Professor Carr is one of the most helpful Professors at NSU. She motivates students to do better . She provides excellent feedback and responds in a timely manner. Very helpful and very pleasant.
Very nice teacher, helped me with an important assignment i forgot to submit on time. )
Professor Carr was great - a very clear grader and is extremely helpful when you need it.
This professor was amazing beyond all levels. I was a little skeptical on taking this professor because I did not find any reviews prior to taking the class on her. But, I took a leap on faith and it was GREAT. You will have to read a good amount but if you read you will do well in the classes. Assignments are pretty straight forward. Easy A!
Highly recommend taking her if you're needing to take Business Writing WRIT 3150. She will work with you to help you obtain the highest grade possible and is always available via email.
She loves giving students an opportunity for extra credit. Completing this review counts as extra credit. Be sure to buy or rent the required book. It will be used for weekly homework assignments. She's super cheerful and loves laughing.
This professor wants students to do their best and is very understanding of the stress many students are trying to deal with. They will encourage you to think for yourself and find a topic that allows you to do so. If you can't make it to office hours, go to the comp fellows. It's also extra credit if you meet with the fellow.
A fantastic professor that helped me get better at writing assignments.
Really an excellent professor, she is very willing to help the students. She always went to classes in a great mood. If you do all the work following her instructions, together with her collaboration, it should not be difficult getting a good grade. If I could take her again in other class I will definitely go for it with out thinking it twice.
Ms. Carr is a great professor. Sometimes it takes her a little long to reply to emails but when she does, she is very helpful and explains every assignment very clear. she also likes giving little assignments for extra credit. Would definitely take another class with her.
Ms. Carr is by far the best professor I had in my life. She's so much fun to have in class and it motivates me to complete my assignments as soon as possible. I consider her very helpful with all my assignment and leaves great feedback. She also has a lot of time to spare with her students and she creates a one-on-one connection.
Awesome teacher.
Ms. Carr is a very interesting teacher, with a more straight forward class that is both easy to take and understand.
Awesome teacher. (:
I would like to give to Ms. Carr the highest rating. She was very helpful. The information that she provided during the class was excellent, I was able to learn a lot, among the things that I noticed in my self is that my writing skills were tremendously improved this semester. She motivates us to reach our goals with a great support.
Great teacher, explains everything well and gives extra credit. all you have to do is show up and you will pass.
Ms. Carr will be your BEST professor all semester. Don't miss out you better pick her class quick. It fills up fast.
Ms. Carr is a great professor, she really cares for her students, she really gives opportunities to build up your grade and do well in her class, I had an unexpected family situation and my grades was down the hill because I was very depress and thanks to Ms. Carr I was able to stand up and re-do some of my work, best prof. ever, Don't change Carr
Professor Carr is a very good teacher. However, I wouldn't recommend taking her if you're not planning on working hard to get a good grade. LITR 2020 was a nice class to take, however, like I said, you've got to put a lot of effort into it in order to do well.
Professor Carr really cares about students. She is willing to help and gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit, but get ready for some serious reading and lots of work. I will definitely take her again.
If you do not like a lot of work then do not take this class. It is hard and time consuming. She is a tough grader but she tries to level it out by giving you extra credit which can really save your life. Over all not a bad class!
Ms. Carr is a great teacher- lots of room for extra credit. Basically, if you just do your work and show effort, you'll most likely get an A or a B. I did this class online in half the time, so there was lots of work but it was to be expected. Just read the book and you'll be fine.
Mellissa Carr is one of the most encouraging Professors i have ever had. I appreciated how she was always checking in on us every week even though it was an online class; she was very involved. And her feedback is very helpful. It is a lot of reading and work in a short time, so be prepared. Extra credit comes if you do what you're supposed to.
Great at helping students with more opportunities to improve grade.
If you're not good at literature I recommend taking Professor Carr's class as there are many chances to get extra credit. However, she is a tough grader and sometimes her work isn't as specific so I do recommend asking as many questions as possible. Overall though, it's a great online course to take, just be ready to read and write a lot.
Please, please read the syllabus, everything you need is on there. Yes, you need the book for this online class. Every week you will have homework and discussions assigned, at times its a lot . Team up with someone in the class cause sometimes she isn't the best at explaining things. Extremely difficult at grading.
Under the circumstances that it was an 8 week class, it is indeed a lot of work. Professor is willing to help students, sends out check-in messages, fairly quick to respond to emails. Professor is very specific and a tough grader. Setup of the class allows students to be organized and stay on task. Weekly if not daily participation is required.
This class was extremely challenging. The syllabus was a bit unclear. Tough grader, with little feedback.
I love how class was really lose and we had a chance to truly voice our opinion. If we believed it we can say it. There is nothing she should change about the course i took!
