Very boring. That's all I can say.
Great proffessor!! Highly reccomend her class!! Very easy. Knows what shes talking about, knows her subjet very well (has her doctorate)I am definately going to take her again for different courses!!
This professor was very easy to understand and was very attentive towards her students. Her class was a cheer, she knew her subject material very well and kept the classes diverse by teaching with different types of materials such as videos, websites, powerpoints, and the like.
Mrs. Lehnerer is great. She is very intelligent but comes across as down to earth, she makes her material easy to understand, and keeps class interesting. I would highly recommend her!
i recommend this professor. she is very knowledgable and has had experience in the field. she relates all the material to outside the classroom, so it's easy to understand
I loved her! You get to use a page of notes (front and back) on each test and she tells you exactly what you need to know for the test. I learned so much and looked forward to every class. I wish she was teaching more classes for my major. Just go to class, participate, and make your sheet of notes and you will pass with an A for sure!
Ridiculous amount of work!
She knows what she's talking about, but it feels like an English class! Hope you like a lot of essays. Overall easy class, just be aware that this class will keep you busy. Think twice about it if you plan on taking four classes.
Teacher is smart and a very nice lady. Didn't do any of the thousands of work she gave us so I withdrew. Just do all the assignments and WEBct quizzes and you will get a worthy grade.
SHE IS AWESOME. At first I thought the class was going to be a drag, but she's so funny and very interesting, traveled all over, and she always has interesting stuff to share and say to the class. If you do the work, participate, and show up, expect a great grade. She's extremely considerate. Awesome. Love her.
she does not explain her subject clearly. there is a considerable amount of work, thats really not hard, more hard to understand. tough grader!! she is all about woman power. sarcastic, buti guess in a funny way. overall, i probably wouldnt reccommend her.
So easy, only a few tests and papers along with in class participation. Ignore the book, it sat on my floor the entire semester and I got an A. She is a super easy grader on papers and if you write a few pages extra she'll usually give you full credit and then some extra points, every paper I turned in was at least 100% usually 110-20%.
THE PROJECTS WERE VERY TIME CONSUMING - ALOT OF READING. QUIZZES ONLINE: READ THE BOOK YOU'LL DO FINE, SHE LOOKS FOR THIS. SECOND ATTEMPT GIVEN ON ALL QUIZZES; TAKE FIRST QUIZ WHEN ASSIGNED WAIT FOR GRADED QUIZ THEN RETAKE SECOND - EASY 100%. SITE OTHER ONLINE SOURCES IN DISCUSSIONS SHE GIVES EXTRA POINTS
Prof.lehnerer is a great teacher. her work is definitely time consuming, but if u r willing to do the stuff, then the A is yours. she is very approchable. i would recommend to take her at any case.
Awesome teacher..at first i wasn't too into the subject but i grew into loving her class. She's one hell of a teacher. Understanding, she grades fairly, and instead of tests we write short essays which are easy.
She knows what she is talking about. Well prepared teacher. A little crazy haha but in a good way. she encourages participation.I didn't like the class at first but came to learn a lot and respect the teacher.Show up and listen. do the work and you'll get a good grade. Showing up is essential!i was 5-10 min late everyday and she was patient with me
excellent teacher!! she knows what she is talking about. she keep the class, and her language always simple, no fancy words.
Lehnerer is great at explaining things in a way in which you look a society differentally, less judgemental. She has four projects and numerous little homework assignments. Show up to class because you never know when she will have an in class assignment.
If you show up to class and do all your assignments you should have no problem passing this class. I found Dr. Lehnerer very informative and thought it was a fun class.
Dr. Lehnerer is an amazing teacher. You cannot find an instructor who knows more about the subject matter than she. There were no exams, no quizzes. Only projects. This method helped us to better understand what she was trying to teach us. I think she is one of the top 5 best instructors I've ever had. She does have a liberal side so big plus!
