I wouldn't say that Huff was my worst Calc professor so far, but he could show some improvement. He was hard to follow at times, but if you asked him anything he would really help you out. At times he did lack control of the classroom at times, which was distracting. Overall, I would look to take a class with him in the future.

Dr. Huff is a funny and friendly professor, and is always wiling to help. He offers a lot of ways to keep your grade from plummeting. While I had him as a professor, I didn't like him; he had messy handwriting, was very soft-spoken, and had boring lectures. Once I had other Calc professors, I regretted disliking him so much during his class. Most Calc professors have bad writing and boring classes, but at least Huff makes the effort to help you understand the material.

Though he was able to walk us through the topics, he wasn't answering his emails. Often we would be brought up to solve an equation on the board and some students weren't able to understand the problem. Other than not responding to emails, the only way we would be able to communicate with him is during/after class and during his office hours.

Melvin Huff is my goat. He legit gave me infinite chances to get a better grade. He never scaled because he never had to everyone always did so well. I wish he taught more classes. He makes lots of funny jokes and really made calc 1 and 2 enjoyable. Let him boost your gpa you will be so happy you took his class.

I'm in Pre Calculus currently and all he does is shuffle into the classroom and starts writing on the board. He then barely explains the topic and calls us up by rows to solve the problems on “slates”. The homework doesn't follow the lectures or exams and I've been having to learn it myself. Overall, difficult, but the TA is making it bearable.

Horrible Teacher. Probably around 80-85 years old, so should be retired. Constant mistakes while writing topics on the board, and doesn't use numbers, its all theory. I have him at 8 am and he always shows up late, but when you show up even 30 seconds after him, he asks you why you were late. Doesn't enter grades so you cant tell how you're doing.

He knows a lot about the subject but he couldn't teach it very well. He is alright during office hours, but not during class time. We were a week behind where we should've been, and were taking tests with content we had yet to learn. The TA was a savior for me. Also, Huff doesn't read emails. I do not recommend.

He is a kind but getting towards the age of retirement, especially with his quality of teaching. He explained many of the concepts extremely briefly and would ask students to replicate it on whiteboards right after. Over half my class had to withdraw. I would recommend looking for someone else unless you are able to self-teach well.

I would say that Huff is a 4/5 professor for the average student. If you are taking him, understand that your participation in class will heavily determine how you do. Do the problems in class. I participated heavily and was able to get an A. This is not a slideshow class, you must attend and be present and take notes. Not as bad as people say IMO.

This professor expects you to already know everything he is teaching. I found myself really confused the majority of the time because he was teaching something I had never seen before without explaining how to do it or where students went wrong. His reviews for the test never help with the exam either. I suggest switching the professor.
