A Wonderful teacher, really cares about the subject. She's so worth it!

Professor Kurz ROCKS! She's tough, but incredibly fair, and you'll come away with the ability to write an essay for any class.

Interesting ex to choose from for work assignments. Book ok to read. Will give you all assignments ahead, you know what to expect. Make sure you attend all classes, if you are absent may loose in-class writing points which can be very helpful in your grade. Recommend her, very good.

Took her class in Fall 2004. Great teacher. Lots of information in class but Ms. Kurz makes it interesting with class participation and exercises. Follows syllabus thus easy to follow the course. Short essays written broaden insights of language acquisition most helpful to ESLers. Great time in her class.

You will get something out of this class! She is a great teacher and very interesting to listen to. Your writing/critical thinking will improve if you take her class, she's really cool too!!! I really learned how to think beyond the surface and it has helped me ten fold in every class!!!

Ms.Kurz is a wonderful teacher i took her class for English 21, 28 and 101. I learned more in her classes than I've ever learned in any other English class I've ever taken. She teaches clearly and is an awsome teacher.She will help out any student whom she seems is having a hard time.

Professor Kurz is just an amazing professor. We stayed right on track with our syllabus and everthing was crystal clear on it. She makes the class fun, funny, and very enjoyable. I've since moved out of the valley, but I will make the commute just to have her for English, that's how highly I think of her. I learned so much in this class.

A delightful teacher! In taking her course I learned so much about literature and appreciated it even more. She creates an easy going atmosphere for the classroom and makes you feel confident in your ability to write. Professor Kurz is very clear and fair she allows her students to turn in drafts prior to the paper being due. Higly recomended!

Excellent instructor! She is very clear on her syllabus and sticks to it. She has structured her course very well, providing ample opportunity to excel. And if that isn't enough she's actually an enjoyable person and entertaining teacher. She gets an A+!!

A great professor all the way through. She has a kind hart and makes the time pass by so quickly. She will go over things if you don't get it the first time around, and yes you have to attend every class because she covers a lot in her classes. I highly reccommand her for any student.

she is very nice. very clear and definitely knows her topic and knows what she is talking about. tests r on every 2 chapters. some r hard and some r easy. if u take good notes then u won't need the book. overall i liked her. she is fun and lets the time goes by very fast. RECOMMENDED

Professor Kurz is a loving, caring and awesome Professor. She is what every Professor/ educator should be. As long as you work, and are serious about your education she will help you acheive your goals. She's difficult but if you work hard and pay attention you'll learn a ton. She's a great teacher if you WANT to learn.

This teacher was one of the highlights of my school semester this year. I actually enjoyed going to class. The class format is clear and while the content is somewhat hard, the teacher makes it more enjoyable. I reccomend this teacher to anyone.

Her lecture are clear for the most part. She loves what she teaches. Attendance is key. You do not want to miss a lectures. Her tests are short and easy and based on the lecture. No scantron needed. multiple choice and fill ins mostly. The book is needed to emphasize her lectures.I would take her again for a regular english class one day.

Professor Kurz is a wonderful woman. She kept the students excited and had very thought proking lectures/discussions. She was extremely supportive and helped me during a rough patch in my education/life. I wish I had taken other classes with her while at Valley. Students recieved As in her class because they were learning. Truly a good teacher.

I struggled with this class initially, because I didn't really apply myself. But, Kurz is GREAT. Very smart, wants you to learn. Four exams, one of which is the final. Turn in ALL the homework and if you want to get a good grade. Don't miss class if you want to do well, or you will really suffer, especially if you take it once a week. TAKE HER!

Lectures are mostly from the book, the course is one of those courses where you take in information and regurgitate it back. But of course, any course is what you make of it. Why can't she teach everything? I will take all of her higher level English classes. Things just seem to become clear when she explains them. She has a wealth of knowledge to learn from, and has a passion and excitement for what she does that is contagious. To me the biggest indicator of a good class is an enthusiastic teacher, and she has it.

Best Professor

I had her for English 21 and English 28. She is an OK teacher. She doesn't demand a lot. We used the books that she told us to buy. She isn't hard and she isn't easy. As a guy, I liked her and also,she explains everything every well.

She is very sweet and helpful. I was in her vcap class and it does go by fast. Three essays all 3 pages double spaced.There is extra credit available and she does bring cookies on test days.

This class was so interesting. The tests are really easy, and curved. Gives A LOT of e.c. Gives out cookies on the day of the tests!! :) I got 102% at the end it was so easy. TAKE THE CLASS!

Very kind and sweet teacher. Prof Kurz makes a highly technical and sometimes difficult subject simple to understand. There are extra credit opportunities. Keep in mind, you *will* need to use the book, in addition to taking good notes. Honestly, I wish she taught every English class at Valley.