Dr Lehnerer overall is a pretty good teacher. She encourages class discussions and is a very nice lady. Open-minded. No tests. just projects. show up to class everyday because you never know when there will be an assignment! Also, I find sociology boring in general, but she is a good teacher.
All of the comments are correct. Dr. Lehnerer teaches through projects and class participation. She is a true college professor. Her material is meant to challenge you to think and use your brain. If you do the work, you will do well. She will work with you and has MANY office hours avail. If we had more like her, our US education system would work
No TESTS nor QUIZZES, no extra credits, just 4 projects, expect 10 pages each. Good teacher, tough but fair. Her class is fun but her grading is bleh. May be it was because I did not touch the book. I'm trying to pull an A out of this class.
I thought she was a really good professor. No tests all projects. I never even opened my book until I did the projects and needed definitions etc. She really knows the material and is very passionate about sociology. Has so many interest, relevant videos. I actually really enjoyed the class and I got an A.
Just projects. My suggestion, be as specific as possible when answering project questions. Use the book for definitions to help you. I thought the lectures were nearly useless as long as you read the book
I loved dr. lehnerer, she is one of the most caring and sweet professor i had this semester. she actually wants you to understand by providing real life scenarios which makes it easy to grasp and picture what is she teaching. her exams & quizzes are online and straight of the lecture, so make sure you attend class and payclose attention and TAKE NO
Dr. Lehnerer is an amazing professor, she is very passionate about what she teaches. She requires a text for the class but you can by with an A without reading it. it is important that you do assignments and projects thought. no test or quizzes, only class discussions on lectures and assignments. You will learn a lot about sociology. SHES GREAT!
Took this in class for my first semester ever in 2009, overall ther is a lot of short essays(in 4projects/easy) but go to class and its easy. This teacher is fun, she made Soc interesting&made you want to go to class. She is by far my fav teacher. Use the book she looks for that.
I have enjoyed this class tremendously. This is the second class I have taken with her and because of her have considered Sociology as my minor. The people that made negative and disparaging comments probably couldn't do the course work. I recommend her highly.
She is very specific about her assignments but does not express clearly what exactly she is looking for until its too late and the grades are in the book. She doesnt clearly express her expectations or why things are graded the way they are. Don't share opinions. She's stuck in her ways. I would highly reccomend finding a different professor.
She is very refreshing because of her choices on assignments. Instead of boring quizzes she is open to interactive assignments. Very outgoing and down to earth. She is very easy to work with when it comes to assignment questions. I recommend taking her class.
Excellent Professor! She's passionate about the subject which makes the class very interesting and easier to grasp class concepts. She applies current events to the subject and shows fascinating videos to back up her data. If you're a dedicated student, she's highly recommended!
This class was hard for me to stomach being a person of conservative values. Her point of view is strongly rooted in liberal ideology. That being said, she does give all students equal air time to express their opinions. I would not take this class as a free elective, only if you absolutely must for your degree or transfer agreement.
In concurance with another poster, it was hard for me (as someone with conservative values) to participate sometimes because she often pushes her liberal values into the class discussions. Not recommended to try to disagree with her, either. She is also very unclear about her expectations on assignments and only clarifies after grades are final.
I hated this class, and she is extremely unclear when she teaches. The projects are a joke, and she says what she wants from them but does not grade them fairly. Don't speak out against her if you're a republican (learned the hard way).
this class just sucks... i have it now and i absolutely dread going to it. we have the most pointless assigned questions ever. and her service learning project what a waste of time. either she needs to change the way she runs her class or sociology is going to be an extinct major...
I like her a lot. Im majoring in Sociology and everything she assigns I think has a point. Whoever said service learning project is pointless hopefully doesn't major in sociology because the whole point was to experience um well society! If majoring in soc would recommend her. A lot of work but if you do it you will pass!!! I liked her a lot!
She just sucks and her being a strong liberal just makes her class absolutely horrible and miserable. Every-time i leave i get more and more irritated... i wouldnt be surprised if she fails me because of my political views... its cool, karma will come back around.
