Dr. Kelley is awesome! Her class isn't easy, but if you study you can do fine. She really loves Chemistry, and will go out of her way to help you understand it! I really liked her class a lot!

What an amazing teacher! She's very helpful but her tests are very hard! She gives very detailed notes and is willing to help you until you understand. She gives lots of examples but the questions on the test are always a lot harder and her mulitple choice will kill you! Good teacher though.
She's very enthusiastic and she LOVES chemistry. Her classes are very interesting and she takes advantage of every second we have of class. Her labs are really easy, but her tests are sometimes tricky, though if you really study from the book and pay attention in class, there is no need to worry.
Although the classes were SUPER hard, I learned more in these classes than any I have ever taken. Dr. Kelley is SO SWEET and she is very willing to help if you ask. Her tests ARE hard, but she is an awesome professor.
Awesome teacher! She's tough, but extremely helpful. I hated chemisty before her class, but now I love it. Sher really loves teaching, and it shows. I actually learned chemistry, rather than memorized. Take her!
She does a very good job. I really like the way that she teaches.
Dr. Kelley is AWESOME!If you've had high school chemistry its not that bad. She explains everything really well and makes sure you understand before she goes on. She also gives you old tests to study before the exams which are a little difficult but manageable! If you want to learn a lot definately take her!
Dr.Kelley makes this class soo much harder than it is. She puts questions on the tests and quizes that are crazy, she calls them Jazzed up problems, but some of them she never even really explains how to do, I guess she thinks your suppose to just know how to do them Especially the short answer questions. Her class isn't boring though.
Very ENERGETIC teacher! Tests ARE hard. She takes advantage of every second. VERY HELPFUL ane easy to talk to. Will take time out to help you understand. Reasonable.
SHE IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!! I HAD HER LAST SEMESTER AND I WOULD'VE DONE BETTER IF I WOULD'VE TAUGHT MYSELF!! HER TESTS ARE A KILLER BECAUSE SHE HAS WHAT SHE CALLS "JAZZED UP" TEST QUESTIONS WHEN THEY ARE REALLY STUPID QUESTIONS THAT SHE PULLED OUT OF HER HEAD ABOUT HER STUPID DOG!! IF YOU CAN TAKE ANOTHER TEACHER--RUN TO THEM!!!!
I absolutely loved this teacher. Very energetic and so much fun...I mean its chemistry so its not super easy anyway...she teaches very well and helps you whenever you need it. Test are hard, but thats what studying is for so I passed my tests. Take her if you want to learn a great deal and have lots of fun while doing it. Love her!!!!
She is an awesome teacher! She will help you anytime. She uses everyday examples that make class fun and applyable. If you are an A student then you will get an A in her class. She doesn't give A's but she will make it as easy as possible.I wouldn't take anyone BUT Dr Kelley
she gives great notes... but the tests were nearly impossible!
she is a really helpful teacher-easy to understand/great teaching skills. she makes you enjoy chemistry
She is nice, but VERY VERY hard!
First of all I would like to say Dr. Kelley is an awesome person. She is as nice as can be and will help you until you understand a concept. Physiological Chemistry II is a hard course, though, but I doubt it is just due to her. She loves what she does and it shows everyday in class. If you're not afraid to ask for clarification, I say take her!
She is a nice enough professor but her exams were extremely hard. If you are person who likes to study then by all means take her, because you will be studying your butt off just to make C's on exams. And dont EVER miss a class because you will get so far behind in notes. If I had the choice I wouldnt take her again!
keep in mind you are also competing with her baby and the other 2-3 classes she is teaching when you go to her office hours. There's a whole line of students waiting. Overall, very nice lady though.
She's extremely hard!
Great teacher! Biochem is a great course! She's tough but you will learn! Very funny too and says "Yeah-yeah" a lot!!!
She is Awesome, Awesome, Awesome! Great teacher, learn lots, attendance not taken, but heed the advice, go to class to understand what is going on! A great person and member of the Catalytic Trio...HIS!
Dr. Kelley is very energetic about Chemistry. She seems like she would be a wonderful teacher b/c she presents the material in a clear and precise manner. Her tests are not comparable to her teaching style. They are more difficult than any of the material covered in class or in the book. I WOULD NOT SUGGEST TAKING HER!!!!!!!!!!!
She is a very sweet lady and really loves chemistry, but her tests are hard. Do all the problems she assigns in the book for practice and take good notes, but be prepared the tests are much harder than the practice tests and quizzes. She is helpful during office hours and likes to see you put forth effort.
