AWESOME teacher! She knows alot about the subject. Even though her class is at 8am and non-mandatory, people still go to class because she is interesting! Take her!
LOVE HER! Favorite class by far. Attendance is not mandatory but a lot of people go just because it is such a good class. take her for sure
Easiest professor I've had at Tulane. Super nice, extremely knowledgeable about child psych. All you have to do is go to class and you'll get an A.
Class was at 8am so I rarely went, but when I did I was bored to tears. Whenever someone would ask a question, she would go off on a tangent about something completely different and never answered the question. She seemed really absentminded.
I had her for child psych at 9am, she can be soft spoken so I always sat up front and brought some coffee! If you take good notes (just copy everything off her slides) you will get an A! Attendance is not mandatory but she doesn't put the slides online so if you don't go to class you'll have to read a boring textbook to get the information.
She is very easy, just reads off of the power points. Her class if extremely boring though and she doesn't really seem to know much about the subject and has a hard time answering any questions. Study for the tests though because then you don't have to take the final
Her Adolescent Psych class is super well organized and presented. Tests are easy and all based on just the words on her slides. People get by on just reading the book, but she gives extra credit for coming to class some days. Irecommend this class for being interesting and easy Also the final is optional if you're okay with your grade after 3 tests
I had her for Child Psych and would go to class only a couple times a week and still pulled an A. Her tests are from her powerpoints but equally as much from her tests. Offers extra credit from coming to class and doing psych studies. A good class if you're interested in this stuff, but she's a bit dry.
I had her for adolescent psych. She is super straightforward and her 3 exams are basically right off the powerpoints, but you have to be in class to copy them down or you'll have to read the book. She's not too exciting but it's mostly common sense, easy A/B psych class
She is a great teacher. Doesn't post her lectures, but you can learn everything from the book. Test are very strait forward if you do the reading. Its all about memorization.
I had to take this class and would say that most concepts discussed are very basic and not too interesting. She uses ppt slides that she doesn't post so I would recommend taking notes in class and studying the notes. The tests are all MC relatively easy. The class is not very engaging but not too boring-pretty neutral. I am overall happy with it.
I took PSYC1000 with her and this 3000-level class is taught in the exact same way. Take good notes and study them before the tests and you will be fine. There are 5-6 extra credits you can earn on class throughout the semester. I definitely recommend her.
Easy class. She uses powerpoints (which can be found after a quick google search) and the tests are really straight forward. She doesn't totally know everything she's talking about, since she is specialized more towards child psych and intro is broad, but she tries to answer questions. She gives extra credit on random days to make class worth it.
Standard intro psychology class. Learn material from the powerpoints well, and you will make an A. Read the textbook for more in depth knowledge if you want. I would recommend not missing class, unless you can get the powerpointsnotes from someone else. Multiple choice exams, and you have the option of not taking the final if you want.
Very easy, you can skip class if you have the slides and you can still pass. She is very nice and its a pretty easy A.
I would highly recommend taking her for intro to psych. While going to class is optional she gives extra credit so it is definitely worth it. All of the slides are online, but sometimes she adds to them. Everything on the slides is straight from the book so you don't need to read. Honestly, she makes having to suffering through an 8am worth it.
Whether you go to class or not for Fabian, its important to read the book to get an A on the test! She is a great teacher and very very nice. Would 100% take her class again!! If you actually attend class, she gives in class extra credit questions close to once a week.
She is very conservative and her lectures reflect that as she imposes her views on everybody. She is often offensive without realizing it and students get upset. Her material is straight forward and her tests are easy, but she is very hard to get along with.
Professor Fabian's adolescent psych class was very interesting. Her lectures are straightforward and clear, but she doesn't give you slides because she doesn't require attendance. Her tests are pretty easy if you study all your notes. I'd recommend taking a class with Professor Fabian.
Professor Fabian is great; I took her for adolescent psych and she was very straightforward and interesting. Class set up was pleasant, she had thorough power points that if you knew well from your notes the tests were easy As. No hw, no attendance, a lot of extra credit. Overall great class.
Professor Fabian is pretty boring, but she is a nice woman and you can tell she is passionate about her job. She gives extra credit during some lectures and attendance is not mandatory.
