She is absolutely amazing. No attendance but there are random discussions, mainly given on Fridays. If you're not good about coming to class, you won't do well. Her lectures are vital to doing well on tests and she relies very little on the text. In fact for a different course, she told us not to even buy the book!

she made this class a lot more difficult than it had to be. she taught one thing but tested another. the tests were mostly statistics-based. she teaches right out of the book. attendance is technically not mandatory, but she has class discussions that add up to equal a test grade and often does two or more in a row. this class lowered my gpa.

The class was pretty easy overall. The tests weren't all that easy, but they were open note, open book. The class discussion added up to a test grade, so if you go to class you get an easy 100 test grade. Read the book before the test. She was a good teacher, you just have to go to class to do good, which some people didn't want to do.

this professor was absolutely horrible! this is my major and i am very passionate about any chfd classes but she is the worst. If you don't go to class your grade will suffer bc more than likely you will miss more than two of the "discussions" like I did. You would be suprised how hard open book open note tests are when they are based on random statistics from class. Class was really enjoyable though, I thought the material was great and LP makes great effort to entertain

Great teacher! The class is pretty easy. you have to come to class to get the notes and participate in discussions. As long as you take detailed notes during class, preferably on a laptop, the tests are really easy too. I didnt read the book and I got an A on all the tests. Just need to pay attention and she keeps things interesting Loved the class

This class is easy to get an A in if you make sure to go to class- the discussions are random and only one of them gets "thrown out." Take notes on all of the statistics b/c that is a majority of the questions. Don't take it for granted that the tests are open note/book b/c there is a time limit on the test and the questions are detailed.

I made the mistake of not attending every class, which can be a mistake, so make sure you go to every class to get her notes. While reading the book is helpful, tests are more focused on her notes. The tests are a little harder than I expected so study!

Dr. Landers-Potts is a very nice woman, but for an upper level course, hers is... lacking. For tests, it's hard to study because she pulls very heavily from random statistics from her notes. The text book is not required. Repeats a lot from her lower level courses. I don't feel like I learned anything. She's probably a better lower level teacher.

I would probably agree with the person who said she is a fantastic and informative lower level teacher. As an upper level teacher, she repeats herself a lot. Ive taken a few of her classes because I am an HDFS major. Shes a good teacher. Her tests are hard. You need to know all of the small details and memorize all statistics and graphs that we go over in class to do well on them. Assignments are annoying and time consuming . None of her classes are easy A classes.

Dr. L-P is one of my fav prof's here! I've had two of her classes now, and her dedication and passion for the topics she teaches is evident from the first day to the last. Go to class (in class assignments) and write down what she says in class and leave room to fill in the rest of your notes from the ppts later (she posts them). Lecture>textbook
