She is very willing to help out with whatever you need. Every day she tells everyone to come by and get help. I hated her tests however and she grades strict on them but shows you how to correct every problem you get wrong. Not too bad of a teacher

AMAZING TEACHER!!! She makes sure everything is very clear, and she honestly cares about her students. Her tests only contain material she's gone over in class and she is there when her students have questions. Notes are readable and easy to understand. The only downfall is that grades are entirely based from tests.I HIGHLY recommend her!

Amazing, amazing prof! Grade is in 3rds, hmwk, chapter tests and final. She does collect homework. She grades fairly, taking off partial, not all points for wrong answers. Extremely organized. She's funny, great stories and serious about her students' success. Her classes fill up fast. Best math teacher I've ever had, prepares you for next classes.

AWESOME!! Melissa is here for her student's success. She makes you work hard, but you will be ready for the next class. Make sure you read her syllabus, because she will stick to it. I have learned how to study for math. She is the first prof that I have had that truely cares about our individual success. Melissa is WONDERFUL!!!

I hate math and have always considered myself terrible at it, but Mrs. Holm is crystal clear when it comes to explaining the lesson. Very good teacher, always has notes available for you to print, gives great feedback on homework and tests. I would definitely recommend her!

Apparently no one has rated her for REAL math classes...mat.231 and mat.220. :-( she can be clear at times butt you have to be a teacher's pet in order to really get a good grade. if she doesn't like you, you better change teachers!!!............Merry Christmas!!!

I chose this teacher based on the reviews that I have read on this site, I did not want an easy teacher, but a GOOD teacher because I actually wanted to learn. She was the best math teacher that I have ever had. I really suck at math, but the way how she teaches made things easy to understand for me.

great teacher

I had this prof for Algebra and Calculus. Made me work really hard, but I learned soooooo much! She will ask alot from you, but it will pay off. Ask questions and do your HW and you will do fine. I highly recommend this prof!!!

Definately my favorite teacher so far. She is very helpful and strongly promotes coming to see her for help during her office hours. I have honestly never done this well in a math class before. It isn't the easiest math I've done but I'm still doing better than I have. I highly reccomend her for any classes she teaches.

Great professor, really challenges students to understand the information. She is dedicated to the art, she came in numerous times barely able to talk but really wanted us to get the information. Class was not easy, but it could have been more difficult if she wasn't teaching. Take this teacher, you will not regret it!

Class was fairly easy, but I think it's because she teaches with so much clarity, and she really cares for her students to understand the concepts. Encouraged students to see her for help during office hours. Best math class so far. I didn't think calculus could get so easy and understandable.

Amazing teacher! She explains things crystal clear. She gives an online quiz about once a week and it takes anywhere from 1/2 to 1 hour to do the quiz. Homework is optional. If you complete a homework assignment then she adds .5% to your test grade for each assignment you complete. Tests are very reasonable. I highly recommend Melissa.

Melissa, is an awesome instructor I took her for 092 & 120. She does talk fast so it makes you seem like your getting a "Head" full of information. She does hand outs which I'd encourage anyone enrolling in her class to print them out and be ready to learn. She knows her Math hopefully when my kids are ready she'll still be teaching.

I had this instructor once as a sub and I LOVED her!! MAth is definitely my worse subject and I've always struggled so hard and sh just made it so easy to understand. I wish I could take her class next semester :/

Mrs Holm is the best professor for math! I loved the way she taught, she was fun and kept class interesting. She will always go back and reexplain something if you do not understand it! She genuinely cares about her students, and you can tell!! I would highly recommend her to everyone!

Calc. is not an easy class. But she taught it very well, she makes up little songs so you can remember equations (they work!)..You don't get penalized if you don't do your homework - but you get extra credit on the tests for whatever homework you complete. She gives partial credit on tests if you mess up halfway through an equation. I got a B!

AMAZING! This is the 2nd time taking this class and she made me understand it sooo well! I ended up with a C but that's cause I got WAY too lazy towards the end. She actually WANTS you to understand the concepts. The material is difficult but she's extremely helpful...and funny :). TAKE HER CLASS!

Melissa was great! I worked hard and I learned a ton. The tests were tough, but very fair. The online work helped clarify some topics, but her lectures are what saved me. Melissa loves what she does and it is hard not to get drawn into her quirky passion for math.