She's great!!!
Her test is extremely hard, I studied a lot from notes and read the book, still did so bad on her test.
Hard hard hard. She wasn't very helpful when I went in for help either. She made me feel dumb when I asked questions. Had to drop the class, so hard! I would recommend taking someone else if you aren't very good at Chemistry!
DO NOT TAKE HER!She seems to be upbeat and presents the information in a way you feel like you understand but dont let her fool you once you get to the test they are impossible. have the class has dropped I have studied myh butt off felt like i knew it all and still did very bad on the test. Do urself a favor and save ur money dont take her!!!!!!!!
Dr. Kelley is easily my favorite professor at UCA. She's funny, she's easy to understand, she's very clear about what is important to know well and she'd helpful if you go by her office. Everyone complains about how hard her tests are, but if you know the material, you'll be fine.
She is a very good teacher, good at simplifying difficult concepts. Her tests are hard, harder than the practice and lecture, but if you do enough practice problems you will do fine. I only used the book for practice problems. Mainly just do a lot of practice problems and re-work them.
If you like being challenged....then she's perfect. You will think you are following along in class, but once you get to the quizzes and exams you'll be llke "WTF! What the heck is this?" Even though she doesn't take attendence you CAN NOT miss! You will be so behind.
Dr. Kelley's classes were by far my most challenging freshman year. She is the most difficult PhysChem professor you can choose, but you will leave her class knowing more than you could ever imagine. Her exams are ridiculousy hard. They are nothing like the old exams she gives you for review. If you don't understand a topic-go see her ASAP!
I took her for biochem I and had to work hard, but it was totally worth it. You will learn so much! She is funny and friendly and very easy to find for one-on-one office visits. She wants to help you! Tests are hard; you'll think you understand the material but she tests to see if you can critically think and apply it, not just memorize stuff.
I had her for phys chem I and II. I love her as a person. She's hilarious, but can be intimidating. You'll learn a lot, but you really really have to work hard in her class. Tests are VERY hard and it's not a good idea to miss her lectures. I made a B in both classes, but I had to work for it. Making note cards and studying ahead of time helps.
Dr. Kelley is so nice as a person but her tests are super hard!! I studied all the time and really had to work to make a B. Even though the class is hard I recommend taking her if you are serious about learning because she really prepares you for Chem2. If you don't understand something ask her because she is helpful.
Dr. Kelley is extremely knowledgeable. I really loved her as a person, but her class was just too hard. However, she is always willing to help out any way she can. Her tests are the HARDEST of the class, so just make sure you understand and work the practices she gives you.
Dr. Kelley is an incredible professor. She is awesome at explaining things, and she is the most helpful professor I have ever had. However, she is incredibly difficult. I mean, she is DIFFICULT. This being said, she also tries her hardest to make sure you understand the material before the test and what you missed after it is over.
I would not take her!!! She can be very arrogant at times and doesn't explain things very well!! I took her for Phys Chem II and more than half of the class dropped!!!
She is very difficult. Chemistry is just a hard subject. Sometimes I felt like she was way over my head. She is a nice lady and is willing to help if you ask. She wants everyone to do good; however, she will tell you she makes the tests difficult on purpose. She gives you old tests to study which is nice. I did not enjoy the class, but I did learn.
It's a very hard subject and she doesn't sugarcoat. You WILL come out knowing your stuff. She's very funny and very engaging making the whole process a lot better. Not a prof to take if you want an easy A, but definitely one to take if you want to know what you're doing!
SHE IS DIFFICULT!!!!! You really have to be on your A-game to understand the material. Hell I have to repeat the course again!
Dr. Kelley is amazing! I am not a big fan of chemistry and she made me love this class. I learned so much in this class. It is definitely VERY VERY DIFFICULT, but you will learn a ton. I never used the book and still came out with a very high B. Dr. Kelley is very willing to help and she is also pretty funny.
I LOVE Dr. Kelley! She's pretty tough, but if you listen in class and understand your notes you will be fine. She's also very helpful so ask her if you have questions. If you have access to any of her old tests they are very helpful. Not the same, but they help you understand her way of asking things!
She's incredibly hard. I had to drop the class. Don't bother asking her for help or going to her office, she's always with someone or busy.
Dr. Kelley is one of the best teachers I've ever had!! She knows how to teach and she LOVES chemistry. The people who say she "isn't helpful" obviously never tried to get help from her. If you go to her office and ask for help, she will sit there for as long as she needs and help you. I highly recommend her!!
