This is a very difficult class but i think is the best prof you could get. Tests are 100 Qs and detailed but not tricky. MUST STUDY for exams at least 2 days before. Passionate about her work, willing to answer Qs and cater to class' needs. Gives extra credit. Lab is easier. You can print out all her notes and flashcards = how you make an A.

Most helpful professor ever! She makes flashcards that you can print out and they are very helpful on the tests. Online lectures are a drag but they do help. Must study for this class! The class goes over a lot of material very fast! But she is willing to go over things you didn't get the first time! Highly recommend her! Sweet lady!

Ms. layton was the best teacher I will ever have, truly does everything possible for students to succeed in the class. The class itself is really hard, but she makes it as easy as possible. Bring snacks on exam days and gives stickers on papers for making an A. She's super awesome and I DEF recommend everyone to take her. I LOVE HER!!!!

GREATEST PROFFESOR EVER. She clearly loves the subject and her students. She even buys the entire class food before every test, I'm talking fresh fruit, iced coffee, etc.. She creates outlines so you don't have to buy the book. I had to put in time to get an A but it is completely doable, and I don't even like science classes.

This woman has a tough job and provides an amazing ability to juggle her current and previous students needs. There is nothing bad I can say about her. She provides an excellent lecture that stand true to the exam. She knows her stuff on the subject and does a great job relating it to her students. NOT easy if you don't take notes or pay attention.

She is an awesome professor. Super nice and will provide snacks on the days we have tests or tests reviews, BUT her class is HARD!! She has 100 question tests that gets me every time. Luckily she does give extra credit, but I am still struggling just to make a C.

Lecture notes are what the exams are over and she posts study guides. You have to read sometimes but it is not bad. Definitely not a blow off class and you have to work for your grade but she was a great prof.

Prof Layton was amazing for Biology 1408. There is a lot of information covered in class, but if you keep up with it and study along the way the test shouldn't be hard for you. She truly does love biology and wants to help you understand it too! You don't have to read, but you do have to make flashcards to study for the tests.

She's very nice and well respected but her class is very hard. I wouldn't recommend it for your first choice

She's a sweetheart, gives away food, always helps if asked BUT there's a lot of work! Because hers tests are all 100 questions and difficult, she offers make-up points which will get you by but her lectures are very fast pace- the amount of information she covers in 5 minutes is dense. Be sure to check grades she enters, she has a lot of grading

Layton is really sweet, but you have to be able to memorize easily. The whole class is memorization of the lectures. The exams are literally the lecture information reworded. As long as you memorize the ENTIRE packet and do the ONLINE REVIEWS FRO EACH EXAM, the unit test and final will be easy. The final is best studied by the unit exam reviews.

Very great teacher. Her lectures were fast paced but had detailed information to pass the class. She brought food on test days. Very nice person and really cares about her students. Go to class everyday because practicals are hard if you didn't go to the lab.

Best Prof I've ever had hands down! She really wants you to succeed. I got an 87 with a decent amount of effort. There is one short online homework assignment after each lecture and you can keep checking your answer before you submit it so youre going to get a 100. If you show interest she'll do anything to help you! Very good lectures!

Ms. Layton is one of my favorite profs i've had yet! every class is a lecture and then a quiz at the end but its a group quiz and you can use notes and your phone. the tests are hard (100 questions) but there's always bonus! She also gives the option to push the test to the next class period. you can stop by her office when shes there or text her

She talks really fast during her lectures but other than that she's amazing. Test are hard but there's always make-up points and bonus. Definitely recommend!

Professor Layton is the only reason Bio lab was enjoyable for me. Actual class can be a little difficult. Total of 21 labs, not too bad, if you have a good group you can get them done in class. Four practicals, last two are easier than the first two. No final, just a reflection paper. Paper took me an hour to write, super easy. Super caring prof!!

The first half of the semester is definitely the most dense, and can bring your grade down early on. Go over he lecture outlines and start the review early and you should make it out okay. Theres a group project at the end that was pretty easy and can help bring up your grade. Final is pretty broad, study using past reviews.

Layton was one of my favorite prof at blinn. Biology is a hard subject to begin with, but her lectures are clear and thorough! Tests can be hard, but if you put in the time to study the PRE-OUTLINED NOTES she gives you you will pass. Lots of extra credit which I loved and always available for questions. This class took a lot of hard work and commitment. I did get an A in this class but I had to STUDY all the time. There are 4 tests and she provides extra credit for each test. However, she takes a very long time to grade things and she never finishes her lectures. She forgets to post things sometimes. She is good but this is a difficult class.

