Oral Interp. Took just for credit, ending up rather enjoying the class. If you can get over worrying about looking or sounding "stupid" or foolish, you'll do well. Approach this class w/enthusiasm & you'll do fine. The performances are much better to do & watch when people have clearly prepared/tried to "memorize" at least some of their pieces.

Melinda is super nice. I definitely learned a lot from her instructing style that's non intimidating. She is very engaging in terms of saying things to make students think and react. If you do all her work and show up almost every meeting, it is hard to not do well in her class. One of the best human beings you'll ever find in this world

She is an awesome teacher. She makes you interact with everyone in the class. By the end of the semester, you will be very open and comfortable with talking with others.. if you havent already. her style of teaching makes you want to attend class. Minimal homework. and tests are simple. Easy note taking. Took her for 2 semesters now!

Didnt take her at LBC but rather at GWC for public speaking. Truly makes you feel comfortable with speaking in public and is very clear about what shes looking for and helps you get to a level of speaking that she expects from you. Really cool teacher. Also...shes EXTREMELY sexy.

this is a great class to take in the summer, or if you already have a heavy load. you have to write a 6 page paper, exams are on scantrons, you have to make a collage. dont chew gum during a presentation. this class will help your GPA. shes fun

LOVE MS. MANLOWE! Amazing teacher for sure! Very helpful, and very kind! Best teacher I have had yet. Take her over summer if you need to knock out a class. She's super fun and never a bore! You don't necessarily need the book, but I got it and got an A in the class. Take her! It'll make your semester!

I said that I would give her 5 stars so here are her 5 stars!!! Basically, if you don't take Manlowe for Speech 10, you're an idiot. She's very helpful and makes it comfortable for you to go up to the front of class and publicly speak. She's not harsh on her grading but rather lenient. She's an awesome teacher! Don't take Speech with anyone else!

I RECOMMEND THIS CLASS. I TOOK IT OVER THE SUMMER AND ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. MS.MANLOWE REALLY HELPS ALOT AND SHE IS VERY EASY AT GRADING. I RECOMMEN THIS TEACHER. YOU RARELY USE THE BOOK SO I RECOMMEND NOT BUYING IT.

She's a great teacher but this particular class, Oral Interp you should consider asking yourself "do I really want to act?" If not try SP 10 that's a great class to improve your public speaking skills :)

3 short answer scantron exams, not too difficult. each 20% of grade, complex group project 20%, 1 simple paper 10%. must attend class but is flexable if you have something important you need to workout. 2% of simple extra credit. its mostly a relaxing enjoyable discussion going on in class. there are several versions of the book you can use.

Ms. Manlowe was awesome! I really enjoyed her class because she made it fun. I was super nervous about taking a speech class but she made me feel very comfortable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER!

This professor changed my life. She taught me how to appreciate literature, and how to present myself in front of crowds. It feels like an acting class, but once you take it, you'll understand the importance of creative reading :) Take her!! Take her! You will NOT regret it!

BEST PROFESSOR EVER! she understand that people don't like speaking in public so she makes it a comfortable environment and really helps you. never says anything out loud about your speech, even if you did terrible. seriously take her!

Manlowe is such a wonderful teacher! Very kind, understanding, and helpful! The class was super fun and easy. You only have one (easy) test and four performances/ presentations, but they're lots of fun! Take her, you won't regret it!

She is very nice. Very airy and makes everyone's statements feel important. Content onthe class is boring but she brightens it up with slightly off topic rambling. She will give funny examples of failed interpersonal communication. Would definitely take her again. Good chill, low priority class

Very kind, open minded, and helpful; she is a genuinely great person and teacher. I never bought the text book, but it's not necessary if you have good attendance. She goes over everything you need to know in her lectures and reviews. Definitely take this class for your speech requirement, especially if you don't like public speaking.

Easiest class I've ever taken in my college years. And not because there isn't a lot of work, but because she isn't a complex instructor. Very easy going and kind. I absolutely loved her class. You'd be insane not to take her courses.

Great teacher and class felt like a hang out and not an actual class. Easy if you can "perform" in front of class, hard if you are embarrassed easily. She makes you feel at home and pushes you for the best you can be, not just what gets you an A. Pretty damn hot for a 30-40 something too!

Pay attention and you will get an A. Tests aren't hard but you do need to pay attention. You can't BS here but she makes it so fun, who wouldn't want to be in class. Only downfall is group projects. If you are stuck will loser students, your screwed. She wants the group to figure out their problems instead of her putting her foot down.

Easy class, Take notes and read text book and you will do fine. One mid-term and one final. Five homework’s (easy hw) and two shares one in front of the class and one in a group. She gives extra credit opportunity. I recommend her class.

Overall a good teacher. I averaged a C on the test but the papers that you write a had 50/ 50. Shes pretty fair. Also try to take christina moorhead a had a A in her class.

She is hands-down the most dedicated teacher in the communications department, and her classes are so entertaining! Imagine taking a class with Zooey Deschanel's cool aunt teaching it.