After a horrific MAT151 experience, Melissa truly made me enjoy learning the math concepts of MAT212. Take this professor for as many math classes as you can, you won't regret it.

Mrs. Holm is THE BEST math teacher I have ever had! She goes out of her way to make sure all of her students have the opportunity to succeed. Her lectures are awesome,and believe it or not I laughed in almost every class(yes in a math class). I highly recommend her to anyone, but sign up early, because her classes fill up fast!!

Class is going to be hard no matter what but she makes it as easy as possible for her students to understand. Each homework assignment is an extra .5% added to your test grade and she replaces your lowest test score with your final if you miss 2 days or less. Best teacher your going to find. Just have to drive to red mountain campus

Its a tough class, but she makes it pleasant, I could've done better if I paid more attention, she offers tons of extra credit, but Calculus isn't easy. You won't find a better calc teacher!

Lots of homework both online and in the textbook. This is not an easy class but Melissa truly is an amazing teacher. Explains the material clearly and makes it relative to the real world. Mrs. Holm is the best math teacher I've had! Calculus isn't the most exciting subject in the world, but she taught it in a way that it wasn't as painful as people may think. As long as you come to every class & do the assignments, the exams will be a breeze. I definitely recommend her! :)

I loved this class! It is the best math class I have ever taken. She is an amazing teacher. She prints off notes that you fill out and the notes and homework look just like the test. If you show up, do the work, and try, you will get an A. She does everything she can to help you.

Professor Holm is by far one of the best math teachers I have ever had. She does give a lot of homework (some bookwork and some through the online ALEKS program) but it is so helpful when it comes to practicing and studying. Even offers open office hours for extra tutoring. If you need upper level maths, this is a teacher to go to.

She is a fantastic professor! She grades fairly and even gives extra credit. Her stories are hilarious and she is always finding short cuts to help you solve problems quicker (she even relates it to real life!) Encourages you to ask for help if needed and gladly gives it! Do your homework and the online homework (which isn't bad) and you'll be set!

Melissa was great! I signed up for her again this spring for MAT150. Cares about her students & wants them to succeed. I didn't go to office hours too often, but when I did it was helpful. Tests aren't easy, but are similar to the Hw. Keeping up on ALEKS is a must and pay attention to the "tickets" They helped me on tests. Her jokes are lame!

Holm is the best professor you'll find for any math classes she teaches (120, 150, etc) She clearly states expectations for tests & HW. Makes herself available to students and genuinely cares about their individual success. She sat with me after class to answer questions and takes time to explain concepts to anyone! The best math teacher I ever had honestly. She gives a fair amount of homework and the textbook isn't mandatory unless you want to practice on your own and do the extra credit problems. Her notes are flawless (test question come straight from notes and homework,just different numbers.) A lot of extra credit!!

I signed up late for classes last semester and had to sign up for whatever class I could get into. Lucky for me that worked out. I'm taking her class this semester even though it's a 30 min drive. Take her class!!

There isn't a Math teacher better than Prof. Holms. I go to ASU and took her at MCC because I heard nothing but great things. She made Calc easy to understand, and actually remember it. Math never came easy to me, but she made it happen. She's very understanding and will do anything for your success. Highly recommend her, also she's hilarious

By far one of my favorite teachers, and is the best math teacher I have ever taken. Ms Holm knows what she is teaching and is willing to help as best she can. I met with her many times outside of class to study for tests and for help on homework. FYI I'm not very good at math, and I passed with an A, she is a really good teacher.

Melissa's goal was to make sure students were comfortable with the subject taught in class. She took time with each section and even pushed back test days so we had more lecture time. Gave helpful work, not busy work. Every assignment served a purpose, and most of the review assignments were extra credit. She gives a lot of that!

Really cares about her students' success. Explains trigonometry extremely well, much better than textbook explanations. I am not "math minded" at all and her teaching methods really helped. I find math classes themselves to be difficult, as a professor I'd say she assigned a standard amount of homework and gave plenty of extra credit opportunity.

A lot of homework, and if you don't do it you won't pass. It's a lot of information crammed in a short time. Super nice teacher, explains the material pretty well. Very accessible outside of class.

Online homework is pretty annoying and tedious; it once took me an entire weekend to do about 7 topics, but she's always available by email. Offline homework was usually a breeze in comparison. 10/10 would take again.

