There are weekly discussions using the book. There are also a few essays that will comprise to be a big final essay at the end. Topics are usually around identity.

AMAZING PROFESSOR!!!! As there are a few papers, she gives you multiple chances to change your grade, so many extra credit options, great feedback and grades generously. I would highly recommend taking her class.

I took this class my junior year in high school. She is by far one of the best professors I have ever heard. She is very clear with her assignments and is more than happy to help with any questions you have. There is a lot of writing assignments, but it is worth it. She's always willing to help when you don't understand, and she consistently gives an outline on projects and simples from other students from her previous class to show you what she's looking for in your paper and how to format your essay as well. Professor Carr was amazing. I took ENC1102 online in the 5 week summer class. She made a time consuming class a breeze. She breaks up the final research paper into sections which makes it feel less daunting rather than doing it all once. She gives SO many points in extra credit. The only way you would not finish with an A is if you did nothing.

Professor Carr was wonderful. She was patient, respectful and had a fun way of explaining the material. Her projects were interwoven, which made the class a lot more enjoyable. Highly recommend you take her for any composition class. Even with the condensed summer classes. Just a warning, you will have to put work in, but it will be well worth it.

I took the online class so it was a lot of work in a short time but the work was pretty easy and she gives so much extra credit that it is impossible to fail.

I took ENC1101 online. I'm a math person, not English. Dr. Carr really wants you to do well and will help you if you need it. The assignments are easy to do, and they literally help you to write your papers. Easy grader for assignments and tougher on the papers, but you could literally still have an A on bombing the papers. And there's extra credit

Dr. Carr is a great professor truly, she is very caring and ready to help. It is a tough class though don't get me wrong. I took it for Summer A so it was a bit more fast-paced, but you definitely work for your grade. She successfully made me a better writer because she gives harsh but good feedback. I had to take this class online because I could not meet in person because of COVID. The online format that she had set up was very clear and organized. She had an explanation video set up for each module telling us what to do. I wish we didn't have to get the book because we only used it for a couple of discussion posts. Overall good.

Make sure to be on top of your stuff, there is a course sheet that will keep you on track, and set aside time for this class to just sit there and knock as many assignments out at the beginning so you don't stress yourself throughout the class. She grades tough but you have plenty chances to do extra credit and get your grade back up.

I took the 6 week accelerated course and she is a good teacher you just have to work on your assignments ahead of time. There is no working on it same day, since In order to do the assignment right you will have to follow everything especially the rubric to a T. No late work allowed so try your hardest to meet deadlines. Other than that, it was ok.

I honestly didn't expect what came out of this class, and often over thought what was asked, but she is a great professor. I took her over the summer A, and although accelerated if you turn your assignments early before the due date shell often give you feed back so that you can correct any mistakes.

I took ENC1102 online over summer for a short semester. I had to keep on top of my work but it was still do-able. I work full time and I have a full course load so as long as you work hard you will get a good grade. She always gives opportunity for extra credit. She will grade your work early if you turn it in early so you can revise it.

This online class is very fast paced and you need to be on top of your assignments. Follow the directions and watch her explanation videos for each assignment. Complete your work early to receive feedback from the teacher, then you are usually allowed to resubmit for a better grade. Overall, this class is enjoyable compared to other english classes

Great professor. Definitely a challenging curriculum with a lot of assignments but it is to be expected with a 6 week course. No tests. Gives videos to watch so you understand each assignment. Definitely take this course. I also took ENC 1101 with her online

She demands a lot of time, but she warns you before hand to prepare yourself. All of her work is easy enough and she gives a lot of explanations and examples. I enjoyed this class but beware to be ready to work :)

Took a 6 week course online and would not suggest taking this short of a course. There was a lot of work in a short period of time. She was a great teacher though and I would suggest taking any of her regular classes, she provides lots of feedback and sets you up with remind at the beginning of the semester making it super easy to text with her!

Even though there is a lot of work in this class, it was one of the most fun classes I've taken. You can reach Dr. Carr any time via the Remind app, and she does not slack on her responses. She also has recorded explanations for every assignment that explains everything you would need to know. This class has very clear and non-confusing deadlines.

My second time taking this class first time not so great experience , this time i came across professor Melissa Carr. The way she splits things up and in the end it all comes together and makes writing so much easier and she gives extra credit you won't regret taking her. AMAZING

This was difficult and I expected it to be this way. I was not looking forward to it, but I had no choice. This helped me become a better writer, thinker and pay attention to detail. Must pay attention to the modules and dates assignments are due, as well as listen to her description videos. If you do, you will get through it and learn!

Great Professor

Dr. Carr does not include a lot of time consuming assignments throughout the course which gives plenty of time to focus on the research paper. She is also very easy to reach through the Remind app. She gives lots of extra credit too. Had to purchase a book that we only ended up reading a few chapters out of, and we know these books are not cheap.

Loves the class, at times the explanation videos are a little vague. However, if you reach out to her, she will explain everything in detail, TONS of extra credit opportunities !!!

