Way too much info to remember for tests. She's short with you and doesn't seem to care much to help you out.
She needs some psychological counseling.
Quite possibly the worst professor I've ever had. Arrogant, nitpicky and generally awful. Whatever you do, don't take her. You've been warned!
I have had her for two classes and although she is tough she knows her stuff. those of you who did not like her probably had no interest in the class itself. Overall I believe he classes are the ones I learned the most in.

This class was terrible. It was hard, and should have been a graduate course. Dr. Klapper is very vague on what she wants, and doesn't seem to want to help you or care to help you. There was a ton of work expected of you as well.
She's snooty. The way she will pick apart your writings will make you feel like a big dummy. Save yourself. Do not take her class.
EXTREMELY:arrogant, difficult, vague and unpleasant. She has us do English papers for history classes. I am a very good student but not doing well in her class. The absolute worst professor I have ever had.
This woman made me miserable. She is a stickler for absence/lateness.She accused our entire class of plagiarism and scared the crap out of everyone. She knows her stuff, though.I can see her as one of those old ladies with alot of cats. But she's not old.
I don't know why I keep taking her classes and thinking each time she is going to be a better professor/human being. To all Rowan students I say "DON'T TAKE KLAPPER'S CLASSES!" and to Dr. Klapper I say "GET SOME SERIOUS HELP!"
She is a fantastic teacher and clearly knows her stuff. Anyone who complains about her is either too lazy to work harder or simply too stupid to comprehend their mistakes. I’d recommend her to anyone who is a serious student, and who wants to improve th
US 1 should have been easy. I pulled a C...my GPA is 3.4, what's wrong with this picture? Dr. Klapper. Have fun writing papers for this grammar hawk...she will not like them. Her class was very boring. Reminds me of a bird.
She is a very hard teacher, and grades papers and midterms like it is an english class. Do not take any classes by her!
I sat in the front row and still fell asleep...if you took AP in high school you are going to be bored...because she repeats everything...only good thing is you never have to read because she memorized the book and recites it to you...
Absolute worst professor. What should have been an easy intro class turned out harder than the classes in my major. She should be teaching english with the way she grades papers. THERE IS NO PLEASING HER! Drop her class while you still can!
I have had her for two upper level classes. I have enjoyed both of them very much. She knows her subject matter well and does interesting in class enrichment projects. If you want to be prepared for Praxis II, she will get you there.
Great class!! Good supplemental readings. Work load not too hard. NO MID TERM!! She gave us 70% of the final. Only 3 short papers to write. Although she makes comments, they are for your improvement!! Try a class with her.
DONT TAKE HER! she has been on academic probation for failing too many students.Always finds something wrong with your papers to make it impossible for an A, maybe even a B. DEFINITELY grades like an english major!& im good at english, so i thought!B*TCH
the klap is easily the hardest teacher i've ever had. read about a book a week, and is an unfair grader.
Professor Klapper is not on academic probation. Where did you hear that nonsense? If you think that history papers should not have to follow the rules of proper English than you will not like her.
how many peeps like the klapper.three total at rowan.is the same person giving yellow smile faces on this board cause the klapper is way too strict and TOO DAMN HARD for any class whether it be lower or upper level history classes.

Very fair teacher. If you do the work you will get the grade. She knows her material.
as busta rhymes once said....DON'T TAKE THE KLAP..KLAPKLAP, KLAP, KLAP, KLAP, KLAPKLAP
Horrible, Horrible, Horrible! She shows no respect for her students, she is mean without being provoked and clearly hates men. Oh, and she taught the class badly too. About the only thing I got from the class was an ulcer!
Avoid like the clap.
Boring lectures, bad attitude, 2 papers, large participation grade, fair exams.....horrible person
She's a really tough grader. For the final she expects you to know all the terms from the entire semester, but only tests you on 10 of them.
She wasn't as bad as people make her out to be. She's helpful and knows the material, but if you take her be prepared to study. Don't take her if you need to take a History Gen. Ed. and want to have an easy time.
Give me a break! Those who give her a bad rating are LAZY! Her work load is not that bad in comparison with other professors in the history dept. She is interesting and knowledgeable and is a fair grader if you DO YOUR WORK!!!
Dr. Klapper was the best teacher I've ever had in my life. Extremely helpful both in and out of the classroom. She is a tough but fair grader and expects you to know how to write like a college student. Take her if you want to learn a lot!
a blatant feminist.reminds me of barbara streisand.i had to take the classes because i needed them for the history requirement.the few jabronis who think shes great should become english majors because thats the department where she belongs.dont kiss ass.