Love Melissa!! She clearly presents the material and cares about her students. Love her sense of humor, but she also holds you accountable. I wish she had office hours earlier in the day, she teaches a very full schedule, but she always answers my emails. It is not an easy class, but I know that I will be ready for Calculus.

Pay attention, ask questions if you have them. Mrs. M breaks down the nonsense of Trig in an easy way to understand.

Sexy and cool

I took precalc two times before this trying to get the credit so I decided to take trig instead. I have always struggled with math. But she had office hours before class and would stay after to help. In class she would tell super funny stories, but we never didnt finish the lesson. Test are easy if you know what you are doing. Great professor.

Melissa is an amazing professor. She will help you in any way she can if you need it, but more importantly she will move mountains for her students to succeed in her class and just in life period. I struggled with math my whole life and her packets, and ideas make math truly an easier thing. 2 HW weekly (1 online), 4 Test, 1 Final. NO TEXTBOOK!

One of the best teachers I have ever had. She goes through everything very thoroughly and has no problem taking a step back if a student asks for help. She always went out of her way for her students to ensure their success. If you want a good teacher who will actually teach you and help you, I highly recommend.

THE BEST!!!

I've always hated math, but Mrs. Holm's class was the first class I had to go to four days a week, and I walked to college (25 min walk) at 7:20 in the morning everyday, excited for class. Her teaching style is very easy to understand, and you're always welcome at office hours where she helps you one on one. I wish she could teach all my classes.

Professor Holm was the best teacher I have ever had in my entire life. I havent always been the best at math, so going into the class made me extremely anxious. Yet, Melissa is the most caring person in the world and really knows to the teach math. She is always there to give her students the help they need. I wish she could teach all my classes:)

You learn to love Melissa more as the semester goes on. She really moves mountains for her students to succeed. Weekly homework and weekly projects (meaning a sheet of paper with problems on it) 4 tests and one final. Want to do well on the tests? Do the weekly projects and reviews over and over again. I suck at math and I got a B.

Melissa is amazing. If there are such things as mom jokes, she wrote the book. She is hilarious and super caring. She goes above and beyond to help her students. She is a very critical grader but also gives partial credit so as long as you try you will get some credit. Show up and try and youll pass. Wish she taught the rest of my math classes.

Don't hesitate to choose her class. If you think you are not good at math, don't worry about it. Professor Holm cares about every student and help you to succeed. No one dropped her class.

I was in two of her classes in a row. If I had any questions she would answer them right away. She always goes above and beyond for her students to really help them understand and pass the class. She would explain things in a way for everyone to understand. I recommend her class by 100%. Just make sure to show up and do the homework.

She is a fantastic math professor. The difficulty is just right and she knows how to bring humor into the classroom. I have never received an A in a math course before until I took her class. I definitely recommend taking her for MAT182 or any math-related courses. She believes in fairness and wants you to succeed. Take her class!

I cannot say enough good things about Professor Holms. She is amazing. I have always struggled but got A+. She cares so much about you especially if you take time to ask questions and meet with her outside of class. If you do online and textbook homework, take all notes in class, and go to her for outside help, you'll pass no doubt. Best teacher.

Melissa will challenge you, but she seems to try to be fair. If you do everything she asks you to do - both the mandatory and the optional - you will be ready for the exams. Attend office hours and ask questions.

One of the most fair professors I've had. Tests and exams reflect exactly what is taught in class. The class is very challenging, however, she makes it easier to understand and is always available to answer your questions. Assigns a LOT of homework, but the homework prepares you for the tests. If you work for it, you'll definitely pass.

Melissa provides exactly what we need to LEARN the material! There are online MOER assignments, but MOER is FREE!! Then there are Weekly Written assignments that go along with what is taught in the video notes and Live Class. I forgot to say that I took this class as "Live Online". The only negative I experienced is losing 10% per day on late HW

I loved Professor Holm! She is an absolute sweetheart and really does everything she can to help you pass. She knows how to instruct well, and has office hours often. However, I felt as though the work load was far too heavy for 3 credits. Also, tests werent terrible, but shes a tough grader on homework. Im terrible at math but still passed.

She is very clear with her notes. Remember to make the notes before class, and the class will be very easy. I definitely would take another class with her!

Professor Holm was probably the best math teacher I have had. I wasn't very good at Calculus when I was in high school, but she made the class understandable and easy to manage. She offers so many resources and help to every student! Overall, a great teacher:)
