Ms. Prinzing is hella cool!
Great teacher. Explains lesson plans so that everyone understands. Excellent class.
Tries to show the students that she knows something by makeing her classes hard and Tedious, if you want to take a class that overwelms you due to sheer amout of work you have to do, even though most of the work is useless and and a waste of time.
This was supposed to be class that shows you how the real world goes about "Designing a Business Web Site". But, it was not!! Take this class if you want to sit around and talk about doing something. Don't take this class if you actually want to
I agree with everyone else. There is a lot of work and most of it is very pointless and leaves the student with no real return on their investment. This professor is also very close minded about any other ideas other than her own.
She doesn't seem to like females, very picky and makes you do useless work. Grades critically, unfortunatly I had to be in a couple of her classes, I did well but it wasn't a fun trip....

Mrs. Prinzing was an awesome teacher! I'd have to say it was my favorite class this semester. The amount of work she gave was reasonable, and really helped me to know it better. She was very clear in class, and very nice all the time! I hoep to take another class from her in the future!
I agree with the others, She is picky and make students do a lot a lot of homeworks...Don't take her class at all.
Lectures were difficult to follow because it was 95% powerpoint and very little demonstration
Ms. Prinzing demanded a high quality of work, and the work load was heavy, but I learned more in her class than any other I have had. The information and experience I gained was invaluable. Ms. Prinzing is an excellent teacher and I learned a lot from her.
Nice enough and well meaning. Lectures are well planned out but the amount of work is staggering. Should be a 4+ unit class and is only 3. Critical grader and office hours are hindered by her children.
M. Prinzing is a good teacher that is not overall really friendly. Her class has an unreasonaly large amount of HW and it is usually tideous and repetitive. She is a very hard grader on HW and often deducts points for things that are not even listed in the HW. Her test are easy but fast paced, they will go the entire length of a class period.
Melissa is a difficult teacher. She expects a lot out of her students. I spent upwards of 16+ hours a week on homework (some weeks, not all). Her grading system is very strict. You have to be willing to put in the time to get the grade. I never missed a class because I was afraid I would fall behind. I learned a lot, but boy was it tough.
The amount of HW Prinzing assigns is crushing and tedious. Also, she grades off for things not even assigned in the HW. I dropped her class and took Bushnell the next sem. A world of difference! Bushnell assigns way less and more fun HW, explains things way better, and teaches real world skills!
OMG Don't even try to take this class. I have never spent so much time on HW in just the first week of class !!! I have other responsibilities and there is no way with the amount of work required in this class. I'm going to another class.
OK as a person great!!! But as a teacher she needs work. If you do not understand the material going in you will be LOST and if that doesn't kill you the handout and paperwork overload will. It can be very confusing. Tons of busy work and more homework than all of my other 3 classes combined (I am an accounting major). Good Luck
She doesn't accept any late work which is really hard cause if your sick or whatever you loose out on 30 points which you can't make up and she rushes through chapters and makes it hard to follow.
If you want to spend a semester wishing you were dead, then take this class! She overloads you with tons of homework shes very into herself & its her way or the high way. Not understanding her instructions dont help you & even if you try to ask her for help she acts like shes to busy & could care less! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!

If you are a lazy type slacker. DONT TAKE HER CLASS. but if you wanna learn a perfection at work. I really recommend taking her class. She demands heck a lot from you. every details in the HW counts.. I still manage to get an A in her class. but oh boy.. you need extra effort to get it in her class..
don't put off assignments to the day before they are due. Don't expect mrs. Prinzing to work with you much on assignments if you have something difficult happen in your life and need the due dates adjusted. She says thats too stressful for her to deal with . so you will be SOL! However, assuming nothing major happenss in your life that may interf
Just a note, when she is stressed out, she gets very pissy and may treat you pissy
Prinzing does give out the amount of hw that every other teacher does give out. She's a great teacher! Her exam are EASY. and one of the reason why she would knock off pts bc it SAYS IN THE DIRECTION of what to do and what NEEDS to be put there. the key to be success in her class: READ ALL THE DIRECTIONS. [thats one of the problems students have.]
Prof Prinzing is one the BEST professors that I have ever had. She has infinite patience and encourages any and all questions. (She also has a great sense of humor and keeps the class interesting.) She also is very clear on expectations -- and even gives out practice midterms and finals. No surprises. Absolutely love her!!
The teacher was not that bad,but alot of work.Tests are also pretty hard because you don't get enough time to do them.
