Melanie is a fantastic instructor. She takes the time to explain everything. She cares very deeply for the earth and it shows in her teaching methods. She moved me to make changes in my life.
Never have had a better professor
This instructor seems to be completely disorganized. She's a little stubborn and inflexible. Her tests are hard. Remember every word you read in the text and you might get a D. If you're interested in biology, take it with someone better.
Melanie is always ready to help anyone. She makes the subject very interesting and since I have taken her class, my views on things have changed. You can tell she really loves her job and the environment.
She's hyper. She dumbs down the material too much. If you want an easy A, take her.
Melanie simplifies material way too much. The only material I actually learned well, was due to sitting in on a different instructor's lecture. The way she presents material makes it obvious that she has not mastered the subject.I got a good grade, but learned very little. DO NOT TAKE THIS INSTRUCTOR.
Melanie is a personible person and easy to talk to. She makes learning very fun.
I seriously think this person is insane. She flies off the handle at the drop of a pin. She doesn't really "get" people. She has communication problems which is a horrible trait for someone trying to be a teacher. The text was good.
Great Teacher! The best I have ever had! She makes class very fun and interesting, out of all the teachers i have had i have learned the most from her! If you dont want a boring class take hers!!! I didnt pick up the book once because her lectures are so good! Definantly take her!!
Whoever said Melanies' tests were "so hard" and that that you must memorize the book just for a D should try going to class. With the tests covering material almost entirely from given notes, the book is unnecessary for an A. Go to class and take notes. She is funny too. Also likes to swear a lot.
Enviromental science is so easy. If you go to class. She tests on the notes she give you in class. I thought enviromental science was boring at first but she really enjoys her job and makes it fun.
Melanie is hyper, so lecture isn't boring. My issue with her style (or lack of it) is her rigidity. She is unwilling to listen to ideas that are not her's. She is better in front of the class than in any one-on-one situation. If you want an easy A, take her. If you are interested in learning, don't.
I took it online with her it was very easy and she was very helpful.
best teacher i have ever had she is so funny and i love her teaching style definantly take her if you want to learn and not fall asleep!!!!
Someone should tell this instructor that she is teaching at a college and not an elementary school. She should raise the bar a little. What a waste of my money! I got an easy A.
Very good instructor- easy to understand.
I'm not a morning person and I had her for 8:00am class and she kept me awake. She's so crazy, and makes learning about environmental science fun. She also went outside the book to find more info about topics. I would take her for another class if I had to!
Melanie is not smart enough to teach at the college level. She also spends too much class time talking about her personal problems and making jokes.
One of the best classes I have taken.
Easy class. I brown-nosed my way from a B to an A. Don't disagree with her and you will do fine. To learn more, take a different prof.

Waite keeps your attention and makes you WANT to hear what she has to teach. Her unconventional teaching actually made me look foward to lab day.

I didnt have much personal experience with her, but she wasn't very easy to work with in an online class. I submitted a word file from a mac, and it didnt have the .doc on it, and she wasnt able open the file (I brought the exact file home and opened it on my PC). A few assignments later I submitted with a PDF (to preserve some formatting) and she didn't know how to open it....
She's a pretty good professor, but her online classes are bad. I recommend her brick-and-mortar courses.
Great teacher her lab classes are great!!!
Melani is not a good teacher. She is more interested in popularity than in teaching and learning.
I thought environmental science would be boring but this was a great class. Her lecture style made it easy to take good notes, and her tests are all on lecture, so make sure you show up for class.
her tests are off of her lecture notes, so if you miss a day you are screwed. She is hilarious and it keeps your attention
Do not take Melony
Melanie was the bomb!
By far the best professor I have ever had. Very fun and energetic and extremely passionate about what she does. Definetely a professor that wants her students to succeed.
i had Prof. Waite for the lab portion. She was very fun and kept the class very interesting.
It was an online class so I only saw her for the tests but she was really funny. Her bonus questions on the tests were like: which country is north of us? and what room are you in right now? It was a difficult class that she tried to make as easy as possible. She gave us notes on EXACTLY the stuff we'd be tested on.
Excellent Teacher! I loved her class, she was helpful, tries to accomodate students to the mas and she is so much fun to be arround. Knows her stuff but also masters how to teach it in a relaxed and fun way. Excellent all the way!
