She is way too uptight.
Very good teacher. She clearly explains everything and is more than willing to help you if you need it. Her tests are also well put together and not too hard.
She is a WAY good teacher! Take her!
I thought I hated math but her 95/ 96-98 series was great. It is my favorite class.
Hasham for precalc was an alright teacher but her tests were hard, and she didnt give us any slack. she graded hard mainly no partial points. i did ALL the homework, but failed her tests and withdrew from the class..
I took her for Math 98.She was nice but when it came to teaching she was too fast and boring usually. She was strict you could not even ask someone next to you for help or work with them. You had to be quiet all the time.I felt at sometimes she choose students as favorites and helped them pass the class more.Homework Okay. Quizes and Exams difficult.
Melissa is a great instructor. Very smart and teaches very well. Lots of note writing, but explains things well.
She is the best math teacher i have ever had...i plan on taking her next semester as well!!! i actually dont hate math anymore
One of the best math professors I've ever had.
She is great. People say she goes fast but she will explain things if you just ask or look at her funny. Her tests aren't hard unless you don't do your homework, which she doesn't collect so a lot of people slacked.
good teacher, explains everthing very clearly. Would reccomend her to everyone!
Great teacher, explained things clearly and concisely. I withdrew from the class only because I couldn't afford it at the time, but I would take this teacher again.
She is an amazing teacher! None of my other math teachers ever helped me understand things the way she did! If you don't do your homework in this class i guarantee you will fail though.. because she doesn't grade the homework at all only tests and quizzes are graded but she drops your lowest quiz! I recommend her, she's good:)
Great teacher, she is helpful and is also willing to work with you. I would recommend her to anyone that is taking a math class.
This was an online class. Ms. Hasham was very helpful and very responsive to email questions. Also, she made time outside of her regular office hours to address questions that I had. Great class and great instructor.
Hasham was a good teacher. I had her for math 96, 97 and 98. I like how oraganized she is and she goes over every step in the math problems. She is horrible about taking points off on tests though. You make a tiny mistake and she takes of more points than i thought was necessary. Also, I heard she is a lot harder once you get past the 90's series.
Hasham is crystal clear in her teaching. Her notes are super helpful and she makes math soo much easier and understandable. Hands down THE best math teacher you could ask for!
Melissa goes above and beyond what most teachers will. She bought a web cam and posted videos of her going over problems which is SUPER helpful in an online class. She didnt HAVE to do that but did to help her students. She is the best teacher Ive had at CBC
Melissa is one of the best math teachers there are out there. If you do not understand math she will be able to teach it to you.
Very good at what she does
Awesome!
Very helpful and kind. Love the way she teaches Math.
Took Melissa fir 96 and now 97. Love her! Very helpful and she's kinda a geek. She looks younger than she is. :) She is very helpful. Try not to miss a day because she will go strait onto the next section. Class is strictly graded on quiz's and tests.
By far the BEST math instructor I've ever had. She loves what she does and that is why she is so good at it. If you keep up with ur hw and never miss a day there's no reason why u should get below a 2.0. I love how her class is so structured & efficient. She is also very kind&entertaining. She is very helpful, whenever u need her u can go to her :)
Most extremely nice, caring, reliable teacher ever! And she teaches really clearly! Goes back if you need help. Do your hw, come to class and you are gauranteed an A for the class... no joke
A jewel of an instructor. She is one of the few instructors at CBC worth their wage. She's tough but in a way that makes everything effortless for the student in the end if you pay attention and ask for help if you need it. She goes out of her way to help anyone who needs it.
One of my two favorites at CBC, and I hate math! If I had her for every math class I've had I'd be set. Very clear teaching, very enthusiastic about what she does, very friendly and reasonable. She didn't require homework or attendence but you really need to pay close attention to the lectures and keep up the pace. Highly highly recommended.
Melissa was one of the most helpful teachers I've ever had. I went into her class despising all things having to do with math, and I had NO idea what I was doing, but by the end of the quarter, I could spout out correct answers without even thinking about it. I enjoyed her class immensely. She is very clear in her instruction.
took online precalc and she was very willing to meet with you and help. Only downfall is she grades tests extrememly hard. Felt like a couple of times she docked points just so no one would ace her tests. Other than that shes really good and I would reccomend taking her class.
melissa is a very organize and helpful instructor, that knows just how to teach her material well. I've had been dogging math98 for 3yrs, but thanks to my wife for recommending melissa, i'm no longer scared of attending the class because of this great instructor and her awesome teaching skills.
