Dr. Main Sa was a wonderful teacher. It's very possible to do well in her class if you're willing to spend the time it takes to do the reading. The quizzes come directly from the books, and her powerpoints sum up the main points well. Discussion posts are worth quite a bit of your grade, but the topics are interesting, so it's not a chore. 10/10
Dr. Main Sa is a very great lecturer, she explains concepts concise and clear. To pass her class all you have to do is read the chapters and take her brief quizzes. She is very lenient on ESL students, so if your english is not proficient she will not grade your paper with bias.
Shes a great teacher. Very easy, outgoing, and funny. She doesnt grade harshly and her assignments are easy to get done, its an easy A. I would definitely recommend Professor Main Sà. She does a lot of pop quizzes but theyre usually only two questions and easy.
Professor Main is a great professor she will help you with anything I recommend you to take her very helpful
Dr. Main Sa is a really good professor. She cares for her students outside of the classroom in which I state that as she has changed due dates on test to be more suitable for the class, etc. The material itself is interesting and she has the course set up or you to succeed. Would take again 10/10. Do the readings, pay attention in class & u r good
She is an amazing teacher wants her students to learn and understand her class it not hard at all but be prepare to learn and have fun and be open to discussions !
Excellent class. Very clear guidelines on participation and grading. I received great feedback on my two papers. She has strict deadlines, if you're late you most likely won't get the credit, but she gives you days in advance to begin or complete the work, especially for the papers. I had an issue with my group for the papers, but she had my back.
The class is really interesting. If you show up and do the assignments you'll get an A
I really enjoyed this course. She has lectures online available that are very helpful and she is very organized. She responds and grades your work very quickly and really wants every student to learn something and understand how anthropologists work. I took this class for Summer A and had no issues. Wish I could take her for other courses too.
Literally the best professor on the Santa Fe campus. She's very focused and encourages class participation. There is one major assignment for the whole semester (it's a group project). Other than that, just make sure to read the material (she usually only assigns one chapter) and you'll do fine on the pop quizzes. I really loved her classes.
TAKE HER CLASSES! If she offered more @ SF, I'd definitely take her again. By far my favorite professor. Only one big project for the whole semester... the rest is just light reading & fun lectures. Super funny & loves her students. As long as you participate & pay attention, you'll pass. I really loved her classes. Do itttt. You won't regret it!!!
Took class online. Weekly reading in book, quiz, and discussion. Provides a video lecture. Midterm is over the first 8 chapters, final is on the last 8 chapters. One project, broken into two parts. Must work with one other person. Shes amazing and I learned so much in this class. Im taking her other class because of how much I enjoyed her.
Professor Main was a really good teacher, she is always funny. This is an easy class, just need to attend class, participate, pay attention to class and you will be fine. We didn't have a final for this class, we did a research paper and a presentation as our final. I recommend to taking this class.
Its not a hard class just follow the syllabus.
Great professor overall, really enjoyed the experience and i feel like I got the most out of the course. I would 100% recommend you take this course with Dr. Main.
She is very understanding of many situations
Learned a lot from this class. Amazing professor. Just try and you'll get a good grade. Read textbook for pop quizzes
I had the pleasure of taking her for two classes, one online and the other in person. The lectures are very easy to follow, she makes the material entertaining and interesting. The presentations have light rubrics so getting an A on those is fairly easy, and the final paper is a broad culture assessment that was very fun to do.
Second time taking this teacher online. Really enjoyed the topics and learning. Shes very accessible and will work with you if youre having any difficulties. Weekly readings, lecture video, quiz and discussion post. Two exams through the semester and one large paper. Great class
I enjoyed the course well enough to make it to rate my professor before the semester ended and grades were finalized. Her course was smooth for everyone i spent time studying with and didn't experience difficulty with the assignment load. In all, she's a highly recommended professor for students that want to actually learn and not lose their heads
She is a great professor! I did not expect to enjoy the class as much as I did, but she was very knowledgable and made it enjoyable. She gives excellent feedback so you can improve and get good grades on assignments. She is also very accessible if you ever have questions. Would recommend!
