she's always tries her best to help her students out in every possible way, ask her questions and help bc she explains things thoroughly and really breaks down the material so you can understand. everything she goes over and says in lab lecs are on the lab practicals. overall great lab professor
Great instructor! Would definitely recommend. She explains more than the lecture professors. She makes things understandable and more clear.
This professor is great and really cares about her students. This class is HARD and I mean HARD & if you don't study and put in work you will not pass. After she draws on the board go home & watch videos on the material, it will help! It's clear that she cares but she actually wants her students to learn the material so she won't let you off easy.
Anatomy and physiology is HARD. Dont take this class lightly. She knows her material, ask her questions, go to office hours, and take lab seriously. Study everyday. Make this class a priority.
This class requires effort and time, but those that study should be able to receive a passing grade. Grades are most reliant on exams, but her questions are based off of her lectures and powerpoints, so theres no need to read the content-heavy textbook. Challenging topics are broken down so students can understand them more easily. Great prof!
We were given 3 exams and they were not easy but if you show up to lecture and take notes, you will pass. Also, try studying every day. She is a very nice teacher, go talk to her outside of class if you need help. She breaks everything down very well. One of the best science teachers. Love how she explains everything, it really sticks.
I took her fall 2020. It was all online she had a well organized schedule. She posted videos and slides. Also worksheets that weren't graded but meant to be for you to learn. There was 2 midterms and 1 final. As well as group projects each week that were easy points. I would take the A&P sequence with her over Dr. Sumida if you can.
I went from rarely studying in highschool to studying 2+ hours every day and I still did ehh on my tests. If you don't study, you will not pass. there's 2 midterms and 1 final(multiple choice, writing, and drawing). She lectures the whole time and there's no study guide. You have to study EVERYTHING. She's very good at lecturing
This class was very difficult because of the amount of information taught in lectures but the professor was very nice and helpful when asked to explain the concepts not understood in lecture. Do recommend attending office hours to better understand the information taught. Highly recommend Professor Iyengar.
This class is the hardest you'll take and she does the best she can to make it simple and relatable. She does not want to see you fail even if it might seem like it at times. She is very forgiving and helps so many students. The class is hard, not her. Studying throughout semester not before exam.
This class requires an immense amount of time of studying and repeating concepts to truly understand them. You will not pass this class simply by reviewing material once, so dont be that one person who says oh I hope it will just come to me during the test at that point you should be hoping that theyll offer it in the summer lol. Awesome prof!
Professor Iyengar is a great professor, the resources are there such as office hours. You really need to review the concept over and over in order to understand them. She's a great professor and is funny! I most likely will be taking this course again but I am glad that she will be teaching it. Anatomy is complex and hard.
HORRIBLE! NOT SURE WHY SHE HAS A 4.6/5 ! HER TESTS ARE HORRIBLE AND IS NOT WILLING TO HELP! I HAVE NEVER DONE SO BAD IN AN CLASS AND THIS IS THE FIRST CLASS I HAVE NOT PASSED!!!!!!HER EXAM SCORES ARE BEYOND AMAZING! THE FINAL AVERAGE WAS A 34% SHE IS NOT WILLING TO HELP! PLEASE DO NOT REPEAT THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!!! DO NOT TAKE HER AT CSUSB
She lectures the whole hour and 15 mins, attendance is not mandatory, but if you don't go to lecture you are just making it harder on yourself. I recommend attending an SI session(very helpful). YOU MUST STUDY CONSISTENTLY! SHE WILL NOT LEAVE OUT ANY MATERIAL! 2midterms 1final(lecture) 1midterm 1final(lab) BE READY TO WORK!! 1lecture&1lab hw a week
Anatomy is nothing easy. She does her job well and does what she can to help us out. She even simplifies material as much as she can sometimes. This class isnt easy AT ALL. You have to study 8+ hours a WEEK. I don't understand the criticism on her teaching if she does her best. The material is just hard.
Professor Iyengar is a great professor, her lectures are straightforward. This course is very lecture heavy, if you don't attend lectures or put in the effort for this course, you won't do well. I recommend studying with a group of people and attending the SI sessions.