Online Class. This class is very hard online. Many hours of self-teaching. You can email questions. Lots of homework. I can honestly say that taking this class online will lower your gpa for the class a whole point. As is 3.7 becomes 2.7. If your are on the cusp of a 2.0 math student i would recommend not taking it online.
Professor Hasham is a decent teacher. She explains concepts in ways people can understand, but her grading is too harsh. You make one tiny mistake on a tests and your points will exponentially decrease. Also, she doesn't grade homework, which kills your grade.
Good teacher if you follow her rules and she is really good at explaining problems into ways that you would understand
i took her for pre-calc, she's an overall average teacher, bubbly, happy...etc. if you think outside the box and don't answer questions her exact way that she wants them, you're wrong. Doesn't matter if you're right and show step by step, if you don't learn her EXACT style, you will score low.
Taking her now and she is really knows what she's talking about. She knows how to explain it to where it sticks to your brain. Make sure you do your homework everyday because that helps with quizzes and tests. Homework is not grade. Attendance is not mandatory, but you will be lost if you don't go to class. Overall, she's a great professor!!!
If you want to fail take her! such a hard grader. I felt like she just wanted to see her students fail. she would laugh when we didn't know an answer. She's good at teaching the material, but just when you think you did good, think again cuz she probably found something to mark wrong on your quiz or test. ur grade is based only on quizzes/tests
I took Melissa for 96 and 98. Easily the best math teacher I've ever had! Approachable, very friendly, and a little nerdy. Her teaching style is very clear and she takes homework questions at the beginning of every class. Doesn't check homework, but you need to do it in order to pass quizzes/tests. Lowest quiz score is dropped.
My favorite math class taken so far.
I have always been a pretty good math student, but not after taking this class. The quizes(generally 5 questions)and tests make up your grade, so if you miss a few questions it changes your overall grade. Many, many hours spent on homework and it barely affects your score which is disappointing.
She is very helpful, will work with you on something until you get it. I would take any math class with her.
Don't take this class if you work a lot outside of class.I managed doing homework that is not collected(which you should do. You seem to be doing ok but end up failing. She explains things very well and makes you feel good about the material. Had a great feeling that I'd pass, but didn't. Make sure to always calculate your grade.
I took her class online which I regret, pre calc is hard to begin with and you have to teach yourself everything. There are 4 exams throughout the qtr and those are worth more than anything and she grades them very hard. The highest score I got on an exam was a 70/100. I failed this class. I wouldn't take this class uless youre really good at math.
Extremely clear with the lectures and homework was not graded but very helpful and helps you understand the next lecture. Very funny lady, and really nerdy, but nerdy cool. You can tell she loves math, talks about the history of math. I would take her class again in a heartbeat.
Melissa is great, very knowledgeable, and can figure out what you did wrong on a problem within seconds.
Taking math online probly wasn't the best idea but it was made even worse by the fact that she only used instructional videos from an unknown teacher on MyMathLab and didn't know what was being taught. Also math must be done her way or the highway.
She doesn't post your grades anywhere, so you go through the whole quarter having no idea what your grade is! She doesn't grade homework, but once the tests come, if you know a different way to do a problem you'll most likely get docked points because that's not how she taught you.
One of my favorite math professors. Melissa knows exactly what she's talking about, and exactly how to explain it so the entire class understands it. She can be strict, but she's super nice if you're showing up to class on time and putting effort into learning the material.
I loved her class! She explains math very well and makes learning math so easy! She gives enough examples to make the material clear. She doesn't take attendance however, its very easy to fall behind so don't skip! She's an amazing professor!
She was a great professor to take math online with She was very helpful If you had trouble with a problem she would always help She also had a youtube channel that shows how to do certain Homework problems Of course online is mainly you teaching yourself the material, but as long as you do that and stay on track you will do great Expect homework
I regrettably ended up taking her online course. Her YouTube channel which she posts some problems on is the only positive thing that I can say about her. She is rude with her email correspondence and I have gotten A's throughout math my whole life, but with her I STRUGGLED to get a C. You need to solve every problem her way, or else zero credit
I took 107 with her online this summer, and I am not a huge fan. Her tests are difficult and she grades them tough. If you work for it, you'll pass, but if you don't have your life to dedicate to it don't expect an easy A.
i recommend anyone taking math to take Professor Melissa Hasham, she takes time to teach each and everyone of her students, makes sure everyone understand what she is teaching, and most important her lectures are very easy to follow.
