She has huge good curves on tests and in the class (I have a 63% but it's a B). She is very clear and a very nice person always willing to help you. Highly recommended!

Class is a little confusing, especially online portion. It's also very hard, especially for those of us not good with physics, but the teacher is VERY willing to help students.

She is a very good teacher and the class was really easy. There are massive curves on the first 2 tests (like 10-15 points). The final is optional to replace the lowest test grade and the lowest couple quizzes and homeworks are dropped. Open book tests and quizzes also. I would definagely recommend

not a bad teacher, but not an easy subject. tests arent too bad, as long as you study the book material also, because she doesnt cover everything on her tests in class. DO THE HOMEWORK! It's easy points that will help your grade.

She was great. She has an awesome personality, very very willing to help, and generally attempted to make the class interesting. Most importantly, the tests she gives are so mind-bogglingly easy (AND they are open-book tests!!), you should get an easy A with hardly any effort. So far, probably my fav. class I've taken at UNR.

Hard subject, good teacher. Very willing to help. Easy class if you do the EC quizzes and homework. Should be able to at least get a B if you don't slack too much.

OMG.. she does talk like kitty! lol. Class will not be the same now. Anyways, She is generally concerned with making sure students understand the material. She is willing to spend extra time in class to answer questions so the material is understood. Doing the hw definitely helps and going to class.

Yes it's true, it took me forever to finally figure out why that voice was so familiar! Kitty from that 70s show. Take her just to hear that voice, it's the exact same voice. and she kinda looks like her too. Her class is ok, you should pass it, no real comment on the class.

Nice professor, but didn't learn anything in the class. Talks to the board when writing notes so you don't even know what she's saying. When you sit on the wrong side of the class you don't know what she's writing at all until she moves to the side 5 minutes later and by then you have no idea what's going on. Not recommended.

One of the most accessible professors on campus, for she is the only professor, that I know of, that has office hours every day of the week. Her tests are fair (they are open book); they are composed mostly of the practice tests, the easier HW questions, and the optional online material.

Well,the best and worst part of the class are the online homeworks because you can cheat every week if you want and get all ten's so basically free points. Is hard if not very familiar with physics, only curved one test so far though. I found not enough time in class to really ask and answer questions just the examples she does on the board. I foun

Wow, this is my second time taking her and I can't believe how much my opinion has changed. GREAT TEACHER she is one of my favorite. I decided that if you care even a little about the class it becomes so much easier. THis semester she changed the homework so you can't cheat. She is cute and knows the subject willing to answer any questions in class

This class is boring i would suggest bringing a pillow so you dont hurt your head when you fall asleep. She seems to know what shes talking about but she takes everthing from the book. This class is pretty easy and she gives participation points to make it even easier.

I thought that she was an awesome teacher. She was very thorough and did plenty of examples. The online homework helps and you don't have to take the final if you are happy with your grade after the first three tests.

I think she is awesome. She cares about the students and is always willing to help. She teaches really well; however, her test are pretty challenging. You need to know both the theory and the math behind in order to pass the class with an “A” Great professor! I strongly recommend her.

Rodrigue is an excellent lecturer and master of her subject. She does indeed sound like Kitty from That 70's Show, but it's funny and you get used to it after a couple weeks. Her tests are kind of hard, but that just might be my disdain for physics. She is fairly straightforward in the lead up to exams, and is very helpful in and outside of class.

Amazing Teacher! She can explain the most complicated problems as well as the easier stuff as well. Weekly quizes where the whole class can help each other. If you can keep up with the study sessions then tests are a breeze.

She's a great professor. At first I thought she could be a little sarcastic, but she just genuinely wants you to understand the material. The homework is online and you can work with your classmates on the quizzes. I'd take any class she teaches!

She's very nice and makes the class fool-proof. She drops 2 hw's and 2 quiz grades at the end of the semester. Let's you have a note card for tests and the final is optional! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

A GREAT professor. Physics is a challenging subject, but she makes is easy to understand. Know the study guide problems, and problems she gives in class, you can't fail. She lets you use a 8x11 cheat sheet on the test! If you can't pass this class with at least a B then you're not trying. I'm terrible at math and I got an A.