I had enviro biology and the enviro lab online w/ Melanie as the prof. The text class was a little rough, lots of reading and sometimes it was boring. I don't think you can blame her for that. The lab class was so much fun though!! Very interesting. Having an interest in the environment definitely helps the cause.
I was sceptical of taking Env Biology as an online class, but I quickly changed my mind. As long as you do the reading and know how to take notes it is a very easy class. The labs were applicable to every day life and the one group project was extremely fun!
Very helpful teacher, approachable at all hours. Answered all questions I had in a very acceptable time. Content was good, tests and assignments forced you to learn the material.
Not very helpful when you have a problem; has trouble wording things for assignments and test questions

she is awesome! really funny and knows what she is talking about. keeps you interested, did i mention she was funny? if you just pay attention you will get a good grade. i wish i could take all my classes from her.
Melanie is an excellent teacher! She is very funny and makes environmental science interesting. Her tests are easy, if you study. Everything on the tests are from her lectures. I would recommend taking her lecture and lab class. I wish Melanie could teach all of my classes!
I've never laughed so hard in a class! She makes environmental science fun. Tests were very doable if you studied. Take good notes!
Melanie is fantastic!! LOVE LOVE LOVE her!! Wish I would have found her sooner!! She puts a joy into learning that I hadn't experienced at AR before then. If you have the opportunity to take her class.....don't pass it up. You won't regret it!
BE WARNED, if you are not able to attend the MANDATORY field trip for ANY reason, you will not have a great opportunity to pass this class. She does not care why you miss, you just get zeros. I don't think she really cares whether her students do well or not.
She was a good teacher that was concerned with her students progression and a lot of fun. I give her the highest rating (I'm not sure what that is) so I will say a 10.
This professor was extremely funny! Not only did she explain the lectures in an easy to understand way, but she also added plenty of humor to it. I rarely used the text book, but you still need to study for the tests. If you have an option, definitely take this course!
You MUST be a good test taker and willing to study. She is very clear though and fun to listen to, so if you have the motivation to study for the tests you'll be fine
Melanie is a very interesting teacher. She is quite amusing and funny and very 'chill' during lecture. She isn't 'above you.' I felt like I never really got any of the material, but learned it well enough for her tests. Overall, she is pretty understanding if you communicate in advance and her class is easy if you show up and do your work.
She is the best teacher I have had in my career at AR. She is hilarious but gets the job done at the same time. She uses great examples to make sure you understand the material. Uses great family stories to show points. Take her for your biology class!
She keeps the class moving! Lots of fun, lots of personal examples. Uses different media to keep you interested. Variety! Loved her class!
BEST PROF EVER! She has relevant examples for all topics that really peaks your interest. She's funny, helpful and entertaining. Tests are based on what we cover in class, if you study that and listen you'll do great. Wish I could take her again. ONLINE LAB IS FUN! But wish I would have taken it in class bc she is great!
Probably my favorite professor thus far. I wish I had her for the actual class and not just the lab. She is extremely helpful and nice. Very funny and easy going. I guarantee you'd love her class and do well in it!
Definitely a fun teacher! She made class very enjoyable, and there never seemed to be a dull moment. I would recommend taking her.
Melanie is pretty legit! She's hilarious and knowledgeable at the same time. Can get a bit rude, but only when people are talking! Def recommend her!!!
MY FAVORITE TEACHER SO IS SOOOOOOOOOOO FUNNY AND SOOOOO HELFUL I HIGHLY RECCOMMENED TAKING HER CLASS
She is hilarious, but keeps a good balance of humor and respect in the classroom. Super passionate and knowledgeable about the topic, and really drew me in!
Awesome teacher! Best one i have ever had at AR. She knows the material and knows how to help you understand it. Very interesting in lecture, loved coming to class. Really cares about the success of her students.
Awesome! One of the best professors I have had!
great teacher, knows what she's talking about and very passionate. Also, she is very fun and easy to talk to. During test time, you have to be on your best behavior, otherwise you'll be throw out of the class
Absolutely the best teacher I have ever had. Suuuper funny in lecture and at the same time very knowledgeable on the topic and helps you to learn the content. You do have to have a somewhat decent work ethic when it comes to studying but it really isn't bad at all. I love this teacher and if I could I would take all of my classes through her.