She could not be a better teacher for this class. She knows what she is talking about and gives fantastic clear examples. Attendance is not mandatory but she does give extra credit. There are three test through out the semester and a cumulative final. I enjoy attending class and found it very helpful for the test. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND
She gives extra credit often. I have already received 5 extra credits in half the semester. She also drops of the lowest exam. If you go to class, you can definitely get an A!
Very, very kind teacher. She knows the material, has obviously taught it many times before, but still makes it enjoyable to listen to and learn. She does not post her powerpoints online because attendance is not mandatory, but they go along right with the book (except sometimes she excludes unnecessary info from the book). Best 8 am class
Horrible class. She basically read the textbook word for word for 50 minutes, so don't bother going to class. Had nothing to do with psychology, basically a sociology course. Tested on specific statistics. Her tests are worded unclearly and unfairly in order to trick you. Hated every minute of this class, and I love psychology.
It seems that the older classes were easier. I took intro psych with her and it was very easy. I don't think she is making these tests. She doesn't answer emails. I'm fairly certain her TA is doing Everything. The 3 people walking around during exams is distracting. She doesn't seem to care at all. Her teaching style is not parallel with the tests.
Very nice and smart. Gives extra credit if you come to class, and they definitely add up by the end of the semester. She does often teach at 8 AM but if you go to the lectures you really don't need to do any reading on your own, provided you take notes from her powerpoints. Very manageable and interesting class.
Warm person to be around and a fair teacher. Her powerpoints condense the massive chapters into just the right amount of info. Doesn't post pp which is fine as long as you go to class. 3 tests and a final lowest grade dropped. SONA extra credit up to 4 points and tests graded within two days after taking them. Overall easy and interesting course.
Tests are straight from her lecture notes which are basically shortened versions of the textbook. No need to read if you go to class and take notes. 5-6 extra credit points for coming to class on some days. The points make a difference and give you some wiggle room to miss points on some tests. need 274/300 points total for an A. Final can be drop
Syllabus is clear and shows exactly how to get the grade you want. 4 tests, one of which is the final, of these only 3 are kept. Study for the first 3 and skip the final as it is cumulative. Lectures are straight from the book and attendance isn't mandatory (half the class skips) but extra credit is given to in-class students on random occasions.
PSYC1000 is an easy A if you come to class and/or read the book. She is a really interesting lecturer who puts topics into perspective so they're easy to understand. She occasionally gives extra credit, but don't expect them to help your grade much, they're only one point each. She just has a couple tests per semester and one grade gets dropped.
The information on her lectures is the same as the material that you are tested on so you don't really need to read the book. There's some extra credit if you come to class and she drops your lowest test grade.
She is an amazing teacher. Gives extra credit randomly if you show up to class. So easy to get an A if you read the book and "pay attention" in class while shopping for clothes. I recommend her, she explains really well and her tests are so easy.
Go to class, keep up on the readings, and study a few hours before each test, and you will get an A or B. No crazy studying or things to do.
Go to class, take good notes, skim the reading, and you should be fine. She also offer extra credit that go to your overall sum of points. Attendance is not mandatory, but she does not post the power points online, and she offer extra credit opportunities randomly in class.
Boils down the book to a powerpoint, and that powerpoint is the only thing you need to study. Also gives out extra credit if you show up on random days. Definitely take an L and wake up at 8 AM so that your report card can take a W with an A
Amazing teacher! You don't need the textbook if you show up to class. She makes the lectures interesting, and she seems to genuinely care about how we do.
Much, much harder than her intro psyc. The test is worded unfairly and I didn't learn anything new in class. Do NOT take!!!
All she does is lecture and the grade is entirely based on tests. This class isn't very hard and she offers extra credit for going
She is amazing. Professor Fabian is the nicest person. She cares so much about her students, and it really really shows. I love sitting in her class (even though its at 8 am). She really sets you up to succeed. She will say you need to read the textbook, but I haven't touched it and I have an A-
If you show up to class and get her notes it makes studying for the tests extremely easy. Interesting lectures, completely manageable exams, and gives extra credit. Take her if you want an interesting class that's fairly easy to get an A in.
Fabian is so nice! Her lectures are clear and she gives random extra credit here and there. I missed a few lectures when I got strep, and she was super understanding and helpful during her office hours. Not a psych major, but she made the material applicable and fun. Love her!!
