Professor Hartmann kicks ass! Not only is she clear in what she expects from students in the beginning of the course and throughout, but she takes the time necessary to help any and ALL students in any ways needed. She is extremely helpful, intelligent, efficient and informative, and she truly takes an interest in her students. She's fantastic!

Excellent teacher, makes the class interesting and is funny. Just do not have your cell phone on or be late to her class. She goes by the syllabus which is helpful. Do the readings because there are quizzes on them every time

Hartmann ROCKS!!! She is such a great teacher. She teaches real world applications and gives honest feedback to all questions. She's a great teacher. I took the online course and she was really helpful. It's a surprise since most people isn't so organized with their blackboard page or as organized as her. She pushes you really hard in some parts, like business letters and resume. But she reallys gets you ready for the business world or the real world.

She is one of the best instructers I've ever taken. She tries to scare you on the first day, but don't let her fool you, she is very nice and lets you know exactly what she expects so there is no confusion. The only thing is that she hates when cell phones ring or vibrate, so make sure you turn those off or she will deduct points from your grade.

she is helpful and the work is easy. the only problem is her ego. sometimes its gets too big during lectures. she gets upset when someone leaves early. dont't leave early or have your phone ring during class, she will let you known how she feels when you recieve your grade!

Well, I can see why you don't like Professor Hartmann. You appear to be illiterate. She is a great Professor and uses real life examples and language. She hardly cusses. If you can't handle a simple college class then you won't make it in the real world, especially the business world. Be accountable for yourself it isn't her fault you can't write!

LOVED THIS CLASS! I have learned more from this class than any other class I have EVER taken. She is an awesome teacher and wants to help you succeed. My only complaint is that I had a hard time getting feedback from her. She told everyone that you can bring your papers to her before they're due (so she can give you pointers) and I tried a few times but she always had a reason to turn me away. She completely shows favortism.

Prof. Hartmann is a wonderful teacher. Her class may seem difficult, but it's not. Just make sure to do your assignments on time and go to class. Go to her office hours for help if you need to. Her grading may be tougher than what you are use to, so make sure you get help from her prior to due dates. She really is a helpful instructor.

I think that Prof. Hartmann is very fair. She treats all the students the same. She will stay after class or have special meeting hours if you need them. I was extremely grateful for that! Also, her class is always interesting. You can tell she has a true passion for english and writing both.

After being a student at CSUSB for almost 4 years I haven't had a better instructor. Professor Hartmann is CSUSB's most valuable asset. Notice that the people who gave her bad ratings had her for an online course. You can't truly get to know Hartmann unless you go to her class so I don't think that the ratings that came from online people are valid

She is a good teacher overall. She's very (anal)itical about grammer but it should be expected. Expects you to be there on time no matter what. I thought she was somewhat bias towards certain students.. so watch what you say. You will learn alot if you apply yourself :o!

Hartmann (don't misspell her name because she hates that...) is 1 of the hardest teachers on campus, but you will learn so much if you actually try. Live in her office and don?t be intimidated by her!!! All the people before who rated her class poorly have either received a bad grade in her class or refuse to work hard for what they really deserve!

online class is horrible. You have 5 minutes to take a quiz. time is exact. Her grading sucks.I made 1 mistake on a paper i wrote and i lost 10 points for it. A whole letter grade in her class.Don't try emailing her, either you don't a response at all or it'll take more then a week at least to hear from her. I got a B+ in her class and never again!

I do not know what this person below me is talking about. She is a great teacher. She walks you through your papers and tells you what to put in them. Answers emails right away!! If you do the reading the quizzes are easy. Basically your grade in the class will reflect how much effort you put into the class. GREAT TEACHER AND WOULD TAKE HER AGAIN!

She's a great professor. Very nice, passionate about what she does, and always answers questions clearly. She's a tough grader - she deducts a full letter grade for each error after the first 2 or 3 - so PROOFREAD YOUR WORK FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! You basically get what you put into this class. You have to take a 306 class to graduate you might as well take it with a professor who actually cares about her students. This is not an easy course and she is a very hard grader but she is always available to help This course will make you a better writer and she is so funny FYI if you make more then 5 errors on a paper you get an F on the paper

I absolutely loved her class! She has a great sense of humor and there was not one day he did not make me laugh. I learned something new every day! She really takes her time with every student and goes out of her way to make sure you understand the material. Yes, she deducts a grade for every punctuation error but c'mon people you in college!

I took Professor Bakeman during the summer. It was an intense class. You'd better have your textbook before the class starts. Bakeman is fire dawg! I took her class over the summer and received a C+. The exams come straight from the book so have it before the course begins. She is willing to help you out but you have to put in work to get it. IF you a lazy bum, don't expect her to give you a good grade. The assignments are straight forward. Professor Bakeman is a brilliant instructor. She makes a dull subject fun, practical, and exciting. She's an extremely tough grader, but you know you deserve the grade when you do well. She gives plenty of instructions and feedback, and is pretty good about responding to emails. She really takes an interest in her students success.

She was really good about giving constant feedback. Probably the only thing that was difficult was the fact that it was an online class and sometimes the directions weren't as clear as if you were face-to-face. If you need help tho, shes really helpful at office hours and explain it well (in person)

When I was selecting my required English course, I had to select an online course due to my internship and long commute. I was hesitant due to some of the negative reviews. I would definitely take this class again! She genuinely cares if the students understand the subject & makes herself available when needed. She is a tough grader, but attend class regularly & get your papers revised by her or the CPBA writing center & you're going to do well. Also, read the text! there are quizzes based on the reading & lecture.