Melaine is a super nice professor. As long as you show up to every class and take notes you'll do fine on the exams. Theres minimal homework and the projects you do are veryyyyyyyyyy super easy to do. I would highly recommend taking this professor. Shes also pretty funny too!
Took her live lecture Enviornmental Science class. It was a great experience! She is very enthusiastic, nice, educated, and funny. If you go to class and take good notes, that is what she tests on. A few projects and papers as well. Great professor - I would strongly reccommend and take her again.
Took her online lab Enviornmental Science class. She is a wonderful, helpful teacher. The fieldtrip was fun (manditory, but you know about it and when right away). Assignments due twice a week for the 1/2 semester class. Would highly recommend her! Would take her again!
I found the exams to be very hard (little time given, and some of the questions were not from the book and poorly worded), while the assignments were pretty easy with clear instructions and generous grading. Unfortunately, the lowest grade is not dropped, so you cant have a bad day - your final grade is affected by EVERYTHING.
Melanie is a wonderful, high-energy professor. She doesn't answer questions thoroughly- as she wants you to learn how to critically think (which I like). Her 5-week summer course has a heavy workload if taken at same time as the lab. FUN class; wish I would have taken as 16 week course to be able to fully engage.
Great teacher. Assignments are easy, test are very difficult.
Awesome teacher! Had her for lab and lecture and she was super fun and made the class worth while. I wish she had more classes to take in the science department.
Full of passion, clear guidelines, I wish I would have taken her for the lecture portion.
Not a helpful teacher at all. Learned nothing and had no help from the teacher- even when I asked a direct question. Worst teacher I have ever had.
Good class.
Very poor professor. You'd be surprised she's been teaching online for over ten years. The assignments & tests are VERY poorly worded & confusing. The workload is overwhelming with no structured or helpful study guides. It seems like assigments & test questions are outdated from older books. She docs points for everything & is not clear.
Terrible professor. She is nice in person but horrible online professor. She uses outdated, poorly-worded tests and assigments that are VERY confusing. Some test questions make no sense & are not covered in the material. She is very unskilled at organizing her online classes. Expect a lot of reading & points doc'd for everything.
I love this professor! In my opinion the best professor at ARCC. Very clear on what she wants her students to know. Writes all lectures on the board, and anything that she doesn't write, you don't have to know. Reading the book helps a lot. Easy assignments that she is always willing to help with. Super entertaining lectures! Loud and funny.
Melanie is awesome! She was one of the teachers that inspired me to pursue my major (Environmental Science). She is very funny, more then willing to help if you ask for it, doesn't like when people talk during her lectures (I got called out for that a lot), and is extremely passionate about the environment! I still talk to her since the class ended
Melanie is a great teacher. She can be rude though- she likes talking about herself and puts students down at times. However, she is passionate about what she teaches and does a good job of keeping the class engaged. Her class is challenging but a fair amount of work- show up and study and you'll do well. Oh, and she tells funny stories.
Awesome class. I'm glad I took it with her, she cares about the students.
Not a "Wolf in sheep's clothing" like someone else once said. She is fun to talk to, and has some funny stories to tell, and they helped me remember certain things from the lectures. She may seem to be like a slave-driver, but it was what helped motivate me to do well.(P.S. Somebody needs to get her buckthorn to display in her office!)
Melanie is a easily one of the best professors that I've had here at Anoka-Ramsey. She's always cracking jokes and telling stories, which makes the class enjoyable, engaging and memorable. She's also very clear on the grading criteria for her assignments. Make sure to turn things in on time though--she docks 20% each day on late assignments.
Melanie is easily one of my favorite professors at Anoka-Ramsey. Her lectures cover everything you need to know for tests and often times she'll throw in a funny story which really helped me remember certain concepts. If you want to pass her class, make sure to not skip as she usually elaborates on topics or adds in topics that are not in the text.
She's fun and very passionate about Biology. You can work ahead, but if you take another instructor for the lecture the topics don't match at all. She's a tough grader, but it's pretty easy work.
This online lab was very simple and if one completes all the work they should get an A. The field trip is essential for passing & it is scheduled right away (don't be late!). The group work is really tedious but not horrible (about 2 projects). Labs are pretty easy. Melanie has very confusing & very poorly worded assigments. The class is easy.
