Easy easy class. Do some of the homework and answer a few questions in class and you'll get an A.
She brings passion and indepth knowledge to the classes she presents.
this class was the worst class ever, easy but if you want to learn something dont take it, all you do is watch tv and listen to her talk about unrelated things. she only knows about three things aids, domestic violence, and racism. and valentines monkeys

It was a wonderful class and a great experience for me personally and academically. She is a great teacher and really cares about the subject matter and her students. She has a lot of heart and her passion is contagious.
She is super nice, and any class with no tests is obviously easy.
Very nice, will answer questions but don't get alot out of class and subject matter. Would like to know more about subject instead of her personal views. Should teach another course instead of this one. Can't recommend even if easy.

it felt like she was off subject a lot. homework and tests are easy because she grades leniently. maybe too leniently.

Awful! Only cares about hearing her own opinions expressed. Don,t bother raising your hand because she'll ignore you! And I was always confused about assignments, when they were due and what was expected. Won't answer emails either. Awful!

Never responds emails. Unclear about the assignments and readings, ignored one student because she did not like what that student said. She also skips class meetings.

Offended me on a daily basis along with the majority of intelligent people in my class. Doesn't go over due dates of papers or even the papers for that matter. No test, which is easy. I honestly can't even tell you the point of this class, we've only learned her opinions of others. If you don't agree with her she looks at you like you are an idiot
ALWAYS 10 minutes late. She missed about 25% of classes. Requires students to cite sources of information for classroom discussions but doesn't herself cite references or is very vague. VERY unclear about due dates, requirements, and format for assignments. Doesn't follow her own syllabus. Grading is subjective. Learned nothing. Avoid.

Class is easy don't need to work hard BUT you need to show work and effort. There's 2-3 eassys, but one is a group essay. No test.
So far i really like her, shes nice and funny and her class is cool. as long as u read ur syllabus and dont slack off you will do good. I have learned alot so far!!
She was cool, didn't show up to class the last few weeks of school... but it was a nice break. She's funny- easy class, just show up, read your syllabus, and sit in the front!!!!!!! :) You will like her!

She is alright. Tons of reading though. No individual test, but a group midterm and final based on the books. We also have to keep a journal and do a paper but it was really easy...oh yeah a group presentation too...discussion was boring for me though....overall it a easy class since i think she is a easy grader.
I found this teacher to be extremely offensive on a daily basis, along with any other intelligent person in this class. Her goal is to belittle those who do not agree with her and she loves when people fail. The class is relatively easy but she is not a fair grader. I suggest not taking her class.
I didn't mind this class too much, but I lost a lot of respect for her when me and another student sent her an email asking the same questions about an assign. and she wrote back to the other student but not me. I prefer profs who treat students with equality. Avoid this class and teacher. There is a lot of work that is in no way helpful. Worthless
Really harsh grading
Very easy. Just attend the classes and pay attention. The exams was with groups and the final was also with groups. There's a lot of homework but do them cause they'll help your grades!
only good thing group final and midterm now the bad she pretty much sucks as a teacher her opinions are the right one so shes not openminded at all no use arguing with her she wont get it
She is very helpful and easy to approach. She takes forever in giving you back your papers, so you have no idea where you stand until it's too late! You do learn a lot though. She is good to have if you don't mind doing group work, but if you do, you might be in some trouble, she does a lot of group work.
She was okay, you had to read off your syllabus most of the time. there's alot of reading, like over 100 every week. her test are not multiple choice, but like 5 question.. you have to read or else, when she checks your book and you have no annotated notes inside, she will not let you use your book. She's rarely in class, always out sick or furloug
way too much emphasis on group work and not enough on individual work. she's very slow at returning assignments and updating grades. tough grader on papers!
Overall she's an ok teacher. The assignments are very lengthy and she is a tuff grader. Offers group exams but make sure you give lots of information and cite your resources. She gives assignments back late and it was somewhat difficult to understand what she expected to be turned in for each assignment. Try and keep up with the syllabus.
Awful teacher! Her class is basically based around her opinions on feminism and beware if your views don't match hers because she'll chew you out. Was not reliable at all. Half the time she wouldnt even show up so the scheduled assignments got all messed up. Group work is extremely annoying( I think she does it because she's lazy )AVOID!!!
This class was so annoying. She was never clear on assignments so we were always confused on what she wanted, and when we attempted to do so most likely its not what she wanted. She is very unreliable and hard to talk to. Avoid the class! I really disliked the semester i was in her class.