Unclear instructions about essays, doesn't like to listen to responses, very rude. Needs a MAKEOVER and a MAN
Klapper is not a bad teacher, she's willing to help if you need it. She's just uninteresting. If you're taking a US History class (and want to learn and have fun) take it with Kress or Carrigan.
Dr.Klapper isn't that bad. She's really into Women's History and teaches it great! Her work load isn't that bad, but watch out for the pop quizes!! She gives papers, but is an easy grader!
An excellent professor. Really knows her material. Found her lectures very interesting & i actually learned something. Overall very fair in grading. If you do the work and the readings, you'll do well.
Very hard, we read a book a week and wrote a paper every week as well. She's always there to help though. The final paper was long as ridiculous. She grades like an english teacher so be careful with grammar. Work hard and you will be fine.
If you have trouble writing proper English than you will have a difficult time with Dr. Klapper. She has high standards, but she is always around to help.
If you're willing to put some effort in you will get a good grade. Knows her stuff and uses various different teaching methods. I would recommend her to anyone who enjoys history.
Hard teacher but you actually learn something. Too tough on grading essays. She was harder on my history essays than my comp 2 teacher was on comp essays. Need to study for tests sinec essays are difficult.
Very easy teacher, had her for US2...Although I am a history major and already know quite a bit, I was able to read the review sheets(never opened the book) and got an A in the class...Watch out, however, be very careful about citations in papers as she has a hawk eye(she thought I plagarized something even when I didn't lol). Also, prep essays.
All I have to say is, know your stuff and do the reading. She is a hardnosed professor who does not accept slackers. If you slack in her class she will bury you She is not a bad professor, because making you work does not equal bad. People need to stop being so damn lazy and do the work, you are in college now. She is a great prof.
Dr. Klapper is an amazing history professor. Her instructions were very clear and it made the class easy. It was a 400 level class and we watched a few movies and wrote 2 papers and took a final. It was one of the best history classes
Klapper is a tough no b.s. teacher but you will learn! I took a class with her my senior year even after an advisor recommended I drop because she is awesome. You're there to learn might as well learn from someone who really knows what she's talking about and can apply it to today.
Interesting class but the paper was the probably one of the most confusing things I ever done. My writing is my writing and changing it isn't going to help much. My knowledge is put into the paper for knowledge sake not to find out how much grammatical errors that I have. Beware of the RED PEN
Two papers, a few tests, no chances for extra credit. The class itself has no tricks, but she is a VERY tough grader. She's a lecturer and doesn't mess around, but class isn't that bad. I've had better, I've had worse. I'd say it's definitely a do-able course
She is a nasty person who finds pleasure in ripping apart her students and doesn't try to help you improve. She makes you read a lot of books in a short amount of time. The workload is way too much. She feels you should only concentrate on her class. She never has anything positive to say. She enjoys upseting her class and feeling superior.
Read the chapter essays and be prepared to discuss what you have read. No mid-term or final. Final book presentation and several papers throughout the semester.
She is a very tough history teacher who grades like an English professor. She is blunt, unclear, and prideful. You read a book a week and write a paper a week. On top of that be prepared to have nearly everything for your final research paper ready by week 3. If you see her name for a class you registered for, I would advise switching classes ASAP
Had her for Women in American History. She's very nice, knowledgeable, and pretty funny. There is a lot of reading (3 texts, 2 novels) but it's pretty easy to understand. 3 short papers throughout the class and a final. Watch out for the pop quizzes! (1 or 2 short answers on each) Take her class if you actually want to learn!
Dr. Klapper is a VERY HARD grader. Through the first 10 assignments in the class the highest grade was a B+. If you like reading and writing a lot then take her but you will have to work to get a B.
AWFUL. Worst class I have ever had to take. She is a terrible professor who only talks about her lame books that no one cares about. You will work harder in this class than any other and the highest grade you will get is a B-, if you're lucky. She will treat you like you're incompetent and a waste of life and frustrate you to no end. GOOD LUCK.
Klapper is hard, but if you work hard you will get a decent grade. Do not go by all the ratings on this website by the methods classes. Methods is bad either way. I had her for America War to War and Methods. She knows what she is talking about and war to war was very interesting. Very hard grader.
Dedicated professor. Does excellent presentations. She makes a great teacher. She encourages you, strongly, to do the best that you possibly can and pushes you to work harder. If you take any of her classes, be prepared for a lot of homework - something which you cannot skim over at all. She will catch you out at every turn.