Bakeman gives pop quizzes so missing class is not optional unless you don't want to pass. you need the books, you read them and thats what the quizzes are based off of, but the reading is minimal. There's a lot of group work and chances of speaking in front of the class, so if you're an international student and not confident in English yet, don't take her class. Also, she's really a tough grader, tougher than other 306 instructors. Go to CBPA writing center every week to pick up errors in your assignment. OVERALL her class was AMAZING.

Mellisa comes off a sweet professor in the begining but you dont know what your in for when you enter the weeks to come. Her class becomes demanding and she gets more high maintenance as well with her material. You wont be comfortable in her class after the 1st week.

First time taking an online class and it was a bit difficult. I'd definitely recommend taking this class in person. Seems like I would've a received a lot more knowledge by being in a classroom with her. But online wasn't too hard, just very hard to get good feedback and hard to get the specific details required for each assignment. Recommended!

Great Professor! She gives quite a few writing assignments but they are all on topics that you pick, which is easier than writing about something you don't care about. There is a quiz almost every class in the beginning of class, if you are late to class you miss the quiz which is worth 100 pts. Make sure your on time or the quizzes will kill you!

Professor Bakeman is who you want to have as a professor and be as a person. She is extremely knowledgeable in her field, funny, helpful and fair. She is one of those professors who actually teaches and will help you to become a better writer. She is not mean, she stresses the fact that in business there are due dates and that you need to abide by them. I would take her again in a heartbeat. You try and you will pass!!!

Best college professor I've ever had and I truly hate writing! If you want to learn and actually earn your grade then take Professor Bakeman, but if you just want to pass go find another teacher. Professor Bakeman grades hard but if you do get a good grade you know without a doubt that you earned it! She is more concerned with you learning!

She says she isn't a tough grader but she is. But at least she gives good feedback on papers and the chance to redo them. She's pretty funny and caring in class. A lot of pop up quizzes so be sure to read the textbook and attend class

Professor Bakeman is a wonderful professor. She's a tough grader and has high expectations, however the feedback she provides is helpful and relevant in real life situations. She is always available and changes your lowest Quiz score to 100% if you visit the Writing Center. Be creative. Always review your work . Work hard and you will pass.

Professor Bakman was a REAL teacher and is definitely tough however, I did learned so much in her class that I will actually apply in my career. With that being said, if you are lazy and don't read you will NOT pass! There is a ton of reading and you will get quizzed. If you want to learn take her class otherwise pick and easier teacher.

Professor Bakeman's class was one of the most memorable and fun classes in my entire college experience. She really goes the extra mile for all of her students and she's the kind of person who will make you look forward to going to an 8AM class. The best teachers are those who care more about our impact once we leave the class rather than the grade we can receive in the class. Bakeman is a tough grader very clear and stern about attendance straight forward with all of her feedback and loves pop quizzes. She is also very kind and empathetic, just remember you get what you give in her class.

Professor Bakeman was great to have for ADMN 6020 at CSU! She is extremely communicative, and is very approachable. Since the class was online, she held virtual zoom office hours every week which was super helpful. As long as you are willing to put in the effort you will learn a lot about business communication.

You will learn how to write an effective resume, memo, email, and among other material. Do not be afraid to ask for help, she is there for you, you just have to let her know and she will respond. At first, I disliked the class, but Professor Bakeman's class structure is to resemble the real world. You have to think like a CEO about literacy in business writing. Mel Bakeman is a true gem. She got me SO ready for business writing. I've used the materials I prepared in her class in the real world, and hiring managers are impressed. I got the first job I interviewed for out of college, and I'm convinced it was thanks in a big way to Mel. Her class is very engaging, and she truly cares about students.

Mel Bakeman is one of the best professors I've ever taken. Her Business Writing class prepared me more for my professional career than any other class I've taken so far. She's very passionate about the material and makes sure everyone understands it. My only regret is taking her class in summer session, I'm sure a full session would be great.

Professor Bakeman is really tough when it comes to her grading, but only because she wants you to do your best. She doesnt give you unnecessary work but gives us things that will benefit us in the future for work. Just make sure you dont miss class, do your readings and dont procrastinate on her assignments. She pushes students out of their comfort zones but is really encouraging while doing so. She is very understanding when it comes to her students. Take her class it's amazing.

I had a great time in this class she was always willing to help and look over assignments before turning them in on due date. Prof, Bakeman is a funny and caring prof. she is passionate for what she teaches. Few assignments but does grade strictly, just follow instructions and pay attention in class. Attendance is CRUCIAL! U have random quizzes on lectures and readings which start in the beginning, if ur late u wont get one. U will work for your grade, would take again :)

Professor Bakeman wants her students to succeed the material provided is not difficult. You have to follow directions precisely. IF the professor assigns readings, make sure you complete the readings that correspond to the syllabus date!! The syllabus gives you time to prepare for success you are always aware of every assignment in advance.

I found the class instructions to be clear and concise and as laid out in the syllabus. If you do the work and follow the instructions, then you're sure to pass. I took 5 classes this semester and never felt overwhelmed with homework for this class. Attendance is mandatory. Read the material or you won't pass the quizzes at the start of class.

Professor Bakeman is GREAT! If you are looking for a class to coast by for an easy A this is NOT the class to take because she will challenge you. I got a low score on a few assignments that dropped my final grade but I would take her again in a heartbeat.

TOUGH GRADER - but does provide extra help when asked. Truly wants to see people succeed but is a little rough around the edges. Get ready to do a lot of work, but it will be worth it.