GREAT PROFESSOR; I recommend her. Her topics are very interesting and she is very friendly. Stay on top of your journals. Group projects are fun & the final is a take home :)
This teacher puts her personal life before her students. Her friend passed away a week before school ended, and i believe we have not received our grades yet because of it, and it is 3 days before deadline. The class was based off her opinion, and no one else could have a voice. She does group finals/projects, so watch who you pick for them.
the class itself was not hard, it was just assignments. her lectures are good but she is unclear on assignments & what she wants done. she was unorganized a lot & grades harshly. no one in my class never really knew what was going on or whether she was going to do a group project or not. i did everything for that class and still only received a "b"
This professor does not reply to any of your messages. She is really unorganized and she expects a lot from the students and grades harshly. The good thing about this professor is that she has really great topics to talk about which is only interesting part.
This teacher is smart, but she never gives you details of what she expects from you. She always cancels class, but expects you to do group work and online assignments when she does. The subject is interesting but she is very biased and doesn't lecture on a same thing twice. Do not recommend.
This teacher is a waste of an hour. She lectures her beliefs and won’t listen to anyone else’s opinion. There are 5 journal due dates Only took 4 entries to get 170 points. Midterm is a lot of work and you need to answer everything IN DEPTH!!! The final is a research about an organization which is easy but once again, IN DEPTH!!!
This class was a very interesting one. Majority of students that take this course forget that college courses aren't about assignment, test, assignment. Its lecture that matters. People get caught up in, "Her assignments are hard and unclear." Thats part of the learning experience, to think for once. Great professor, amazing lecture everyday.
Overall, she's a great teacher. She gives great lectures. The class was a little unclear and no one ever knew what was going on. However, if you do the work when you get it, even if it's late, and talk to her, she'll be very understanding. If you want to learn, take this class.
Okay, this class is an easy A... but dealing with Knight will make you want to pull your hair out. She is ALWAYS unclear and has a very black and white view on very controversial topics
This instructor is horrible, don't take her. She teach the class as if it's a women study class although the class is suppse to be about diversity.. She talks all throughout class which has nothing to do with the class syllabus.. the stupid syllabus is over 20 pages long and is worthless.
Great professor. Don't take her class if you don't want your ideas to be challenged. She doesn't soften the blow on what she sees as right or wrong and will explain why what she's saying is right if you actually ask. Cancels class a lot, and sometimes assignments are confusing, but she grades based on whether or not effort was put in. Take it!
So much for taking a class about diversity. Cancel Class frequently, forgot so show up on the our final day. Information overload!! Not a Bad teacher, just very disorganized. Seems passionate about the class or human issue but didn't learn anything about Diversity.
She is extremely rude and just mean. I made it through 3 lectures before she decided to openly mock me in front of everybody. Literally its the 2nd week of school and she singles me out for "smelling like smoke". In front of everybody she tells me "I smell awful" even though I have great hygiene. Ironic this is a class about diversity and tolerance
Incredibly unclear as to the assignments and the expectations for class. Extremely bias and impossible to talk, or discuss with. Uninterested in aiding students when struggling with concepts or assignments. Late to class FREQUENTLY. Goes off on tangents and wastes class time making it hard to understand reading. No idea how she got her job.
She's a little bit crazy, but in a good way. Her lectures are amazing, and I always left class trying to process the weight of the information she through at us. READ THE BOOK. It will help you and it is necessary, I promise. If you do whats on the syllabus, you will pass. Its unclear at first but just ask and she WILL explain. Don't smoke b4 class
Class began mid August, didn't get any work graded until Dec 1st. Miderm and final projects overlapped, poor planning. Missed a week and a half of class before deciding to e-mail the students, yet if students miss one day in a week they lose attendance for the week. 29 page syllabus remarkably unclear. Ridiculous grading, final is 40% Avoid
This woman should not be teaching. She is VERY unorganized and the students are the ones who pay. She makes up assignments along the way and waits for the absolute last minute to enter your final grade. This class was the worst class I have ever taken in my college career. If you really need to take this class find another professor.
This class was confusing (students are to rely on a 20 page syllabus as a guideline )but once you understand what is expected, it's an easy A. Knight does skip class but it is not canceled and is supposed to be used for group projects. If you want things organized, this class is not for you, but if you can handle the crazy, you will enjoy it.
Awesome! She really cares about students, diversity, and inclusion. I feel like having her as my professor not only helped me grow intellectually, but as a person.
Awful teacher, VERY sporadic and not clear. Gives a lot of assignments but never grades them, says she'll do something and never does it. Doesn't respond to emails and lectures past the time of class. Talks about the same thing ever lecture.