Do not take her! Worst math teacher of my life.
It is hard to say if Melissa is a bad teacher or if I am a bad student (most probably bad student) but I did find her class quite challenging. She taught the class as if teaching to people who already knew the material, and asking for help was embarrassing at most. Yes, I will recommend Melissa but watch her Youtube videos at home for practice.
I took math 96 & 97 with Melissa and she is a wonderful teacher. Very approachable and helpful. Doesn't collect homework so tests and quizzes make up your grade. The quizzes are usually five questions and tests around 20. Do your homework because test and quiz questions come directly from there. If you struggle with math, take her classes!
She was very helpful. She reviewed my exams with me and helped me figure out what I did wrong.
This is the worst math class I have ever taken. The only grades you get are on tests, so there is no homework credit to keep your grade up. She does not help you review for exams (save for a few problems on the board the day before), and her tests are full of the difficult questions from the book, rather than questions covering a basic concept.
DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS FROM HER! She doesn't teach she writes and solves problems on the bored giving little to no explanation of how to do them. She doesn't grade any homework and is super tough on grading tests she's useless when it comes to asking for help or finding out what you did wrong on ever missed test question she put a ? And never helped
Professor Hasham was excellent. As far as online math classes go, they can be a little more challenging. She posts YouTube videos of homework problems, and she will do any you'd like on her channel if you email her. It's a great help! I emailed her a few questions and she responded quickly and was very helpful. She was very sweet :)
She has a wonderful personality and seems to enjoy her job.
She seems nice but she is very unclear and so fast paced. If you don't understand something she kinda expects you to learn it from one explanation(which if you're not good at math you won't)her tests are hard and have no multiple choice. You will get a lot of homework every night but she doesn't even collect it. Your grade is just test and quizzes
Melissa Hasham was the best math professor I ever took at CBC. She gives homework but she does not collect it. It helps to do it because she answers any questions you have and they are similar problems in the quizzes and exams. She makes students understand math better and I took her for math 94 as well. I would retake her again if I could.
Melissa is overall a great professor. She is very helpful, if you do not understand something in her online course, she breaks down the problem for you on her youtube channel. The only thing I did not enjoy about this class was how fast paced everything was, it was very hard for me to retain so much material all at once.
Ms Hasham has been one of my favorite math teachers I've ever had. I don't understand why people said she was unclear in teaching or that she grades very tough. She explains thoroughly and gives points on exams/quizzes if you show your work. She cares about students and their health. She makes learning math fun and I've never hated going to class.
Melissa is a very nice lady overall. However, I would not take her class again. She is too fast paced, and the teaching is unclear. As hard as I studied and tried to do lots of homework and review for the exams, I could never seem to score a passing grade. I really regret taking this class.
I took her online class, math 96. The homework is mandatory, and is pretty simple and self explanatory. The on campus tests are nothing like the homework. Literally almost everything on the test was different from the homework. Very disappointed.
I took online math 96 with Melissa. She makes amazing youtube videos. I watch them now, event hough I'm in math94 with a different instructor. I appreciate her teaching style, she explains concepts well, doesn't over complicate things and will be available to you if you communicate the desire for help. She's efficient.
I found her fast pasted and not clear on instructions. She doesn't collect homework. She moves very fast and doesn't give much room for questions or reviewing problems. her peanut butter/jelly sandwich references make no sense and are confusing. I found YouTube videos to be of better use.
Melissa Hasham deserves my review. Not just a good professor but wonderful person. I took Melissa Hashams math 96 class and witnessed how much she genuinely enjoyed math and teaching it. The way she makes you feel whether you answer a question correctly or incorrectly is a skill all teachers should have; I felt proud and encouraged respectively.
I took Math 141 online with her so I didn't get to experience any lectures but all I can say is her tests are very difficult. So is the amount of homework, and timed online quizzes she required. When I went in to school for her exams, I never had enough time to finish them. They also were not similar to the practice exams she gave us.