She is one of the easiest teachers you can have (in any of her COMM classes.) Barely used the textbook, and no homework. COMM 50 is basically a dramatic reading class. The hardest part is just having the courage to stand up and speak in front of the class.

GREAT teacher! You will not be disappointed with her or any of her classes. Highly recommend.

I didn't know what to expect from Intercultural Comm, but I found it to be eye opening. Prof. Manlowe is very nice, but doesn't play around when it comes to multiple absences or tardies. The test are fairly ease if you study. The group project at the end is very important so don't slack on that. The more you get the class involved the better.

i took all my comm classes :D and i got all a's she's super friendly and its a mellow class to take, theres only like 3-4 hw assignments and she gives you a study guide for all the tests. you should take her she rocks :D

If you're trying to take comm 60 with her just know this class is about performing! (Don't be afraid) it was quiet fun. Easy grader, 4 performances, one test (final). By the end of the semester I had 89% but she wouldn't bump it up because she's already an easy grader. I usually got 4650 on my performances but the final messed me up (4050) :(

Professor Manlowe's class was really fun. However, for those who may have stage fright or who are extremely shy, her comm 50 class might not be for you since you have to "act out" pieces of literature. It was an interesting class though. She's very funny and so pretty! I always looked forward going to her class.

Her class was fun even though i hated those 3 times we had to go in front of the class to share something. She's very funny and liked picking on some students which didn't seem to mind cuz they'd answer with the dumbest response. Great class!! 1 lone wolf presentation at the beginning + 3 exams + final which is a group presentation.

This class is not for those who would rather die than speak in public, but if you set your fears aside long enough to 'perform' past your first assignment, you'll find a very positive, fun and supportive environment is there to keep you safe for the rest of the semester. Not a lot of reading, and if you pay attention to any lectures, you'll do well

Ms. Manlowe is one of the best communication professors at LBCC. She makes her lectures very clear and easy to understand. There 3 exams and she gives out a study guide with everything that will be on the exams. One group presentation at the end and a small one in the beginning of the semester. She is hilarious and her lectures are fun.

Professor Manlowe makes life so easy because she's a professor that cares about her students, uses a trustworthy and excellent scoring system that's easy to follow and understand. She has a great sense of humor and her lectures are fun. You'll know when she gets serious though, but mostly she's a sweetheart. Just be respectful & responsible

Professor Manlowe is great! really nice and caring for her students. Her class overall is easy. 3 tests, study guide provided which has everything that will be on the tests! 1 artifact presentation and 1 big group presentation which has to be 40 mins but don't worry sounds scarier than it actually is. the presentation is actually fun. take her !

Amazing professor. She doesn't assign that much homework so attendance is more important. As long as you do the assignments given, and attend lecture you will pass. The best part is that the prof gives a review paper before exams and doesn't mislead on what to study for. If you study what's on the paper you will pass exams with an A.

Amazing class! Professor Manlowe is very caring and she makes it easy for students to participate comfortably. This class is interpenetrating poems and prose, but it wasn't as intimidating as it may sound. The majority of the class was participation and presentations, so be prepared to get out of your comfort zone. This class improved my skills!

She's very clear in her lectures. You don't really have to read the whole chapters of the book may be just the main points, and you'll be fine. Exams are easy especially if you study. There are different ways for you to keep your grade up is not only about the exam. If you miss class, as long as you know what's on the syllabus you'll be fine.

She talks a lot but is fairly easy. She lets you know what she wants, so follow that and you'll pass. Not that much homework. A few papers, 3 tests and that is pretty much it. Grades easy.

I took her twice already comm 50 and comm 25. Her classes are fun to take and lectures are insightful. Just be friendly with your classmates you'll have a great time learning.

I often made her laugh. This is one of those classes where you can get an A or B, but you feel annoyed if you have an B. A really good teacher and she does prove the value in actually being a solid public speaker. You have 5 speeches, 5 quizzes, an analysis of someone else's speech and a take home exam. It's an informative and super easy class.

Melinda has a great personality. She explain to you exactly what she expects from you. There is no hidden agenda. If you do not to stand in front of the class to present your project then this is not the class for you. If you are trying to overcome that same fear she will help you thru it. She is a fair professor with a vivid imagination.

Professor Manlowe is a great teacher. If you show up and do the work you should have no problem passing the class. She was also super accessible and flexible when we switched from in-person classes to online because of the pandemic.

Prof Manlowe is a very nice and understanding professor. The class is easy as long as you follow the modules. Her video lectures are also very helpful, definitely watch them if you are an online async class. There aren't too many assignments, I wasn't stressed at all with this class. The big point assignments are 3 exams and two papers. Great class

When I saw that this class was in my Ed Plan, I was so worried, because I don't really love speaking that much in front of a lot of people. But, Ms. Manlowe really helped me to learn the basics of public speaking and taught us some way to manage speech anxiety. I really loved how the way she teach and how she really pays attention to every speeches

Professor Mallow is an amazing instructor. Most profs' don't bother with feedback or communication but she actually give feedback of substance and truly cares. She is present when you need her and is more than willing to help you as a student. I can't speak highly enough of her, and hope she see's my Thank you to her. Truly a top tier professor!