Her lectures are clear and straight from the textbook, she breaks down the info that will be presented on the exams. I read the textbook, but most people didn't and still got an A. As long as you show up to class and listen/take notes, you're set. Super nice professor, very understanding and fair in grading.
Be sure to read the textbook thoroughly and take supplemental notes during class. Generally slides reflect the assigned texts with additional details to aid in understanding. Attendance is not mandatory, but is recommended as extra credit is given randomly to those in attendance.
Her test is all from the powerpoint, but she doesn't post them online, so going to class is very necessary as she also give out extra credit in class. Overall, she is a very fair teacher and soo approachable, she just got everything you would expect from a good teacher.
The four exams are the only thing that go into the grade but they are all weighted equally (including the final) and one can be dropped (or skipped completely) so study for the three midterms and skip the final if you can. She also offers extra credit on random days for showing up. I got the textbook but haven't opened it once.
Dr. Fabian is incredible! I had her for intro to psych and again for Adolescent Psych this semester. She is so passionate about the subject. There are 4 exams including the final and she drops one. The tests are not hard and its especially nice when you can drop the final. She also gives extra credit in class every once in a while which helps.
Very accessible for office hours. Only 3 tests and a final, but she drops the lowest grade. Gives extra credit random days for showing up to class but doesn't take attendance. Took intro with her last semester and now I'm in adolescent with her. She is so passionate about subject and I enjoy her lectures. Very interesting. & I'm a psych minor
I showed up to maybe 5 classes all semester and still got an A+. It's a big class, so she doesn't bother taking attendance. She has three exams and an optional final. If you plan on skipping, you should know that she doesn't post her PPTs, but her exams are all based on the textbook and they're pretty detail-oriented.
Take this professor, best professor ever. You do not need to go to class, but I did and I would recommend it because the lectures are actually interesting and she makes it so easy because she is good at teaching the material. I took notes, made a Quizlet, and got good marks on all the tests. No homework, and she is so nice.
It's a standard lecture class but prof Fabian is very nice and fair. 4 tests total, 50 questions each and lowest is dropped. If you show up to class and read the textbook you will do well. Textbook is kinda a drag but info is interesting and if you manage ur time well it will b fine. I would take her class she is a very good choice for psych.
Great teacher
If you put in the bare minimum by going to class, listening to the lectures, and copying the powerpoints into your notes, you can get an A with ease. Lectures were interesting. I personally didn't read the book, but others did well reading it. She also offers random opportunities for extra credit just for attendance. Would definitely recommend!
Professor Fabian is your best option for Introductory Psychology at Tulane. While attendance is not mandatory, she does not post her PowerPoint slides. You're only tested on subjects discussed in class, so there are usually sections of each chapter in the textbook that aren't worth reading. Every now and then there's in-class extra credit.
Great prof- well respected in her field and its clear she knows the material. 3 tests and a final, with the option to drop one of the exams. A few extra credit points here and there. Be ready to listen to her a lecture a lot.
Dr. Fabian is the best Psychology 1000 professor at Tulane! You have to go to class for the notes. Tests are fair and very straightforward. Take her!
Go to class because she does not post her slides. All the tests are things verbatim from her slides. Three test and a final (she does a drop test). Extra points from SONA. She's great, helpful, and always in a great mood when she teaches.
Super easy professor, not that PSYC1000 is hard. Go to class because she doesn't post the lecture slides, but as long as you listen and take notes, tests are insanely easy. She also gives extra credit for going to class and has a drop exam. Honestly hard to not get an A. Don't bother buying the textbook either
Class is easy if you show up and take good notes. Textbook is unnecessary. She's really kind and a fun teacher! Definitely a must-take course for psych majors.
I wouldnt recommend taking adolescent psych with her. Tests are super detailed.
Copy down her PowerPoints, and you'll do great on the tests. The tests are straightforward and super easy if you study your notes. Didn't read textbook. Explains concepts clearly, but class feels like it can stagnate at times. Super nice and responds to emails quickly. Lots of opportunities for extra credit. Solid choice for psych.
this class is basically all lectures. not hard to do well. go to class because she does not post the slides anywhere. very responsive outside of class and understanding.
