When I first entered her class I was kind of scared because she looked very serious and strict. I already knew that I was going to drop her class. To my surprise she's very helpful, nice, and midterms are worth only 5% of your grade. I hate speaking in front of everyone but eventually you get used to it and pass her class with an "A" :) Wonderful!

She's an excellent Professor, assignments may seem difficult but you have to open yourself to what she says. Don't be afraid of public speaking because from her point of view it's like speaking to a regular group of people, her requirements are not difficult and she is a great person to inspire you to do your best.

The first day of class she showed us a prezi presentation on how to fail her class. Very intimidating first impression, but makes you respect her and the way she works. If you want an A you got to be very responsible. She also gives option of extra credit assignments to help you out. Overall an incredible teacher, funny and kind hearted.

Professor G is one of the greatest professors I've ever had, and I made sure she knew that. I learned so much from every lecture she taught and I still have the notes from LAST Fall Semester. She makes it clear that if you need her guidence she will always be there. Don't take advantage that and trust me you will not regret it.

Just WOW. There are only a few professors that will truly touch you in your college career, Melissa Grossman will be one of them if you take her. The class is not the easiest (I've heard of other speech classes at Dade that are easier) HOWEVER you will learn, you will be inspired, and if you try you will pass.

Professor Grossman is one of the good one's. She wants you to succeed and is willing to help you, but you must put forth the effort. It was a joy being apart of her class this past semester.

This course was my favorite! Prof. Grossman is one of the best speech professors and her course will make you grow. The class is a bit tough but nothing that isn't doable (but do not take it if you are looking for a mediocre course.) I left this class a better speaker and a interviewee for the workforce. This prof is really amazing, she gives very good reviews on your work and actually knows what shes doing. At times, she's very strict about work and handing it in on time but its for your own good. If you want a career which involves speaking out loud (basically any career) then take her because your confidence (lol) with public speaking will go up

Prof G is great, one of the best in MDC, the course isn't easy, you won't pass just by showing up, you have to work for it just like in real life. She is extremely helpful, always helped with ideas for speeches and reviewed the drafts. The class definitely helps to boost confidence and a useful skill to learn for the future. Mrs. Grossman is a great teacher. Before taking this class I was a person who did not feel comfortable speaking in public. However, after taking her class I learned how to properly deliver a speech and feel very comfortable when it comes to speaking in public. She is a great teacher and I truly recommend her. Melissa Grossman was super nice. She set a good example. We got to use computers a lot. I liked the coursework and presentations quite a bit.

Professor G seems very strict in the beginning but she will eventually show her good side. I took the 6 week course , it was tough in a way . But if you do everything she asks ,there's no way you'd fail. Also, if you're going to be absent make sure u have a good excuse for make up work. Other than that she likes to prepare her students.

One of the best professors I've come across in Miami Dade College! Professor Grossman goes beyond the call of duty, knows her material, is creative, and expects only but the best from her students. Great professor

She was such an amazing professor. Her lectures, albeit long, always help. They helped delve into the deeper meaning behind concepts in speech. In addition, her Confidence Crusades are the bomb. For about one minute, you talk about the topic given. They're so fun and allow you to vent at times. All in all, I wish I could take this class again.

Professor Grossman is one of the best teacher I've ever had. She is VERY clear on what she wants. Do not miss class. Three speeches, 4 quizzes, two papers, and 1 project. Everything is easy as long as you follow the instructions; that's the key of this class. She gives a lot of extra credit; there is no way to fail her class. TAKE HER !!!

Grossman was difficult in her grading and if you plan on slacking off you won't pass. However, she gives really good feedback and actually helps you improve your public speaking skills unlike many of the other speech teachers. Follow guidelines specifically and check blackboard because sometimes she doesn't mention everything that that is due.

Professor G. is a wonderful professor. If I had the chance to take her again, I would. She is always available to help you if you ever have a question or need extra help. She definitely works with you so you can do your best. If you do your homework and just take notes in class you will do just fine. But please ask questions if you ever feel stuck.

She is a very fair professor. Communication is everything! (It's a speech class!!) Take extremely detailed notes when she lectures. They will be used throughout the semester.

She is always there to help you with anything you may be struggling with, but beware of deadlines... she really strict with them. But it's really the only "problem". I fear public speaking and I tend to shake a lot and get extremely nervous to the point my jaw starts to shake. This class will really help you prepare better for presentations and speeches and learn self-confidence but my fear never left. You have to work for your grade and take advantage of the extra credit. This teacher does help when it comes to grading and if you do turn something in but it does not meet her criteria shell just ask you to redo it in the right way for the credit. So just turn anything in and youll be able to at least see if you can get some credit for it. Very understanding and flexible. Always answers emails in a timely matter

She's a very nice professor. I took her online and she provides you with various tools for assignments. She does give a lot of assignments, 13 short videos & peer reviews. Also,2-3 longer video speeches and 3 essays & a few other assignments. She is answers her email fairly quickly. If you have the time, take her class!