I would recommend to study everything that she puts on the slides for exams even if she says it's unimportant during lecture. Prof is nice and does try to help, but sometimes her lectures are confusing bc she tends to overcomplicate things. You HAVE to study for this class. If you don't study her exams will kick your butt.
Class is hard. You have to put time in. Attendance isnt taken but missing class can hurt.
if you don't study at least 1-2 hours a day for this class, you will not pass. it has nothing to do with the professor, the class itself is just insanely difficult. iyengar can have some pretty sarcastic jokes which can be irritating, but she really is funny for the most part. she really cares about your success and will always help.
Anatomy and Physiology in general is probably one of the hardest college classes because it contains alot of dense information. Professor Iyengar is a great lecturer. What helped me get a high A in this class was STUDYING before the lectures and STUDYING after. I then took a week before the exam to review everything.
Professor Iyengar is an amazing professor. She cares about students and their success in her courses. The reason people don't like her is because the class is REALLY difficult. A&P has a lot of material, however her slides really do help and cover everything. If you want to be successful in this class you need to study every day for 2 hours.(min)
She gives good lectures and tells you what to study for the most part but it is a hard class. Lots of material and she doesnt get through some of it because there is so much.
Excellent professor who does her best to break down difficult and complex concepts of anatomy and physiology. Also she is strict with grading and making sure you do assignments and study, which pushes you to actually learning material along with giving you tips to do so.
Will not get through entire lectures and will leave the rest to you. No time to ask questions in regards to lectures. Don't bother in taking a notes because she doesn't give you anytime to write. This fast paced class is a lot and she knows it. She should take the time to shorten concepts and reach out for student feedback after student lectures.
The teacher herself isn't a bad teacher, she wants to see her students succeed but the class is very very difficult. She goes really quick, would not recommend doing notes in class. Study them before and after to prepare for the exams. Has a heavy workload
Iyengar is such a good professor compared to others. Anatomy is definitely a hard class no matter where you take it. You need to attend all the lectures, either online or in person or else you'll be completely lost. She also gives a lot of supplemental help and a ton of office hours, so she gives all the help you'll need.
One of my favorite professors. The subject itself is tough, but she makes it fun & I like the way she does lectures. Attendance is definitely mandatory. She uploads supplementary videos for us for exams which are really helpful. HW only once a week. Exams are pretty hard, but if you study it shouldn't be bad. Always had office hours, overall, great
Biology is hard but she makes sure to tell us what we need to know. I recommend paying attention during her lectures and do the homework she gives out every week. The class requires a lot of studying but that's not the professor's fault. She is a really good lecturer and is accessible. She also makes supplemental videos for us.
Bio2230 is a fast-paced lecture class, tests are difficult so make sure you are paying attention and studying. Biology is not an easy course, Iyengar tries her best to make it easier but it is still difficult. She does give extra credit opportunities but it's 3 points max. I recommend attending class in person rather than zoom it helps a lot.
She is a great professor. She wants the best for her students. Her supplemental videos are super helpful for studying for exams. Definitely recommend studying weeks in advance for her lecture exams.
This class is not difficult as long as you keep up with the material and study in advance for her lecture exams. I recommend studying at least 1 week before! Her supplemental videos definitely helped and doing concept maps helped too. I definitely like the way she lectures and she uses iClicker during class as well, just a heads up!
Professor Iyengar is a great teacher. You can tell that she cares a lot because she definitely tries to make the class as easy. She offers office hours, supplemental videos, and in class questions. I thought the tests were somewhat difficult but everything is based off her lectures. Her lectures are loaded so make some time to study, dont wait.
Obviously cares deeply about the material and the success of students. She is available during office hours where she will explain anything to you in-depth. This class is built not only for your success but for you to actually understand the material. Don't expect to not have to study, you are in college. Overall amazing and helped me learn so much
She is an extremely difficult professor and is very lecture heavy. Participation is mandatory and if you are not in class you miss a whole chunk of it. She went through the whole slides without really explaining anything of it and expected for you to know the material. Homework was extremely hard too. Would not take her again. EVER!