Dr. Rodrigue is a fantastic teacher! She's always available to help a very fair grader. She does tend to focus a lot on the conceptual parts of physics (including on the tests) but she makes the class fun and easy. Quizzes are open-note,-book,-neighbor and she lets you use an 8x11 cheat sheet on the test! Amazing professor, take her if you can!!

I've heard that she is a great physics teacher, but I had her for Astronomy and she really wasn't very good. She was somewhat of a politician in that she never really answered questions very clearly and it left us all very confused come test day. She should probably just stick to physics. Very nice lady though

Teacher is very nice, class was not structured very well and used groups to complete work.class is 180 students crammed into a lecture hall and then asked to work in groups...it was redonkulous. Yea I said it! Not a bad class just be ready to read a lot. Her tests are concept based so if you dont get the meaning behind the reasoning forget it

attendance is mandatory, lectures are boring and if you don't understand a concept, good luck on the tests. Lots of group work, quizzes every thursday and four tests. You can drop the final if you are happy with your grade, which is nice. I wouldn't recommend unless you know a lot about astronomy. she teaches like we all know what she's saying

honestly, this may have been the easiest science class i've ever taken. If you don't like science this class is for you. you get to use a notecard for every test, and she goes over the review sheet she gives you the day before the test. you work in groups for everything, even the weekly quizzes, and the labs are simple yet pretty fun. Great class.

She is awesome. She loves the subject, and is very easy to understand. Her tests can be kind of tricky, but overall its simple. She doesn't make attendance mandatory per say but she has a sign in and random in class quizzes. I went most of the time, and the quizzes help your grade a lot. She also gives extra credit.

100 is a conceptual class, but don't let the 100 fool you. It's not a cake walk, class is a must. With that said, an A is very manageable. Never read the book. Study notes very well, tests are specific.

i am not a science major , took it as I had no other options in the summer. She is an ok teacher, you need to go and see a tutor for homework. She does not explain concepts well,exams are harder than what she covers in class.

Melodi is the sweetest teacher out there. I hate physics and find it extremely hard, but she couldn't have taught it more clearly. You take 4 tests and can drop the lowest grade. Her tests are kind of hard but the in-class labs are ridiculously easy and count for a huge portion of your grade. She lets you use 3x5 cards as a cheat sheet on the test

She was very good at lecturing, and very clear. The tests are hard, but as long as you attend the lecture, you should be fine. She made the material very interesting and the course was easy and fun. SI sessions are also helpful, so be sure to attend those as well. She was very nice and accessible. Homework is online and you get 10 tries a question.

BEST SCIENCE TEACHER EVER. I took Rodrigue for 151 and summer 152, and I am extremely glad I took her for both terms. She's extremely helpful and always willing to help students after class. Her lectures are clearer than air (crystals have significant refraction). She also makes sure that you understand the concepts, which will help you on the MCAT

She's a good teacher who gets the concepts across in a simple, graspable way. I only have one complaint: her class lacked rigor. If you're good at problem solving, if you want a challenge and if you're a bit masochist, I'd suggest taking the 180 series.

I've never taken a physics class before (not even in high school), and she made the class better than expected. Her lectures were decent and her exams were mediocre. She had a thing where you take the final and it'll replace the lowest grade of the first three exams. She also lets you use a notecard as a little cheat sheet.

Physics is a hard concept for most people so Rodrigue understands that with how she graded the class. Tests were very hard for me but study notes, homework, quizzes, go to SI and you'll be fine. Keep your quiz/hw and lab grade perfect or close to it and keep your test grades at B average and you won't have to take the final.

She's so nice and helpful! She has amazing handwriting that is easy to read and she explains things clearly. Physics is a hard subject to me, but she made the class bearable and she will always help you if you need it. She loves when her students visit, and her final is optional! The lab is super easy and boosts your grade.