Really funny! Keeps you interested in the sometimes dry topics by telling awesome stories. Comes off a little snobby and intimidating but really nice if you actually talk to her. Wants you to succeed but not gonna hand it to you, you have to put in a lot of work cause the exams are pretty tough. Would take again if only for the hilarious stories!!
I had this class 2 days a week and the class length was 2 hours long. We had lecture the entire time almost everyday. A few times we did dissections but they were not mandatory to participate but you got a few extra points if you stayed for the class length and at least watched the dissection. Tests are tough but she only tests on her notes.
Melanie is a great professor! If you don't come to class YOU WILL be behind. She makes lecture very fun and interesting. You need to take the time to study, the overview sheets of the chapters really help with studying. Don't talk when she lecturing because it throws off the whole class and her (plus it's just down right disrespectful).
She overall was awesome! She was inspirational. Her test are based on her in class lecture notes, The chapters in the book are long, so it best to go to class because her lecture notes get summarized; so going to class is an almost necessity if you don't have a book. I would take her again!
7 assignments, follow her assignment guidelines and you would do fine on them, 4 exams and they are TOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
exams are TOUGH!!
Great class!
i'm kind of late for my rate I took this class during the summer and it was online, I like Melanie she's really nice and helpful, she replied very fast to my emails, her 4 exams were very tough, you have to study hard, the assignments weren't that hard, and I would take her again
She was a very good teacher and very understanding. She was very helpful if you had questions. Cares if her students do well. Very easy going. She is very funny and kind. As long as you were at class and participated in the labs it was very easy. Had one paper all semester and it was fairly easy to do. She even let you see examples
Taking it online is tough. Guided notes aren't enough. Assignments and papers are easy. Tests are hard. Questions have poor phrasing.
She is a good teacher, her tests are hard but if you do the rest of the work and turn it in on time you will pass her class. She is fair and easy to get a d of if you need to
Melanie is the best lecturer I've ever had. Get ready to take notes, because anything said in class is what your exams is on. So if you're a good note taker, you should have no problem passing exams, especially when she gives study guides. She makes class very interesting because Melanie has a great personality! Definitely recommend this professor
Theres only four exams throughout the semester and a few assignments here and there. Very management and I hate science classes. It seemed more intimidating than it actually was. Highly recommend, Melanie is a great professor.
There is a group assignment, it wasnt bad. About 15 lab assignments and some were challenging for me who doesnt like science but I still managed a good grade. Class wasnt hard and I appreciated the professors help.
She is awesome
Melanie is such an upbeat person. I looked forward to going to her class! She is awesome at explaining things step by step and breaks it down for those who have a harder time understanding. She is by far my favorite professor! If you show up and do the assignments you'll pass no problem.
Tests are based off her lectures so if you skip, you will do bad on the exams. There was about 4assignments and 4exams. The assignments aren't hard. However, the exams are extremely hard. Study your notes and you will be fine. Knowing percentages and dates are important. A lot of information is provided, memorizing it all is the only way to do good
She's really funny!! Definitely a class you should take with some friends. She is a little tough on grading though. She makes class fun and is very out-there.
Melanie is a phenomenal professor. I took her environmental science class and enjoyed it so much! She is hilarious and really is passionate about her field of work. Her exams are difficult, but easy to pass if you pay attention to her lectures. We did not use the book, everything on the tests were based of her notes we would copy in class.
She is very funny. You just need to take good notes and study them. Pay attention to the current events
Melanie was such a great prof, she's hilarious! I took environmental science with her and you can really tell she cared about the subject. The lectures were interesting and I loved how she would go over current events that are applicable to more broad environmental problems. If you show up and pay attention and take notes, you will pass this class.
Take her online class extremely difficult. The questions in the exams are poorly phrased. 50 questions for 60 minutes . Can't go back to the previous questions if time allowed. If English is not your native language, you won't do well in the exams. Assignments are fun and easy.
her online class is hard. there are 4 exams and each one is about a month apart. the assignments werent too bad but the exams were HARD. most of the questions on the exams are trick questions which makes you do bad on the exam. you have 50 questions and only 60 mins to complete it. exams are poorly worded and confusing. can get 10 pts extra credit
Melanie gives 10 extra credits. There are 4 exams which are extremely hard. She doesnt give any online lecture or video. The exams are 4-8 chapters each. In every chapters has plenty of informations. If you think you can qualify for special accommodations to extend your time, take it because you are going to need it. Otherwise, no consideration.