Professor Iyengar is a solid teacher, the class just seems more difficult than it needs to be. Everything on the tests is worded differently than it is on the lecture slides, there are no study guides, and it is a lot of work in general. Homework is pretty hard but you at least get multiple chances at it. She is a good teacher, but class is hard.
Professor Iyengar class isn't to difficult ,its how she puts them into exams and lab practical's. Honestly the only way I was able to pass the class was by attending her Office hours and studying non stop. This class really benefits people who are full time students due the time they have to study. If there's another professor take them instead.
This class is NOT as difficult as everyone makes it out to be. But it requires A LOT of studying. She posts supplemental videos, watch them but prioritize the slides over anything. First semester I received a B+ and an A in the second semester. I saw the biggest change when I learned how I need to study. Exams are honestly just memorization.
I love Miss I! She is very accessible outside of lecture; I attended almost all of her office hours, she always uploaded supplemental videos for us on Youtube, and her explanations made the content make sense. This is a very difficult class, but she made it bearable. If you put in the work & the effort, you will be successful in this class!
Honestly a very hard class, but the teacher is great. She's understanding and funny. Cares about her students and offers extra credit and even got rid of some assignments to boost peoples grades. She says the grade you get is the grade you earned, but she does help out a lot. Put in the hours and you'll succeed in this class.
This class is tough but doable, as long as you study! You won't be able to memorize the material overnight, so do not wait until the last minute to study. I recommend AUDIO recording the lectures and then going back to the slides to reteach yourself. Ms. Iyengar is also really funny and makes the class entertaining, I really enjoyed her.
professor iyangar is the best she cares about her students and is there for her students. she is Amazing and I would definitely take her course again her office hours are sooo helpful so take advantage. I received an A- first semester 2230 and an A for 2240 she is amazing
The professor is amazing! The class does have a lot of information you need to know but what do you expect from a class aimed towards students going into healthcare. Your are not going to pass this class unless you spend a few hours studying and thats the truth. Any questions you have ask the professor or lab instructor they are super helpful!
Very slow with teaching but it's countered by the fact that the course is lecture-heavy. She does not get the objectives from the modules across and then claims the course is behind schedule. She is a tough grader but not much tech-savvy so the homework quiz questions can be very much wrong. Just contact her to correct the issue but it's frequent.
If you get this professor switch as fast as you can !!! She shouldn't even be called a professor. She's so rude, messy, and just doesn't teach right. She just throws heavy lectures everyday which isnt helpful you can ask her a question and she will be super rude , negative energy we don't need that so drop her class as fast you can
She is an amazing professor! She truly cares about the people taking her course and tries to help them as much as she can. The courses are very lecture-heavy but everything that is on the tests is covered by the lectures and her office hours are so helpful.
The class is very difficult, but Iyengar style of teaching helps.
I forgot to leave a review of how 2240 was for me. Same thing as 2230, The only way to maintain a B- and above is by being a full time student and constantly attending every S.I meeting she has or office hours. If there's another professor take them instead. Some students will defend her and those are only the full time ones that live on campus.
She is really nice! her teaching is very helpful and she's always trying her best to help others do great. She also does extra credit which helps boost your grade up. I would really recommend taking this course with her and there was three exams throughout the whole semester, just make sure you study each day to pass the class.
The class is notoriously difficult I won't lie but regardless of what the other reviews say, you can definitely pass. Study, study, study! Iyengar has supplemental videos and tutoring. She is really nice. Never skip a lecture because you will miss important things she will go over and that is how attendance is taken.
Professor Iyengar helped me transition smoothly into college. I love anatomy, but this course requires a hefty load of focus, will and determination. Apart from being an amazing and effective lecturer, she is incredibly sweet and understanding too! Utilize her supplemental sources. Remember, effort is your strongest precursor to success! :)
This class is absolutely difficult and lecture heavy. Ms. Iyengar always tries to add some dry humor in her lectures and does offer help to those who ask it. Her grading style is reasonable and she does her job well. However, I can see how some can consider Ms. Iyengar to be a bit negative, but I'd say she's more strict and blunt, in my opinion.
