take her if you want to learn AND get a good grade pretty easily.

I took Professor Klein during the summer for Sociology and took her during the Fall for Women Studies 10 and will be taking her in the Spring for Women Studies 30. This should say a lot. Professor Klein is simply amazing!!!!!! It should be mandatory to take a class with her at SMC. To be honest, SMC she feel honored to have a great professor!!!!!

I took sociology before and i got a horrible grade with another smc professor, which made me resent sociology, but Prof. Klein made me fall in love with sociology. I appreciate sociology so much and i look up to her, she is a wonderful professor, very clear, helpful, and her lectures rock. She will keep you entertained and engaged! highly recomm.

No exams. No final. A few easy and straight to the point quizzes. She makes it incredibly clear what's going to be on each quiz. There is a lot of homework, and none of it is really difficult. She's funny, inspirational, and passionate, but of course there are some negatives. Sometimes lectures are a bit boring. Alas, great teacher, and easy A.

Klein sets you up for success! NO TESTS & only weekly quizzes that should be easy A's because she lectures from them & gives you the answers. I was one of the only guys in the class who walked in with zero knowledge on the subject and walked away with a life-changing perspective on life. I learned so much, one of my favorite scholar classes/profs.

Professor Klein is a great instructor and she's very passionate. She relates to all the students and gives us a clear understanding of women in the popular culture. If you are not interested in woman studies don't take woman studies 30 as a GE course. It is time intensive and there's a lot to learn.

Need required and recommended books. 20 online discussion post 550+ words based on lectures and readings. Yes a lot of reading, most of it is interesting. 1 fairly easy creative project. 4 easy quizzes (match,T/F,MC) Study ur notes! 1 final paper at least 7 pages. She is funny and very knowledgeable. Took it to fill an elective but I learned a lot!

I really enjoyed this professor. She was hilarious and her lessons were very easy-going. None of her lectures felt like they were dragging on. She went exactly to the point so you know what is important and isn't. For the textbooks, you need to buy 3 but you really only end up using one, the book for the final essay. I recommend her, she's awesome!

I took professor Klein in Spring 2016 and she's a great professor that explains sociology in a way that you can relate to it. She is just an overall great person that is kind and funny. She definitely got me to think of the bigger issues in life. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you want an easy class that you actually learn about!

I've taken Professor Klein multiple times and I really love how relaxed her style of teaching is. If you have even a cursory interest in feminism and women's rights, you'll find her class to be engaging. If you're not interested in feminism it doesn't make any sense to take this class and complain. Go take accounting or something.

This professor is a true gem. She has such an amazing heart and was so funny throughout the semester. Professor's class was a breeze as long as you showed up to class. Professor is always engaging in class as her stories from back in her time made the class laugh. She's truly the best. Take her if you can especially if you're in scholars.

For the winter session, you are only graded on 13 quizzes( 15 points each), 2 papers which are only 3 pages long( 50 points each), three exams( 100 points), attendance, and participation(50 points total, a group assignment(20 points), and about 4 discussions (20 points each)on Canvas

Amazing woman, so genuine and caring. The class was great, so interesting too. I'm an arts major, and I loved it. She genuinely wants her students to succeed. I learned so much, and it definitely enhances your view of the world. It was also interesting reading stuff from my classmates, and all of their different perspectives. Overall a 10/10 class!

I had Klein during the winter semester and she was such a funny and lively person. The lectures are really long and tiring though. But grade wise it's not necessarily an easy A but you have to be pretty lazy not to do well in the class. She's very understanding and I really did enjoy her class.

I absolutely loved this class. While it is a lot of reading & discussion posts (550 min word count), it was really insightful and gave me new perspectives on sex and gender. Every topic was so interesting. The only reason I won't end the semester with an A+ is bc I fell a little behind but it's a pretty easy class to pass.

This class was pretty easy but did have a lot of writing. Every week consisted of 1 or 2 discussions and sometimes a quiz. Had to read 2 books that both had an essay at the end of the year. All the weekly quizzes and midterms answers were on Quizlet. As long as you reach word count and reply to 2 classmates in the discussions, she will give 100%.

Easy A and also covers very interesting and relevant material! Very cool variety of books for this class including a comic. Overall, super easy as long as you do the work and follow the instructions and deadlines.

EASY A+. TAKE THIS COURSE! fully online and asynchronous. The entire grade is made up of 20 discussion posts and only 1 final paper (6-7 pages). Discussion posts are SO EASY. All you have to do is post your response to the prompt and respond to 2 people per week. Did the final paper in 1 hour, and prof graded it to 100% in 1 day. Would take again.

SO much to write but discussions are very easy and I do not think she reads anything including the two essays at end of semester. All quizzes are online. Very easy scholars course

Really easy scholars class! Basically about 20 discussion posts, 10 easy quizzes, and 2 essays. Everything was easy and simple. Only negative was that assignments were due throughout the week rather than on Sundays (like most online classes) so you do have to consistently keep an eye on the calendar and due dates.

Weekly discussion posts (600 words min), weekly quizzes (20 multiple choice), one final essay (as long as you meet 6 page requirement you'll get a 90%+). Very doable class with generative AI, thats all I'll say. "A"

Theres a lot of assignments but they're low key easy. I had 100% in the class the entire session. Definitely recommend.

I took her Soc 33 class winter of 2025 and the post you have to do are min 550 words each from the reading which she assigned. Moreover, we have quizzes and a final paper which is 6-7 pages long. You can get by with 500 or so words and the quizzes are online so you can pass this class easily with an “A”.

Y'all, Professor Klein ain't that bad, her online gender studies class is really easy, every week there is a discussion board with 550-650 words, be prepared, I only recommend the class if you're okay with paperwork and long discussion boards, overall an easy A!

She's a great teacher, she really cares about she grades as she rounds up grades up if needed for a better grade (like 89 will be an A). She grade very fairly and the lectures are very interesting and relevant. She also send reminders for the entire class for deadlines so no one would miss a submission. Definitely take her class!
