good teacher, kinda sassy and intimidating, but i liked her. i'm a good writer and i got A's on all my papers,,,though many said she was tough. your grade is pretty much based on the 5 papers you'll write.

She is the person to get for Eng 111. She is so upbeat in class it's unbelievable. No matter what grade you get in here you will have fun. Besidess, if you just do your work and put a little time into it you'll be fine. One of the best in the Dept.

She was another awesome teacher. She is right there willing to help you out if you need it.

I thoroughly enjoyed her class. I learned a lot about the craft of creative writing. One of the best I have taken so far in dept. Just don't have discussion when she is talking, she hates that. And always participate!!

Great class, not a lot of notes, mostly in class work. Don't bother reading the book, you only need each one for one assignment.

Great teacher! Fun class and you'll learn a lot. You'll have to do some sort of homework for every class period (ie. peer reviews) but not bad. Glad I had her. Hated English before and now it's my favorite subject.

Don't be late and go to class. She hates when people come in late. Also you get points for going to class. Good teacher, willing to help and is understanding.

SHe's a great prof. She strives to make you work hard, but it's worth it. Any time you need help she's willing to give it. I'd recommend her. Probably the best English prof I've had yet.

You get points for showing up. You will want to show up anyways. Great class where all students can participate, and most actually do. Don't ever, ever, ever say anything bad about Kansas, even though Prof.Seitz sometimes wears red shoes:)

I am an English minor and I got my worst english grade in this class (b+). I was very disappointed with comments I got on my papers. The way I see it, if she doesn't like your work or doesn't think it is good enough, you won't get a good grade.

What a fun class, she's great. I actually look forward to going. You read 5 novels and there really good. You read the books you'll get an A on all the exams.

I loved this class. It was a lot of fun. However, it does require a lot of time and effort. I would definitely recommend taking her for a Creative Writing course.

This class was my favorite! She is one of the best profs at SVSU. She will help you no matter what, just ask. If you do your work and participate you will do great. I recommend her class to anyone. I wish she taught more classes!

This class was great, it took me out of my comfort zone kicking and screaming and I actually learned something. Prof. Seitz is awesome and very helpful. I would recommend her to anyone who actually wants to learn something while at college! Hard, but fair

Requires work/effort. Fun class & learned a lot! I hated writing before Seitz. Shes helpful & funny. Do the work = good grade. Be prepared for tests! If I got an A, so can you!

I really liked Melissa--she's helpful, interesting, & made the class a lot of fun, & I changed my major because of this class. She's tough, but you'll learn a lot in her class--And for us grown-ups at college, that's important. If you want to just slide by with minimum effort, take another prof.

Melissa is awesome! These freshman who had her for 111 obviously don't know a hard college professor! There is no way that she could be too tough. She pushes her students to do the best they can, that's what makes her a great prof. I would highly recommend her!!!!

Make sure you listen to her directions and seek advice in her office and you will do fine. If you resist and want to do it your way, good luck. Class was a lot of fun most times. Take every assignment seriously and the "A" is yours.

She is a very fun teacher, and graded me fairly. However, you learn the styles of papers on your own. She just grades them

Had a few essays(2-3pg, 3-4pg, and a 6-10 page reflection), four poems (10-40 lines), one fiction story (7-10pg), and quizes were very difficult. (Most of the class did not do well on her quizes) Easy to talk to, helps when asked. Very knowledgable, and enjoys teaching.

Seitz is a great teacher, and I notice that complainers tend to be weak students. Wow, she not only expects us to read but to demonstrate that we understand what we read! I guess if you want a repeat of ninth grade, you might not like her class.

Professor Seitz is an excellant teacher. She is fun and interesting. Her class is an excellant experience for anyone interested in disecting novels.

Who ever is picking on her moods just doesnt have a personality! Seriously people, she is super funny! Not moody, saracstic in a funny way. You do not get much written direction when writing papers though...

She is a great teacher! I'm a history major and was angry about having to take this class, but she makes it easy, and its now my favorite class! All you really have to do is read the books and the rest comes super easy!!!

This class was easy, I do not know what people are complaning about. Just read and do the assigned work. It is not too hard and does not take that long. Would recomend her to anyone.