She is a fantastic teacher that works hard at creating everything that goes out to her students. She tries to have fun and every detail of every assignment is spelled out. She entertains all questions and uses them as opportunities to help you create the skills to help yourself when she is not there. READ THE DIRECTIONS!
She is a very good Instructor. She gives a lot of work and is very strict as far as class work, but she also understands that things do happen. She will work with you and is a very good instructor. I do not think I am passing her class but she is a very fair Instructor and will work with you as long as you come to class and do the work.
1) Lots of homework 2) heavy tests and its hard to complete it on time 3) restrict and un patient 4) expects a lot from student. Do not take her
She is a fantastic teacher that wants you to learn. She knows that if you do not practice there is no way you will remember it after you leave the class. You MUST read the directions. If you dont than there is no helping you. Work hard and she will accomodate you if you need it. Make an effort! This is not a slacker class. This is a class for peopl
Melissa is a very intelligent teacher, she knows her stuff and is more than willing to help her students. I took her CIS30 class, it was very easy. got an A and really didnt have to try very hard at all. its very basic comp knowledge. homework is a MUST. the test are easy and the class is fun. she is a a very good teacher
she is an extremely sweet and understanding teacher.
Prof prinzing is overall easy and a good teacher. BUT she gives WAY to much homework, and grades way too hard. Im getting a B in the class, but Ive worked extremely hard for it. Im a straight A student and she grades hard. the homework averages to 3 hours a night. she grades very hard on the homework. its not worth it sometimes to even do it.
great teacher, she loves working with you explains in a really clear way i have really enjoyed getting her this semester and i would highly reccomend her to other students she is just amazing...
The class is good but the teacher isn't very helpful. She likes having you do it on your own even if you really don't understand the situation. Be prepared for an extreme amount of hw
Easy class if you do the assignments. Allows one page of notes for every test. Good ammount of extra credit. Very approachable and reasonable.
Great teacher. She's very clear about what she expects. You can't miss many classes because no late is excepted, but if you do the work, its an easy A. Homework is assigned for everyday, but is easily completed in class. Great class for people just learning how to use a computer.
Lots of homework, but it's necessary to learn the material. Easy class.
If you are not computer literate already DO NOT take this class. She is NOT helpful at all. If you don't understand something she won't help you. All she can say is read the course packet, it has all the directions in it. That would be good except it doesn't. She is a terrible teacher. Never wants to help. I am sm sorry I took her!!!
Lots of homework. She can be helpful but that depends on what mood she is in. You do need to know the basics on word, access, excel, and powerpoint before you take this class. Can be fast paced. Overall Prof. is ok.
She is not helpful at all, she talks to you as if you are a little kid and when you don't understand a questions regarding your homework she gets annoyed easily. If she is annoyed or irritated by another class she will take it out in your class too.
she was an amazing teacher, i loved the amount of help i got and she really was patient and she is somebody i would reccomend to everyone
DO NOT take Melissa for CIS50. Ok, I'll start off by saying, yes, the information you learn in this class will be useful to know. HOWEVER... Expect at least 4 hours of hmwk per day. If u don't have MS Word,Excel,Powerpoint, and Access on your computer at home, GOOD LUCK!!!! You'll be spending your life in the computer lab! THIS IS YOUR WARNING!!!
HATE This class. FYE is intertwined which entails more homework that is NOT related to the course. In FYE you MUST attend 2 seminars, 2 multi-cultural events, 3 hours of community service plus other stuff. I still would choose a different teacher if you can. Not helpful, refers you to course pack.
Not helpful at all. When someone asks for help, she does the bare minimum to help them get by, either that or just tells her Student Assistant to help them. And she gives EXTREME, OVERBEARING amounts of homework. I agree w/ other poster, if you don't have MS Office Suite on your home computer, you WILL be spending your life in the computer lab!
crystal clear when in reality, they could be taken many different ways. She nitpicks points away from you any chance she gets. I would NEVER want another teacher like her, and wouldn't recommend her to anyone ever.
Easiness1 Helpfulness1 Clarity2 Rater Interest2 DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!! She likes to pretend her directions are crystal clear when in reality, they could be taken many different ways. then she nitpicks points away from you any chance she gets. I would NEVER want another teacher like her, and wouldn't recommend her to anyone ever.
I do not recommend this teacher for anyone, I am a very hard worker and her class is extremely time consuming. She gives WAY too much homework as if you have no other classes and don't have a job or anything and is very inconsiderate to anyone who needs help or doesn't understand an assignment. Very judgmental also.