I took the online class. The book is only used if you use it. The online quizzes are complicated and short (40 min, 6-7 questions long). The grade curve is based on the quizzes and tests. The homework doesn't match the tests. It is extremely difficult and explained poorly. She refers to her YOUTUBE channel if you ask for help. Overall a FAIL!
Melissa may seem dry at first but she is straight forward and gets down to the point while cracking a joke or two. She always gives opportunities to ask questions and breaks everything down, and organized. Although, the only thing you are graded on is quizzes and tests, you get homework but it's optional. She's really good if math isn't your thing
Melissa is one of the best professors I've had at CBC. I am not very good at math and was nervous about passing any math class but she explains every concept thoroughly and will answer any question you have. She can always explain why we do something in a way that makes sense and never says to "just do it" without first explaining the reasoning.
She is a great professor. She has slow lectures, and that helped me to really understand the material, and she also helped me with my fear of math and math classes. She first explains things in a very "textbook" way, but if needed she is great at providing different explantations as well. There aren't a lot of things graded however, hw is needed.
Is worried about finishing her lectures, not if you understand the material.
I took her class online, lots of homework, test were hard. I would meet up with her for help but had no good feed back at all and didn't really explain things.
Melissa is a great teacher. Her online lectures make me feel like I am in a classroom with her. Very well explained. Take her, you won't regret it.
Melissa is the best math teacher I have ever had. She is thorough and concise. She is also very kind and patient. I wish I could have her for my next class but she isn't teaching it next quarter. :(
She cares! She has a youtube channel and panopto records all of her lectures. She's also funny. Wish I could take her for math every quarter. The work was hard, but it was worth it. She uses quizzes and then exams after every few chapters.
This is the third time I have taken this class and I'm finally going to pass it! It's been so hard to understand until now. Somehow I understand professor McNickle. I'm so happy! Finally through this class.
If math is not something you are good at, don't take this class. Trust me, I took the class because of the good reviews, but regret it big time. If you decide to take the class, you will want to make sure nothing gets in the way of completing homework or studying for the difficult exams. You will be marked for even the smallest errors.
Great instructor. I really learned a lot from her and I feel prepared for 142.
She may be a great profession that others may learn off, however I was not one of them. She was hard to understand on what she wanted done in lectures. Quizzes were not based off homework assignments. Homework assignment on My Math lab and some were difficult to understand. I would get confused when she would try to explain problems to me.
Melissa is awesome. I had her two quarters in a row and she helped really helped me to feel comfortable with the math. She'll work with you on your math anxiety if you ask her. She really knows what she's doing with that.
Great teacher. Very thorough and easy to understand. Wish I had been able to have her for my algebra classes. Would have saved me some headaches.
Excellent instructor. If you don't get math she is the one to take.
I really liked her. She was clear and could explain things in different ways if you didn't get it the first time. She seems to enjoy teaching math which is great cause it helped me to like it better. Which is saying something cause I usually hate math.
She is the best math teacher I have ever had. She knows just how to explain it to get it to click in your brain. Tests are hard but the reviews are very helpful so don't miss those. Graded on just quizzes and exams, but she does make time everyday for answering homework questions from the nite before.
Excellent instructor. She has lectures recorded for us which helps a great deal. I'd take her for my next class but she isn't teaching it. :(
she is a good teacher but she was confusing because MyMathLab explained the problem different than she did. Homework every day anywhere from 35 to 65 questions per day, which it was time consuming.
She's really great. Explains things clearly and has multiple ways to explain a problem if you don't get it the first time. Funny to.
Really good teacher. Iove how the online class is organized. Easy to follow video lectures and she's really good at explaining stuff. Dunno if I'll pass, but so far I'm learning more than I have from other math teachers ive had.
I am in Math 107 and online. The lectures are outdated, very hard to focus with the loud clicking and fan going. The professor did not explain everything in the lecture and then it would be on the homework. Her reviews for the exams were nothing like what was on the exam. And you hardly have enough time to finish the tests in the time frame given.
She was very nice and all but I did not like the way she taught the material. Everything was so fast paced, it was like you learn something completely different every day.