Easiest class ever. Professor Fabian is amazing and her lectures are very engrossing. Go to class, take notes and you should get an A. All the info you need is on her slides. Find a friend in your class, make a google doc and write everything you see on the slides.
Doesn't post PowerPoints, but as long as you take notes, study them for the tests, and show up to class for surprise EC's, you'll do well.
I love Professor Fabian! Shes literally so chill and like understanding. Her expectations are very clear 3 midterms & a final. She takes your best 3/4 and if youre happy with your midterm scores, she lets you drop the final!! How amazing. She is deeply appreciated and I wouldnt have taken anyone else for Intro to PSYC. Enjoy :))
Prof. Fabian is an easy A for her PSYC-1000 class, and you do not need to read the textbook at all to get by. That being said, I did read the textbook (and completed all the reading assignments), so for me, the class was reading heavy. The material is super easy (and usually common sense). Very solid choice for the student doing Psych as a req.
Easiest class I've taken at Tulane. Did not touch the textbook once. All I did was go to class, write down everything from the slides, and study those notes the day or two before the tests and it was an easy A. The homework is like once a week and easy as well. Such a nice professor and definitely recommend for a chill intro psych class.
Fabian is really nice, an interesting lecturer, and an overall easy A. If you just copy down her power points and go over them a few times you are good for the quizzes/tests. There is like 1 hr of HW a week. Super easy, great class, def reccomend.
Professor Cannon was the best professor I've had and the best in the psychology department! Her lectures were all interesting and clear, and they had all the information that was on the quizzes, exams, and homework assignments. The workload wasn't intense at all and everything was super clearan easy A.
Dr. Fabian-Cannon is such an amazing professor. Her lectures are super heavy but she does a great job keeping them interesting and engaging. Grade is based off of tests, quizzes, and short writing assignments that are directly based off of lectures. I highly recommend her and I wish she taught more classes so I could take her again!
Lectures every class but just take notes on the slides and study and you'll be good. Super sweet lady and not much homework
Hands down the best psych professor I have had here. Just take notes and study for no longer than 3 hours and you will be golden. Not to mention the class is super interesting, easy to take notes for, and the content makes sense. Prof. Fabian explains everything very well. There are no concepts I haven't understood in this class!!!!
I truly loved this class and professor. Her lectures are very engaging, and the homework assignments are super easy. There's usually three and a final. I didn't need to read the textbook at all. The tests are straightforward if you takes notes from her powerpoints (she doesn't post them) and memorize the vocabulary.
Fabian is an amazing prof and adolescent psych is a really easy class. all the notes are pretty straightforward and her tests are too. if u just mindlessly copy the notes on the slides youll be fine. i would def take her again for an easy psych class
Dr. Cannon is great! She ends class early some days, and even when the lecture goes for the full class time, it doesnt feel unbearable. Her exams cover information from the notes. Textbooks are used for writing assignments (one due at the end or each chapter but super easy). There are also 3 quizzes throughout the semester (open note, MC, easy).
I love Professor Fabian! Her lectures are always easy to follow along and understand, and she makes the material really engaging with real-life examples (usually about her kids, which is cute). As long as you take good notes in class and pay attention, reading the textbook isnt necessary to get an A in the classtests are based off her lectures.
Fabian is super caring, the writing prompts are easy if you pay attention in class/read the textbook and take notes! There are 4 exams total- one cumulative final, three regular- not too hard but study for sure and pay attention in class! Attendance is not mandatory but it really helps with the writing and exams and you won't have to read if you go
one of the best psych professors there is - she has extremely interesting lectures and explains everything super well. i loved taking her class and wish i could again, cares about all of her students, clear about what she expects, loved her and her class!
Amazing psyc professor. Reading the textbook is not necessary just take notes on the in-class slides, study them, and youll get an A.
Easiest class I've ever taken. Tests are super easy. Makes the content interesting and obviously cares a lot about what she's teaching.
Professor Fabian's class was well-organized and her homework and grading policies were clear. You'll get an A if you go to class, review notes before tests, and do the homework (half a page answers to easy questions, only 12 of those the whole semester). Have to be part of psych studies for credit, and no Zoom, but she's a great professor.