I had Melissa for two computer classes and I got an A in both her classes but I would not recommend her to anyone because she does not teach anything. If you have no options like me you will need to work hard and be ready for surprises that she throws during the exam.
I don't know what everyone who did not like Melissa was expecting but I really enjoyed her class and she is a good teacher. CIS50 is an important class, I guess all the complainers didn't want to do anything. I'd recommend her, although there was a little too much busy work. Really nice lady too.
Do not take a course from Melissa. She is moody, hostile, and runs her class in a chaos. You’ll be miserable! She is constantly changing the expectations and gets angry if you do not foresee them. There is WAY too much homework for this type of class and it is mostly unrelated busy-work. Melissa is not helpful.
I took Melissa for both CIS30 & 50. She assigns her fair share of work but it is easy. In CIS 30 I didn't feel she was always clear about the assignments but there was an amazing improvement when I took CIS 50. Just do the work and you will get an A. She does offer lots of extra credit points.
She treats the class as if we know just as much as she does, does not help very much refers to the book or handouts, groups students together "one of you will know it", SHE is the teacher She should show us, it is like a online course instead.
Don't take her class! Even though I got an A in the class but it wasn't an easy A if you're looking for one. I agree with those who left the comments. She didn't have a clear instructions on the assignments. She is really moody. Most likely a self-learning class. And she gave out tons of work. She doesn't have a clear explanation. Not recommended.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH MELISSA PRINZING! Yes, it is a very important class with a lot to learn, but she as a teacher is awful. She does not take any late work or excuse assignments even with extensive medical documentation. She makes you feel stupid and laughs at your questions and is no help at all when you don't understand.
WORST "PROFESSOR" AT SIERRA. Class consists of her sitting at her desk eating while you work on quizzes and projects (unnecessary busy work) that are due in a less than 48hr period. Gives you smart-ass remarks when you ask valid questions. Worked my butt off on projects (3 hrs on them); she gave me Cs when I forgot minor details. Don’t take her!!
I SHOULD HAVE PAID ATTENTION TO PRIOR REVIEWS. I THOUGHT I'D GIVE BENEFIT OF DOUBT. SORRY TO SAY, MOST EVERYTHING IS TRUE. TONS OF BUSY WORK (FYE) OCCUPIES MUCH OF THE HW. BE CAFFUL. THERE IS TOO MUCH HW FOR THIS CLASS. HARD GRADER.
DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES. Too much 'busy work" is not helpful refer to the book which is confusing, or has you "research" homework no kidding is 15 week and thats being generous! Also homework due most times within a 24 hr period and is due the day before at 12 midnight. ABSOLUTELY no excuses on absences even with ER Dr. Note!!
Worst class I've ever taken. Prinzing doesn't teach anything, she is extremely unhelpful and assigns a ridiculous amount of unrelated busy work. She expects you to learn all of the course material yourself and if you ask her a question she'll respond in a rude and snarky manner as if you've seriously offended her. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
Workload is ridiculous...RIDICULOUS . In class, she makes us start 5 different things, but won't allow us to finish, & moves on to the next.. it becomes very confusing. She isn't helpful, nor explains; she expects you to just know. Course point system is like 10,000 points, it's hard to figure out where you are. She's a rude grader/ gives no mercy.
This is the worst professor at Sierra. This class is based off of thousands of points and if you mess up on the tests, your grade will go down immensely. Her directions are unclear which causes low grades. When you ask a question, she never knows how to respond and makes you feel like an idiot. Do not take her, take a different professor.
All of her assignments/tests come with ridiculously vague instruction. Somehow, even though you submit gold, she will take points off in whatever way she can... (even if this means contradicting her own instructions for the assignment). Read the reviews and believe them. Terrible teacher all around.
Absolute worst teacher I have ever had. If you have the opportunity to take anyone else, take them. She talks down to students and is completely rude. All of her "CAP" projects are so vague. She seems like she does not want to be there at all. All she does for the class is sit up front and treat you like your stupid if you ask a question.
Easy class? No, but this is college and this is a true college-level course that will prepare you for the job market. Skills that I learned in this class are useful. Yes, she is a strict grader, but if carefully read the project instructions and chapter readings, then you should have no problem getting good grades. Overall, prepare to work hard.
Worst professor ever! Do not take her class. Teaching should not be her career because she is clearly terrible at it. She has a very fake attitude and she is very annoying. Lecturing is the worst with her, I always put my headphones on because her voice just annoys me. The mid-term and final is a joke, completely unorganized and hard to understand
Be prepared for this class. Although you will learn alot, this class and CIS50 have way too much homework. It is pretty fast paced but the homework is something else.
