really nice teacher! Her class is hard because of the way she lectures. I found it hard to understand what she was trying to lecture. Although she does go up in the tutoring center and help students. I passed this class with an easy A because i went to the Tutoring center everyday when i had homework, study for exams, & etc! she gives EXTRA CREDIT!
Shae is extremly help ful test is esay and very fair with grading.
Awesome Instructor! She encourages student interaction and lets us help teach each other. She challenges students to earn there grade. C'mon its calculus! What do you expect? I would recommend her for anyone who is familiar with and enjoys math.
Pretty nice teacher, not very explanatory.
I found that Ms Rudibaugh was very difficult. She assumes that everyone already understands calculus. She uses an online book which means you cant take a book to class, and she is very hard to understand! if you are bad at math, STAY FAR AWAY.
This professor was not helpful during or after class. If it wasn't for the math tutoring center I would not have passed her class.
Worst teacher I've ever had in my whole life. if this is your first time taking calculus good luck. She doesn't explain anything and she doesn't give any examples. you pretty much have to teach yourself
terrible teacher. she barely goes over topics and expects you to instantly know the material. and if you have a question, don't bother. she will just tell you to ask a classmate. worst math teacher i have ever had.
Gives plenty of extra credit and chances... allows for test corrections. Wants you to pass the class.
She wants everyone to pass.... will do what she can to help before and after class. She tutors in the center also. She isn't always clear on how she explains but overall she is a great teacher
TOUGH teacher she does hand out 10 to 15 sheets and you need to do them to learn. she will lecture briefly the idea of topic on hand, but then you need to learn further yourself. Great teacher overall wants you to pass and learn the material. No excuse for B or A grade.
to be honest, melinda is a very nice and helpful lady. however, the previous comment is true too. She hands out a lot (tons)of notes/hw but didnt give us a clear due date. The online materials are not helpful at all and 90% of the class did not do any of them. Tutoring and self learning is a must. Again, she is a nice teacher afterall.
Go to service learning. Do enough homework to understand the concepts. Go to class. Get a A.
I admit I was lazy. She encouraged me when I couldn't encourage myself. Sorry I didn't make it through--my fault. Hybrid classes are not for me.
Very accessible. She answers email right away. Lots of study sessions.
I was just poking around Rate My Professor and realized I never posted anything. I have a wonderful scholarship thanks to Mrs. R. I really got hooked on the service learning project last two years ago when I was in her class. The experience was what I needed to qualify for the scholarship. She also wrote me a great letter of reference.
Hybrids are not for everyone. Go to study sessions, her office, or learning center. Also, she helps online.
Very nice and helpful all of the time--had to call her at home once, too.
So far so good in summer school!
Miss her helpfulness. My teacher this summer runs out of the room
Love my EDU250 class! Just what I needed. This is the third time I have attempted to post this.
I miss everyone--it's too long between weekend classes! Love this class!
Take her active learning class-it will change the way you teach! Phenomenal!!
Highly recommend this teacher
At the time I thought she was way too demanding with all of the homework. Now I am glad that she expected a lot out of me. And she was all ways there to help if I came by.
If you are planning on teaching at the community college---or anywhere---take this course FIRST and take it from MELINDA. I learned SO MUCH!!!!!!!
If you have to take EDU250, take it from Melinda! I dreaded taking the course--thought it was going to be a waste of time--enjoyed it immensely and took away so much to implement into my classes. Yay!
First class was a great! I was afraid to take the course. In our first class we reviewed using a game and learned so much!
This teacher has many options for success. I am not sure about service learning but I like that I can choose what to do to get the grade I want. That motivates me.
I have never had a teacher be more responsive to requests for help. She answers email 5 times a day
Mrs R is very fair. I learn a lot by having a chance to rework my mistakes.
Thanks for the encouragement, Mrs. R.
You wouldnt let me quit. I am almost thru it! Thanks for believing I could do it.
I wish this course were two days a week. Why put such a good teacher in hybrids?
Never saw a teacher work harder to help her students succeed.
Very clear explanations!First time this stuff EVER made sense to me!
She answers emails quickly and is always willing to help. I was dreading this class esp online, but I know Im going to make it. Things are spaced well. The videos help.
Friend in class told me about the comments. Must refute!! MrsR is the kindest teacher for a tough subject I have ever had.
Mrs. R is great--she answers questions fast. If you have to take math online--take her--she will help you get through it. It's not the best way to take math but I didn't have any other choice with my work.