Enjoyed class
Explains material well. Be sure to study for exams, they are a big part of your grade.
I hate science, but I loved her class. Every class she made lectures fun and I thoroughly enjoyed her class. All you do is show up, take notes and pay attention (which isn't difficult because her lectures are hilarious and interesting) and you will pass.
Melanie is amazing! Her classes are mainly lectures, but they divert from the usual PowerPoint slides. She tells tons of hilarious stories that really help you learn the material. Pay attention, take notes, and you will 100% pass!
Terrible
Melanie is a great professor in and out of the classroom. She gives great lectures, she puts her personality and stories to make topics more than just words on paper. She also does an amazing job for prepping for her tests, she provides an outlines of things to know before every single test. Provides great opportunities outside classroom as well.
The online class is HARD! The assignments aren't bad, but the exams are hard! I would read the material and study, and I still would do bad to okay on my testing. The questions are mostly trick questions or badly phrased which makes it difficult to understand what is being asked, causing you to lose points. Take in class instead!
The professor is very lively and energetic so the lectures are easy to listen to which include current topics and class material. There are 4 tests that you NEED to study for, a few assignments, 2 papers, and a presentation. I only took this class to fill my science requirement, but it was the better option.
The class would be easier if her explanations and homework questions were more clearly stated. She might be a great professor in person, however her lack of coherent sentence structure and grammar makes things very difficult and frustrating for an online class.
This site had warned me about her online class but I had no choice to take it if I wanted my AA. Melanie's directions for assignments are horrible and her Exams are the hardest. In exams you can go back after you've answered a question, they're worded weirdly, AND its timed an hour for 50 questions. I would never take one of her classes again.
I took the Environment Science Lab and Lecture class and really enjoyed it! It was by far my favorite class this term. The exams are a little tricky, but with reading the chapters, taking good notes, and printing out the provided study guides, they are manageable. I really liked the assignments and was very interested in everything I was learning!
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS. I'm not sure about in person classes but she is a TERRIBLE online professor. The tests are impossible, there's no teaching, no direction, no involvement, and so unorganized.
I've heard that Melanie is a great prof in person. Online, the only way to pass the 4 exams is to read & know 5 chapters of the textbook for each test. No notes allowed on exams w/ 1 hour for 50 questions, but they are not proctored. Her assignments can be confusing at times. Material was interesting, but not the way she presented it by textbook.
Tough grader! does not post agenda. does not actually teach you anything. Posts assignments on first day of class then doesn't say anything again. It is a witch hunt to get the slightest bit of information from her of what to do. HORRIBLE TEACHER.
Tough grader and lots of assignments.
I don't know if her in-person class is any better but DO NOT take her online class if you can find another class. For every test, there was a study guide but next to nothing on the study guide was on the test. A lot of test information was not in the study guide. The questions on the test were ambiguous and could have more than one correct answer.
This is the absolute worst teacher/professor I have ever experienced. She grades incredibly harshly and does not include everything she want's from your assignments. It's almost as if she does not want you to pass. Avoid her class at all costs. Any positive review you see of this woman is a lie. I literally made this account just to warn others.
Anoka Ramsey has to have one of the worse science professors last year it was chemistry and this year its this class!! This is outrageous this teacher doesnt provide any time of help and assigns so much assignments! She does the bare minimum and expects her students to understand everything well. Dont pick this Professor.
Class is structured well. Wednesday due date for assignments, etc. A couple group projects (option to do it alone). Exams and "current topic quizzes" every couple weeks that take some studying (Not much). Lecture video for each chapter and provided notes which is SO helpful. I actually enjoyed some assignments too. Very doable class.
Avoid at all costs. During each of her not helpful "help" videos, she concludes with "make sure all work is done at a college level." However, you do no receive teaching at a college level. Exams are 60 minutes to do 50 questions (no reviewing) and are worded VERY confusingly. Assignment directions are unclear. Do NOT take this class!
DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH HER. I want nothing to do with Environmental science after taking this class. Melanie has the most obnoxious voice and her "help" videos are of no assistance. The tests are very hard and are worded in a confusing manner. She set me up to fail. More time was spent on this class than four college classes combined. Avoid.