A fun professor, but isn't a puss over. If you take her class seriously and somewhat want to improve you speech giving skills she is probably the best professor for you. We never used the book; however, failing to understand assignments could be bad for you. She is personally one of my favorite professors, but don't take her class too lightly.

Professor Grossman is a truly excellent speaker and I don't think there could have possibly been a better person to conduct this class. I learned a great deal from her and only wish I could attend another class of hers in the future.

If you give this class some time every day, read, do research, start working on your speeches as soon as the information is available, and follow the guidelines, which there are plenty and they are explicit, you will do well. I enjoyed this class and discovered a lot of things I otherwise would have never known about. We are all here to learn.

Prof Grossman is great. I had quite some trouble with her class because I'm a big procrastinator and with her class that is the last thing you want to be. If you're ALWAYS on top of the syllabus and turn in your assignments on a timely manner, you should be completely fine. She is also very knowledgeable and will help you with everything if you ask

Took Professor Grossman's online speech class and I am thankful. She encourages you to participate and not to quit. Speech is not my best skill set but she will offer sound advice patiently to help you throughout the entire class. I will encourage anyone who needs this class to take her. You won't be disappointed. Professor Grossman is the best teacher that ive had at MDC so far. Shes a very caring person and is passionate about her teachings, but if youre looking for an easy class then her classes probably arent for you. Although the work required for her class isnt necessarily difficult, it is a lot and theres a fair amount of research and reading.

I wasn't excited for this class at at all, but I learned a lot from her. The class is an easy A. She makes her assignments very clear. The syllabus is super detailed. She does give busy work online but none of them take more than 30 minutes. There are only like 3 speeches. No need to buy anything, its all through Blackboard. A true queen, love her.

I found the class to be an easy A as long as you dont leave things for last min. The bad reviews are from those who slacked off and expected an A.

Don't believe the negative comments. This class is beyond easy. At one point, when I took it in the Summer 2018 term, I had a 105% in the class or higher. She provides extra credit. Assignments are easy. Professor is understanding. She grades well. You'll learn quite a bit during the class. I would definitely recommend her for an easy A. Good luck!

Really great professor even with taking an online class the way she communicates is in a caring way. She's always ready to help and unlike half of the professors as Dade she responds to her student emails in a prompt manner. I highly recommend taking this class for SPC1017. Professor Grossmans classes are always interesting and Ive learned so much. I took her for a 6 week course, so it was a lot of work in one setting. But if you engage yourself, shes willing to help you through.

This isn't an easy class. There is a lot of work, and a lot of requirements to pass the class and Professor Grossman definitely makes you work for it. She offers a bunch of extra credit, responds to your emails quickly, and grades your work faster than any professor I've had this semester. You can tell she cares about her job and her students.

The best Speech professor at MDC in my opinion. She's not an easy "A", You're gonna work for that grade you want but you'll learn so much while doing so. She's extremely empathic and understanding, she'll allow extensions if necessary. Very accessible outside the classroom, Not a tough grader AT ALL, about two short papers and lots of speeches.

She is a great professor. There is a lot of reading and homework but if you complete them you will receive a good grade. The projects are easy and in a group. Service-learning(community service hours) is needed but is a low number. I would take her again, she is very kind and helps you with what she can.

Her grading scale is very spread so it forces you to stay engaged and complete all assignments. Miss G doesn't teach from a book. She made a dope class that has lots of real world content. This class is not for the lazzzzyyy among us! You have to work for your grade but she was really helpful and wicked sense of humor. I'm planning to take her other courses too!

This is not a free "A". Yeah she assigns quite a bit of work but that's because she cares and wants you to learn. I failed but it's my own fault for poor time management. The course is very rewarding, On paper I failed but because of her assignments and me taking the course I learned more from her than any other professor at MDC, In a speech class.

It's a lot sometimes if you have a job and have more than two classes. There is a lot of work, just pay attention to lectures, and it'll be easy. Do not procrastinate; she gives you a week to complete your assignments at most and offers a lot of extra credit; take advantage of those. I did my classes at MDC because of the rona, but I go to FSU. Professor Grossman teaches the most university-level course I've taken at MDC. She made the class more interesting than the book and was super available! I wish all my professors were as serious about teaching. If you're planning to transfer to a real school, she's a MUST take.

I was excited when she said we were doing volunteering for a grade! I already volunteer at the animal shelter monthly and I love that she tries to get everyone interested about helping the community we all live in. I talked to her at virtual office hours every week. She's patient and good at explaining things when you're confused. LOVE PROF G!!!!!

If you don't take this class seriously you will fail. The professor is very knowledgeable and helped my group fix our project to earn an A. She had a very hands on approach to teaching. It's just not reading and quizzes.