Melissa is very nice. This class is extreme busy work that really has nothing to do with the class. Its a very simple class, easy A for sure. If you cant pass this class its becuase you arent trying, which really you dont have to in this class! Easy A!
Prinzing is by far the worst professor I've ever had. She refuses to help students who don't understand and makes them feel stupid. Her instructions for assignments are unclear and she grades way too harsh, I've had points taken off for stuff she said in class was okay. Her lectures are useless and she gives way too much HW. Don't take this class!
Grades down for ridiculous guidelines she seems to come up with arbitrarily. Whenever an issue seems to occur with the program that you take tests on has a glitch, she makes it seem as if it's your fault and then gets angry when you're upset that you lots points due to the defective program. Honestly, it's easy material with a ridiculous grading.
Fake and forced laugh is the worst part of the class. Exact reason why tenure should not exist. Grades based upon opinion and not tangible rubric. 10k points in the gradebook extremely over saturated. Dont trust the good reviews. there isnt enough char to convey her incompetence. I would say dont take her class but she will be gone in two semesters
I loved prof. Prinzing's class. You learn a LOT of good stuff. Her class demands hard work and attendance for a good grade. She is caring and understanding, really wants her students to succeed. A lot of chances for extra credit. Her class was fun and very interesting. I wish I could take more classes with her!
She makes you work for it but she is an amazing teacher! Her class was so fun that me and a few class mates actually found going to class everyday really enjoyable. You will learn so much from her! SHE TEACHES YOU REAL LIFE SKILLS!!! If you listen she will prepare for the business world and give you everything you need to succeed! Bravo Professor!
she gives tedious and a lot of work to do. If you ask for help she doesn't really help. I would 100% never take this class again.
She is really a tough grader and not a very clear one. Im surprised Im reading people here saying they are getting anything above a C. Please avoid this instructor and find someone else. You will be given lots of homework that is due on the two class days you have with her. VERY leacture heavy. I seriously doubt anyone is passing her class.
The professor assigns 5-9 homework assignments per class, every class. Its so excessive that I have no time for my other classes. She is a very tough grader and her instructions are often vague. I wouldnt recommend if you plan on taking other classes. Its an extremely heavy workload with repetitive assignments as well.
She will give you a lot of assignments. Some assignments let you think you are taking English A. Tough grader.
Lot of assignments to do each week which helped for better understanding in overall class. personally, this class went smooth with professor's help, guidance and feedbacks. I love the way she explain each and every topic in detail until we don't fully understand. Feedback on each assignments was so helpful. Many extra credit opportunities.
Melissa is a very organized with her lectures. She cares about your understanding of the assignments. The homework can be a lot so be prepared to set aside more time for homework. In this class I learned how to use office applications outside the basics. Do the extra credit. Organization is key to being successful. Participate during lectures.
You will get a lot out of this class. There are a lot of assignments but, if you spend the time, you will really know the material by the end of the semester. Melissa is very approachable and always eager to help if students struggle. She definitely cares a lot about her students and wants them to succeed!
Professor Prinzing is an absolute joy. She tries her absolute best to make sure her students not only pass the course, but understand the material. The course is rather HW heavy, so if you take this course, make sure to budget your time accordingly. If you keep up with assignments, and study for the exams, youll pass this class no problems.
Prof. Prinzing is an amazing teacher. She really cares for her students and wants them all to succeed. She gives you a ton of resources so that you can be successful in class. She is super understanding and will help you, all you need to do is ask. Theres a lot of work so be organized but the projects aren't impossible. A lot of extra credit!
This class is VERY HANDS-ON and instead of just listening to the teacher lecture about the given material, we were able to go through the steps on our own with her guiding us the entire way. Mrs. Prinzing is a very caring and attentive teacher. Yes this class is a lot of work but you will learn SO much and Mrs. Prinzing made it go very smoothly.
I really like this class. You will learn a lot out of this class know the lessons very well by the end of the semester. The instruction videos are great help when you do your assignment Melissa is very good and always eager to help if students in struggle. She definitely cares a lot about her students and wants them to succeed!
Melissa Prinzing's class was not easy but I learned a lot of new skills. She was always available, responding to questions within a couple of hours. She provided great feedback and really cared about her students.
She's very involved. & She has a lot of opinions about your work. The class I took was a 3-credit class. She has more work in this class than my 4 credit classes. Shes very particular about EVERYTHING. It was difficult biting my tongue on varies comments shes made on my work. Shes very demeaning. If I could drop her class right now I would.