First off, teacher is very flexible which is really nice. But this is awful to take online! The book is terrible, assignments are long and repetitive, and exams are not very well written. If anything, just avoid taking this class online.
Great professor will definitely take courses with her in the future. Always available to help and looks out for the best interest in her students. If you put the work in you will do great. (Online) be willing to attend the tutor center prior to exams to be familiar with the test she gives out practice exams that are almost identical to the exam.
Excellent! I passed!!!
What can I say? I made it!
She honestly cares about her students. Everyone says that but no one takes the time to write. She has stayed very late to help me--twice now. Some have told me she even comes in on Sunday to help students.
An amazing person and valuable member of the community at CGCC. She truly cares for her students. One fault: may give confusing (sometimes stressful) lectures on calculus concepts. However, she provides every student with an abundance of resources to learn independently. Effort and self-pace is important in this class.
Insane how much time was spent on arts and crafts during this calculus class. With that being said, I received a grade well beyond 100%. If you participate and put minimal study time in ,this class is an easy easy Calc course. Engineers beware! If you really want to learn calculus to build a solid foundation, you will be far behind after this class
There are a ton of great math teachers at CGC, and if you can, take someone else. Sure, you can get an A with the extra credit, but it's a frustrating class with a disorganized prof. TIP: If you have to take her, make sure to watch any relevant videos the night before. It's supposed to be a flipped class, but that part really wasn't clear at first.
Have been through 3 semesters of calc with Mrs R and am doing super at advanced courses! (Engineering). I have a much more in-depth background than many of my study mates.
She answers emails right away. Always there to help! If you have to take an online math class-don't--but if you have to take mrs R!
Better watch out for Canvas and pay attention. She tries hard to let you know what to do.
She's is a very kind person and gives so many points that you basically have to try to fail. She's also very willing to help people and will set up appointments to help you if you really need it.
Mrs. Rudibaugh is amazing! An inspiration to be around! She is very easy-going and lenient with her students, but expects the same courtesy. She also expects her students to be adults. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE! Basically, to get an A, you have to work out 900 problems on your own (for 900 points). If you practice BEFORE a test, you can maximize pts.
I cannot express my appreciation enough for Rudibaugh! She was amazing to work with and she will help you in any way she possibly can. I took her online so I'm not sure how the lectures are but just know that if you put in the effort you will pass. Super laid back and such a sweet lady!
She is the most caring teacher I have ever had. Even though she had horrific family emergency, she was there for us. She answers emails almost immediately. the class is point based so there are many options to get to the grade you want to work to. Some people can't seem to figure that out. Some people think they are so smart and act like 2nd gr
Organized a grid for us to let us know what was due when. Though she often was flexible in changing dates if we were struggling. Said she didn't care when we learned it as long as we learned it. Just unfortunate that at the end she was having medical issues to deal with. Grading was extremely fair.
The most patient and caring teacher ever! She answers emails right away, met with me on weekends and understood when I got behind due to my job.
I took Calc212 online with Dr. Rudibaugh in the Spring after dropping calc213 the last session in Dec.2014. I can not emphasize enough how helpful Dr. Rudibagh was during the semester. VERY VERY understanding and flexible about late submissions. She would do anything she possibly could to help students understand the materials.
This class is actually fun!!! I look forward to each week. We have a lively group but we all help each other. I like learning from the games we have now and then. She is also very fair in fixing mistakes on Canvas or giving us extra time if we need it.
She is very helpful. I mean she will be there on weekends, evenings, etc. she ansers emails very quickly
She's a sweet, hard working teacher she goes completely our of her way to help you all through out the semester.
She offers a million extra credit opportunities and is super nice. However, beware of the fact that your canvas grade is not your actual grade in this class. She puts a giant basket of candy out every day so that you can go and eat candy whenever you want to, and she gives you stickers, which are worth points if you participate.
Just do the work. If you sign up for a hybrid class you know you need to work outside class.
shes an amazing teacher, very sweet and helpful. I'm glad I picked her over any other teacher at cgcc
Professor Rudibaugh has to be one of the coldest, greatest calculus professors of all time. Man, she's really cool and flexible with assignments along with tests. If you want to receive an A, this is the class for you.