One of my best professors Ive had.She makes class interesting by always having fun clips that go along with lecture. Weekly quizes and weekly online activities as well as one community service project, out of norm assignment, and final picture project. above all her class is fun and pretty easy if you are not lazy RECOMMEND
These are a hybrid class & prepare yourself for tons of work. Print weekly powerpt aid for the class. She will humor you with her weekly YouTube & magazine?s joke. Weekly online quizzes plus e-discussion, she will give you a heads up for service Project & Photo Essay (the best). She is very easy to approach & will help you IF you want to succeed.
Hybrid class! Very easy if you are not lazy. Online assignments and quizes due every sunday. Great teacher very fun and nice. I RECOMEND
This class is awesome! She is very good at explaining things in ways that are easily understood. She gives you a copy of the power points so note taking is super easy. Love this class and teacher.
This class is the most boring class I have ever taken. All the notes are online. Lots of projects including service learning, photo essays, etc. Tests and quizzes are taken online, and they are usually really easy. Attendance is mandatory and she doesn't let you out till the absolute last minute of class.
Honestly one of my best professors, she is patient and very helpful, a bit of a feminist, but regardless she keeps sociology fun and constantly keeps you on track.
Though the assignments were easy and there were few big projects, I wouldn't recommend this teacher if your mind is easily distracted. She doesn.t give much as far as personality goes, and her class can be boring to sit in at times.
Dr. Lehnerer is a great Sociology teacher. She uploads power-points of every chapter to print and bring to class so you can follow along with her lecture. A few big projects that allow for creativity. She is very clear in her instructions. Review of the exact questions class before. Easy A, interesting class, awesome instructor.
Dr.Lehnerer is a great professor and is always ready to help her students! She's a great person and a great social scientists! Yes she gives a few projects but so worth it! I'd take her class again if I could
What a joy it was to take Dr. Lehnerer's class. I enjoyed her lectures every mon/wed. She is so nice, and has a passion for sociology. Her class is very easy if you do the work, and you will have plenty of fun on the way. Take her class!
Great professor! she is so sweet! She wants specific wording on her assignments. Lecture notes, few in class assignments, quizzes which he has great reviews for, presentation. overall pretty easy
She is generous, helpful, and extremely nice. Very committed on teaching. Everytime I had a problem understanding something she always helps out anyway she can. About 3-4 fun projects were given to us. Exams were fairly easy if you pay attention to her notes and lectures. Take her class you will not regret it!
She is very unfair and so un-empathetic. I had a family emergency and she wouldn't let me make up my assignments dropping my grade. She takes forever to grade and respond to emails. I was really looking forward to this class and although the class is easy, the professor makes this class very unenjoyable. I WOULD NOT recommend her to anyone EVER
She seems to never stay on topic.
I had no idea what to expect in a sociology class, but I really enjoyed it! Some topics can be a bit depressing, but she tries to lighten the mood with some cheesy humor. Class discussion is always interesting, and she loves to hear opinions. Some lectures are more exciting than others!
Dr. Lehnerer is one of the most amazing professors I have ever had the privilege to learn from. Her classes fly by and are filled with videos, class discussions and note taking. She gives you the power points ahead of time and if you go to class, pay attention and listen to what she says you will do great! She is also passionate & strong willed.
Almost impossible to get a good grade. 4 tricky tests designed to make students fail. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone.
Excellent professor. Very helpful, understanding, and replies promptly to students. Read the material as well as the lectures. If for some reason anything is unclear, lectures handle it & you will do great on tests. Professor is very clear on what she expects as far as assignments. Put some effort into your assignments and you are guaranteed an A.
Hard time paying attention, falling asleep in class. Lovely teacher but boring.
Her assignment are not well explain, if you think you have done the work right think again because shes not clear on what she wants from you at all. She gives you a bad grade without explaining what you did wrong. She wants you to read several chapter and also her extra reading poorly scan pages. Class is very interesting but she makes it difficult
She tells us the class average has been 60% for the past few semester, yet does nothing to change her teaching method. Clearly it's not working out if people are barely passing.