There isn't that much homework, and if there is, it's for you to use in your future papers that you have to write. I only had to write three papers for this class, which isn't a lot but that also means that you have to write them well. She does give lots of extra credit, especially for turning your work in early.
She is a great teacher, respects students, and gives reasonable amount of homework.
Her class was one of my favorites this semester! Her assignments were very reasonable, and she was always giving extra credit! She gave very good feedback, and was always quick to answer questions. If I have the chance to, I will definitely be taking her again, and I would recommend her to everyone!
i dislike structured writing but the teacher was awesome, that is the only reason this course was manageable. loved the presentations hated the papers. her teaching method was sound and despite the difficulty of the subject she was very understanding and supportive.
I liked how many assignments we had, but also how they fed into one another to make the final paper much easier and we were already prepared. However, I wish there was more one on one time with the professor to work on our own specific writing rather than most of the feedback coming from other students.
Not the usual help that most professors give. Doesn't given clear enough instructions
Supper cool teacher glad I had taken this class, she is very up beat and after a long day at work it was great.
She is a great professor. Always available and willing to help you. You really learn a lot in her class and if you study and attend all her classes you will do fine.
her way of presenting the materials are good. she can make you understand hard things. but, there are many assignments. the book she used is useless.
I would take her again and again, until I finish.
Shes a great teacher and she is very understanding and fexible she should not change anything about that the only thing I feel needs to be changed is that we did not use the book, that was a waste of my money.
she is such a nice professor. she gives kind of more assignments. but the good thing that if you study you will get an A easily.
The professor is really helpful; you get a lot of time to write papers and to submit projects in general. Attendance is not necessarily mandatory, but you do get credit for showing up. I recommend taking her if you do not feel comfortable writing, you will get tons of feedback and time to improve.
I liked the Professor, she was really nice and always willing to help and explain any question we had. She gave good examples while explaining each topic and also gave us chance to get extra credits doing any other activity. .
She is an amazing teacher, she gives excellent feed back. She really cares and makes sure you understand each assignment.
GREAT teacher. She's understanding, caring, definitely wants you to do well. She gives you a chance to get extra credit in pretty much every assignment. She tries to make the class fun and lively by cracking jokes. She shows videos to help you understand better so that its not a boring lecture. She's honestly amazing. Wish she taught 1500 in fall
chill teacher, doesn't give much homework but expects you to do it when given. Her lectures are important!
She really makes the class interesting. Take her , she's patient and will take her time to explain stuff to you.
If you do everything she says to do then you will be fine and will get an A.
the best professor I have had. It is fun to go to class and she is fair with grades. If you do the work (which is not much) you'll get a good grade!
Very understanding. At first, I thought she was too active and speechless. So I was not sure if I could handle the class. As class went on, I started enjoying the professor. However, sometimes, I did not understand the assignments, but she is cool if you ask her to explain it more. Would take her again for sure!
Mellissa Carr is amazing! She is very understanding, an absolute riot in class and will NOT let you fail. Do. The. Freaking. Assignments. EVERYTHING is a completion grade. Do the work. Get an A.
Don't skip you won't pass.
Professor Carr is very funny but also insistent on how her class be taken. It is a "process" heavy course, so you have to do all the steps.
If you do what you are supposed to do, your grade will be good.
She was a great overall teacher. Makes it easy to understand the material and what is expected. The only thing I did not like was the main topic of the course. "What does language mean to me" I did not find it interesting and it made the class harder due to the fact that all of the papers and assignments were based off of this question.
Overall, she is a great professor. She's very enganged and personable. But you suffer the consequences if you don't make it to class.
Mellissa is great with caring about her students and making sure they do well in her class. She takes the extra step in her job, and schedules interviews with us to talk about our assignments, gives us time to work on things in class, and asks us how were doing in AND out of the classroom.
She is a very nice teacher. She makes you feel right at home. Easy to talk to. Gives very good feedback. Grading is fair.
I love my Monday evening classes. Normally I would hate evening class but this was an entertaining class she is amazing at keeping it interesting. She's fair grading and enjoys teaching the class so it made the class fun. I would not change a thing!
She is great at having a good discussion. The only drawback is that she has to work on being less sporadic. She also gets off topic super fast and has to work on staying focused. She also likes to complain a lot about her life and it can make you uncomfortable if you don't like being so open.
Does offer a few extra credit options through out the semester. There is usually some type of assignment due every class so you have to keep up with the syllabus and canvas. Assignments are not very difficult, as long as you do the required work with effort you will get a good grade. Book was used in the beginning of semester
She makes sure that all of her students understand her and are on the same page.