My first impression of her was not good. It took a while for her to warm up to the class, but once she did she was great! She grades fairly because she is VERY up front of what she expects of her students. However, she will rip your papers apart, but she only wants what is best for you and feels that you are in the University to be the best!!
She is the worse professor. She is very set in her ways if you don't do well with grammar get help. She is hug on grammar and she is a hard grader. I did bad on everything and still passed barley with a C-. Believe me all the work you don you don't want to retake this class especially with her
She is a VERY tough grader and requires a heavy reading load(I had to buy 7 books for this one course-3 which were novels!) She rips students apart on tests and papers. I worked very hard and still am not able to achieve good grades. DON'T TAKE HER unless you are a History major who loves to read meaningless novels.
Klapper is not a prof you want to take. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you don't take ANY of her courses!! She asks for details on the exams, but you can never please her, even by filling up 2 or 3 blue books. She is the absolute worst prof I ever had! no b.s.! Avoid her at all costs!
Yes- She is tough, but only to make you better! If you pay attention in class, do the reading, and take good notes then the tests and quizzes are not a problem.
I had Klapper my first semester at Rowan. She was ridiculously hard. I feel she is a bit over the top with her demands. I had asked her, a week in advance, if I could leave class 15 minutes early to attend my daughter's Back to School night. She told me no that class was too important. To me that is nuts since I never missed class.Stay away!!
It amazes me that so many people at the college level are not able to keep up with their work that they complain about his woman. Yes, her course is challenging, however, you did choose to attend college, did you not? She will help you with anything.Do your HW and you will succeed!!
Professor Klapper is a challenging professor who has high standards. It takes rigorous preparation to do well in her classes. One on one she is very helpful if you bring your A game. I am very glad that I took her as her class was great preparation for graduate school. You are in college now and it is time to tighten up the grammar!
She is an extremely tough professor who seems to enjoy the pain she causes her students. She seems to find a few people at the start of the year and it looks like she purposely tries to break them down. It seems like you cannot get anything right with her at all and makes you feel like a complete idiot. I would say never take her for methods.
She is very tough teacher. I had her for America from war to war. You have 2 papers, 3 tests. You HAVE to do the readings and you must participate and attend class if you want a shot at a good grade. She's not very approachable, but she knows what she is talking about. It is an upper level history class, so you have to work.
I had Klapper my first semester at Rowan and left class crying almost every time. She was not helpful at all. In fact, I felt as though she was belittling me the entire time. If I heard "use Rampolla" one more time I would've exploded. I'm an A-B student who always does their work and still barely managed a C-. Please take someone else!!!
If you care about history, Dr. Klapper is an excellent professor. Her grading and expectations are tough, but if you keep up with the material and show an eagerness to participate, the class can be enjoyable. She's knowledgeable on many areas of history, and holds her students to a standard that expects them to care about what they are learning.
Some comments about Dr. Knapper on here do not sound like her at all. She is an extremely kind teacher who is passionate about her topic and lectures. If you do the reading and participate you will do absolutely fine. Pop quizzes are normal two General questions about the readings, very simple. One of the best history professors i have had.
I dont suggest this teacher, especially for historical methods. She assigned five, hundred or more page books for the class to individually read. Four books required the reading and a paper pertaining to the book due the next class. Classes were held once a week. She constantly refers you to find the answer in a citation book. NO A grades.
IMO: good historian, terrible professor. Grades your writing as if you're a history professor and not a student; no A's. Instead of helping class when we didn't understand, she yelled at us in emails (using all caps). Once asked her why my paper was flawed and what I could do to improve, and she told me,"I'm not going to write your paper for you."
Can be difficult but if you do the work you'll be fine. If you're interested in Jewish or women's history take her.
Very good teacher. Expect to work for your grade, but you learn a lot. Would definitely take her class again.
Poor attitude. Does not give helpful feedback. she reminded me of an angry mommy when the class as a whole was unable to perform to her standard. Perhaps she should have taken that as a clue that the whole class did not understand the assignment given. Goes off topic into her own life quite a bit, so be prepared to force some fake smiles. Not good
I've cried multiple times for this class. No matter how hard I try, my hard efforts are not reflected in the grades I receive. She's unforgiving and not helpful if you seek help. Her assignments can be confusing and classes are discussion based. Even the best students said they'd feel lucky to get a B.
Professor Klapper was your standard college professor. You must attend class, you will have to do the readings, there are pop quizzes, and all your papers and presentations are critiqued heavily. It was a high-level course, so I went in expecting this. Watch out, because she's also ridiculously passive aggressive.