This class is hard, especially for the non-math/physics major. She explains concepts and ideas clearly, but sometimes she rushes. It's not impossible to get an A. Do well on quizzes (which can be done with classmates, and you can also ask her for help), homework, and lab so that if you do screw up on exams, you'll end up with a B or even an A

Without a doubt, one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's clear and takes an extreme interest in ensuring the student understands physics. You are expected to work, but if you put forth the effort, you will pass with a very good grade. This is the teacher you want.

I don't understand all these high ratings. This class is difficult, even though it is for non physics majors and even straight A students I know dread this class. Her handwriting is super neat but her lectures and exams are terrible. She runs through the lectures and shows dislike toward opposing opinions. Study super hard and don't expect too much

Dr. Rodrigue just regurgitates information during lecture. Her examples are detailed in class, but prove to be nothing like test questions. There is usually a 5-10 point curve on each test. Lab, homework and quiz grades will help your grade a lot! I've had to seriously teach myself all the content. But, isn't that what a professor is for?

She is a great professor. Her in class demonstrations that show you how physics works are really cool. This class is HARD. But I still got a B despite getting a D and 2 C's on exams because the HW, Quizes, and Labs bump you up. Just Always do those and actually try and you'll be fine.

Rodrigue seems kind at first, however, if you ask for help she can be rather condescending. The exams are incredibly difficult and cover a large amount of conceptual ideas that were not really discussed in class. Not the worst teacher, but definitely not the best.

Physics is hard, so lots of students fail and blame the teacher. You have to work for it, but Dr. Rodrigue is VERY helpful. Her tests are curved. Final is optional. Weekly quizzes are open note and you can work with neighbors. Labs are done by diff TAs, but normalized in the end. Go to her office hours. You get a note sheet for the test too.

Professor Rodrigue is amazing! It's a given that physics is hard so the class is tough but you get out of it what you put in. She makes the lectures fun and interesting and she's super straight forward with her expectations. She is such a fair grader and genuinely wants you to succeed. I will take her for 152 positively! Professor Rodrigue is great. She has beautiful handwriting and helpful whiteboard drawings that make lecture easy. You get a free pass on 2 quizzes and HWs, and the tests are pretty simple. Group Quizzes once per week guarantee a "study group". Concepts in class, such as V^24x increase presented onlyin class are on tests. Final optional.

Physics is hard, the test are difficult. The homework can be difficult as well. The tests include a page of conceptual questions, page of short answer questions (1-2 equations needed) and 2 long answer questions (several equations needed). You have to spend several hours a week to do OK. Dont take this class with other difficult classes.

Super nice and wants you to do well. She knows her stuff and is able to explain it in a way that most students understand. Best 34 Exams (curved and you get a cheat sheet), weekly homework, weekly group quizzes, and lab makes up your grade. I absolutely hate physics and I passed with over 100%.

Got a 68 on the first test because I wasn't sure what to expect. After that I studied all the hw and study guides and quizzes and got A's on the next 2 tests. Ended up with an A in the class and didn't have ti take the final.

She does fun demonstrations in class. She explains topics fairly clearly, but if you don't understand it the first time, she struggles a little to explain it a different way. Gives homework every week that usually takes about half an hour to do. Quizzes every Friday. Optional final.

Since many people are terrible at physics, this is the professor you are going to want. Tests generally have a large curve, but don't rely on it too much. If she sees the class is doing very poorly, then she makes the upcoming tests easier (but that means there may be a smaller curve so watch out). Weekly group quizzes on Fridays.

Lectures are very clear and interesting. Weekly homework assignments are not bad at all. Weekly quizzes, but you get to work on it with others. The tests are pretty easy if you study for them and go to the SI reviews for conceptual and exam reviews. Also, she lets you drop a test or even the final if you're satisfied with your grade.