Professor Carr is amazing and willing to work with you if you show effort. I honestly don't like writing but she make me want to write. I love how she break down the essay. She has a writing tutor that come in every class in case you need help with your writing. Trust me when I say take her she make writing easy and understandable
Very funny professor. She makes sure you stay engaged during the class and gives numerous extra credit opportunities. It is hard to do poorly in the class. Makes understanding the writing process easy and is very open to questions. However don't procrastinate her assignments or else the work will pile up fast.
She is very funny
fun teacher
I have enjoyed Miss Carr's class this semester. She is very kind and understanding. If I had any problems with any assignments she would answer me efficiently and promptly. She makes the class lively and inviting. There's no way you can get below a B in this class unless you really try to fail.
Professor Carr sets up the class for you to succeed. She is outgoing, funny, friendly, and dedicated to helping her students with a step by step process to pass. Homework is weekly. The only way you fail is if you consistently do not work on the homework and put no effort in. She answers emails quickly.
Professor Carr understands our workload and wants you to pass. As long as you complete assignments according to the rubric, you should be getting an A!
Great overall teacher. She gives her students lots of leniency as long as work is completed. If you don't like writing that much and are looking for a good professor i suggest taking her.
I wasn't sure about her the first day, but after I got to know her I loved her. She is very understanding of her students.
During the class, Madame Carr made sure to walk each student through the process of writing a research paper with relevant reading topics sent home to assist in ease of understanding.
Professor Carr is very understanding and respectful when assisting students with help. Inside and outside the classroom, Ms. Carr is quick and very helpful. Definitely recommend this professor, great teacher.
Professor Carr really cares about her students, and is really willing to work with you! She does a really good job with grading and giving feedback on papers. I wouldn't ask her to add anything, her lectures and individual presentations we do are so helpful in completing this course successfully. She is very passionate about research and writing.
I loved this professor. She did an amazing job helping us through every step of the writing process. I would definitely recommend taking her again for any class possible. I also enjoyed the incorporation of the Multi-Modal project, this helped me enjoy the journey of writing my paper.
Do not change the curriculum! Comp2000 is a complex class, but with Carr, she ensured that her students understand what they are writing and why its important to them. This class was all about the process, so you couldnt really slack per se.
I really liked taking this course, and usually I don't like going to class. Ms. Carr really does well with explaining assignments by giving specific details and online examples for us to refer to. The best part of this course would be the welcoming learning environment she provides for us with a positive attitude. I wouldn't change anything at all!
Ms. Carr is amazing! She is a very helpful professor who makes learning rand writing a fun process. She always makes jokes and makes her students her #1 priority! I would recommend her to anyone!
Professor Carr is an engaging teacher, who truly takes the time to thoroughly explain the material/assignments. At first, I was surprised by her super bubbly, humorous personality, but by the end of the second class I felt super comfortable as her student. One of my favorite aspects of this class was timeline for assignments--easy and organized!
Professor Carr is great and really breaks down the course material so it is manageable and clear to understand. Would highly recommend!
Carr is a really great professor. She cares a lot about your actual research and you making it great.
Ms. Carr was an awesome instructor. She is very neutral with assigning porjects and is completely invested into her students. She is HILARIOUS! Makes you feel like you're actually a student, not somebody who pays $$$ to just get the degree. She is very accessible outside of class, likes to use Google Voice/Hangout, Skype, etc...
Carr has a great approach towards teaching, and she uses her outside research in the classroom to give the students the best experience while still maintaining an effective learning environment.
Very disorganized, deadlines unrealistic, needs assistant to help her with organization.
Favorite professor. Encourages the use of TikTok. She always tells funny stories.
so much fun but also helps out a lot.
The best prof I've had so far.
This class was a breeze! Easy papers and easy ways to keep grades high. No tests! the only thing that was annoying was the discussion boards on paradoxes, they were pointless and excessive.
She is an amazing professor and is really passionate about what she is teaching . Really flexible and understanding with assignments, would recommend to anyone!
Will take time aside to clear up any confusion. Works towards helping you understand and learn. Easy to ask question to. Friendly.
Ms. Carr was an awesome professor, I really liked taking this course. I would definitely recommend taking her again for any class possible.
Dr. Carr is a very sweet professor that is flexible with grades.
Dr. Carr is a solid professor. Most of the work can be knocked out in class. Majority of assignments are completion; only final drafts are graded by rubric. Engaging lectures. She gives a 10 minute break halfway through class, those are awesome!
Shes super understanding and a pretty good teacher.
Great Professor!
great course. it was very simple and straight forward, I would take her again. the workload is not crazy but enough to keep you busy if you wait for the night before.
There is going to be lots of reading and writing outside of what you learn in class but Dr. Carr is very accessible so any concerns that you may have, she is quick to respond.
Dr. Carr was a great professor. Course is straightforward. Module explanation videos were also very helpful and funny as well. She was very helpful when asking questions through remind. Do not wait last minute to do assignments.
