WONDERFUL TEACHER. Shows you how to succeed while giving a speech. I hated talking in front of class but by the end it was easy for me. She really wants you to learn from her experiences and it also helps a bunch when you have a great class as well

Professor Boyd is the sweetest professor ever! She is super easy as well. She truly makes you feel comfortable when you are speaking and does not allow anyone to disrespect you in her class. 2 mini speeches 3 big speeches and a small test. Attendance is like 100 pts. so it is important that you go. I would recommend her!

Prof Boyd is so sweet. She's a mother of 5 I believe and she loves her students. She isn't anal about attendance, only on your speech days. You get out early a LOT in this class. It's an easy A. All you need to do is talk and do speeches. No other work than making an outline. She is also willing to help and work things out with you.

She is amazing! Super helpful, pleasant,but assertive -doesn't put up with nonsense which I loved! I hated doing the speeches, but loved the class! Attendance is mandatory. Don't take her if you're a slacker

Professor Boyd is the Speech Professor to take for anyone who is dreading taking it. Before this class I did not like talking in front of a class but Professor Boyd made it not so bad. Take her I would recommend it.

One of the best teachers I have ever taken at FSCJ. She makes you feel very comfortable talking in front of people if you generally aren't. She also has ways of making the class come together and bond which makes it even easier to speak in front of them when you have to. I would recommend her to anyone who has to take speech.

Professor Boyd is one of the best professors in all of FSCJ. She's knowledgeable about what she teaches, she's hilarious, and she's full of energy. She cares a lot about seeing you succeed and gives you constructive feedback on your speeches. She's super nice and as long as you participate and do the work, getting the "A" is easy.

What can I say Professor Boyd is amazing ! She is always happy to see everyone and is eager about how their day went ! You can tell that she is passionate about communications , and understanding that communicating can be hard for some ! I definitely enjoyed her class and I would highly recommend her ! She establishes a comfortable feel for presenting, gives you great tips, and really wants to see you succeed. After taking her class I no longer get anxiety from presenting and I thoroughly enjoy it. I loved this class! I actually wanted to take the course again, or at least a class similar with the same professor. I have bad the chance to speak one on one with her and she is very inspirational and helpful. Her personality is warming and makes you feel comfortable. She is awesome, anybody who takes this class will love it as well.

I took Professor Boyd for my spring term, and I have to say even though it was an early class she was always there smiling and trying to wake us up and get us to participate. I would definitely recommend this awesome teacher! Show up and do what you need to do and it will be the easiest A you've ever gotten. She doesn't require the textbook either.

I was dreading speech but professor Boyd is awesome! She is energetic and so much fun! A good amount of assignments but as long as you take time to do them, you will do fine and they're pretty easy. She is not a tough grader on the speeches either and I actually enjoyed the speech topics. The final is straight forward as long as you take notes.

Professor Boyd is a funny relatable professor who understands and encourages each one of her students through the whole semester. She is very open and shares a lot about herself and her life. As long as you show up and do the assignments you will get a good grade. She is very reasonable and is very fair to all her students. Definitely 10/10!

Prof. Boyd is passionate and enthusiastic. She loves what she does and it shows. She is patient and very understanding. Attendance isn't mandatory, but missing 3 or fewer classes will get you 100 points. She gives you very clear explanations as to what is expected of you and grades accordingly. Easy A.

Overall great teacher, she kept class interesting. Assignments were given well in advance to give us plenty of time to complete, plus she understands things come up and she allows up to three missed classes before it affects your grade. I highly recommend her, specially of you're not great at speaking in front of people.

Great professor! I took both of her speech classes and absolutely loved her! You can only miss three classes/ be late three times before she starts deducting points. I never missed a day of her class because the final is early and when I finished I didn't have to come back to the last two days. So try not to skip so u can b done w/ the class early

I was really worried about taking a Speech class due to my anxiety but Professor Boyd made me feel really comfortable! She's super sweet and caring, but when it's time to get down to business she doesn't play games. She always explains things if you don't understand. This class was super easy and definitely helped for my future career.