Took the lab class along with BIOL1103. BEWARE of the earthworm lab report, it's a group paper online and it is dreadful. Also, if you wait until Wednesday of that week to start the water quality lab you won't get proper results because it takes TWO days to get results. Did she tell us this? Nope. She treats this 1 credit class like it's worth 3.
Worst professor I have ever had. Tough tests that you only have 60 min to take with 50 questions. Once you submit an answer, you can't review it. Also did not give helpful feedback. Melanie would just say "nice work" or nothing at all. Has high expectations and is a harsh grader. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
Melanie gives no answer keys or feedback. She just docks you points. I tried so hard to get an A. Homework is long, very tedious, and its 6-8 pages worth of work for only like 10 points. She has too much free time. If you want a teacher that connects and gives real feedback go elsewhere. She's not good. Her"Help"videos are no help. Harsh grader.
The tests are timed 50 minutes for 50 questions and once you answer a question you can't go back.. which I think kind of makes it harder since you have less time to think about the question. She doesn't really provide a lot of information to study because the things she supplies arent really on the test. A lot of reading the textbook to get an A!
She by far was the worst teacher I've had at Anoka Ramsey. I've emailed her about not understanding topics and she has never responded. All the quizzes and tests are very confusing and leaves you wondering if studying does anything. NEVER TAKE A CLASS WITH HER! Unless you are prepared for your GPA to take a hit!
If you read the textbook ahead of time, you will be fine. Her help videos really do not do anything. The only good thing about them is knowing what you need to study. Just make sure that you are thorough through your work and study hard. She's a VERY harsh grader
super cool lady. i took environmental science with her and she's very passionate and knowledgeable in her field. she docks quite a few points for small mistakes, but once you get a feel for what she wants things get easier.
Changed my perspective on how I live my life and the impact humans have on the world. Tough, there is a lot of reading and the current event articles are a lot of busy work. Take good notes on articles and on textbook and you should do well. The papers/projects are also worth a lot of points so make sure you follow the requirements carefully.
I took both lect. & lab 1103. Lots of random HW that takes a lot of time/work but worth measly 10 points. 2 group assignments that are fairly easy. A LOT of reading, from the book & random articles she makes you read. Several papers, tough grader. Overall regret taking this course with her, but I needed it for requirements, so I had no choice.
Prof. Melanie was encouraging, helpful, understanding, had a sense of humor, answered emails promptly, and made class fun. You can tell she wants her students to succeed. Assignments were as challenging as I'd expect in a 4-credit class and helped me understand/retain what I learned, rather than just passing tests and checking boxes.
The actual layout of this class was confusing for me. I took the online class and I always felt like I was searching for the assignments. Besides that the class was easy and the professor was nice but harsh when it came to grading.
Melanie's classes are jam-packed with information - an INSANE amount of information! Lectures (assignment instruction videos) tend to stray from the topic at hand which is confusing. Group projects were a mess. That said, Melanie is quick to answer email and available via zoom. Put in the effort and she will work with you to help you earn an A.
I took both lab & lecture with this professor. Organization is not a strong point, so it can be hard to find assignments online. But these courses are relatively simple as long as you read the textbook & guidelines. A bit of a picky grader & exams are difficult without note-taking or review.
Her class is jam packed with information. Her "study guides" don't help you at all. Her exams make no sense what so ever.
Her tests don't make sense at all. The study guide that she provides doesn't even help you at all. Her voice is also annoying when she talks in her videos.
This professor was hard. All the weekly assignments were cool to do, but they were nothing related to the textbook and the exams. There are 4 exams total and they were hard and a lot! You have to understand the overall concepts and some very specific things mentioned briefly in the textbook. Wouldn't recommend her if you don't want hard readings.
I don't practically dislike this professor nor class, however I found little to no structure within it. Everything was very sporadic and, in my opinion, little to no meaning towards the exams. It was a relatively "easy" class if you're willing to put in the time spent reading and researching---taking notes is a must within this course.
Taking an online biology class is tough just because of the work load. This is a 4-credit class, so get ready for assignments. You can't just fake it in this class. I thought Prof. Melanie does a great job with supporting her students. She's easy to get a hold of with questions. One piece of advice is to not wait till the last min to do your work.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. I'M TELLING YOU DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. I'M TRYING TO HELP YOU OUT.
