she is easy going, and knows how to get you very interested in the class. but she can also piss you off when she cancels class.

She was very well versed on the material and she helped to bridge the gap between the material and real life issues. Her teaching method using group discussions in class helped us to bring it full circle while out of class. This managed to keep the class interesting and this is where and when we could truly relate to the material.

Everyone in class loved her. So flexible and really easy to have great class conversations. Would take another class from her in a heartbeat.

I took this classed cuz i had a good experience with Forensic teacher back in High sc hool. Professor Melisa is the best! she very laid back and down to earth ! Her class was fun, and very straightforward. Book is need, but there is a PDF version online if you know how to find it. CW HW MT FE are not hard. Time is on your side :)

Professor MacDonald is such a great Professor! Loved that she was very laid back and had such a great sense of humor. Her lectures are far from boring and there are a lot of group discussions in her class. Grade mostly consists of Midterm, Final exam, one essay paper, and class participation. Easy A as long as you show up and complete assignments.

You kind of walk into this class not really knowing what to expect or kind of on guard because there are some subjects that are tough to get into however, Ms MacDonald creates a safe space with her students where everyone is welcome to conversate their opinions and feelings! Really enjoyed this semester.

Prof. MacDonald had lectures/class discussions that encouraged lots of participation, but was good about getting most of the class to voice an opinion. While the course work wasnt too difficult, she did not shy away from uncomfortable topics during class. Many discussion boards.

I was in fact fascinated by Professor Melissa's teaching style because for one I've never had a teacher that could every single topic understandable and able relate in a way that clearly shows her ability to convey the material clearly and actually have conversations with us students. I would be delighted to have her again as a teacher.

It was my favorite class I have taken so far. I had an injury at the very beginning of semester and she was very understanding and accommodating so I could continue the class. She was very fair in grading and especially in discussions with opposing views. Class discussions were excellent way to communicate social issues and always felt comfortable

I love her class. She did cancel class a good amount times during the semester. She's super flexible and understanding, if you need an extension she will 100% give it to you if you let her know before the deadline. Her work isn't hard but it needs to get done for you to get a good grade. She's a very openminded person!

She's the best. The things that we learn from her teaching is pretty awesome. She just shows you a whole new perspective of life. She doesn't give too much work, but we do watch a lot of movies/videos. We do lots of group talking. She has canceled class a good amount of times.

She is a really warm person, and her quizzes are easy. However, we only had three in-person classes during the semester and two optional online classes.Some students found it challenging to get help with homework questions. I would say this class leans more toward self-learning rather than learning directly from the professor.

I was very happy with my experience with Prof. MacDonald. Her class is heavily discussion based, but there is no pressure to participate. All assignments are online and quizzes are open-book. If you pay attention in class, you will have no problem with the work. She was always very helpful and supportive, and I learned a lot from her class.

It's rare for me to say this, but she is an absolute angel on Earth. Heavy discussion based class. She makes Sociology very easy to explain (which many professors do not!). Classwork is both in person, and on online platforms. I only wished she used a little more textbooks or visual aides and platforms, but she is an amazing, amazing professor.

I am grateful to have been blindly paired with Melissa MacDonald as my Sociology 101 professor, as you never truly know half the time with BHCC. I came out with the shortest stick as the winner of that grab bag with a professor who cares, takes time for her students, and dedicates her life to her passion. Anyone would be lucky to be taught by her.

Professor MacDonald was very caring and funny professor and I would definitely take another class with her. During class her lectures often turned into discussions. In terms of work every week there will be a discussion post and an individual written assignment due on Sundays. There is a final project but no midterm or exams. Amazing professor.