Respected her as a person and loved hearing her stories, but class was basically like therapy. Didn't learn much. Didn't follow the syllabus. Only had one major group project to be graded on. Rarely talked about readings. I skipped at least six classes since she rarely takes roll. Easy A, but if you're an organized person, she'll drive you nuts.
Dont bother buying the books or looking at the 28 pg syllabus bc she doesnt use either. Dont bother going to class either bc she repeats the same lecture for 2 mos. Instead of an email or BB notification she leaves a note on the board of where the class will take place that day (FYI commuters). NOT a good professor at all. Worst class in 4 yrs.
The most unorganized professor I have ever had- she did not show up for two weeks straight and did not send a single email. Do not bother with the textbook.
Melissa is a wonderful person, and certainly inspirational. As a professor- iffy. we never had a completed syllabus with due dates, and that was a bit unsettling towards the end of the semester when two (but the only assignments all semester) were due. Class got cancelled a lot, attendance not needed until she starts talking about assignments.

If you want an easy A and don't care how you get it, I would definitely recommend this class. She doesn't follow the syllabus, and you don't even need to show up to class or the books to pass. She really cares more about being optimistic and spreading positivity overall. No tests, quizzes, or homework was ever turned in. The final was also easy
AVOID HER CLASS! She's very unorganized, and does not fallow the syllabus nor the book. She talks about many different things that are not in the syllabus. She makes you get the books but don't use them at all. Also, she never says what's the homework but will ask for all assignments at end of the semester. Take this class with someone else.
Literally do nothing in class. Didn't show up for 2 months and passed with a A. Worse but easiest class by far. Take it if you want an American for doing nothing, she's unorganized if your organized or want to know your grade. She'll drive you crazy.
You can buy the books if you want, but you aren't gonna use it that much I would definitely rent my book though. You could miss a lot of days and still be on track. Just do everything that you know you will get graded on and you'll be fine.
One of the greatest people I met at Fresno state. Great teacher and you will pass just gotta do the work and participate. Learned a lot because she kept it interesting. Overall, great person inside and outside the classroom. Her goal is to see you succeed and she helped me a lot. Thank you.
She is one of the best professors at Fresno State. Dr. Knight isn't your typical instructor. She doesn't assignment meaningless assignments and tell you to turn them in. Every day you leave her class with more knowledge and insight that allows you to be a better you. She is a very powerful woman. She is full of enlightenment and optimism.
Love Dr. Knight! She allows you to grow in an holistic way. Don't worry about failing this class. Show up, converse, and engulfed in the material and a guarantee a rewarding experience. I learned so much on women in justice and how to navigate the system in relation to abuse.