The book is on real cases and Professor Grossman sometimes adds extra related material about the justice issue. The biggest part of your grade is a PR campaign for a local nonprofit you volunteer with. It was a little confusing at first but she gave me really detailed feedback and I met with her during office hours to get more information.

This is not one of those canned online classes where you can not really read and then look up the questions online. This professor doesn't use the textbook or any of the tests that come with it so you actually have to work. If you're used to the easy online classes and aren't ready to earn your grade then this isn't for you.

This woman made me work for my grade like nothing I ever worked for in my life but now I don't feel scared to give speeches. This is the proudest B I ever earned. She's really helpful, but if she sees you not taking it seriously she will act like your mama in a snap!

If you're lazy or busy, DON'T TAKE PROFESSOR GROSSMAN! But, if you don't mind putting in a few extra hours every week and seriously care about learning the material, she's wonderful. Since I work 50+ hrs outside of school, she just had too many assignments for me. She's knowledgeable, thorough, passionate, and assigns a lot, lot of work.

I worked really hard for this grade. Just follow her directions and don't miss work. She's got a sharp sense of humor that I liked a lot.

Her speech class is easy just follow directions. Really detailed feedback and has virtual office hours to help.

This class is not an easy one, but if you're serious about media I highly suggest you to take this class with this professor. Very fast with emails, actually cares about her students, gives a bunch of extra credit opportunities, and makes you work for your grade. Not a hard class especially because you work at your own pace. Just do the work, visit her office hours about your grades. Very good with communication and email.

Miss Grossman makes you work hard for that grade but she's the only teacher who gave me real feedback during "remote learning" My other teachers just give me grades and when I email to ask her about improving my grades she gave me good advices.

Professor Grossman was great. She gave good fedback, the assignments were clear and specific, and her class was very flexible. There is a lot of assignments to do each week. However, the case studies can sometimes be fun to do. Make sure that you are on top of your PR Campaign Prioject. Professor Grossman also responds fairly quickly to her emails.

I took her online class so we didn't meet. Love that she cancelled the book cause I needed that money! Easy class. Just follow the directions and turn stuff in on time. Quick with emails.

I took the course with my friend but she combines all the classes together so even though we weren't in the same section we were able to work together on the group project. There's tons of extra credit related to justice. I got extra credit for signing justice petitions. She cares about the world and will teach you a lot about life.

I took Prof G for her other classes so when she offered me the social media cat internship I was very excited! I'm taking it now and so far very fulfilling. She meets with me every week and has work due weekly. Clear directions, detailed feedback, patient, flexible. I'm also helping cats so that's the best part! Easy A.

Professor Grossman is an excellent professor whose goal is to help you learn and succeed. She has high expectations but is willing, and available to help you during office hours. There is a lot of reading (very interesting and relevant) and she demands a higher level of academic competence than most MDC professors but offsets it with x-credit ops.

I liked learning about public relations through cases about things like chemicals spills and animal rights. Very unique and interesting class. Yes she makes you work but it pays off.

Prof. G is an amazing professor. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable; she takes her time to ensure you understand what the message is. I absolutely loved her feedback; she doesnt simply identify the errors, she informs how to fix them. This is how we learn via online classes. Shes highly empathetic and passionate about everything she does.

easy homework ,just do good on the projects and you pass

Professor Grossman sent us a video before school even started to tell us what to expect and not to get the book! She also actually answers your emails and gives real feedback telling you how to improve. Bonus feature! I learned way more about issues in the world than I ever knew existed. Very inspirational!

I'm taking her class now and so far it's easy. There's a lot of work but its quick. My group for the project is actually cool people so I think we're going to do good.

Really hard class, really interesting content

All I can say is that this is one AMAZING professor I love her. She really cares about her students. She takes the time to really explain to you anything youre not understanding. Shes flexible and a bit of a tough grader but she gives you multiple opportunities to get a good grade in her class. I highly recommend!!!!! Her class is fun easy A

Get ready to work! This is not an online class that you can log in and space out. Every class she has us doing some activity. She helps a lot if you ask and try your best.

Epic! I had no idea so many problems are in the world. She also talks solutions so its not depressing but inspiring. Also learned about speaking. This prof is spicy and fun!

This is a great class to take. Prof. Grossman has a very well structured syllabus, lots of homework but if you keep up with the lectures and the assignments the class will be a breeze to you. The midterm and final are all related to either assignments or topics that were explain during lecture and she also offers lots of extra credit options.

The class was on zoom and you have to participate because there's graded work every class. Some of the classes are really interesting like Prince Andrew video about the sex scandal and zephyrhills water. She makes you do a lot of speeches but I'm more confident speaking now.

Zoom classes but lots of activities so she's not just talking the whole time. It was interesting and I got to know some people in the class.

We had a lot of little speeches. They seemed stupid in the beginning but really helped by the end of the class. Hard work but worth it if you're going to a professional job.