Professor Iyengar is a really good professor who is very knowledgeable about what she's teaching. She cares about your understanding and wants to make sure you understand the concept fully. I can see how some may say she has passive aggressive humor, but just don't take it personally. Study early and make sure you really REALLY get everything.
Very hard class to take with this professor. She does really try hard to put together good lecture PowerPoints but the exams are about 65% of grade and very difficult.
This class overall is tough & lecture heavy; uses an app to track attendance & to stay engaged & uses it to ask a question on the lecture. She is a stern teacher, but it makes sense with how heavy the class can be. She really means it when she says to study after every lecture, but always gives resources (office hours, study sessions, & tutoring)
I just wish she wasn't so hard on exams and gave us a study guide
I really enjoyed these two classes and learned a lot. You have to put the work in and STUDY STUDY STUDY if you want to pass the class. The lectures are very interesting. No study guides are given and EVERYTHING ON THE SLIDES is fair game. Overall really enjoyed 2230&2240.
Liked her for 2230 but not for 2240. This semester was supposedly going to be easier than the first but nope. GOOD LUCK
Professor Iyengar's class is very straightforward, and you'll only foster good results if you put in the work. The class is very lecture heavy; the lab and lecture exams make or break your grade! One thing I did notice is that she doesn't give much extra credit. When she does, it does very little to impact the grade.
This definitely is a detail oriented class so you need to know how to study as well as go to SI Sessions, office hours, or tutoring to aid you in passing. Iyengar can be intimidating to approach but she is more than happy to go the extra mile to help students with difficult processes so just ask her! also do your check your understanding questions!
Have had her for only 2 weeks so far and opening canvas makes me want to cry and throw up already lol. She's very stern and makes it very difficult to want to approach her. She makes it seem like she helps students because she has to and can be rude. Based on the past ratings, she doesn't take attendance anymore. I wish she provided study guides.
Definitely not an easy class, passing is possible but you gotta study after every lecture or studying 2 weeks before an exam because of the amount of content and detail covered. All and any information covered in lecture is important. She has lot's of opportunities out of class to ask for help on any of the material.
SI sessions are difficult to attend because seats get booked by the same 20 students. She took away access to see your score on your homework so you don't know what you missed. No study guide but the check your understanding questions are useful, but there's really no way to check if you're doing them correctly.
Honestly just such a hard class. Even when you study the material is very confusing. She loves to trick you on homework and tests and she makes sure to tell us that she's going to trick us. Honestly her class was very draining.
Her class is sooo hard! You can't escape her all labs are her material all lecture is her material doesn't matter if someone else is teaching it. Expects you to know everything. Study study!! Your life will revolve around this class.
The class material is already difficult as is but somehow she makes it harder. She loves to give trick questions which are hard to catch because studying for this class is also difficult. A LOT of studying is needed for this class.
No study guide, you just have to know every bit of information on the slides as she sometimes asks obscure questions on exams. No extra credit given. Attendance is not taken but highly recommended as she does not upload lectures after, and you need to be present to fill out the missing info.
This professor is really knowledgeable in what she's teaching but very unapproachable when it comes to asking her questions. Very difficult class and you need to know every thing she's said and written in her lectures for exams.
you have to do a lot of studying but she's not very easy to get to know and ask questions to. i went to her office hours and she answered my question with a question and didnt even help me. SI sessions were always there but when i would go they'd kick me out and say its full. maybe this is not all the time but thats my experience
because why did this professor actually send someone to the hospital because of how stressful she made this class lol... anyways you have to really go to lecture and pay attention to everything because if not, you WILL fail this class. she loved tricking us on homework too but honestly, this class wasn't too bad as the semester went by. I love A&P!