Took this class online asynch., and it wasn't bad! We have one assignment every week and a test once a month. Her videos were very helpful in understanding what she was asking for. The tests were book heavy, and the current topic quizzes were pretty stressful, so read the material! She's very lenient and is willing to answer questions quickly.
Melanie made this lab so easy and enjoyable! There were a few group assignments and one or two scientific papers that is based on some research and tests you do. She lets you drop your lowest graded assignment and makes sure to keep up with your progress during the semester. The labs were really interesting, and I totally recommend taking it!
She's kind in emails and responds quickly. The only bad thing about this class was it didn't have lectures. There's only one assignment a week (whether it's a worksheet, exam, quiz, paper, etc is up to the week) which makes it very manageable. The textbook is fine but it feels like a high school textbook, I feel like I didn't learn a ton from it.
I am not by all means a science person as the subject is something I tend to struggle with. Taking this class online was my first mistake. IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT SCIENCE DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER AND DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS.
Glad I am pass with C cuz she is tougher grade, Even the credits I do I get lower score lol. I am A student lol so it was my first getting C. Mind you that I never get B too lol. good luck everyone if you are taking her.
She creates half-hour videos for each chapter or unit, which are incredibly helpful, and provides cheat sheets for the more complex anatomy concepts to memorize. you enjoy A&P, you'll find her class fantastic; if it's not your favorite subject, it might be a bit challenging, but overall, she's a great professor!
Melanie's class is a tough one, but Unstuck study helped me manage the workload. The tests and quizzes are challenging, but her videos and the textbook are useful if you stay on top of the material.
Dr. Waite is accommodating for AP. her textbooks and videos are very helpful, has extra credit options but the one thing is she isn't the best for many questions via email If you know the content, great. watch ap Crashcourse and ask her for some clarification. I even got her to change the due date of my exams. she's kind, polite, helpful, smart.
This course was the hardest I have ever taken, coming from a 4.0 student. The exams are impossible to prep for and the current topic quizzes are incredibly difficult. They do not relate to anything we have learn in the course, and the study guides do not help you prepare at all. The exams and quizzes are timed and I always felt super rushed.
Melanie is an extremely harsh grader. Docks points for small mistakes, but does not offer any feedback or answer keys. Her help videos really don't help at all. Reading the textbook is really all I could do in this course.
Professor Waite-Altringer can be a tough grader, but overall, she's fair. She provides multiple extra credit opportunities and will help students if they don't understand an assignment. I wasn't a huge fan of the number of tests in this class, but the multiple papers balanced out the grades on the exams.
She ran the class well enough I just did not care for her or the class material what so ever. Unless you are the biggest fan of Environmental Science I wouldn't take this class as it is a total snooze fest.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. Very tough grader focuses too much on little mistakes, posts assignments on a Friday night. There are no lectures for this class and the assignment "help" videos don't tell you much. You're reading and learning entirely from the textbook; I struggle a lot with this subject and did not learn much from her class.
This was a great professor! She immediately answers your emails and provides good feedback! Just ask questions for anything and she would help you out. It was an easy course, just do your work and try.
She is probably better in person than online, but she was a very tough grader and was not the most helpful in preparing you for exams. The note sheet you study that is for the exams do not at all include what is going to be on them. If you are taking the class please do so in person.
She is a very nit-picky grader and gives a lot of assignments. She responds fast to questions but is very tough on grading assignments and will dock you points for the smallest thing. Expect a lot of assignments that take 2+ hours multiple times a week. I would not take this class alongside another class with heavy courseload.
Textbook heavy and does not include lectures. Study guides are not helpful. Tests are difficult and require an intense amount of studying.
The whole class is essentially reading a certain numbers of chapters from the textbook, filling in the guided notes (which aren't that helpful for the test tbh) and then taking the tests. There are normally only 1-2 assignments per week but they can take a few hours minimum each. Tests are really difficult and require a lot of studying.
If you have Grammarly just on your computer you will get failed. You don't even have to use the app.
She's a really nice professor who is very kind and understanding, for a 3 credit class the work load wasn't to bad. The only bad thing about this course is the CT quizzes, your given 10 minutes to answer 10 written questions which she expects in-depth answers to.
