Great class if you are interested in Perosnal Finance. She gives handouts for every lecture. As long as you pay attention, take notes and do the assignments you should be fine. This class will motivate you to set your personal goals.

She provides handouts for each lecture, frequent quizzes but she goes over the main points right before you take them. Homework is minimal and pretty easy. To pass the tests just pay attention in class and do your homework. Attendance is mandatory to keep up with the work, no make-up's for the quizzes. Overall, awesome teacher!

Great class and learned a lot!! She was an excellent instructor and used a lot of great examples that students can relate to. Its definitely an easy A as long as you show up to class, do your homework, and pay attention for exams. She reviews for the exam right out of the book. I would definitely take her again!

Conscientious and professional. She tells you exactly what you need to know. If you do your work you will succeed. Strongly recommend you take any course she offers. She has alot of real world experience and is willing to share it.

Reasonable, friendly teacher with a sarcastic wit. Does not expect you to do much work at home, but does expect you to pay attention and work in class. Lenient on absences, but you will miss graded quizzes and coursework if you don't attend. Much of the material should be known to you if you've had english courses before. The book is quite useless.

Not a difficult class, just make sure you read her PowerPoint and the book, although the book isn't necessary; it's on ECC Reserve (prior edition). Quizzes are easy and unit exams are okay. Weekly discussions require some thought, but not hard.

Great class and pretty easy. Exams and material are straightforward. The final is a group video instead of a presentation which is super easy. She doesn't expect anything fancy just as long as the material is in the video, you'll get an A. You can get away without the book if you listen to the lectures.

Taking notes from her lecture is sufficient. The only thing I'll say is if you can't keep up, record her. I'd recommend her to ANYONE. GREAT professor!

She is a great professor. She is very professional and treats the class like a job. I really enjoyed her class and I learned a lot of things I didn't know. She has great stories about people involved in business careers. She really brings the subject to life.

personal finance was too easy. She is the ideal candidate for the job. If you want to take Personal Finance take her class. P.s Not once did I open the textbook she requests.

To be honest she isn't hard but she has a lot of heft homework packets. There is a homework packet due that really screwed me up because I was also taking Calc at the time. Those packets are really time consuming but easy. She is a great prof but she does go bit too fast on powerpoint slides. She is a great teacher but the work is time consuming.

Bus 17, This course is VERY useful! If you choose to pay attention, you will come out a smarter overall person! She keeps it simple. Read the chapter before you come to class life is easy.

Ms. Som de Cerff got a long work experience and she included her experiences into the business lectures, so it is very interesting to hear. Her exams are straight forward, so as long as you read textbook, you can pass. I definitely recommend her to everyone.

Professor Som de Cerff is a teacher that demonstrate the concept of teaching and learning from both point of view. I was amazed at the control of the learning environment provided. Any unhealthy tactic to disrupt the learning abilities for students was immediately addressed for correction. This Professor returned the true meaning of a teacher.

Melissa Som de Cerff is an amazing professor. I took her Introduction to Business course. She reviews what is going to be on the test a week before, which helped me to get an A. She has a sense of humor and makes the class interesting. You are sure to pass her class if you do what's right; i.e., study, participate, and show up on time.

Professor Som de Cerff really cares, she actually want you succeed. She's had a ton of real life experience that she will gladly share with you. She will empower you to step outside your comfort zone and shoot higher. I took the road less traveled and landed a great job.

Homework can be annoying but not too hard. A lot of online weekly chapter reading/quiz. Many papers will be single spaced size 12. Tests are mild but I always got no lower than 95% on test scores. However, there are plenty of study guides and help such as Si class. Teacher is actually a great person. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!

She is nice teacher and cares her students a lot. Her lectures are easy to understand and her hw help students to understand the lectures. She provides a study guide before exams so you know what to cover for exams. I totally recommend her classes.

She is the best. If you do not understand a concept she will explain it to you until you do. Online work is required and it's easy to fall behind so just consistent with that. I would highly recommend her.

She is an amazing and knowledge professor. I am glad that I chose her. It's really easy to get an A in her class if you pay a little attention. Though there are many exams, they are easy. Just follow her study guidelines, and you will pass. There are a few times credit opportunities as well. I finally end up getting over 100% in the class.