Dr. Kelley is incredibly difficult, but very very good!! You HAVE to study, and you have to do the practice problems. If you actually do your work, listen, and go to her for help, you will learn a lot and do good in the class!
One of the toughest professors there is. She knows what she's talking about and makes the topic very interesting and fun with her loud and wacky personality. You have to study and you have to do the homework or you won't be able to pass her ridiculous tests. If you're looking for an easy A, DONT take her.
She is a GREAT professor. She knows her subject very well. Sometimes she thinks you should know everything she does which gets frustrating. Class is a must and you have to take good notes and pay attention to be able to pass her tests.
Unreasonably hard professor. My class started out with over 80 people and we are down to under 40. Her tests are absolutely insane. I am a pre-PT major so i have to have this class, but may end up having to retake it. Do NOT take her if it is possible. I am giving you fair warning.
Dr. Kelley is hilarious and keeps class interesting. But she is incredibly tough. Her tests are extremely hard. Definitely NOT an easy A or B. If chemistry isn't your best subject, I would NOT take her class.
Kelley keeps class fun, however her office is always full of students with questions and it is hard to get in to see her. The tests are way harder than lecture and the example problems aren't even close to the test problems. She gives lots of quizzes that are hard too. She is not an awful teacher, but given the option I would take another teacher.
I would recommend you take somebody else for 1402. Her test questions are way harder than the example problems. She's really goofy and sort of funny, so class is interesting. The labs and other assignments are easy points, but tests and quizzes are pretty hard.
Don't be fooled by her sweet voice and even temper; Dr. Kelley is a very tough professor. She's also one of my all-time favorite professors. She knows her stuff and makes class interesting. Make sure to go to her office hours, even if you aren't really confused. Go to class and pay attention. She's awesome and it's worth the study time!
As Dr Kelley says, students either love or hate her. I loved her and took her for both of my Chem classes. She makes Chem interesting with her enthusiasm and goofiness. However, do not take if you don't plan on studying. Her tests are pretty hard because she wants to be sure that you know the information. Great class. I recommend her.
Very difficult class, but amazing professor. Definitely a lot of work, but I've heard the other prof for this class is even harder. Doesn't give any extra credit, but labs are pretty easy. I would recommend.
kelley is super hard. shes really good at explaining but the test are nothing like the problems you learn in class. she counts off for petty things and her jokes arent funny at all. overall good at teaching but is very hard grader and test giver.
I took Intro to Organic & Biochem, and it was a very tough class! However, Dr. Kelley is SO helpful when you ask her for help. She's always willing to meet with you in her office or during labs to help. She's also pretty funny and makes class interesting I could've made a B if I hadn't slacked off at the end. You HAVE to study and earn your grade!
I took Kelley for Intro to Organic and Biochem and it was an extremely difficult class. I was sick a lot this past semester and that definitely affected my grade. She's an extremely hard grader but she cares about her students. She also has a tendency to treat some like a kindergartener but she gets the point across.
She was excessively hard and made it difficult on many students in the class. At least half of the class dropped or had dropped before (and were retaking it).
Very hyper teacher, but good teacher. Sometimes on the quizzes or tests her problems I lectures won't be perfectly the same, but if you study enough you should do okay. Hard grader and a hard class. She's pretty funny, and class is a good environment. I noticed quite a bit of people dropped the class and it was some peoples second time taking it.
Dr. Kelley was one of my favorite professors. I was in her office almost once a week and she was very willing to help me. She will respond to email if you have any questions and her lectures are pretty interesting. Her tests and quizzes are pretty difficult. Be in class or you won't pass.
Professor Kelley is a great teacher and makes her lectures interesting. However, her test are super hard so you actually have to study to do well. There are 4 exams and a quiz almost every other week. You have a lot of chances for grades as you have a total of 900 points the semester. Show up to class or you won't pass. totally not an easy A.
This is literally the hardest class I've ever taken. I do not make C's but I was thankful just to not make a D in this class. I like Dr. Kelley as a person but she's not the most caring teacher. She spent literally 8 minutes talking about her rabbit at the beginning of lecture instead of telling us what would actually be on the quiz.
Her class is definitely hard, but I feel that she explained the material well. Shes really nice, and I enjoyed going to her class. You will definitely have to study and do the problems she gives for practice to get a better understanding.
I took her for Biochemistry and it was extremely difficult. But Biochem is one of the hardest classes at UCA and she made it bearable. If you actually study and practice it isn't that hard. But this class will definitely suck up a lot of your time.