She is very outgoing and very nice. However, she is very unorganized and never really checks homework. She is very unpredictable. She has only checked one midterm this entire semester. I never bought the textbook however the homework is from it. She may or may not collect notes at the end of the semester, it depends on her mood.

Very nice, respectful to others ideas but her work ethnic was not at the standards of a professor. She would come in late for class and was unprepared to give lectures. I basically only had to show for the final to pass. Easy A but would not take this class again.
Dr. Knight was rarely on time to class and would cancel class without notifying us sometimes. She could be rude, isn't very helpful and never replies to any emails. I did all my work and she still failed me. I wouldn't recommend taking her.
Dr. Knight was very unorganized. She was unpredictable, always late and cancelled class a lot without an email. She said she would post discussion boards for weekly discussions, but this wasn't done till the end of the semester. We had a group midterm and a final, no other exams. She says she'll do things,but usually forgets. Doesn't reply to email
She's not a hard grader and with all honesty if you talk to her she will definitely help you out. Many people complain about this class because they dont apply her lectures to the assignments which is a misunderstanding on their part not her fault. Remember to listen to understand AND learn, not listen to just learn. Very great professor.
Pr Knight is very unorganized you dont know your grade till the end of the semester. recommend taking notes of every discussion you guys have in class because at the end of the semester she puts up discussion board. I group project on a movie and a 4pg paper thats it. My 4pg paper was totally bs and I passed the class with an A. EASY A!!!!!
Insightful person overall, but wouldn't say she's a great professor. Really unorganized. Never really knew what to expect each class, but we never did much anyways. 1 group project for midterm & a final. Lots of BB journal assignments (that pile up at the end of the sem). Lots of annotated reading. Mostly busy work tbh. Class was an easy A.
She is super cool! I originally did not want to take WS but I'm glad I did. Not much work, group midterm and final on book review. Textbooks needed. Going to events outside of class is part of grade. Sometimes she goes off topic, but it is very interesting. 10/10 loved her class
Melissa is an amazing choice for Women's Studies. Wants you to be aware of your beauty and ability regardless of what the world has to say. Really down to earth and truly wants whats best for every one of her students. Every class is inspirational, and you learn something new each time.

I don't want to kick a gifted horse in the mouth because this class was an easy A and I used to skip it all the time. But sometimes I felt like I wasn't learning anything and she canceled class a lot. I would recommend her because her final and midterm were not too bad. She doesn't want to add stress into our lives, but you have to participate
Her lectures are interesting but she is VERY disorganized she is not specific on what essays should be. Make sure you write a reflection paper every week because she will not ask for it "every Friday" but instead will want them (16 total) at the end of the semester. There is also a self help book you will have to purchase and write a paper about.
I already regret signing up for this class. She is so unorganized and has to lectures that make sense, she promises everything she talks about relates but she goes off on SO MANY tangents I feel like we have not learned anything at all and makes us do volunteer stuff last minute without thinking of our personal lives and how busy we can get
One of the best professors Ive had here at Fresno State. She has an amazing way with words. However, the way she assigned homework wasnt too clear so take that into consideration. Attendance isnt too important after the first few weeks. Overall, very insightful professor.
Professor Knight is a really great professor with a lot of passion for women studies. However, the way she assigned homework was not clear. We did not do anything for this class, no hw or midterm. We got a new professor for the remainder of the semester since she went on a leave. Organization would of been nice.
I only took this class to fill a GE requirement but I was looking forward to actually learning about women studies, instead I got a very disorganized teacher who shows up less than her students. After cancelling class at least once a week, at one point it had been cancelled for about two weeks straight when we got an email saying she was on leave.
Showed up less than %50 of the time, often without any notification to the students at all. When she did show up to class she just ranted about her personal political beliefs and made no connections to critical thinking.