I really enjoyed this class and I feel like I learned more than I have in other classes. I wish the class was a little slower but that is not her fault. Overall a very good experience and I would take her again if I had to take more math.
a really great prof. i learned a lot and i have her again this quarter. she explains the math very well. she takes the time to make sure we get it before moving on. i like how she explains stuff.
Melissa is very clear with her teaching and she really cares about her students. I normally do not like math, but I am actually enjoying her class. It's a relief. She also has an abundance of videos for us which are really great.
Melissa is a very good teacher and a nice person but she is a TOUGH grader! She bases her grades only on the quizes and tests which are written with added curveballs thrown in. Her tests are tough! Her lectures are very fast and there is absolutely no time for reviews, or in depth questions. If your even sort of not getting it, you won't pass.
It is so nice to have a teacher that really cares about her students. She gave us free access to her website and the website is amazing! She's very organized and very good at explaining math. My only problem is I have to take Stats next quarter and she isn't teaching it. :(
Professor McNickle is great. The online course was easy to follow. She has a lecture for every section and YouTube videos to further explain concepts.
Ms. Mcnickle is the best math teacher I have ever had. Somehow she is able to explain things in a way that I can understand. I'm so grateful for the videos she makes. the ability to go back and watch them over again is so helpful.
Took McNickle for summer quarter. She's amazing! Clear and straight to the point videos. Will Zoom call with you if you need help on questions. Very helpful. Only thing I didn't enjoy was by how only 5 quizzes plus the final make up your grade in the class. If you're to miss any questions, it drops the grade 5% per question wrong.
She is someone who genuinely cares for the success of her students. Some of the material was difficult, so always ASK QUESTIONS. She won't hesitate to help you understand the material. She's also a little quirky, but in a charming way.
I took Melissa's Math 60/Math 70/Math 141 series and I can't say enough about what a great teacher she is. She gives you a free subscription to her website and her website is just awesome. Her videos are awesome. I normally don't like math, but I enjoyed it with her. She'll challenge you, but you'll learn a lot.
Professor McNickle is amazing. She has a way of explaining concepts that makes them easy to understand, and this is coming from a math hater. Her lectures are great and she talks slowly/clear enough that I was even able to watch most of them 2x speed and still get the concepts down. I would definitely recommend her for anyone who dislikes math.
She's a hard professor, but she explains the math super well. As long as you watch her lectures you're set, you just have to set a lot of time aside to pass the class. It's very time consuming and difficult, so I would definitely recommend asking for help, or contacting the CBC tutoring website for extra help. Her lectures are super helpful though!
She's really great at explaining the math.
McNickle is very unforgiving. There's no room for mistakes since there is no homework. All that is graded are quizes which are fairly easy after watching lectures & exams which are far more difficult than the quizzes. I really don't think her exams are a fair justification of you knowledge. She doesnt care if you pass or fail. No MU work. Dont rec.
Professor McNickle is one of the worst educators I have ever had to learn from. The tests are not a reflection of your knowledge and are significantly different from the quizzes. This is not a class to take online or with her. She's extremely unhelpful when going to her with questions or problems with curriculum and highly unprofessional. Beware.
Not an easy class by all means. She does have her own lectures on her own website that are about an hour long. So about 5 lectures plus homework 5 days a week. She does not collect homework but she does quizzes with about 3-4 questions. 3 exams and one final test. Her exams can be tricky. As long as you watch her lectures and do the work.
Probably the most terrible professor Ive ever had. She has decent reviews on here but she's comes off as entitled and does not work with her students in order to help them be successful. Only grades quizzes and exams so beware of that. Has good lectures and explains well. If there is a different teacher you can take, do it.
Somehow last quarter i taught myself algebra 1 and received a better grade. The exams are the most difficult things i have ever taken. failed every one of them. I did my best and still failed. i dont understand how she grades. you could get 13/16 questions wrong and received an F. Do not take this class. She is terrible.
I cannot say enough horrible things about Melissa McNickle. While her videos are clear and teach the material, the grading system will fail you. Her exams do not match what is being taught, the quizzes are nothing like the exams. There is no graded HW or MU work. She doesn't care about her students and was so unprofessional during my quarter.
Expect 20 hours plus of ungraded homework each week. Don't expect help outside of the prerecorded lectures. Exams are weighted heavily and include material that is not covered in class. I am a 4.0 student but I received a 1.7 for this class. Frankly, she is the most uncaring "professor" I've ever had.