I've taken Professor Som de Cerff three times, and I've concluded that she is the most caring straight forward professor I have met on this journey in obtaining my degree. She really wants you to succeed. The best part of taking exams with her is that you know exactly what's expected of you, and she prepares you for the exams. NO funny business!!

Som De Cerff is honestly one of my favorite professors, she is so nice and caring! Not much homework, its all on canvas it only takes about 20 minutes to complete and its an easy 25 points! If you want to do well on the test all you have to do is just pay attention and read the notes. She is willing to help you do well and succeed.

Professore Som de Cerff is easily one of the best professors I have had. She always makes class interesting and jokes around with her students. Only thing to worry about is she reads off definitions so you kind of have to write fast. Luckily everything she tells you is in the book and she gives you a study guide so it is very easy to pass the class

Som de Cerff is a good professor. She made sure her students got the material. Homework wasn't too much of a problem. One thing I didn't really like was the notes, were all said so you kind of have to be a fast writer. And for her tests, she tells you what you need to study!

Easy A. 5 tests (50 multiple choices), 5 HW, 5 pop quizzes--all easy. Lectures based off textbook. Read & know the concepts & vocab. 1 easy project (individual, you can choose topic). Reviews in class before tests. Ask her anything, she's very understanding if you have trouble with a due date. Humorous and chill. Definitely take her!

Som de Cerff was an excellent teacher and I learned alot in the class. Not hard to get an A. She does take attendance. 5 exams, quizzes, assignments. Study guides were perfect - not extra stuff and nothing left out either. I would totally recommend her.

Som de Cerff know her stuff in HR. Good activities that seem like real life situations. You need to complete assignments each week just like if you have a regular in person class. Online is probably harder than in person because you HAVE TO read the book and do the work. I learned alot and will DEFINITELY take her again.

I think students should definitely take Bus 17 from Som de Cerff. I go to office hours almost weekly and she explains everything to me again. I didn't know how to fix my credit and she helped me. Yes you have to do the work ans study. This isn't an easy A but worth the effort. Study guide is fine. She tells you exactly what is on the exam.

Som De Cerff is a fantastic professor. She is very knowledgeable and communicates clearly. She is easy to approach and was responsive to my questions. As long as you do the work, you will learn a lot and do well in the class!

best bus 25 professor ever. she has the textbook in powerpoint on canvas so you won't be lost on the material she discusses in class. her tests are super easy because she gives us a study guide and it's also common sense. her homework can be a bit tough, but it's honestly all based off of lecture notes.

I took this as an online class so I CAN NOT tell you her teaching style, but I can tell you if you like a very organized teacher then she is a great choice. The class does not allow for slacking or getting behind. No papers but there are weekly assignments , quizzes , and test. You will like this class if you are interested in working in HR.

She does give 3-4 assignments per week in total, including the weekly quiz. The are 4 tests in total broken down by chapters. Overall not a self pacing class but not too bad. She did drop a few assignments in the end that no one did well, thats a bonus. Didnt really learn much directly from her but did learn a lot from the class itself!

One of the more useful classes I've taken. She taught me how to manage my financial life and counted as math requirement. I would recommend her and the class. Dont be lazy though.

Really taught me A LOT about personal finance, she definitely cares about her students. Go to her office hours for help & she will let you make up any work because she is so understanding that "life happens". However, she is very monotone and lectures tend to drag during class but she does try her hardest to milk out energy by giving us chocolate.

She is really caring. She does go through lectures pretty fast, but everything she talks about is in the book as well. With that being said, if you don't understand something just use the book and if you still don't understand then use her office hours. She is an individual that practices what she teaches and honestly that's amazing.

Gained alot in Bus 28. Resume, writing emails, and communicating in business all super useful. Teacher was great but you have to do the work. It's not hard really.

She is a very caring professor. She answers messages promptly. Its always there to help you. When I needed a letter of recommendation for a grant or for EOPS she always did it fast. Her lectures are very clear and easy to understand. You have to do all your work or you wont pass. If you don't do good is only because you did not put the effort.

Professor Som de Cerff is great, she gave lost of opportunity for extra credit & was generous with her grading on homework assignments. Her exams were easy if you made an effort to know the material. She is very encouraging & wants to see you succeed. Would highly recommend.

I liked Som De Cerff. Her style is easy but she has a lot of information. I read most of the book. I don't think exams are that hard. She has online office hours that work okay. No sure what the others are complaining about. She's cool.