This class was terrible, despite what these other reviews say I didn't care for this professor although she was a very nice lady. She is extremely unorganized and that makes the class hard. Deadlines are also enforced and she gives no feedback
Dr. Carr is a caring professor, she does not give much work. Due dates and assignments are reasonable, if you do happen to receive a bad grade she allows you time to correct your assignment. I would definitely recommend!
I enjoyed the class overall
She never tells you the grading rubric and takes points off for insignificant mistakes
Dr. Carr is a great professor, but I wouldn't say I like the homework explanation videos. Discussion and interaction with other students are required. She's a tough grader, but it puts one in the right direction for future assignments. There is an extra credit at the end.
Great class just do your work and dont do it on the due date to it before.
Amazing professor
Lots of work but also lots of chances to increase grade
Dont take this class a lot of papers, strict on due dates and doesnt give help on anything
An amazing professor I definitely would love to have her again.
Assignments don't make much sense, either does she. Lots of work, strict deadlines, all the while learning nothing. Just take another professor. It will be worth it, even if its not as convenient.
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. Never answers emails, texts, or any form of communication. Very inconsiderate and never explains anything. If you want to get through your semester without stress and anxiety, I would recommend staying far far away from this teacher.
This class has a lot of work, but if you don't leave everything for last minute then you should be fine. Dr. Carr is a really good professor and she has always helped me whenever I needed it. She gives good feedback and chances to resubmit work and get extra credit.
Is a class that requires lot of work and dedication. It's essential for you to be on top of deadlines and participate on the discussion. Overall, I thing is class that really helps you improve your writing and improve your skills to gather information for research papers.
Dr. Carr is great! She knows how to be open to her students and the ability to communicate with her is super easy because of Remind! She's an overall great professor.
Amazing professor!
Make sure to try to follow the rubric for the assignments as much as possible and capitalize on your ability to make revisions because it can help or hurt your grade in the long run.
Great professor who gives very specific feedback on how to improve your writing. With that being said, the workload is pretty tough and you must balance your time if you want a good grade. In addition, the directions are pretty general, leaving you to take it upon to learn the material.
Professor Carr was amazing and answered every single RemindText I sent. She's a great professor! I would definitely take her class again, given the chance.
RUN!! Although I have taken this professor for only a few days, I can say she is by far one of the least communicative professors I have ever had- and its an ONLINE course! I contacted her several times to get info about syllabus & assignments due- no response. Her instructions for assignments are unclear and she's quick to take points off.
Do not take this teacher for an online course. She gives very unclear and vague instructions for the majority of assignments. She is very difficult to access, rarely if ever responds to texts/emails. The class itself is not too difficult, it is a lot of writing but not overwhelming.
Dr. Carr always gave constructive feedback to improve my writing. Assignments can feel challenging, but if you put in the work you will be fine. She also has video explanations that answer a lot of questions you may have.
I took the online course. You get quite a bit of homework every week, but aslong as you are listening to the 5min recordings ur good to go, and its fairly clear what you need to do, and homework isnt too hard to do. She explains pretty well in the recordings but if you still have doubts she responds to messages rather quickly.
Dr. Carr's class this semester was pretty easy going. She provides all the assignments for the semester so you can complete at any time. She does explain each assignment, and provides student examples, but if you are confused just go to the wring and communication center, you get extra credit for going anyway.
In my opinion, I would not take this class again or the professor again. Grading was very harsh and also she was very late to grade things. She doesn't respond until a few days after the assignment. On assignments, she tells us to do one thing and then tells us to do another thing after she grades it. Things need to get fixed
I took Dr. Carr for COMP 1500 online course. In which I learned so many valuable aspects to improve my writing. Dr.Carr has been a great professor and has always been amazing at answering my questions in a prompt manner. You can definitely tell Dr.Carr cares for every one of her students and I would recommend anyone in taking her class.
Dr. Carr gives a lot of work however does a good job of explaining things on the weekly videos. I thought she was quite a harsh grader, but if you do your work on time you can resubmit for a better grade. This class taught me a lot and I enjoyed it!
Dr. Carr is a tough grader but she does give feedback and you are able to resubmit assignments. I took her online for COMP1500 and if you need help on an assignment, you have to make sure you ask ahead of time because she takes at least 1-2 days to respond. However, she's overall pretty nice and chill, just stay on top of assignments.
Overall Professor Carr is a good teacher to take for Comp 1500, but by no means is the coursework itself is easy.
Mrs. Carr was a good teacher for Comp 1500. Being online was a bit of a challenge though for understanding directions on assignments.
Professor Carr is a good professor as long as you reach out to her if you are struggling. She accepts late work for most assignments except discussion questions for 1/2 credit and no revisions.