She's a great teacher, easy online tests and not to heavy on homework.
Work consists of reading a chapter a week, power point, written lecture, with videos. With the end result being an essay each week. Guarantee to give up some time for volunteer work for a service learning project as well. You do the work however you should pass. Though the amount of work seemed more equal to two classes than one.
She's a good professor and has been doing it for quite awhile. She's got it down and is full of examples. Take notes on everything she says and the tests will come by simple, given two tries and 90 minutes. Be expected to be called on often. Not so much homework, maybe a little something due every 2 weeks. Very kind and enjoys her job
Dr. Lehnerer was the best. She made this online class easy for all to pass, if you are ready to actually work for what you want. If your not ready to read and write short essays, then honestly you shouldn't be in college. She sets you up for success.
This class was Intro to Feminist Theory and Dr. Lehnerer laid out the class perfectly. There are short essays, discussions, and quizzes. The material is very interesting and she gives good feedback on your work. I would highly recommend taking Dr. Lehnerer as she knows her subject and offers great insight in her lectures. Highly recommended!
Dr. Lehnerer is a fair and inspirational professor. Uses several different learning techniques, such as youtube videos and articles from magazines/newspapers. Subjects are interesting and all the tools you need for success she literally gives to you. Communicate by email for any questions or confusion, she is helpful and responds quickly.
I have never had a more confusing professor. She does not teach well, she expects you to know everything she is talking about. She emailed everyone in the class that the majority is doing poor, she should take that as a hint that her students do not understand what she is asking for. If her students are failing, she is failing as a professor.
The worst professor I've ever had in my entire life, I am about to drop out the course. She doesn't even know her material, only try to talk something relate to. I have learned nothing so far, so I highly recommend you not to take classes with her. She is not clear about what she wants referring to homework and you'll get bad grades.
Avoid her class She also wants you to do community service Just dont take her
I m taking her Hybrid class! I enjoy every minute of it. A lot of debates in class, which is fun and makes the lectures enjoyable. She is very caring, and wants you to pass. She emails you back right away if you are having a hard time, she is always communicating with you. Community service is the best part, for a project due the end of the year:)
I took the hybrid class. You have homework every week, but it's easy and straightforward. She tries to incorporate humor into her lectures, and likes to get her class talking. The exams are all online, and you get 2 attempts. So record all your answers, right or wrong, before going into attempt 2, and you're guaranteed at least a B. She's worth it!
Great professor! Her work is very organized and clear. Easy grader but the tests take a bit getting used to. Once you get the hang of it, there's no reason you shouldn't get an A. She does ask for 8 easy hours of volunteer work for the semester/final project. If you can't do that I would suggest another professor.
Usually you should not have to ask for help and should understand what the project ask from you. However, this professor cannot be bothered to explain it clearly. Terrible professor. Do not waste your time and find yourself a better professor.
i'm currently in her online class. You have to make sure you read your textbook and all the lectures she has online. Also its very important that you watch the videos she post because they will be on all the quiz's. Make sure you take notes on the reading material and powerpoints. it's an easy class if your dedicated to studying.
I took one of her hybrid classes. The class was super easy, make sure you read the online lecture and pay attention to the notes on the powerpoints. Quizzes were easy, most of the answers are given in the physical lecture. She also gives feedback on essays. Great class.
I enjoyed her HIST 101 class every Fridays, it was a 2-3 hours lecture but she gives activities and will let you have breaks (you can bring snacks). The information she gives are so straight forward that the exams are almost always easy. Honestly, her class was the best which made my HIST 102 class so boring.
If you need to take SOC 101 online, this is your professor to go. Her lectures are amazing and easy to comprehend if you read the text.
Lots of work to do and is tough with grading.
There is a good amount of work for this class. There is a discussion and quiz every week. The quiz is not too hard because it is open book/lecture. I didn't buy the book because it was 70+ dollars and I still got a 96% in the class. You just need to study the lectures well and look through them while quizzing. I think discussions were graded badly.