Heavy loaded course but goes at a steady pace. Its very easy to fall behind so make sure to keep up. Her grading style is not too harsh and the course is not too difficult. Most of the class work is from the book, plus a couple exams and projects. This course requires a couple hours out of your week so be aware.

Good class and learned alot. Reasonable amount of work balanced thru out week. Weekly chapter reading and assignment. Do-able. Gives feedback and good with Canvas.

Fall semester was all online but worked out fine. Assignments were weekly. They make you read the material but it's not hard. I'd recommend the class online or hybrid. Exams made you review but didn't kill you. She's a good teacher.

I was a % away from a B but overall the professor was amazing. Her assignments allow you to interact with your overall goal of actually learning what its like to work in a human resource management environment. She also teaches you what a company should(not) do. It's a great class as long as you pay attention and watch/read the resources provided!

Professor Som de Cerff is a great teacher. She is flexible, caring, and understanding. She does have weekly assignments & quizzes due,but some of the quizzes are not timed and assignments are not difficult to do as long as you watch the videos and read the textbook. The textbook could be found online or in book format. You will learn in this class.

She is a great teacher, on top of her grading. You never have to guess, or wait too long, what your grade might be. You get a few assignments a week. She gives you the entire week to complete the work. Easy to get a hold, response quickly as well.

She was a pleasure to learn from. She is clear on grading criteria and gives guidelines on what to look out for when doing assignments. Quizzes and exams are very easy and come from the reading and also relate to mini quizzes and assignments. Do not expect to get an easy A if you are not willing to put in the work and effort, but you'll learn alot.

An amazing teacher all round. Assignments are weekly and connected to the exams and quizzes. If you do the work you will breeze through the tests and exams. Her grading criteria is clear, not much else to say workload is manageable would strongly recommend.

6/2022 Spring. Online Bus 25, Intro to business. Great class. She is very caring and kind. Great class. Do all assignments. Attendance is done in the modules, don't forget. We use publisher online book material. It's a lot, so plan your time well. I would take her again. If you do all the work and extra credit pass you test, you will pass :-)

Just finishing winter term. Lectures are recorded and follows the text and quizzes. No surprises. There is homework online and written assignments. It's Bus 101, not that difficult. Super possible to get an A but need to earn it. Prof helped me out when I reached out to her. Showing up to office hours is a good way to reach out.

Good prof. Videos were good length for online leture. Class is not that hard. Covers lot of parts of business which was interesting.

Took Fall '22. Easy A if you study and pay attention in lectures. Gave some extra credit opportunities, a bit fast paced but overall pretty good professor. Doesn't give much homework, but be prepared for the given homework to be pretty time consuming.

Favorite professor. Seems to genuinely enjoy teaching and giving lectures. Tests were always easy as long as you paid attention in class and took notes. Gives extra credit every once in a while. Felt like I actually learned something in this class.

One of the best professors I've taken, she's very straight forward and matter of fact, but she's very geniuine and relatable. She's not fake unlike some of the professors I've taken. Very flexible and an extremely easy grader, I'll be honest I didn't study for a single test in her class and I still got an A. Very small workload as well.

She may seem strict at first, but does genuinely care about her students and allows leeway for personal situations. The textbook is necessary for all physical homework. You will get through the whole book. She grades pretty easily on homework, just make sure to study for the tests.

Professor Som de Cerff's class was daily readings with going through chapters every other day, accelerated due to it being a Winter course, although it was accelerated she made it to being manageable. Class is very informative with workplace communications and material that is practical. Great class!!!

Really straight forward class. Just do the notes, which is just vocabulary from the book, then make flashcards to study for the test. You have to do one 5 min presentation about a current event in relation to one of the chapters. Super easy. She just kinda monotone and has little tude but just don't be on your phone.

This was my first business class, and it was a great experience. She's a bit monotone but gives very good information about business. The tests and assignments are very straight-forward and easy to complete.

Intro to Business was a great class - little bits of all things business. Class was hybrid- some in class lecture and some online. Good blend. Learned alot and no issues with grading. Everything clear. Would recommend to ElCo students.

Super sweet professor and pretty understanding. Doesn't have lockdown browser. The HW is graded by how much you got done which is nice. The assignments are pretty straightforward as well