I took this course online and it was a great class! There is weekly discussions, one paper, a few quizzes, and two exams. I highly recommend taking this class with Prof. Main, she was very quick to respond to any questions I had and very understanding. This class is overall easy to pass as long as you do the work. Professor Main is the way to go!
Great professor, really cares about her students. She does use the textbook and there is a good amount of reading. I personally didnt get the textbook but still finished with an A+
Overall, Dr. Main is a nice professor and cares about her students. She understands there can be difficulties in students' lives especially now with the pandemic going on. There's a quiz every week, lots of reading, 1 group writing project, and weekly discussions. Not the easiest class, I had to work for my A.
If you do the work she tells you to do, you will pass. Her class is so easy, too. She explains every question you have thoroughly. Shes very helpful and super hilarious. Meredith will answer your text at legit 2 AM (okay that may be sarcasm but she will respond quicker than most). She had pop quizzes but like I said, do the work and youll pass
Professor Main-Sa' is the bomb dot com! If you actually want to learn, I mean not just go to class, but be inspired, she is it! I was worried about taking it as a summer B class but she is there for all of her students and the compassion and empathy she brings to educating is one of a kind. Take her class frfr!
Ms Main is great. She is really helpful telling you exactly what you need to do for the assignments. It is pretty much just a quiz and small discussion every week and a couple tests that are not that difficult. Any effort in this class will probably get you an A.
Pretty much an easy A for this class. There is a quiz, video discussion, and peer reply every week. There are 2 exams over the course and one 6-page paper that surprisingly wasn't that hard as I thought it would be. She is a very sweet lady and her work is very manageable. Take her!!
This is a great class! If you do what is asked of you will do well! Dr. Main Sa is a great teacher with passion for what she teaches.
Professor Main is a caring and understanding professor she is always willing to work with you and help you out. Her class has clear guidelines and if you follow them you shouldn't get anything under a B.
She is a really great teacher and Im happy I was able to take her class for Fall 2020 online. It was enjoyable and I actually learned some new things about culture and how people live/are in different societies. I like the way she set up everything and you can tell she actually enjoys her job which is refreshing. If you need this class TAKE HERS!
I had taken her last semester and was excited to find out I had her again. She was an amazing teacher and I learned so much from her. If you are looking for a great professor to learn Cultural Anthropology from, she is the one for you. You will have a quiz and video discussion due every week. You will have a 6 page paper to write due at the end.
Her class was fun, she is a great teacher and communicates effectively with her students. Her expectations are clear, she is empathetic. The most challenging assignment in her class was the mini-ethnography, but so long as you actually do the project and keep up with the work you should be fine.
Despite my grade, actually is a very interesting and (potentially) easy class! I had surgery in the middle of the semester, and Dr. Main Sá was very understanding through the whole process. She is very clear about what needs to be done for grading, and willing to work with you to succeed. I'd take one of her courses again if given the chance :)
Dr. Main Sà is one of the best professors I've ever had. The material was extremely interesting and I love that she eliminated stereotypes and racist ideas and throughout the course. She is always easy to get in touch with. One 20 minute quiz and one discussion every week with only 3-4 exams, that's it. 10/10.
A very charismatic professor that really cares about the success of her students. Pay attention to the lectures, they are pretty interesting, and you will do will in her class. Has a final project, but provides plenty of insight and give you lots of time to plan ahead. All around great professor that helped me transition to UF. A hidden gem.
Professor Main is the teacher you NEED to take for Anthropologie! She only gives 1 quiz and 1 video discussion a week! At the end of the semester, you have a 6-page paper due but for me, it took 1 day to complete + she gives you the prompt 2-3 weeks in advance. The lowest score that I got on one of her quizzes was 9/10. TAKE HER I'm telling you!!!!