To get an A -Go to Class (most of the examples are going to be on the exam) If you want to save time studying and get a good grade, go to class, copy what's on the lecture, and ask about it to the TA and the professor in her office hours. If you do this, you are smart.

i went to class for only exams and quizzes this semester and i got a B. I had gone to class, i probably would have gotten an A. 4 tests including the final (which is cumulative and optional). Weekly quizzes and HW assignments. And Lab. If you do bad on tests, labs plus HW and quizzes will bring your grade up.

Rodrigue is highly overrated since she like the only professor that people take for 151. Sure she is nice but that really has nothing to do with her teaching abilities which are sub par at best. Honestly she makes her test unnecessarily difficult and her quizzes purposely confusing. The only thing that really saves you are the lab and the homeworks

She's a good professor that covers the information pretty well, she cares about her students and is really helpful during her office hours. About once every two weeks she has a quiz but she covers similar questions beforehand. However, she does take attendance every class.

Pretty horrible experience. The quizzes, homework, and lab should be near 100% free points. It's the exams that are killer because she makes the exams significantly more difficult than anything she's done in class. Also she doesn't hand back exams so you don't even know what you did wrong!

Rodrigue was a great physics professor! She helped make a potentially confusing class as clear as possible. She is definitely really knowledgeable in the topic and helped me a ton when I went to her office hours a few times. Physics can be a hard to understand class but she definitely helped.

Her lectures are clear, quizzes are open notes, homework isn't bad. Tests are a bit harder--the conceptual questions might trick you if you don't do the quick quizzes and conceptual questions from the book or review her in-class examples. Argues with students when they bring up her poor teaching and grading criteria, doesn't curve even when the test average was less than 60%, does not explain problems or variables well at all. Skips steps in problems, and has worksheets in a class we pay $300+ for. Would not recommend at all.

Rodrigue gets a lot of criticism but it's mostly just because Physics is a difficult subject. Most reasons people complain about her are due to the fact that people think she moves too fast. Overall pretty solid professor. Make sure you go to PASS and do lots of practice problems.

Terrible Professor, end of story. Unclear grading criteria, does not explain concept questions, and ultimately gives rude responses when students question her unclear teaching methods. Only reason why I got an A was because of my lab.

Dr. Rodrigue is fairly mediocre at lecturing. She frequently skips steps upon solving problems. The content can be overwhelming, and she does expect you to be familiar with pre-lecture topics (via prep hw). Quizzes are held on Fridays. Her exams can be tough; partial credit is only given towards the long answer responses.

Terrible experience. Zig zags in lecture, an gets noticeably ticked off when ever someone questions her or the multiple purely logical errors in her practice questions. Also treats the class like high school. Anyone who acts above the age of 16 will not enjoy the format.

Physics is hard but she makes it doable. She grades on a point system so EVERY POINT MATTERS! She drops 2 quizzes, 1 hw, and only takes top 3 highest scoring tests. Only good/bad thing is that she doesn't do +/- on grades, like I got a B+ in the class but will have a B reflecting on my transcript. She's nice but physics is hard so DON'T SKIP CLASS!

I had a rough start and got a 75% on her first exam, but Dr. Rodrigue was helpful in office hours and I did not have to take the final. Show up to class, if she sees your name on sign in sheets she can bump your grade! Group quizzes are not stressful and straight forward. Homework/ lab should also pad your score! She curves lab if your TA is tough.

There are a total of 4 exams, if you get good grades for the first 3 you don't have to show up for the fourth one (final). Group quizzes are every Fri. which are simple to do with a team effort. A few of the homework and pre HW are dropped. Lecture is heavily based on examples and she doesn't really go over concepts so STUDY THE CONCEPTS!

Dr. Rodrigue definitely knows her stuff and that can be an issue. Sometimes she'll move a little too fast expecting you to follow what she's doing. She was very nice and easy to speak with. Physics is HARD, but her goal is to make her students succeed. She is very fair (she drops some homeworks, quizzes, and a test). She is very sweet and interesting in lecrure. If you attend lecture, she will also give extra credit. It is manageable to get an A even if you don't do too well on the first exam. Concepts do get easier over time too.