Prof Fabian is great, shes super kind. Shes willing to accommodate you as long as you reach out ahead of time and are nice. The exams are super easy as long as you study. You dont have to read your textbook since she covers everything in class, but the practice problems in there are great for studying.
Lots of readings, but don't have to do them because everything is covered thoroughly in class through powerpoints and lectures. If you take good notes or even grab them from someone else you'll be totally fine. Weekly assignments basically graded for completion. Tests have a lot of content, Quizlets for all the material can be found online though!
Fabian's Intro class is totally do-able! I won't say easy A but if you consistently go to class and take notes you will be fine. The only people I know doing poorly in her class do not come to class. She does not have a zoom option and does not post lectures or slides. Her class is the easier Intro class from what I have heard.
BEST PSYCH PROFESSOR, seriously take her or do not take this class. She is incredibly nice and informative. While attendance is definitely optional you do need to go to class, everything on the tests and quizzes is on the slides in class, and no you can not find the slides online. Study and do the homework it is very easy and you will do well.
Fabian is one of my favorite lectures at Tulane. She has clear, easy-to-follow slides coupled with each lecture (you need to take notes on them to do well on tests), but the way she explains class content is so understandable and interesting. Course material can get repetitive/ boring, but HIGHLY recommend her for an easy and fun psych course.
The tests come from her lectures where she goes over slideshows so I recommend downloading her blank slides and filling it in and you will get a good grade. very easy class, good lecturer, and class is very straight forward
She made concepts very clear and the class was easy. Attendance is not mandatory but she doesn't post the slides online and test content is directly from the PowerPoint so go to class and take good notes. Lectures were a little dry and repetitive though. Very easy to get an A if you study the content a little before the test.
Her class is very straight up and easy to follow. She gives 3 tests and a final (1 of them is droppable) and around 10 paragraph writing assignment throughout the semester which are extremely easy. Her classes are all lectures but they're interesting and her tests reflect what she goes over. Study a few days before test and your'e good.TAKE HER!
Her class structure is very easy to follow. She gives 3 tests and 1 final, and one of those can be dropped. There are also short writing assignments for each chapter and occasional quizzes, but they are very straightforward. She focuses on what she's going to put on the test in the lectures. So, as long as you go to class, it's very easy.
I loved Melinda! Super easy & straightforward class. Lectures are mostly interesting, although can get boring. If you take notes on all of the slides and do the short (and VERY easy weekly home works), you will do super well. No surprises on the tests, just what the slides say. She also gives you extra credit opportunities. TAKE HER for psych 1000.
Professor Fabian is great for adolescent psych. She gives quizzes every two chapter and 4 tests throughout the semester. You can also drop your lowest test score, and don't have to take the final if you are happy with your grade. She makes lectures very interesting and there are easy assignments for every chapter. Could not recommend her more!
Fabian is the best Psych 1000 professor out there. She assigns one assignment per unit, a 300-word paper answering a question. She lectures heavily, and it can get boring, but if you read the textbook and pay attention and take notes, you'll be fine. She also lets you drop your worst exam grade.
Fabian is a great professor! I seriously recommend everyone take one of her classes. Her lectures are super engaging and easy to follow. Her tests are also super straight-forward -- study the material lectured in class, and you will get an A. Over all, she is a professor setting you up for success.
Great professor. Not much to say just take her class and you will be happy
really interesting lectures and is somewhat engaging
Professor Fabian is an amazing human being, but she is not as accessible as she seems or shows she is. Her tests are hard but if you understand psych and are passionate, the class will prob be better for you. If you are just taking the class for major credit, have fun. She does do extra credit though which is nice!
Dr. Fabian has been the best psychology professor I've had at Tulane. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about her field. All requirements are clearly laid out in the syllabus, as well as the times and dates for assignments. Extra credit is offered, so take advantage. Tests come straight from her lectures, so come to class and take notes.
Great professor. All her lectures are interesting, and she teaches very entertainingly. The midterms are direct reflections of her lectures and are easy if you pay attention and take good notes. The only flaw is that she never posts any slides, so you must go to class to learn the information. But, if you only miss a few classes it isn't a problem.
I loved professor Fabian's class. She is a very passionate professor with a structured class and interesting material. 3 tests and 3 quizzes made up the majority of your grade along with the weekly 300 word reflections worth 5 points. It was my favorite class this semester and she was amazing. If you are taking intro to psych, take her class.