Dr. Klapper is a challenging professor, however, her feedback on your work is incredibly helpful. I am sorry but do not complain you have gotten a bad grade if you feel entitled to an A when half of you know you did not deserve it. She is tough, but taking her classes are worth while and will have you become a better writer for future classes.
Dr. Klapper's class was not easy, but the hard work definitely paid off in the end. I know a lot more, and appreciate a lot more, about women's history than I did when I came in to her class. She is passionate about the topic. Her class has made me a better student thanks to her feedback on papers. Do the work for your grade and you'll do fine.
She reminds me of phoebe from friends because shes annoying the way speaks. Shes super passive aggressive. Her lectures are dead and there is barely any group discussion. She will assign you read she will assign you reading and expect you to memorize it to every detail for her pop quizzes that she gives just about every week. DONT TAKE THE KLAPPER
She's a good lecturer and assigns really really fascinating stuff to read. Beyond that, she is kinda scary and can be mean at times. I have definitely left class upset, panicked and hurt by something she said. She can be passive aggressive at times as well.
Professor Klapper is extremely knowledgable and passionate about Women/Gender studies, and the class overall is extremely interesting. She is very heavy on participation, and will definitely not give you an Easy A, but I think the class is very worth-while and I would recommend her to anyone interested in the subject
If I could go back to when I picked my classes and not take Dr Klapper, I would in a heartbeat. She is mean. She is terrifying. I cried multiple times. I couldn't sleep before class. She doesn't care about her students at all and makes us feel like crap all the time. I have been riddled with anxiety over her for weeks. Never take her ever EVER
I read about 5 books(on top other classes), wrote about 4 papers, sat through 8 pop quizzes, and took a final practically asking me to regurgitate everything that happened in the class from day 1(from the colonial period to today). Dr. Klapper is very informationally oriented and the focus of her class is the content. I would not take her again.
Dr. Klapper has a reputation of being tough. She was throughout Methods, but she definitely knows what she is talking about. Even though it can be hard to balance her work with other classes, she will prepare you to be a better historical writer. She will challenge you and you will have the opportunity to prove her wrong. Don't give up.
Just don't
Dr. Klapper isn't as bad as everyone makes her seem. She expects a lot from her students but it will only make you a better student. Im gonna keep it real with you I don't study and I don't do the readings, but I am still managing to pass the class. She is pretty strict with having phones out and will take them if she sees you on it multiple times.
Professor Klapper isn't given enough credit. She is a very knowledgeable professor and expects her students to work for their grade (as any normal teacher would). The way she teaches her class makes discussions interesting, engaging, and not very notes heavy. She gives good feedback and will answer your questions.
This professor does not care about your success, and doesn't even try to get you there. She is hard, mean, and rude. She stands in front of the class and talks for an hour with no presentation. She does not care if you fail, and doesn't even try to help bring up your grade. She rarely gives A's or B's. Worst professor ever.
Very harsh grader, not helpful comments, would not take her again, be prepared to teach yourself, does not do power points.
Dr. Klapper does not care if you pass or fail, in fact she prefers if you fail because then she continues to think she is right and no one can outsmart her. Please do not take her for Honors America War to War. I had to read 8+ essays plus write 4 essays. She is an impossible grader and gives comments that aren't relevant. I had to beg for a B+ :(
Dr. Klapper is extremely knowledgeable in her field and does her best to impart that knowledge to her students. HOWEVER. The amount of work she expects from her students is off the charts. I learned a lot from her but it was not worth the stress of reading 100+ textbook pages per week, multiple novels, outside research, several papers, etc.
Klapper was a great professor. The class is difficult and you definitely have to work hard, but its not impossible. She does care for her students and was never mean or scary like other reviews claim. She knows what shes talking about and expects a lot from her students, but it was an amazing course and inspired me to minor in the subject.
Anyone on here who is claiming that Professor Klapper is a good teacher is not in the right mindset. She is very educated and knowledgeable, but the amount of work in her class in unbearable. Very strict grader, do not take her class.
Professor Klapper is extremely knowledgeable. I have taken her twice now and am only not taking her a third time because of conflicting class times. I have had her in a class of 4 and 10 and both times were enjoyable. There is a sufficient amount of reading but there always is with history courses. Her class is not unmanageable and worth taking.
During the first day of class, she outlined her technology policy and emphasized how phones had to be on silent and how she did not want to see them out either. During the second day of class, her phone went off twice... You know what was the worst part? IT WAS A FLIP PHONE. Can't make this up bruh. Finna pull up to class with a typewriter
Do not take this class if you are looking for an easy grade. Makes you read about 100 pages a week and gives at least one pop quiz a week. Impossible to get an A on anything in this class. Attendance is mandatory.