I took Professor Prinzing's class for Bus250. I knew very little coming into the course and was told that she would be an excellent teacher who would cover everything in detail. I was not disappointed. I learned so much this semester. If you do not understand something she is happy to meet with you until you do get it right.
I thought I knew a lot about Microsoft applications going into the class, but wow, did Melissa provide an excellent online platform to expand my skills and challenge me through the semester. She is an extremely caring professor and will go above and beyond to help you succeed.
Be careful! She tries to get you with her "kind and caring" attitude - but she's petty! If you try at all to voice your opinion (even though she asks for feedback/opinions often) you'll end up on her bad side! Wouldn't recommend unless you have no other option. Group work all semester long, and if your working good luck passing this class.
Class has a large amount of work, but allows you to practice and master the material. Melissa goes out of her way to help students and is extremely easy to reach and talk to. Most of the work builds on itself and you are given a lot of feedback, you can make changes and improve your grade. Getting an A in this class isn't hard, it just takes work.
Melissa really likes to comment on the work you do. She expects that every person in her class has a computer literacy level of zero and gives you assignments accordingly. Unless you have an excess of time to spend on a course about Microsoft Office I would not recommend taking her course.
Professor Prinzing is amazing at her job. She truly cares about your success and will struggle with you to get you to where you need to be. However I'd never have thought I'd pull this much hair out over bolding text the wrong way or not being able to use CTRL + A to select a mass of text. Would take again if it was my only class that semester.
I loved bus250 with Mrs. Prinzing. The class was intimidating at first. You are told on the first day that you will a lot of work. This is not a bad thing. I learned more in this 1 class than any other class. Hands down my favorite class. I would recommend it to anyone. Mrs. Prinzing is very helpful and know a lot!!
I've been taking classes at Sierra College for 2 yrs now & Prinzing's has been the best experience my entire college career. This is the first 1st I've ever participated in a group task, she really encouraged small group participation. I can't say enough about Prinzing, she is a great instructor and I hope someday I have another just like her.
She is a very tough grader. The workload is too much. She expects all students to know the same level as hers. Sometimes I think if it is a computer or English class. I will not suggest to take her class. She will make you so disappointed with her grading and comments.
While incredibly nice, she assigns a LOT of homework with multiple parts, which are completely outweighed by your Assessments for each program. Her feedback is thorough, yes, but even if you follow step by step she is a VERY tough grader and particular, so be wary. She does have great communication and many resources for her students that need it.
Professor is very good at teaching Microsoft programs. Follow directions and complete the work on time and you will do well. Teacher and tutors are always available. You will learn a lot.
I thought maybe l was over reacting until l read some of these reviews. She's a super nice lady and makes herself available if you have any questions, but good lord she's a hard grader. I feel like the instructions can be vague, and she will ding you for things you didn't consider possible. I learned a lot in the class but it was a lot of work.
If you're considering taking her for a Bus250 Class. Dont. I took her in a Hybrid Asynchronous class format. She reviews content that you've already taken a quiz for the next day. My entire class failed 1/4th of the midterm and she refused to go back and let us retake it or to grade on a curve. 0/10 My grade went from A to B due to the Midterm.
Lengthy assignments fit for hermit crabs, feedback wrapped in condescension, and an extremely tough grader. Approach with caution.
Toughest grader I've ever experienced. Has you complete tons of tiny assignments plus the reading and book work, but even if you get 100% on all of those, her nit-picky grading of the projects will tank your grade. Meet with the tutors, at the very least so you can tell her you've done your due diligence to make sure you understand the material.
While I'm learning a lot, she grades in a condescending way. Her feedback is very vague and she assigns so much work each week. You could miss one little thing and she docs you a ton of points. I asked for help which wasn't given and then had 50% of one of my assessment grades taken. Which dropped my grade significantly.
It takes a couple of weeks to get used to what she is looking for. You need to follow her directions completely! Read her rubrics for each assignment and then read them again when you're turning something in. She is very particular with how she wants things done. Learned more in this course than any other. Maintained an A all semester!
She is very knowledgeable and very nice person overall. But she is unreasonably tough grader. She will take points for tiny things simply because it doesn't fit her own criteria of perfect assignment. She also gives million of 1-2 points worth assignments which are time consuming and annoying.
A ton of information to process. Ton of assignments. Outdated and problematic software is used to complete assignments. Tough grader. Miss an assignment? You get a whole avalanche of assignments piled up. In conclusion, you need to dedicate a lot of time and effort in completing this class. If you do, you will successfully pass this class.