Taking Physics was hard in high school and I barely did good on it and expected I would do worse in college as well. But Dr. Rodrigue's class made a lot more sense and easier to understand the material. Physics is really hard in general. I never used the textbook and wrote notes instead. Notes sometimes help. She basically goes over examples.

I had SCI 110 and NevadaFit Physics with Dr. Rodrigue, so not the most difficult classes, but she is one of the best professors I have met on this campus. She cares about all of her students sooooo much and she makes an effort to catch up with everybody periodically. She answers questions very well too. In the future, I will def. take her classes.

In my experience, she's not the nicest when answering questions. Other than that, she is a solid choice. Very clear grading criteria and she drops the lowest exam, so you may find that you don't have to take the final. Be sure to go to the Physics Help center and Pass. Those resources are the only reason I was able to get the grade I did.

Physics is not an easy class, especially if its your first time taking it but with that being said, Dr. Rodrigue moves very fast right from the beginning of the semester and you are expected to follow along. Lecture is PROBLEM HEAVY but those problems usually show up on exams. Utilize all the resources such as tutoring and PASS and youll get an A

Dr. Rodrigue was pretty good. She gave us lots of examples but sometimes she worked through the examples fast. We were put in groups at the beginning of the semester and it was really helpful to have people to work with. There is weekly homework and 2-3 questions to answer before each lecture, and a weekly quiz, but all of this stuff is to help us.

Melodi is a really nice professor. She is relatively slow and goes through many examples in class that mimic quiz/test questions. Will skip steps sometimes, but if you are good with variable manipulation it is easy. If you have prior exposure to physics in high school, it is an absolute cakewalk A. Physics isnt easy, but Rodrigue cares about her students and Is always willing to help. Dr. Rodrigue was incredibly helpful, caring, and an overall good physics professor. Her lectures are engaging, she gives you ample material to prepare for tests, and encourages questions. Attendance isn't mandatory, but quizzes are every Thursday. Prep homework and homework assignments are on WebAssign - make sure you set up e-mail notifications so that you don't forget it. Because it's not connected to Webcampus it is easy to forget. She's very caring and was overall a great teacher!

Absolutely horrible. She assigns 5 assignments a week, this isn't highschool anymore. I don't need to have mandatory pre-lecture homework, discussion group assignments, regular homework, and a weekly 9pm quiz all due for the same intro physics class. She is very nice but her class is awful. I retook phys151 at WNC for an A both semesters.

I really liked Professor Rodrigue. She cares about her students mental health & taught the material well. There was a lot of assignments due throughout the week, but it helped with the point distribution. So I didn't really mind that because then the grade wasn't soley based on test %. I wish I could take her again for 152. Professor Rodrigue explains the material well and is available after class for extra help and to go over problems. You can tell she loves her field and cares about her students. You get ten attempts for each homework problem, and if the class scores low on an exam, she curves by a lot.

Prof Rodrique, is great at lecturing the conceptual stuff, the problem is that she can do the math way to fast. Many time you end up confused bc she did calculus in her head or simplified a large polynomial in one step. She responds to emails quickly and will practically give you answers on the quizzes, which the tests are easier than.

The lectures for this class were boring. I was also not able to learn the way the Dr. Rodrigue taught. I found that I learned better on my own using the textbook and taking notes from there. Rodrigue's teaching style just doesn't match up with a lot of students I've come to find. She works quickly through problems without really explaining why she rearranged an equation or why she made a number negative or vice versa. Her lectures are not helpful whatsoever. Homework, quizzes, discussions, lab, exams. The way the class is weighted is nice. 2 exams and a Final, one of which is dropped. Get a 100 on everything, C and B on both exams and you can skip the final and get an A in the class. Rodrigue is friendly and patient, but her teaching style is questionable.

Luckily the constant stream of homework and weekly online quizzes work as good course correction even if you're not attending, and attendance is not graded whatsoever.