Extremely complicated class. Expects you to know all the information in order to pass the exams and NO study guide provided. Homework assignments sometimes have wrong answers. She is very hard to get in touch with because of the way she is with the students. SI sessions are provided but class is always full before the start. BE READY TO STUDY A LOT
This class is so hard, CSUSB should observe this professors teaching style when only 10% of the class are passing. That is not a student issue, that is a teaching issue. You are expected to know everything from her slides and I feel like she tries to trick you. I'm probably going to take A&P from a different college like other classmates.
Study, study, and study. Iyengar is a very tough grader and very no nonsense attitude. A lot of people fail this class but honestly most of the time that's on them. Yes Iyengar could have a better attitude and try to make this class more bearable, but A&P is difficult no matter the professor. Her lectures are very engaging, i'll give her that.
Dropped biol2230 as it wasn't needed for my major switch at some point, but I loved sitting in for Iyengar's lectures. She has a really no bs & realistic humor that is actually super endearing and made for fun lecture! Hw and assignments were straightforward, JUST DO YER STUDYING! can absolutely be passed & the resources provided are SO helpful.
Iyengar is not as evil as ppl make her out to be, they're just upset cuz they got a bad grade in the class lol. Make sure to study as often as you can! Any small detail in lecture can be on the exams. This class is hard for a reason. Understanding A&P is crucial especially if you're a pre-nursing student so just put in the effort, I wish I did.
The people saying she is a good professor are LYING to you. I have tried so hard in this class, only to receive a C+. I knew this professor would be horrible when it took on average 10 TIMES for people to complete the SYLLABUS QUIZ. She did not allow for any way to improve in the class as she nor lab professors were allowed to actually help:(
An amazing professor! Her lectures were information heavy but informative. During lectures, the notes are already made and you fill in the blanks or add extra information and when you finish, the notes are incredible help for homework, labs, and tests. If you take the class, Study and do the Q and A's at the end of notes!
AVOID this professor, at all costs. Other reviews say that people only get bad grades because they don't try hard enough/she's a tough grader but it's more than that, she provides negative help, in her own words she said “if you ask after a test to explain one of the answers, i'll report you for academic dishonesty”. A disgrace to education.
This professor makes tests really hard for no reason and shoves to much information to make people fail.
This professor will do anything in her power to try to trick you on any assignment. She always comments how she fails students because it is genuinely her pride and joy. Her goal IS TO FAIL YOU. I recommend taking bio at a different college:)
I honestly had to really learn the material outside of her class through peers, youtube videos, and apps. The slides would be helpful if she actually asked questions that related to them for homework... I constantly vented to my mom who is a nurse and she said the professor was wrong on certain things... Just beware
Everyone is mad because they failed the class, however her classes are difficult but not impossible, as longest you study you'll do alright.
Iyengar expects students to live and breathe A and P. TONS of studying required. SI sessions are difficult to get into if you are not on top of it at the start of the semester. Iyengar might be passionate however, her teaching style lacks which can be seen by the passing rate. It says a lot about this prof. Take at your own risk, good luck!
I don't care what anyone says she does not want us to pass her class. I'd advise you to take A&P at a different college where the professor actually wants you to pass without any unnecessary stress.
"OUU THATS A ROUGH ONE," Class is hard, you need to study every waking hour of your day, but after your done you will have learned everything there is to know about anatomy which is the whole point I guess.
She is extremely difficult and harsh, to the point where it makes you question your life choices. I would highly recommend avoiding her if possible. If you have the option, take the class elsewhere. Her teaching style is very tough, and it's just not worth it.
Personally, I find studying for 1-2 hours a day to be extremely effective on scoring well on lecture exams and practicals. Studying everyday is a MUST if you want an A in the class. Sometimes, I find it quite challenging to keep up with her teachings but she's honestly not that cold hearted as a teacher. If you are consistently studying, ez class
This class is so unnecessarily difficult. The fact that the average test score is between 50-60% every exam in both 2230 and 2240 EVERY semester shows it's more of a teaching problem rather than a student problem.
Class is pretty difficult especially if youre a true freshman shes very unapproachable but if you go to her office hours consistently she warms up to you, but literally just study, study every single day for 1-3 hours and i mean every single day, i promise you, you will regret it if you dont. 2240 was pretty much the same.