I took an 8 weeks speech class, she pretty good. and is clear on what you need to do. There's a speech every week since it was eight weeks. if you show and do the work you'll end up with at least a B

Professor Boyd has been the best professor I have had in college by far. Don't worry if you are uncomfortable with the idea of speaking in front of everyone. She is warm and funny and makes you feel comfortable instantly. Homework every week, easy, short, right from the book. Must go to class to pass--in order to see and perform the speeches.

Show up and do the work and it will be an easy A. There was a textbook but I didn't end up using mine but it is optional. Look out for extra credit too! Use her feedback too because it helps when you give your speech.

I have nothing bad to say about professor Boyd! When signing up for public speaking I was nervous because I wasn't used to talking in front of people but i fell in love with this class!! Your class becomes like a little family and she makes public speaking so stress free. Theres around 4 speeches and some quizzes online. Effort is all you need!

Prof. Boyd is a good teacher and great speaker. she's energetic and her class was fun to go to. I noticed that I actually improved in my speech and communication skills. She has like 3 big speeches which aren't hard to put together or deliver. very light homework load.

Professor Boyd is by far the best teacher at FSCJ South Campus. If you have to take Speech and you're not really good at public speaking, take this class. She's really good at making everyone feel comfortable about giving speeches and it would be ashamed if you read this and didn't sign up for her class. #GiveHerARaise

Wow, This professor is amazing. She knows her material and she is passionate about her job. She gives good feedback, she responds e-mails promptly usually within an hour. She is just a perfect teacher. Talking in public is not my thing, I get super nervous but she made me feel so comfortable and I learned a lot. Take her. 100% recommended.

Shes real chilled. Youll take verbal and written quizzes. Shes easy to talk to. Very upbeat and enthusiastic about her work. Very caring. lectures arent heavy just pay attention. I failed the final and Got a B+. As long as you do the projects and outlines youll pass the class.

She replies to emails fast, gives great feedback, and WANTS you to succeed in class. Make sure to attend every class, attendence is a huge part of the grade. Good professor but wasn't my favorite. Syllabus was not detailed and had wrong dates. Prof Boyd is a very nice person and gives good feedback. Listen, take good notes, and do what she says and you should be fine.

I was not excited about taking a speech, I hate talking in front of big groups of people especially people that I do not know very well. She made this class very enjoyable, and definitely made it less nerve-racking talking in front of people. If you do an assignment wrong or have an emergency she is willing to work with you.

One of the best professors I've ever taken! I wasn't very excited about taking a speech class and usually get nervous talking in front of a large group of people. However, Professor Boyd made this class fun and laid back which made me really comfortable during my speeches. It's impossible to fail her class if you do your work and put in the effort.

Professor Boyd was an amazing professor. She was very personable and encouraging. She is a very generous grader but is reluctant to take late work. I would def take her again, this was a great experience that made me so much more comfortable talking in front of crowds. We only used the textbook for one 5 question test.

Mrs. Boyd is a great speech teacher. If you show up and participate, the class gets fun. You get to learn a lot about everyone, learn a whole bunch of random topics, and make friends. When you're comfortable with the class, speaking is easier. All you have to do is show up, do your speeches, and listen to her lectures!

She's a great professor. Super friendly, knows what she's talking about- and you pretty much get to connect with her as a person! She loves helping out, she's very respectful, and she's very wise. I mean, of course she would be- but about a lot of things even outside of her field of study. Highly recommend her!

Very nice and good grader. I didnt care much about the speech part but the business part was super helpful. I highly recommend taking if youre younger, I learned things that were helpful in getting my first job. Gives really good feedback for everything and is very supportive. Homework but no assignment takes more than 45 minutes. Easy A.

Prof. Boyd was great. She had 5 speeches, 5 homework assignments from an online book (easy), TED Talk analysis, and a paper exam (also easy if you take notes). All other periods are lectures about aspects of public speaking. Very good feedback on your speeches and really tries to get to know you. Truly cares about the progress of each student.

If you are a shy reserved person she cares about her students and will do her best to help you succeed. She takes late work. Homework and writing assignments super easy. Easy grader. But she takes of a lot of points if you miss more than 3 class from 75 to 40 points. Final is easy if you semi-pay attention in class. Would for sure take again.