The most passive-agressive person ever. If there is any issue, she will always think she's right and is unwilling to express empathy. Sure, she's knowledgable, but with her attitude and poor attempt at care, it's worthless. Grades off of personal opinion and doesn't care if you struggle outside of class or have accomadations.
I learned plenty from Dr. Klapper's class. While the workload she gives is strenuous and sometimes stressful, it is usually worth its while. Some of the other reviews say that she does not leave great feedback on essays but I find that to be untrue. I minded her feedback and with each essay, my grade got higher. Her critiques were fair and thorough
She had way too many pop quizzes it was ridiculous. Questions aren't easy since they are vague and she expects a novel in 5 minutes. Tons of reading as well for the quizzes. I passed most of them so I'm not spiteful, but it was annoying and stressful. She's also very tough on attendance so I would choose your skip day wisely and not more than once
This professor makes you buy an insane amount of books that all say the same thing. She has an insane amount of readings you have to read and gives you pop quizzes almost every week. She grades terribly , She does not give good feedback and is just so boring. She gives no assistance to you and is old-fashioned so barley uses canvas.
It is clear Dr. Klapper knows what she is talking about, but her class is difficult. be prepared to read! participation matters. she is a pretty tough grader. Her class was super interesting but it was just a lot of work (reading and writing).
I learned a lot from this class, but my grade did not reflect the effort I put in. My papers were graded based on personal opinion on things such as word choice and phrasing. She is not helpful when you go to her for assistance and won't budge on your grade even if you try to work with her. I would not recommend her as a professor.
Klapper was the worst history professor I ever had at Rowan. She is unbelievably rigid. I took her H.Methods class in the fall. My child was having their first back to school night (K). I asked to leave early and she said no, saying that I have to be dedicated. She has no ability to see the needs of her students. She has a dismissive air about her.
SHE WON JEOPARDY HOW COULD YOU NOT LOVE HER!!!!! She is so smart and always knows what shes talking about, just ask the people she beat out in Jeopardy, I'm sure they'd agree!!
There is no doubt that Dr. Klapper is an excellent professor. To take her class you must be willing to show up, participate, read, and write. For a history professor and class that should not be asking much. I spent roughly 4 hours a week outside of class working on readings and papers. There are pop quizzes but if you read you will be fine.
I will give a fair warning: I wasn't excited about this class, but after having it with Professor Klapper, I regretted not dropping it when I could. I'll hand her this, she gives good feedback, but you have to have a strong passion to keep up with the workload. There are a ton of readings, so if you forget to read one time, good luck!
Had her a while ago, but she was very strict. I often felt my responses and work weren't good enough for her standards, no matter the amount of thought I put in. She makes you buy an unnecessary amount of books that essentially are the same in content, and piles on the homework like crazy. Do not fall behind, it'll be very hard to catch up.
She has way too much readings. She is passive aggressive and does not care about you or your personal life. She has never given over a 95 on any assignment. She's just not very personable and is too professional so the class feels extra stressful.
Though Professor Klapper is a tough grader and assigns a lot of readings, you still do not want to miss out on an opportunity to take one of her classes. She gives great feedback, is so knowledgeable and passionate about her subject, and works to ensure all viewpoints are respected in a discussion based class environment. AND SHE WAS ON JEOPARDY!!!
My worst professor so far. Forget everything you learned it's her way or no way. Stuck up, narcissistic. Can not talk to her about anything without being demeaned. Avoid her class at all cost unless you like stressing out to please a teacher, because the content doesn't even matter.
Dr. Klapper is one of the best professors. Her wealth of knowledge serves to enrich any discussion. In a discussion-heavy class like R & R, her wisdom and perspective are always a welcome addition. Dr. Klapper works hard to pick engaging material and is always open to her student's feedback. Do your work and you'll do great in her class. She rocks!
Dr. Klapper knows so much about children's history, I loved each lecture and the corresponding readings! She can see greatness in her students, so of course she expects the best. If you try hard and keep up with the workload, her class is great! She's willing to work with you if you have issues. She cares a lot about history AND her students! :D
05450 (hist. childhood). She is like a mother. She had high expectations, detailed grading, and highly educational on her subject. There is a couple books read, one is used all semester. Other books are used for papers. There were 2 papers, 1 annotated bibliography, pop quizzes, midterm, and final. 20ish pages to read before class & one test a week