She's a great teacher and really cares about her students. Her website is awesome and you will get a free login to it if you take her class.
Prof. Melissa really has a way of understanding the needs of her students. She is an open book of math expertise that lives to see her students succeed. If you are lazy tho you won't like her. But if you got work ethic, this is the prof for you.
She's nice and her lectures are helpful but the exams are A LOT of your grade in her class and they can get really confusing. I had great quiz scores but when I took the first exam, I got an F on it!
Math ISNT my strongest subject. Lectures are an hour long M-F, very clear and to the point, along with plenty of practice problems. If you fall behind... good luck. She's amazing at what she does and includes humor in her lectures. I will 100% be taking all my math credits with her if possible. She's very organized as well! Highly recommend.
Fantastic professor! Love her lectures. She breaks everything down so it is super easy to learn. Wish I had found her sooner.
I love her teaching style. She's literally like the only math teachers I've ever been able to understand.
She does NOT allow any makeup work, re-takes, extra credit, anything to help you fix your grade she is NOT willing to. She wont even drop the timed 1 hr tests! (Impossible with the load she drops on the tests) To make it worse the exams are way different then the homework and lectures combined. DO not take her class trust me.
Prof. Melissa is a great teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed this course with her. She has a great sense of humor and it's clear she loves math and teaching math. She's by far the best math professor I've ever had.
I would definitely take her again if I needed to take another math class. She cracks herself up and I enjoy the little things she shares during the lectures. She explains all the necessary material and I found it easy to pay attention during the lectures because she's entertaining and goes through the lecture in a decent amount of time.
Mrs. McNickle was one of the best math teachers Ive had, if not the best. I never considered myself a math person. however, she taught in a way that started with the most basic form and gradually complicated it to the final problem. This style allowed for a lot of improvement. I strongly recommend McNickle for those of you who struggle in math.
The professor did a good job at explaining things. However, her test are ridiculously difficult. You'll be able to do the homework but lots of curveballs in the test, it's almost as if she doesn't want you to pass the class. Test are 16 difficult questions with 1 hr limit. Ended up withdrawing after 2nd test, and hopefully re-taking it elsewhere.
Mrs. McNickle is an excellent teacher. She's really entertaining in her videos and that helped me to enjoy this subject more which I don't usually enjoy. I feel her tests are hard, but they are fair. If you have done the homework. I highly recommend her if you don't like math.
Excellent professor. Really explains well and the videos are entertaining.
She has the best lecture material and I continued to seek out her material even after I was in other math classes.
Tried reaching out to the teacher for assistance multiple times during the term and she was not helpful. Pretty much told me if I didn't understand it from the text book that I was screwed. Did not try to help provide other links or anything. Ended up having to withdraw from the course.
I had so much anxiety going into this class. Ms. Mcnickle has really helped me calm my anxiety about math. She's so good at explaining math and she is so patient. She met with me over zoom to tell me a technique for handling the anxiety. I highly recommend her if you don't like math.
Her class is only graded by tests. She has homework but does not grade it or give points for it. The tests are timed at an hour and have 30-40 questions. When emailed her for assistance all she gave me was to study more and that I must not be smart enough to understand it. Her lessons are short unclear and few problems actually gone through.
There are only 4 exams, 5 quizzes, and 1 final. She gives lots of ungraded homework. The exams and final are 83.33% of your grade, and the quizzes are the other 16.67%. She drops one quiz (4%), but she does not drop any of the tests. Even if you get 100% on all the quizzes and only one out of sixteen wrong on the tests, you still don't get a 4.0.
This class requires 3 hour/day to complete work. Material is difficult to understand because teacher is not available. Tests are made to trick you so that it is almost impossible to get an A. Teacher does not care about student's success. She does not give extra credit, partial credit, or retakes. Do not take this class. I got a 4.0 in Math 141.
Great teacher. She explains concepts really well and is always available for help via zoom whenever I need it. I appreciate the effort she puts into creating videos that really explain the material instead of expecting you already know everything.
I do NOT recommend this class unless you want your grade to be based off of 5 exams only.I do well on HW & not great on the exams. She also puts the HW link out but it did not work on my new macbook, when I asked she said "watch the video" I emailed her back saying I did watch the video & the link still isn't there, she said it could be my computer.