Her class might be best suited in person (Speech class and all) but due to COVID19 some adjustments had to be made. The class was not difficult at all. If you do the work and stay on schedule, you will likely have an A or B in the course. Fall behind and the volume of work can be a little much to handle.

Professor Boyd was awesome. She gives clear instructions on what she wants, she gives helpful and respectful feedback on your assignments and she fully prepares you for giving speeches and interacting in the business world. There were a reasonable amount of assignments and her lectures were interesting and interactive.

Mrs. Boyd is cool. A few easy written assignments, a couple of individual presentations, a group presentation, and a final. Final was kind of tricky, but you will earn so many points before it that it will not matter. Very friendly and tries her best to build good relationships with her students. She answers emails fast, is accessible outside of class, and likes answering questions. The main part of her class are the speeches, the outlines, and the posters.

First off Professor Boyd is super nice and wants you to succeed. The class has some homework and online assignments that help a lot in case you get a bad grade on a speech. However, she is a very easy grader, and as long as you put in a bit of time to practice your speeches you will do great. I would recommend this speech class over any other one.

Made speech actually fun. I am shy and I received a 98%. She helps and answers emails quickly. Makes speeches on world topics that involves some research but nothing crazy. Shares personal stories and makes you feel so welcome. Would take it again in a heartbeat. Uses a textbook for homework but it is the easiest homework ever.

Grades very easy and clear with what she expects from you. As long as you actually try during your speeches you should never receive lower than an 80%. A few homework assignments but don't really affect your grade. One group speech.

She gives amazing lectures, is accessible outside of class, has easy homework, and teaches group theory. Participation matters and textbook was free online. 10/10 Professor! At first, I was hesitant about taking a speech class as I'm not fond of public speaking at all. However, Professor Boyd was one of those teachers that really wanted you to succeed both in class and outside. Had only around 6 speeches but she gives you weeks to prepare. Very few textbook-related homework which was only less than 10 questions each.

I took her speech class online and it was pretty easy. You have lots of discussion posts, 3 speeches that require an audience of five, and other little assignments. You do have to read the modules that are assigned because the tests (2) are quite hard. She gives comments on every assignment which is very nice. I always looked forward for them.

Great professor, she knows what it means to be an excellent public speaker. Would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn how to speak properly in front of an audience.

Professor Boyd is a perfect teacher to take for speech. She gives a couple of easy homework assignments that require the textbook, 3 discussions that are too easy, and 1 individual speech and 1 group speech. She gives lots of time for both speeches. You learn a lot from her and she provides lots of feedback. Definitely recommend!

Great class and professur, just speeches, some minor speeches that are easy 100, the big speeches aren't bad either. she is very caring and will teach you how to give the right kind of speech. Grading isn't that bad as long as you put in the effort. A little difficult and time consuming, but it was a great class.

Boyd is such a great + caring prof. She gives very clear feedback on your speeches and so many opportunities to receive help. I would 100% take her again for any class and would totally recommend. I'm not a speech person but I became more comfortable talking in front of people because of her class. She gives great feedback so you know what to work on for your next speech. She also corrects you while you're doing your speech like your tone and body movements so don't take it personally as she just wants you to do well on your speech :))

Professor Boyd was a great professor. She is so understanding and kind. The rubrics were clear on what she wanted us to do. Such a good way to get comfortable with public speaking. She is super accommodating to everyone and their situations and genuinely cares about her class. I'm disabled and have trouble getting things done on time, but she was very understanding and gave me full credit for late assignments every time. She is a very sweet teacher.

Very nice professor and gives a little amount of homework along with speech projects. She says you'll be much more comfortable with public speech by the end of the class. I thought she was wrong but she really isn't! Textbook is only required for homework.

This has been one of my favorite classes I've taken so far. Professor Boyd creates a safe space for everyone to deliver their speeches and helps you along the way. I recommend attending her office hours if you are especially nervous about speaking in front of others. She is more than willing to coach you and ensure your delivery is on point.

If you were to choose any speech class, a speech class with Professor Boyd is your best option. She is very passionate about being able to speak in front of people and she helps literally everyone along the way. You can be crippled with anxiety and she will make all of that go away. Truly a great professor who brings so much value to this course.