I'm an average student but i work really hard and usually C's and above are fruit of my labor, not with this class. She teaches things one way and then asks them a completely different way on the test. She would see that the entire class did bad on a test or quiz and would do nothing besides make a remark about how bad we all did. First D ever.
She is the worst professor any one could every take. Unfortunately she do not know how to either teach or help her students understand the topics. After listening to her lectures students will feel lost. Class Average is between 45-50 for which she should be ashamed of herself. If half of the class fails the teacher is at fault. No curve either.
Would teach you one thing and ask a completely different thing on quizzes and exams. Test averages were 50s which doesnt reflect on the class but on her as a professor. Stay away from her at all costs!!
I had to retake her class (not by choice). still need to retake it. I am an a/b student, never have made a c in my entire career and here I am barely making a D. She is more concerned with students cheating than teaching them. If you ask a question, she makes you feel like you hadn't attempted to learn it. She just ridicules you and says "rewatch"
Her average Exam scores are 55'S and under. Let that speak for itself. Take someone else. 4 exams and 10 quizzes, and a few assignments. Do not bother asking her to explain, she will only tell you what she wants you to know. If you are not a biochemist with a PhD then you better bypass this professor. If she is your only choice, then I'm sorry!
People are generous. They say you have to earn your grade. Well, you can't earn your grade if you are not presented with the material needed. If you ask for help, you still have to figure it out by yourself. Her favorite response is 'I talked abt that, or rewatch the lecture.' If you have to live in her office, and still fail the course, Cmon...
Dont get me wrong she is one of the nicest people youll ever talk to. Her tests are just so tough. She teaches you the big pictures of everything but asks about one specific thing on the tests that you just have to know or youre missing it. My advice is take this class with an easy schedule and pour all of your time into this class! Good luck!
- Knowledge tested on exams doesn't match lecture content - Tests how you think about BioChem, but lectures at a basic level - Won't answer student questions - Few practice problems - Confusing grammar/word choice - Little partial credit - Rarely corrects her mistakes (the issue isn't the mistakes - it's how she treats students who point them out)
She is a nice and caring person, but this class is definitely a beast. Exams averages usually 55%... they force you to think beyond what she presents to you in lecture, so there's a lot of memorization and application involved. Reach out and get to know her, ask her questions as much as possible, and be ready to spend a ton of time on this class.
Biochem material is dense and hard, Kelley is the best job. I would take an easier course load with this class and be ahead and study throughout each week, not wait until test day. Be ahead and study hard for the quizzes/ assignments to have a leverage in overall grade. Tests are hard, but she lowers her grading criteria reasonably.
Dr. Kelley is a decent professor and nice person. She is VERY lecture heavy. Be prepared for lots of weekly assignments. You have to take detailed notes and study in order to pass her class. You will have to dig into research on your own of the concepts in order to fully understand them. She goes by the syllabus so no surprises. Happy studying!
U have to watch lectures online, then go to class to hear the same thing. She does not do practice problems or show examples in class. She skims the surface of the material and asks VERY detailed Q's on hmwk, quizzes, & exams (with no partial credit) - so u never know what to expect. U have to devote all ur time to this class or u won't pass.
Biochem 2 with Dr. Kelley was the most amazing experience in all of my chemistry classes. She is a respected professor and is great at explaining the concepts in Biochem 2. You will have to do a 20min lecture at the end of the course, which may seem daunting, but was SO much fun. No tests or final but three quizzes that you had to prepare well for.
Professor Kelley is super nice. The class had 10 quizzes (1 drop) about once a week, 7 assignments, 3 exams (100pts each), and a case study the last week of class (120 pts). She teaches you the basics for the quiz, but the exams are very hard and complex. This class has a heavy work load, but 78+=A at the end of the course.
This class is HARD. Please go to class and ask questions, Dr. Kelley loves answering them and understands where her students are struggling. She gives quizzes a week before the exam, and lets you keep them. If you get something wrong, ask for help for better understanding. Devote 2 hours a day per lecture, going to class isn't enough. NO FINAL!
Dr. Kelley is an effective and engaging lecturer, but her exams are very difficult and require complex thinking and in-depth knowledge of the course, which are somewhat balanced by her curve. My class's curve was 78=A, 68=B, 58=C. Study well and watch the assigned videos and you *should* be fine. Don't overthink the end of semester case study.
Very challenging class. Textbook isn't very helpful