Professor Rudibaugh made taking this course online much easier than it could've been. She posts practice quizzes that are similar to the ones you take in the testing center. Weekly homework is usually "watch this video and write two thing you learn". She is always willing to help in person if you just send her a message and will meet in her office.
I regret taking her class. Very unclear what is expected. 2 months in and no one knew what was due. She doesnt teach. Already expects you to know the material. Communications is horrible and the class is very unorganized. She is super nice and offers study sessions. Allows for rework on any assignment. Which makes it easy to boost your grade.
She is a very nice person and is very understanding that life happens and that's shown with the numerous study sessions she offers and giving students to take tests outside of class. However, she is very unclear on what she asks for. Every class students were looking at each other wondering what was due that day as her deadlines were always changed
Rudibaugh is such a kind, caring lady. She wants her students to succeed. If you take her hybrid class, be prepared to do some work outside of class, such as watch video clips and do some worksheets. Exams are simple if you study. She will respond to emails quickly, and holds plenty office hours.
She is awesome! I struggle in math and she helped me pull through the semester and pass calculus! She wants you to learn. Take the time to do the homework and you will pass. If you are struggling, she will make all the time in the world for you. She will come in on the weekends just to help you understand the material. She cares about her students!
Rudibaugh is used to hybrid classes in which she expects students to learn the material on their own and reviews in class but does not answer questions. When reviewing, she expects people to teach her rather than going over material and clarifying and verifying correct answers. 0/10 would reccomend. Only good thing is pretty lienent on grading.
The class may seem disorganized at first, but stick with it and ask questions. She is the most accessible instructor I've ever had. She has office hours multiple days a week including Sunday. She will give things like partial credit, or retries, as long as you are showing the effort. Makes liberal use of good third party tutorials.
Had a bad experience with Ms. Rudibaugh in Math151. She was our substitute for most of the semester. I think she had a hard time working with the schedule of the previous teacher. Felt like I had learned virtually nothing even though I payed close attention. Most of the class ended up having to look everything up ourselves instead of her teaching.
Melinda Rudibaugh is an amazing teacher. She wants you to get some knowledge about the next class so she assigns video tutorials watch . I definitely recommend her.
She is is extremely caring. She goes over concepts in class slowly and thoroughly. If you put in the work, you will get a lot of practice and get really good at calculus. Even if you arent great at calculus, you can pass her class without too much sweat- she offers a LOT of extra credit. Also, there's a $20 loose-leaf packet instead of a $300 book.
This prof. was absolutely miserable to deal with. Very unclear on her grading criteria, classes were always confusing and disorienting, and she is completely inept at keeping things together. At one point I asked her to look over a test and she had completely forgotten to grade a 20 point problem. I will never have her again.
Pay attention to when she announces the homework otherwise you will not know when anything is due. She is unorganized but offers plenty of extra credit. This is a hybrid class so be prepared to learn practically everything all on your own. Complete all of the assignments early or on time, waiting till the last second may result in no grade. CANVAS
Mrs. Rudibaugh is one of the nicest most caring people I've ever met. She takes on extra class just so they don't get cancelled and the most amount of students have the opportunity to learn. Which means she lives, eats, and breathes school. Always there for you if you try. Don't take advantage of her, she may seem like she doesn't know. She knows!
Tries every which way. Hybrids are not for sissies. You have to work outside of class. She must sleep at the college to be as much help as she can for us If you are a complainer you didn't ask for help
Although it's been over a year since I took MAT212 from Melinda, she is really wonderful. We've kept in touch after class ended and she was the one who recommended which instructor to take MAT217 from. As long as you're willing to do the work, she will work with you. Awesome study groups, too.
Rudibaugh is a very nice lady, but unfortunately she doesn't know how to teach a class. The class was completely disorganized. A lot of class time was wasted looking through her enormous heap of papers from her various classes looking for our assignments (not a joke). Her lectures were okay. She gave a LOT of extra credit, though, which was nice.
She is awesome! I took her for Calc 2 and I loved it. She assigns homework but she will give you extra time to do them if you don't have them ready. Her exams are super easy. Her teaching is alright but she makes it easy for you to understand. Overall, she is amazing! Definitely take her.
Wonderful instructor, helped a lot with understanding the topics. Gives a lot of papers every class and I was confused about the due dates of a lot of items. Quite a lot of canvas assignments but overall a great instructor and I would take again
Ok presentation of material. Lots of extra credit offered which I would recommend taking advantage of. Easy to get an A compared to other calc classes.