(VCAP)She is one tough cookie! Makes students work very hard for their grade, but is totally worth taking! An A is possible when effort is put into the essays. Essay revisions are very important and one must fix more than she marks on the first draft for most points. I highly recommend this class! She is a wonderful educator.

She is a wonderful professor. The class moves fast. She covers all the material and get students well prepared for Eng. 101. Many opportunities for extra credit. I recommend this class!

English 105 (Linguistics 1) with Kurz is the easiest A you will earn in community college. A LOT of extra credit opportunities & you will be tested on 2 chapters at a time on an exam. Plus, she will oftentimes bring cookies or a buffet style spread on the day of an exam. First thought the class was frivolous but actually ended up really enjoying it

Prof. Kurz is super awesome! She's extremely helpful and nice and always offers extra credit to help you bring up your grades. Class isn't too hard if you just pay attention, show up, do the work, and ask questions! She's Fantastic!!!

Kurz is a fair and very nice, sometimes pushes her students unlike regular professors. There are no surprises in her class, her syllabus is followed exactly so if you miss a day you know exactly what your missing. Recommended!

Shes very sweet and helpful! Gives extra credit, has 3 quizzes, and the final is non cumulative! This course was very interesting because she cleared out every problem relating it, be present in class and shell like you more! Best humanities class yet! :)

She is very easy to understand, and welcomes you at her office whenever you need help.

She's a very good teacher. I had her in the morning and she makes class fun and interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory but she does give out extra credit that can only be earned in class. If you do all the work and attend class regularly, there should be no reason why you can't pass. She's really easy and likes to help in her office hours.

Prof. Kurz is an amazing professor. She no doubt cares about her students, giving them extra credit opportunities, and she's always willing to help in class. She gives good advice for class and for life. Oh yeah, did I mention that she sometimes gives her class cookies? And she is so nice to everyone.

Just a great teacher who bends over backwards to make sure ALL her students understand the material. And the people who said that this class is an easy A, they are LYING. You have to study your butt off, you have to translate many phonetical terms into English, and you MUST see Kurz in her office for help. But overall Kurz is the bomb.

This teacher is hilarious and super interesting. The class is eye opening and really fun to think about. The only class I've ever looked forward to. Just took it as a GE and now I want to major in linguistics. Tests aren't too bad and she gives extra credit. Take her, it's especially great because her excitement is contagious.

I love Professor Kurz! Took this course to fulfill a humanities requirement and I loved it! This course covers the scientific study of the history and structure of languages, so you will learn about structure, syntax, and so on. Very fun lectures and she will go over the material until everyone gets it. Would take again. She is the best!!!

Wow, she's the best teacher ever. Really loves to teach and really loves her students (she calls us her "babies"). Very interesting subject, and she really helps you understand the subject. Tests are fairly easy. She's more concerned that we learn something and less concerned with giving intense exams. Brings food every day!

I LOVE Meredith! I had her for Linguistics & she KNOWS HER STUFF. She's like the aunt you go to for help. She really cares for her students and doesn't overwhelm you. Gives plenty of E.C for those who need it. She really does want all her 'kids' to pass & is there for you anytime. AND she brings snacks to class! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED )

An amazing professor. Even though the subject is a little tough (very technical material), she's very clear, patient, helpful, and keeps things interesting. There wasn't much workload, but her tests cover everything she went over in class. Totally approachable and available for help. In general, she made the class a very positive experience.

Professor Kurz was a bright soul. During exams, she brought food or snacks and set it up on the front table. She was very helpful, thorough, and consistent with her lessons. She was also very lenient about make-up work as long as you communicate with her. And don't leave early, it does not sit right with her. Fun class overall.

Meredith Kurz is such a sweet lady. I attending love her class and learning everything about English 21 from her. She's really helpful whenever you need help. She respects her students and makes sure that everyone does well on writing essays. In this class, everyone will understand how to form an essay. I would take her for ENG 28 if she taught it.

Prof Kurtz was one of the best teachers I've ever had ! She is sweet and she cares for her students. She gave us cookies and candy once in a while. Like what college teacher does that?! I learned so much from her class and I started off with poor writing skills and by the end of the semester all my essay where A's wish she was teaching ENG 28

OMG I Love Professor Kurz! She's the most sweetest English Professor. Her teaching is so straight forward, understanding and reasonable, she takes her time with class assignments that she hands out to us if we have any questions or don't understand it. I strongly recommend her if you want to better reading and writing skills. You won't regret it.

One of the best professors I've had! Fun class and very interesting. She is so passionate about her work and to help students! So sad she's retiring though!