No clue why this teacher isnt a 5. For an anatomy class she makes it SO doable. People get onto her for having long reviews but they are so specific and tell you everything you need to know. Know them and you will get an A. There are a lot of homework and labs but they all have unlimited trys so you get 4 units 100 homework grades. LOVE HER!!

Professor Layton was one of the best professors ive had at Blinn, she is so caring and goes the extra mile for her students. She gives lots of homework online but it helps a lot with studying for labs, she will also reopen things to study if you ask her.

This is just a hard class on its own but prof Layton tries to help you out with extra points on homework and tests. If you don't study for tests you won't pass. Its alot of memorization but if you memorize her reviews that she gives you should be just fine. Her lectures aren't boring and is a sweet lady.

Mrs. Layton is an AMAZING teacher. She is very kind and caring. I took her class the summer 1 session for A&P 1. It was hard, but since I studied hard and paid attention in class I made it out alive! It was hard but worth it. She also gave us extra credits and extra practice sheets to help us on the exam. Passionate and great. Highly recommend!

This class requires a lot of reading and memorizing. Professor Layton's lectures are clear and easy to understand. There is a lot of material, but if you pay attention and do your work, you'll do well. She offers a lot of make-up points in case you don't get an assignment (or two) done, but not a lot of extra credit. I would happily take her again.

I took Professor Layton for A&P I during the summer. It was tough class because it was so condensed, but she made it totally do-able! The homework is a lot but helps on the tests. She also offers so much extra credit to help her students. She lets you text her and always responds within the hour. I wish I could take her again for A&P II!

I took her online class in the summer and it covered a lot of material, but the weekly checklists she provided helped a lot. If you take her summer class you wont have too much free time though. If you have to take a&p take her!

Professor Layton is super awesome! She always got back to me quickly, she offers a fair deal of extra credit, and she truly cares about her students. The weekly checklists she makes for organization SAVED my life! This class was super time consuming as a summer 1 course, but if you complete and study the test reviews you can make an A.

She gives a lot of homework assignments but they are so helpful and make it easier to learn things and they are all due the day of the test. Ms. Layton is VERY CARING! My sister had a baby in the middle of the semester and I told prof. Layton. She even gave a gift! However, I did fail the class. BIOL is not my subject AT ALL. I have A's in every class on my transcript except for BIOL 2401. I changed my major and so glad I did. If science is your subject take her she is great!

The nicest lady ever!!! I took her for zoology last semester and again this semester for a&p. She is understanding and will push back exams if the class does not feel prepared, and keeps in mind that students have other classes. The tests were very hard for me and each review was about 20 pages long, but she will do everything she can to help.

I cannot say enough great things. She was genuinely so sweet and caring toward her students (especially during covid). If even 1 student did not feel prepared for an exam she would push back the deadline. I did not even have her for A&P1, but upon finding out I was taking the course she shared her own material and study tips with me. Loved her!

Favorite prof!! I wish I could take her for A&P2. If your considering taking her DO IT. She truly cares for her students and you can see it. She gives extra credit and answers super fast to any questions you have. It was the most difficult class Ive taken yet but if you put in the work its definitely doable. Recommend her 100%

She was by far one of the best teachers I've had. For each lecture and lab test she gives mock exams which help so much, and they are also worth extra credit. She cares so much for her students, and is always willing to help you. She even moved a few tests around because we felt like we weren't fully ready. Best teacher ever!!!!!

Professor Layton was amazing! I had her for zoology and I enjoyed every bit of it. My advice to succeed in this class is to take advantage of her reviews, do her mock exams, and mostly watch her lectures. She really wants you to succeed in this course and you can tell because she makes herself available outside the classroom every day!

Layton is by far the best Anatomy 1 professor! Her structure for the class is great, with the only downside being those SmartBook assignments. There can be a lot and they do take a while sometimes, so don't wait till the last moment. Make sure you take advantage of the reviews for the exams, THEY HELP! Otherwise Layton is a great professor!!

Professor Layton had great lectures & fun stories/pictures sprinkled in that help to remember information. She's available and cares about students. The material is hard, but she has recorded lecture videos available to go back through if needed with power points. She is flexible on when assignments are due, but don't let them accumulate.