I took Dr. Lehnerer's 8-week course; there's discussions, essays, and quizzes. She gives you two attempts for each quiz which is very helpful. Overall, the class is pretty straight forward. If you do the work you'll pass
Dr. Lehnerer's rate here doesn't do her justice at all lol I LOVED her and her course! As long as you submit all the requirements there is no reason you would fail this subject. And the exams were easy too, just really read and that's it. I got an easy A and genuinely enjoyed this subject.
Dr. Lehnerer genuinely cares about you and wants you to succeed. She frequently gives extra credit so make sure you try on every assignment! There are a lot of essays and discussions but she tells you everything you need to write about. She gives 2 attempts for every quiz and they're all open book & open notes. She's great and I'm glad I took her!
Too much reading! Too much work and yet I still passed with an A. Almost every week there is a quiz based on a 20-30 page chapter(s), a discussion and a essay. I was mentally drained. She does give out extra credit throughout the time so take advantage of it and you can probably get away without doing maybe 2 assignments. You need the book get it!
I had to retake this course because the first time I got a C and sadly this time I am leaving with a D she's one of those teachers that just wants to make you work for it and it's like I try so hard and still she doesn't wanna be lenient with anyone definitely don't recommend taking her
Dr.Lehnerer is a fantastic teacher. She wants you to know about the material very adequately. She is very caring and honest. I took this class in person in the fall of 2021, and she wants everyone to participate in the class discussion. Book is essential. Essays are easy. There are quizzes almost after each chapter, but she Gives two trials.
I had a really good time with this class! :) definitely need to do lots of reading but there are no tests except biweekly quizzes which are easy with textbook+lectures in hand! I wasn't a big fan of the lectures provided in text but that's just me personally. I didn't find her a tough grader and grades were given in a timely manner. Good professor!
I don't know why her ranking is so low, I think she was amazing and had the best lectures so much to learn and really make you think. Take her class to actually learn its not what everyone is making it to be. I would 100% take her again.,
This class was fairly easy, there's one discussion board post each week. You have to reply to one classmate for full credit. One test every week over 1-2 chapters, you need the book. I found her chapter notes more beneficial than the book so always look at those when taking the quiz!!
I really enjoyed this class. Professor Lehnerer provided a printable lecture on the course materials weekly to go along with the chapters we were covering. I liked how the expectations were clearly laid out and it was easy to get into a good rhythm. I learned a lot and would definitely take this class again.
Dr. Lehnerer is outright my favorite professor so far at CSN. Her teaching style is very open discussion. She thrives on the opinions of her students and is very open to our opinions during discussions in class. Please put in the effort when doing the online discussions. She stresses a well written essay, and at the college level it's not too much.
Dr. Lehnerer is very passionate about her experience of Sociology. Please read your textbook early a week before semester starts. Her workload may seem too much, but it is not difficult, at least is easy to understand. Sometimes, you will be working in a group as part of your assignments. Yes, she is a tough grader, so please study ahead of time.
Dr. Lehnerer is a great professor! Her class is not difficult as long as you do the work the quizzes are not hard at all and you're able to use the textbook and lectures. There is no final exam (which I thank her everyday) The only downside is she will call on you during class but if you don't know the answer that's fine, she won't say anything.
Dr.Lehnerer was a joy to have as a professor, she is very inclusive and enjoys to hear her student's opinions, she does remember names and will call on you. There are weekly quizzes, they are open note, she also makes her own"online notes"that have the answers for you. Attendance is important in class assignments are done every class session.
Super nice professor! Loved her class.
Class was easy enough! You just have to be descriptive when you answer. It's only one quiz every week and you get 2 tries! She is such a sweet older lady and super nice! Please laugh at her jokes!
Dr. Melodye Lehnerer is very caring and direct. Her class is fairly easy and worth taking. I enjoyed learning and taking the class because of her. I would definitely recommend anyone to take her class for Sociology 101. Everyone has two attempts to take the quizzes, which is very helpful for students. Lectures are clear.