I was excited to take this class because her lectures are laid out in a very nice and clear manner, but then when it comes to grading quizzes and tests she is a very tough grader. There is no partial credit and the exams are very confusing.Exams did not go over the same subject matter that was covered in lectures, but teacher states it is...
class was tough since it had been a long time since I took a math class. Quizzes, and tests only which are heavy on your grade, timed tests gave me anxiety, and took me a bit to work through the problems so felt rushed, The lectures are lengthy, NO EXTRA CREDIT, HW on your own time. crappy feeling to fail when it was not by much and I tried.
Great math professor in my opinion. I hope to keep taking them for my math career.
She's really great. Easy to understand and not boring like most math teachers. I really like how the class is set up. Very strait forward.
I did not mind 141, but currently in 142 & "Quizzes MUST be submitted in the form of 1 and only 1 pdf document. That means if you have taken multiple pictures of your work, you must first make a pdf document of all of those pictures and then submit just that 1 file." Understandable to have it in pdf form to grade, but automatic 0 for multiple pdfs ?
Videos are great, class is organized.
This professor is extremely bad. The lectures are super long and you get graded by a couple exams. The exams are held only on specific days with no changes. I was super sick on one of the days and got a bad grade and there was no coming back. I had a 100 percent on everything else after spending 25 hours+ a week on the course.
Professor is extremely cold and could care less about the students, she constantly seems annoyed by any questions asked and offers little help for any issues you have. Quizzes are graded rough and lectures are extremely lengthy, and there are very few graded assignments so any errors could tank your grade. I would avoid this prof when possible.
I had to retake the class after I failed the first time with my previous teacher who didn't really care to go into detail when students had questions. Professor McNickle was amazing at explaining lectures in her videos. People say her videos are long, Yes but that's how it is supposed to be it takes practice and a lot of time to learn math.
she is a good teacher and i would take her again. only thing i advise is her tests are timed and if you don't learn the material you wont have enough time to finish, which is challenging. tests are weighed heavy. overall good communicator and explains well during lectures.
Want to learn math at a good rate with great feedback? Don't take her PreCalc class. You have 0 homework and upwards of 11+ lectures in a week. She only does tests/exams, so your grade can drop fast! You are given a "free" textbook & its free because it has the most loose descriptions on how to do problems. I learned more watching vids on YouTube.
This class was easier than I expected, even though I was worried since I hadn't taken a math class in a long time. The lectures were pretty long, but they were really helpful for understanding the material and completing the homework and tests.
She uses a very weird way of finding your grade in the class, she has some equitation that she uses to find it. Nevertheless the grade that comes out isn't crazy or anything, it's just kind of odd. Besides that, this course was online I felt like she stayed out of the way, she just assigns the work and grades it.
Lots of lecture videos and graded solely on quizzes and exams, though exams make up a significantly higher percent of the final grade. I personally would not take another online math course because I find it easier to learn in an in person setting. The lecture videos are very clear and concise, though, with many examples and definitions.
Great prof. Really enjoy the lectures.
Has zero tolerance for anything missed, no credit for doing homework, difficult to work with
I worked hard for a 95.75%. Graded: 5 quizzes, 3 exams, & 1 Final Exam. Marks lowest quiz grade from final grade. No re-takes, no xtra credit. HW is not graded but useful to do. Stays out the way & lectures are heavy but worth the time. Took winter tri. Great course for high-achievers and self-learners. Currently in her pre-calc II spring course.
You can really tell when a teacher genuinely cares about their students' education! I really appreciated how in depth the lectures were and how easy she made it to understand! Highly recommend :) !
Professor McNickle knows what she is doing. She teaches everything with detail and it actually makes sense. However, she dosnt allow retakes or have any extra credit opportunity and only grades quizzes and tests. A simple mistake could costs you your grade but as long as you do the hw and watch all lectures you'll be okay.
I really like her lectures. She breaks everything down step by step and doesn't assume you know things you don't. Funny too.
Prof McNickle's class is easy to work with, but you need to stay on top of things. You are graded by 5 quizzes (drop the lowest score), 3 exams, and 1 final exam, so a simple mistake could cause a drop in the grade you want. There are no opportunities for extra credit either. If you follow all her instructions and stay diligent, you'll be fine.