This course has very comprehensive content, but professor Fabian made it interesting. I love her! I decided to major in Psychology after I took this class. The assignments are easy but helpful in reviewing the concepts. It's not a hard class but definitely worth the time!
I would say that Dr. Fabian is one of the best profs you can take for this class. She is truly passionate and her lectures are VERY engaging. However, for someone who is not into psych that much, this class was tough because there was a lot of content that was covered for each test. She offers 3 diff extra credit opportunities so that saved me.
I loved Melinda! Definitely the best professor you can get for intro to psych, so choose her if she's available! Lectures can be dry, but the class is easy and straight forward so it is well worth it.
Rundown: -Lecture notes are your key to success. I don't think I ever looked at the book -A few (easily graded) chapter assignments and three midterms, an optional final (one drop), some extra credit -Her lectures are straightforward, and she makes learning fun! -Study a few days before the exams, and you'll do well.
Do not go to class - do the quizzlets - get a good grade - shes a good teacher.
Prof. Fabian/Cannon is super nice! She does assign a lot of reading from the textbook, but her lectures cover all the content you will need so I managed to do super well on all her exams and do all the writings well. I will also say that the exams are a style I love bc they are just 50 multiple choice questions based perfectly on her lectures.
LOVE Professor Fabian! I will say that this class is particularly easy (maybe even a little repetitive) if you took intro psych with her! It is the same situation where she assigns a lot of readings but she goes over everything you need for her exams (which are 50 MC questions based on class material) in class. I will note she wont post the slides*
Tests are confusing if you don't go to every class. Not great but not bad
Fabian's lectures are amazing! Truly learned a lot form her class, and she teaches a great intro level to Psych. Midterms can be hard, but they're not bad just a good amount of material. If you go to class and take notes you will be fine. Honestly harder to read the text book then show up to class, and the only downside is she does not post notes.
No papers. Just basic psych structure: a couple tests and quizzes. Extra credit available to complete on SONA. Love Fabian, this is my second class with her. Took her for Intro as well. She cares about what she is teaching and is incredibly engaging in her lectures. Go to class, take notes on the slides & read some of the txtbk and you'll get an A!
FABIAN IS AMAZING. She is caring, consistent, intelligent, straightforward, communicative, stable, and everything you want in a professor. She drops the lowest test grade, offers extra credit, and is quick to put in grades. I really recommend taking this course.
very clear and concise in her lectures and is open to questions. overall, i learned a decent amount from this class. The class is somewhat test heavy, but you can drop a test, and there are opportunities for extra credit.
Professor Fabian is a great professor. Everything on her test comes straight from the lecture slides, and everything is simplified to make the material more understandable. While there can be quite a bit to learn before each test, making flashcards and going over the notes will almost guarantee you an A in the course. Highly recommend.
Melinda is great. Her class was decently easy. You need to go to every class to take notes, but I also played games during every class and got an A. Just write everything down and study right before the test. She also drops the lowest test and has lots of extra credit. Def recommend if you're bschool. Easy and straightforward.
Dr. Fabian-Cannon's Intro Psych course is basically just lectures with slides, then big multiple choice exams. If you pay attention even slightly in class, you should be able to ace the tests with an A+. The only reason people do poorly in this class is because they skip lectures, and then the exam questions cover information from that lecture.
Professor Fabian is a good option for intro psych. Tests are pretty good if you're good at memorization. You don't have to attend lectures to do well; make sure you get notes from someone who copies the slides. Her tests are exactly the information on the slides. Don't bother buying the textbook; there are lots of online versions.
Much easier than other psych professors
Professor Fabian is a great teacher. She doesn't take attendance but she only posts incomplete slides so go to every class. Her lectures are very clear, everything she goes over is on the exams. There are 4 exams and you can drop the final or your lowest score. The tests are 50 multiple choice questions but the questions can be specific.
Prof. Fabian is the best out there for intro psych. Talking to students in other sections, her class is much easier and more engaging. The topics are interesting and she goes at a super reasonable pace. All test material is based exactly off the lecture material. If you go to class and take notes, exams will be a piece of cake.