I would recommend Melissa to anyone, especially if you are willing to learn! She seems unappraochable, but if you go talk to her, you'll find she's very easy to talk to and VERY HELPFUL! Her classes are challenging, but you actually learn from it. She is the best English professor here! I wish she taught more classes.

Cool lady: smart, funny, and wears great clothes. Great class discussion, interesting assignments - a good class for anyone interested in creative wriitng.

We all talked about ourselves in the class. It's part of 261 and writing. Seitz doesn't give extra credit either. I loved this class and learned so much. We knew from day one about the final assignment, so what's with the complainer chick--R U an ed major? Can't wait til U teach my kids.

Melissa pushes all students to dig deep and find within themselves the best writer they can be. Doesn't tolerate slackers or people who take the subject lightly. If you want to learn then take Melissa's class. She doesn't like abstract poetry, if that is your style be prepared for comments. I learned more than I had expected, thank you Melissa.

I loved Prof. Sietz! We had so much fun in her class! I actually communicated with other people and the interaction is great. If you want to learn and have fun at the same time, take her. I will definitely miss her class.

AWESOME class. However, on a personal level, she's kind of a ****. But she doesn't let her personal opinion of you affect your grade, which I really respect. Highly recommend this one.

Melissa is awesome. The last comment cracks me up about assigned readings. God forbid that we would have to actually read, consume, and UNDERSTAND the text. This is college people. No one is going to hold your hand--and they shouldn't. Melissa taught me so much and is such a valuable instructor. Work hard & you'll be happy just knowing her.

Great teacher! Loved reading the crybaby comments from the previous posts; sad to think they go to SVSU. It's college, girls, get a grip. Seitz always helps students who work hard. Knows her stuff. Funny too. Slackers should go elsewhere.

A really great professor who wants her students to challenge themselves and excel. Don't take her or the course if you cannot handle constructive criticism though, as you WILL receive it. This is a workshop style class. However, if you let her, she will help you become a better writer guaranteed.

I have really enjoyed taking lit with Melissa Seitz. I've learned a lot about myself and about literary works of many different genres. I really enjoy Melissa's perspectives on literature, especially pieces that have strong aspects of femininity. I would definitely recommend this class.

Great professor! I had her for both 202 and 261, and she really helped me become a better writer. Sure, it's a lot of work, but it's very rewarding! Values everyone's opinions and listens to what they have to say. I'd recommend her for anyone who cares about their work and doesn't just want a blowoff class.

Her classes are really fun and involve a lot of debate, discussion, and group work. I found her papers to be challenging in the sense that they required deep thought and reflection, but not hard in terms of grading--they were an artistic challenge, not an academic one. However, her tests are a doozy. Know your material inside out!

Great class. Is a lot of work but the work is fun and she makes the class enjoyable to go to. Would def. take her again!

A great lady overall. Never understood the "Night Ranger" references, and her comments on "Eddie in Baltimore" must've been some strange inside joke. But I'd take her anyday--If she'd ever let a moron like me return. :)

Not terribly hard, although the busy work is boring and so is that stupid "Why Read?" book. Hopefully she doesn't use it again. She is opinionated and can be ****y as people have said, and it does seem as if she has some bias against men. However, the class is easy to pass and an A is attainable.

She's a very fun, enthusiastic teacher. Me failing was my own fault and in no way a comment on her teaching ability. I'd recommend her.

thoug she was interesting ad fun, but kinda ard. read the chapters that are assigned and keep a journal on you at all times. she make yu read infront of that class and can be harsh on what you write.DONT CRY!!! writi ssignment are relativly self explainitory. easy, but the poems ar hard to do. Agan harsh critic so DONT CRY.

Melissa is a great teacher. I leared a lot. It was a hard class but it helped me with the rest of college. If you have the chance, take her!

This is an awesome class. She is a little difficult with grading when in comes to creative writing, but you will feel like you have learned a lot towards the end of the class. She is extremely funny. She makes class fun. make sure to do the reading and journals. And don't be afraid to talk to her about problems you are having with your writing.

This class was by far my favorite this semester. Some of the assignments are a bit unclear, but she'll gladly help, to a point. Just make sure you stay on her good side.

Great teacher. Daily work and discussions were somewhat annoying but enjoyable.

Hard grader, but fun person. Grades the first paper of the semester pretty hard.