I never wanted to wear my seatbelt while on the way to school because her class makes me want to crash my car on the way there literally.
Not a good professor at all, always complaining that the class average is 50% or lower, but at what point does that stop being the students' fault and start being a reflection of her instruction if the entire class is struggling. Many of us are trying. We study, we do everything but it's like none of that matters to her. She does't want success.
Both 2230 & 2240 have actually made me contemplate my entire life. I have looked into different majors numerous times throughout both semesters as she makes it unbearable. It's like no matter what you do or how much effort you put in, the results will always disappoint.
Impossible
There's like maybe 10 out of the 100 something people in the class who got an A. But she'll still find a way to blame us when it's her teaching style that frustrates everyone. She's telling instead of teaching. Do better CSUSB
No reason why this class should make anyone go to the hospital due to stress. I've heard people say they've been to the hospital because of how unnecessarily stressful this class is. College is already hard enough. Don't recommend taking her.
All these ratings are NOT wrong hahah. I also did not wear my seatbelt on my way because this class literally drove us all crazy!! No reason to be so cold-hearted MELISSA. The fact most students have been failing for years straight shows it isn't the students' fault! Her husband must not be doing his job right either smh...GOOD LUCK!
No matter how many complaints or reasons, no one cares. She probably reads them and laughs like the cruel person she is. A&P is hard, but this is straight-up punishment. It's insane. She's only here to cash a check. She doesn't give a single crap about us. Just the money. Leave already.
She's the type of professor who genuinely does not care. She makes us all feel stupid no matter how hard we try. We sacrifice so much for this class, sleep, mental health, time, and for what? Just to still feel like we're failing. She's not supportive at all. I've never been glued to my iPad like this for any class. It's exhausting!!!!!
One of the worst professors I've taken. Makes the class unnecessarily difficult with no opportunity to improve anything. She implemented Iclicker which sometimes would NOT work for me and I would lose points because of that. Do not take her at ALL! SAVE YOUR MENTALITY! There are better professors...
She makes it seem as if the class average being so low is our fault? But why can't you as a teacher stop putting the blame on us and start putting the blame on yourself. How is the O/Bio chem class easier than this class? She's so difficult. Pick someone else and don't suffer
The class is intense! But the exams are nothing like the lecture slides she bases it on stuff we haven't even learned. I got one question right because i went out of my way to watch youtube videos. If i didn't I wouldn't have known the answer at all. Horrible. -10/10
This class felt like we were set up to fail. Would not recommend unless you're prepared to teach yourself everything. The professor showed little concern for student success, offered almost no support, and seemed more focused on collecting a paycheck than actually teaching.
Professor Iyengar is a great instructor who cares about her students. She breaks down concepts clearly, making the material easier to understand. The class is demanding, but if you study consistently and stay engaged, you'll do well. Don't be discouraged by what others say she's always willing to help. You just need to put in the time and effort:)
This class is just hard. Lectures are interesting but her exams hardly have any information based on the notes. NO study guide ever provided and expects us to memorize EVERYTHING. I mean it was a bit easier than lasts semester but I mean just a tiny little bit. You have to study every day after lecture, and before hand tbh. I wish you all luck.
Both classes are very complicated. She expects us to memorize everything and exams are really hard. The average on exams are usually around the 50-60% range which really says a lot. I really don't know how some people get A's if the passing rate is always really low as well. Honestly find a different professor for this course. Good luck!
Taking this class was the worst moment of all my 19 years of living. Very tough class, studied very hard but ultimately ended off with a B. 2240 was easier than 2230, if you are going to take this class, make sure to dedicate LOTS of time just for this class. I made the mistake of taking max credits and working a full time job this year.
This class was unnecessarily difficult. The professor didn't explain concepts clearly and seemed to expect us to already know the material. Exams were overly complicated and sometimes didn't reflect what was taught in lectures. Definitely not a course I'd recommend unless you enjoy teaching yourself everything.
I found this class extremely challenging, not because of the material itself, but because of how it was taught. The professor moved too fast, didn't offer much support, and graded harshly. Even students who usually do well struggled to keep up. Would not take again.
