I love Dr. Geiger's courses. I'm a history major and learn more in her classes than in the courses of my major. The way she blends art and culture with important historical moments is amazing. She's my role model and earns the respect of her students. She's always prepared & organized. She's very helpful and approachable. Assignments are very clear

I really like this class. I wish i wasn't graduating this semester so that I could take more of Dr. Geiger's classes. I've learned so much this semester I feel like the other classes that i've taken with other profs have been a waste of my money. Prof Geiger is such a great lecturer and has an engaging friendly personality. Very caring prof

I took this class for GE credit and didn't think that I would like it. Dr. Geiger opened my eyes to a new world. She makes history interesting and i'm now noticing art and building styles everywhere i go. I'll never see the world the same again. I can't wait to go to museums this summer and see some of the art that she taught us about.

The material was very interesting and Dr. Geiger was incredibly knowledgeable on every topic covered in the course. The downside of the course is that there is a decent amount of weekly homework that needs to be completed. I was not expecting the workload in a GE class. Does not post notes: you need to come to class or you will fail.

She's one of the best professors I've had at ESU. I loved her class because it gave me a whole new perspective on the art world. Her lectures are very engaging. However, you must come to class or there's no way you're passing. I considered her tests and quizzes to be challenging, especially for a Gen Ed. She also does not enter many grades.

Intro to Art History 101 was extremely challenging. Two exams with 90 questions each. Quizzes! Her lectures were very interesting! I'm not an art major but I loved learning about different art pieces. She is very intelligent. She can lecture for an hour straight from the top of her head! Go to class! take lots of notes! hard, but so worth it!

If you do choose to take this class to be ready for larger course work, unfair grading of assignments, and frustration. Prof. is very unfair when it comes to grading and never enters grades. Out of my 4 years in college classes, this summer 101 course was by far the most miserable experience I've ever had! Insane amount of courseload with the 3 weekly assignments & quizzes with in-depth questions that are ridiculously tough. Zero material posted to D2L. I took this course as a layup, ended up being a halfcourt shot. AVOID AT ALL COST

Had her for Intro to Art History for the Fall 2020 semester. My advice, stay away from her class. Unless you like unnecessarily long assignments from a textbook that does a bad job actually explaining the material, and a professor that grades very unfairly, you will not do well in her class at all.

Don't take it! She posts videos that are more than 1-2 hours long, expects you to watch those videos and come away with something. There was no textbook used, so all the information she tests on is information she deems to be "valuable" and there is no way to actually learn. I'm an A student who values work ethic, but this class was taught poorly!

Taking this as a gen-ed requirement, as others explained, she requires you to write down EVERYTHING she says in a 1hr 15 min lecture. If you miss anything said, you are not going to do well on your tests, since the PowerPoints she provides only include pictures. I take more notes in this class than I do in the classes for my actual major...

It is impressive how disorganized Professor Geiger can be. Assignments tend to appear out of nowhere, very obviously conducted with short notice. While I appreciate her passion and expression of her credentials, the very last thing that is necessary to hear are endless sermons on how we must be "fighting" for the arts. It bears no relevance.

Dr. Geiger is very intelligent. I've learned a lot about the foundations of art history from her, but I would not recommend taking her classes to fulfill a gen ed requirement. No class with no pre-req should require students to be "good writers" to pass. Writing skills and history knowledge aren't the same. The teacher struggles with organizing assignments and understanding students' challenges. Lectures are long and informative, but study guides are poor, and she speaks too fast (80 wpm), leaving no time for notes. 👎