She seems nice but her lectures feel patronizing. 3 midterms and a final, can drop 1 of them, has like 300 word homework and 3 quizes, tests are multiple choice lockdown browser in class. this is definitely an easy class but like nothing is really interesting, i used classtime to do other work or to do the homework for the class
Best prof to take for intro to psychology. Lots of memorization, but that's for every psyc class. She's super nice and gives extra credit. Highly recommend
Dr. Fabian is the best! Her lectures are very engaging and inspiring. Read ahead if you wish but especially come to class, attendance is not mandatory but it is honestly more work to read outside of class because she cuts the material down by a lot. You are only tested on what she talks about/what is on her slides. She also gives extra credit!
She is a great teacher who is very passionate about her teaching. Gives one paragraph due a month on the textbook but she summarizes them during her lectures. Tests are all multiple-choice and very easy. Attendance not mandatory would take again.
Amazing. Must take her. The best. So easy
Dr. Fabian was a great professor. Only 3 exams and 1 optional final to replace lowest exam score. Gives extra credit opportunities as well to increase your grade. Overall if you go to class and take lecture notes and study for exams you should get a good grade!
She is awesome. You either need to read the textbook or go to class, both you don't really need to do both, she covers most of the important material from the book in lecture. If you pay attention and study it's an easy A- an a very interesting class. Take her!!
She is super kind and lectures are engaging. All material comes straight out of the textbook which makes it super easy to review or make up material if absent. Each chapter has a 300 word assignment; they are typically super straight froward. 4 exams and she drops the lowest. Fair grader. Would recommend!
Dr. Cannon is amazing. 100% recommend. She is very kind, and you can just tell she genuinely wants you to succeed. She's always giving motherly advice; it's really sweet. She is always willing to answer questions. The class is also super easy. I never opened the textbook once. She gives extra credit opportunities and your lowest exam is dropped.
Loved Fabien. You do need to go to class to do well but shes really good at explaining the concepts and giving real life examples. You get to drop your worst exam grade which is nice. She was a great professor
Fabian is the best! Adolescent psych is a very manageable but interesting class. Attendance is not mandatory, but the lecture slides she posts on canvas do not include everything mentioned in class so going to class definitely helps. Take good notes and just show up and you'll get an A.
Dr. Fabian is great. You don't really need to read the text book as long as you pay attention to the lectures and take notes. The SI review sessions are also helpful. The exams are manageable as long as you study- there at 4 but you get to drop 1. She also gave extra credit. Overall cares about students a lot.
took her for intro and adolescent... . so easy to do well. attendance isnt mandatory but she doesn't post the slides filled in and says a lot of things in class that aren't on powerpoint - so helpful to go. theres a lot of material but so easy and tests are online canvas multiple choice. also gives a lot of extra credit through sona.. TAKE HER!!
Very passionate and knowledgeable professor with interesting lectures. If you go to class, you don't need to read the textbook as she covers everything important. The weekly assignments are light and graded easily. Tests are multiple choice. As someone who doesn't care about psych, I enjoyed the class and didn't struggle. def recommend.
Engaging lectures and manageable workload. Textbook aligned but with slides that make it easy to stay on top of the material. unstuckstudy proved helpful for exam prep. Would take this class again.
TAKE HER. i recommend going to every class because she only tests on things she says in class so you don't have to read textbook. her exams are easy - never trick questions. she has office hours and extra credit and writing assignments that boost your grade. you can also drop the final if you have an A after all three exams.
All you need to do is go to class which I learned the hard way. Class is interesting, she tells you what you need to know, and there are extra credit opportunities. Definitely recommend for a psych elective! Fabian is accommodating and genuine.
Go to class. I didn't even open the textbook, but everything on her tests is straight from the lectures. Provides extra credit if you need it and the option to drop final which was really nice.
Professor Fabian is great. If you go to class you'll do good in the class. Her tests are easy and she covers everything in class. She also offers extra credit opportunities.
all i did was go to class and take notes in class. also went to SI once a week. went over notes for 30 min before each test, and took SI practice test. so manageable and easy. so so interesting too! she has a great lecturing voice, i feel like i'm listening to a great story. learned SO much.