This was one of the most frustrating classes I've taken. The professor was unapproachable and unwelcoming, the lectures were confusing, and the assignments were sometimes harder than the exams. It felt like we were set up to fail rather than succeed.
This class was brutal. The professor treated it like it was a grad-level course, lectures felt like a podcast on 2x speed, and the tests were straight-up impossible. Even the lab instructors felt bad! Save yourself the headache.
As a first-time freshman, I felt like we were thrown into the deep end with no life jacket. The lectures were super fast-paced, no review sessions, and the grading was brutal. Not beginner-friendly at all. Regret not reading reviews before choosing this class
This class felt more like a punishment than a learning experience. Everything about this class was discouraging and extremely complex. Avoid unless it's required.
Exams felt like they were designed to trick us. No practice problems, no study guide, no feedback. It was super stressful from start to finish.
I spent more time trying to guess what would be on the test than actually learning. The professor gave no practice material whatsoever. Her exams would be like chapters 1-6, but some of the chapters have multiple parts, for example, it would say like chapter 4.1 and 4.2. This is misleading, as it's no different from an extra chapter.
I believe Iyengar is a good professor. While her class is hard, she is keeping it real. Nursing school is going to be harder than that with way less help. Whenever I needed it I could go to Iyengar for help during office hours. She seems unapproachable until you actually go talk to her. I did have to put in 4-8 hours of studying outside of class.
She treats this class like a grad level course. Even our lab instructors felt bad for us. Save yourself the headache be if you want to teach yourself the class because this class felt like 4x speed.
This class is ROUGH: fast paced, loads of content to learn, and brutal exams. Iyengar's teaching style reflects that. Now, while Prof. Iyengar can seem unapproachable, in my experience, that's far from the truth. She is VERY strict, but is willing to help her students. I will say that if you don't put 110% in this class, you are in for a bad time.
Iyengar is a good Professor. She does speak quickly throughout her lectures. Although she initially comes across as unapproachable, she does care. I would recommend taking advantage of her office hours and the SI meetings. This is a challenging course that requires study time outside of class.
Did she really think we wouldn't notice her giving herself these "decent" reviews lol
Iyengar is very knowledgeable and gives strong lectures, but the class can feel overwhelming due to the amount of info. It's the hardest class I've taken, no extra credit or study guides. No rationale u won't see what you missed on quizzes or homework. If you study hard and stay dedicated, you can pass, but be ready to put in serious effort
These ratings aren't exaggerating. Majority of the people in this class were 4.0 students in highschool, yet they failed out. You have to be willing to put in 150%. Repetition will be the only way to get through! Students tried cramming the night before, because they used to be able to do so in highschool, and they would not do good on her tests.
The class is difficult, but so is the concept of anatomy, there are two sections for this very reason. I would recommend watching her supplementary videos online, these genuinely carried my grade. Don't be afraid to talk to her, she is a tough grader, but she isn't heartless!
this class is hard for a reason. they want to weed out as much students from the nursing program. do NOT take anatomy here i cried everyday lmao
1000% love this prof, you do have to put in a lot of work and its not easy, however Iyengar herself is one of the most caring profs I have ever had and also the funniest, extremly down to earth and overall a really great person, however her class is one of the hardest things I have had to do.
A&P is an extremely difficult class but Iyengar is a wonderful professor. I enjoyed all her lectures and felt that she prepared me well for my future. people think Iyengar is the issue but it's literally because they don't put in the effort to actually learn/study. you have to be willing to study consistently, visit office hours, tutoring, etc.
This class wasn't awful but it's very repetitive and she's teaching 200 kids at once so it is hard to be doing more than what she does. She doesn't really care if you pass or not but she's not a mean person. The course is very hard in itself, but if you do try you'll pass.
she made me get back on my antidepressant
I maintained an A the entire semester, however it is not easy at all! If you want to pass you have to study for this class like at least 4-7 times a week, and you have to sacrifice a lot of time. The lectures are really heavy, my best tips is recording lecture and then hear it back again and take notes, recall also really helps.