I took Dr. Carr's online English 1101 class. I loved that the whole class was outlined for you. You knew from day one what and when things were due. This made it so much easier for me as I work full-time as well as being a full-time student. There is a lot of writing but this is an English class and it should be expected.

She is really laid back. She does give out a lot of assignments, but she gives great explanations on how to do it and provides a lot of helpful resources on the way (and the assignments are not that difficult). Just follow the instructions and submit them on time, and you should get an easy A. Just make sure you have time for everything.

She is a pretty good professor. As long as you put in effort she will meet you half way. She gives good feedback on assignments and sets pretty good expectations. The only thing I don't understand is that the she tends to give 0s when things are incorrect instead of giving partial credit which can be annoying esp. for something that took hours

Overall this class has been very helpful in preparing me for college classes. Professor Carr is very nice and does care for her students as shown with the extra credit and ability to redo assignments. This Professor has a very structured and rigorous class. She does give you the chance to redo papers you turn in on time. Make sure you have the time to keep up with the strict class timeline. I took the online summer class. If you do this make sure you can give at least 12 hours a week for this class. She is a tough grader who will punish you if you don't do something perfect. The biggest problem with the class is the strange due dates and the lack of clarity in what she wants you to do for her assignments. THIS IS A HARD CLASS!

As far as the Summer 6 week crunch, it was hard, but do-able. Dr. Carr has videos that explains each module, but if you listen to those recordings and read each lesson carefully you can figure out the assignments. My tip is to always stay ahead, give yourself a couple days in advance to start working on the assignments and you'll get a good grade.

Assignments are clearly explained and resources are provided for you. The textbook is technically required but she provides the necessary chapters from the book as PDFs for you.

If you're not that good at English take her, just do the work and you get an A!

Professor Carr is a great and understanding professor, and she's clear about her instruction.

This was my first duel enrollment class as a sr in high school and I am so glad I was able to take her class. She didn't lose her patience with me trying to navigate the platform and was really responsive with all my questions. She is very realistic in her assignments and really challenges you to think outside the box.

Prof. Carr does a great job laying out the course so it build up to the final paper, working regularly on a weekly basis should get you to have your final paper 50% to 75% ready by the time you need to start working on your final draft.

Her modules are organized, and she gives good feedback. My only issue was keeping up with the discussion board. there was a good 10 that were due in one day and I overwhelmed myself with that.

The way the professor organized the syllabus made it easy to follow and be prepared for every assignment. I think the professor made it this way to push yourself without being overwhelmed. i wouldn't change anything from it, it is perfectly structured.

Dr. Carr is a great teacher. She gives good feedback and cares about the authenticity of our writing. Definitely stay on top of due dates and communicate with Dr. Carr to earn a good assessment.

Dr. Carr encourages communication through text via Remind and I honestly wish that I had used this particular resource more. Pay special attention to the steps in each video; they are extremely helpful to understand exactly what is expected of you. Overall, Dr. Carr delivers an excellent course with clear and detailed instructions and support.

The professor takes a couple days to get back to you and grade your papers, but besides that she's considerate of due dates to make sure you have time to finish and redo any work. The course was very time consuming, but as long as you are willing to put in the time you should be fine.

Professor Carr was definitely a hard grader. I would recommend taking her only if you are willing to put in the time to complete her assignments. It does take her up to 2 days to sometimes respond to any questions or concerns you may have on any material.

Dr. Carr is extremely knowledgeable and caring. She is very clear of her expectations, outlines the class in steps and it is very easy to follow, but also easy to fall behind. If you do poorly, she provides excellent feedback and she will give you the opportunity to redo assignments. Don't be lazy, word hard, and you'll pass.

The class is hard however, the extra credit and other grades help boost your grade as long as you're willing to put in the time. As long as you have time and are thorough you shouldn't have an issue with the class.

She is very delightful to have her as a professor. My only complaint is that she doesn't write back moments when you need to, but she also does give extra credit and gives you the opportunity to re-summit your work if is missing something.

Professor Carr was amazing! It was an accelerated course so it was a lot, a lot of work but she is very understanding with potential issues you may have. Her grading is fair and she gives good feedback. Wouldn't say its an easy class you can just cruise through, but that's only because of the amount of work. But if you do the work, you'll do well.

I took the 6-week class and it was a lot, a lot of work due very soon. Although, she is an understanding teacher who communicates with her students and responds quickly.

Great teacher responds fast going to take for English 2. Only thing is that her directions can very hard to understand and her grading is rough. If you get one thing wrong its a 0 but your allowed to redo the assignments for better credit so it evens out over time. Over all fully recommend the teacher.

If you don't have the ability to commit enough time to her course though, I don't suggest taking her 6-week course, only because it is relatively fast-paced, and can feel overwhelming if not paced.

If you have a busy schedule I would not do the express class as its a big time commitment. Overall i recommend taking Dr. Carr for this course.

Mellissa Carr is one of the nicest professors I have ever met. The only thing I have to say is make sure you learn how to read for her lectures because there will be a lot of group activities in class. so, make sure you prepare for class although this is not a lot of essays in class, it doesn't mean you don't have a lot of homework assignments.