She wants everyone to do well and pass the class. Expect A LOT of homework but if you do it it will help your grade tremendously. She gives you the opportunity for extra credit and extensions on deadlines, the class is very time consuming and tedious so I recommend you go to every class even though attendance isn't mandatory.

Biology is a harder class as is but professor Layton made it as easy as possible. She thoroughly explained everything & gave study guides for every test. got a 100 in this class & this is the only class I have ever been able to make a 100 in. she is very relatable & understanding & I would recommend her a million times over absolutely love her.

Professor Layton is an amazing prof! You can tell she cares about her students and loves what she does. Her tests are a little difficult, but she makes you take mock exams before to prepare you, and she gives you opportunities to bring your grade up throughout the semester. Took prof. Layton for 1413 and she was amazing and so nice! Each unit has a lab and lecture exam but they are just like the mock exams so make sure you do those. HW was hard but could do it until you got a 100. Overall, this class was pretty easy for it being a biology class. Had an A throughout the semester until the final exam, ended with a B+

LOVE HER!! She makes A&P so easy! I was scared to take this class, esp. when she told us 80% of our grade comes from exams, but she is such a fantastic professor that making an A is not hard at all! Professor Layton looks out for her students. If you're having trouble with the course or life gets in the way, she is more than willing to work with you to figure things out. Attendance is required (it affects your grade), but the amount you learn from the lectures makes it worth it. Would absolutely take again.

Your biggest mistake in life would be not taking prof Layton for A&P 1. She's an amazing, understanding, great prof. She knows how to lecture and she makes sure to bring up past topics so it stays in your brain. A lot of HW, but it helps so much. Her mock exams are EXACTLY like the exams so do them 10 times before each exam and you're golden.

Melisa is a good professor, I took her bio for non science majors course. If you need to take any science courses that she is offering a class in, take her class.

I love her! I ended w a 97. Her class is hard & hw piles up but if you put the work in it you'll be ok, mock exams aren't exactly the exam but it helps & gives bonus points. She tries to relate things to real-world examples in lectures and it does help a lot. If you struggle on exams, there are a lot of 100s in the gradebook from hw and attendance.

Such a great professor. Mock exams are just like exams, and she gives the opportunity to get +5 on exams. Homework is easy. It's Mcgraw Hill, so everyone gets a hundred for completion. I took the 8-week and was not that hard, but was kind of stressful. I did the mock exams, studied for an extra hour or two days before, and ended with a high A.

LOVED this class! It is a ton of info but she gives plenty of resources to help prepare for exams and gives extra credit. You definitely have to be on top of the information because it can pile up fast, but it is definitely doable. I enjoyed her lectures as well. Lab portion was also rather easy!

I highly recommend reading the textbook for information for tests/assigments. She provides guided notes for lectures and extra resources. She extended some due dates, provides some extra credit, and replaces lowest test grade w final. Class was very engaging and interesting. READ YOUR TEXTBOOK (I know it's a pain but it is so worth it).

Professor Layton is amazing if you are more of a slower learner she is for you 100%. She does due participation credit so showing up is important, exams are open for a week. Study guides are so alike to the exam. I would take her every time she is one of the most patient teachers and truly cares for her students. I would just say TAKEE HER!!

Provides so much review for exams and questions are similar. On my first exam I soley relied on reviews which isn't the best option because the content is the same but you still need to understand content. Thankfully she replaces your lowest exam grade with final grade so I was fine. Overall really nice and caring. Points for attendance so show up

BIO 1407--I loved Professor Layton!! Biology is definitely a hard class and requires lots of studying. This class is just a lot of memorization in my opinion but her mock exams help a lot for the actual exams. She gives lots of extra credit. Study, show up to class, participate, and you'll be fine.

Make sure you show up to class. Most grades are just participation basically.

You can tell she is knowledgeable about the subject and can teach it in an easy-to-understand way. I normally don't enjoy taking science courses, but with Prof Layton, the material felt easy to grasp, and I did better in the course than I thought I would. Any homework assignment was a guaranteed 100 if you did it and helped balance out test scores.

She assigned lab groups of 4 at the beginning of the semester. She explains the lab with a brief lecture at the beginning of class, and is present and accessible for help. She sometimes would join in on our casual conversation and it encouraged a good classroom atmosphere in the lab. Pay attention, you'll do fine. Professor is a ray of sunshine!