I love Fabian. Its one 300 word paragraph per chapter and 4 tests (one can be dropped including final). Very manageable and definitely recommend. Tests can be hars so you do have to study a lot for them, however if you do the work and understand the material, you'll do good.
Prof. Fabian-Cannon is super nice, and her class is well organized. It is easy to follow and if you pay attention in class and brush up before the test you will do well. She does not post full slides to canvas, but the SI makes super clear ones. Overall I would recommend this class, easy and interesting!
Love her so much. Take this class. Her lectures are interesting and organized. She teaches the content in a way you won't forget it. Never opened the textbook and learned purely out of class presentations. The SI notes are all you need to pass the class. Exams are easy if you study fairly for them.
LOVE! She is an amazing lecturer and she clearly loves her job. She cares about her students and wants everyone to succeed. There are weekly assignments and 3 easy quizzes for a grade. She offers plenty of extra credit, but her tests are honestly so easy you might not need it. All of the info you need are on her slides and she purely tests on that.
Great Proffesor for into to psych. Get ready to memorize A LOT
Her class is extremely lecture heavy and her lecture slides aren't available on Canvas so it is important to attend class. You also need to be sure to read the textbook as 50% of the exams come from the textbooks. I wouldn't take her again but she is apparently the nicest of the PSYCH 1000 teachers.
She gives three extra point bonus opportunities and as long as you attend class you will be able to understand how to do the tests.
She's an amazing teacher and makes the curriculum engaging. Her lectures aren't mandatory, but they definitely help and set you up for success. The assignments are easy, the quizzes are straightforward, and there are 4 exams, including the final, with an option to drop your lowest score.
Such an engaging professor! Top-tier lectures, she's the best choice for PSYC-1000! Three exams + final, bottom exam is dropped, then writing assignments for each chapter and three quizzes but they are easy, and extra credit! Attendance isn't mandatory, but go it's helpful. She only grades on what's said in class so reading textbook isn't necessary
Just study the SI presentations and practice tests the night before.
everything is multiple choice which makes sense, and all her questions are applied which for me makes it worse tbh. you don't only need to memorize but you need to actually grasp the concept in another scenario. it's nice the final can replace a grade. also for the chapter homework's her TAs are harsh graders and not super kind
I loved psych 1000 with fabian. I recently declared it my minor because of this class. Her voice is kind of annoying tbh (talks to us like we're little kids), but her lectures were interesting, and she truly wants to make sure her students understand the material. she is by far the best prof for psych 1000
She is a great professor, especially if you are very interested in learning the basics of Psychology. Quite some writing and three exams, and one final, but other than that, if you go to the lectures and take on any extra credit is helpful, as well as office hours.
Great professor very interesting lectures you can tell she's passionate about Psych. A lot of the examples on tests come from examples used in class so go to every class. Homework is easy one assignment a week 4 tests lowest is dropped that includes the final and she has extra credit at the end of the semester.
No attendance required. But go to class for notes or else you will miss out. She's very chill and her lectures are cool. It's an easy class. 4 exams but she only takes the highest 3. Assignment every weeks and there are quizzes too.
Take her!!
She is amazing and one of the best professors I've had at Tulane. I actually enjoyed going to class everyday.
Cannon was chill. Four tests, drop lowest. Exams entirely slideshow content- don't read the book. She doesn't track attendance, but you need notes from every class. Just go to class, write the notes, and then memorize them before the test. Our class did so well on every exam. A lot of direct/inverse relationship stuff, risk factors, psychopathology
I LOVE HER SHE IS SUCH A GREAT TEACHER AND HER LECTURES ARE SO INTERESTING
Go to class to get the notes and study well for the tests. The first midterm is harder than the other two. Very easy to get an A if you put the effort into it. Weekly chapter assignments which are not hard. Love her lectures and would take her again.
Adolescent psych was so easy. Honestly no reason to not get an A in this class if u just show up to lecture and write some things down. Also lots of extra credit opportunities. Fabian is super clear-cut with content and exams are really simple. This class was honestly j so enjoyable and she is such a good professor who really knows how to teach.
if you show up to class and listen + take good notes, ur all set. she HATES when people email her though, so if you have a question or want to go over something, set up a time to talk to her in person. Also, make sure to go over the third test w her before the final if you have to take it because a lot of the final is repeat questions from that.