She is a wonderful professor and is Caring and Kind, I couldn't say enough good things about her and definitely recommend her class to Anyone!
LOVE this professor. Her lectures are amazing and I learned so much although it's an online class. I've gotten a 100 on every quiz, test, and assignment. And the ethnography is not too bad either as long as you follow her instructions! (I got a 99). Definitely recommend this prof if you want an easy A class and want to learn.
Even though I'm not saying my grade, Professor Main is a very good professor, and she helps you through what you need help with. I would definitely recommend taking her. Her assignments are really easy, and she tells you what you can do to improve your grade and help you bring it up.
Dr. Main Sa's General Anthropology (ANT2000) is a great class to take; if you're looking for something easy and need the credit or if you are interested in the subject! I myself took it for both reasons, This topic was very fascinating and interesting, and Dr. Main does a great job teaching it. Did it in 6 weeks online, I highly recommend ANT2000.
You will have a 6 page paper due at the end of the semester, do not waste time try to get started right away, she knows if you did it last minute. Do not be afraid to ask questions! When taken online, Flipgrid is used for video discussions. Great teacher, very nice.
Professor Main Sá was fantastic, she's incredibly charismatic, understands her field of study well, and is able to transfer her experience into her lectures and course material. The class was broken down into video responses, weekly quizzes, two tests, and a six-page paper. Nothing was too challenging but was ultimately quite enjoyable.
Dr. Main Sá is easily one of Santa Fe's best instructors. She has brief weekly video lectures where she outlines the chapter material and offers her thoughts on a few topics. There are weekly quizzes and class discussions as well as a final paper, all of which are very, very manageable. She gives you every opportunity to succeed in her class.
I took Dr. Main Sá during my first semester at Santa Fe, and her laid-back and caring attitude really helped in my transition to online learning. She doesn't overload you with work which helps you actually absorb the material. Weekly reading assignments, quizzes, and class discussions with a final paper due at the end of the semester. Great class!
She is a professor who will make you read, watch videos and get your own opinion. I think it's very good because it's the only way you really learn. 100% useful, I loved EF class!
Professor Main gives great lectures and explains the content beautifully. Responds to emails quickly and is ready to help. Weekly quizzes, video discussions. 2 exams and 1 large final COVID group project. My main issue though is I DO NOT like video discussions, wish it would stay text format. If you mess up with Flipgrid your work wont get a grade.
She is so sweet! She really cares and does give some projects/quizzes, but they are easy. Just keep up with the class.
Professor Main is definitely a professor I would suggest you take for cultural or general anthropology, she gives plenty of time to do homework and projects, as long as you do your work and try your best, you will pass. she also responds to emails very quick which is also super helpful!!
This was an interesting & easy class. I learned a lot an enjoyed it. Read one chapter, take an open book quiz, and post a video discussing the topic each week. There's a six page term paper at the end of the semester. Professor Main was accessible outside of class, took time to discuss the term paper, and I got an A. Participate & you'll pass.
The class was great, but if you're camera shy beware: you will have to do video discussions.
I would love to take anthropology again! BEST PROFESSOR IN THIS DEPARTMENT
Her chapter summaries and homework were extremely helpful and are largely based on the textbook. The exams are fairly easy but make sure you don't procrastinate on it and start as soon as you can. She will notice if you do it the night before.
For the past two semesters, Professor Meredith Main is hands down one of the best professors to teach Cultural Anthropology. Its been a honor to have been one of her students. DEFINITELY TAKE THIS CLASS, you wont regret it!!!
Professor Main is a very fair grader and is easy to get ahold of and communicate with In this course expect - Weekly Video Discussions - Weekly Quizzes - A Midterm - A Final - A final group project To succeed - Read the text, a good handful of quiz and test questions cover textbook material - Communicate with your Prof and peers - Study as needed
There were video discussions each week along with a 15 questions quizzes. The topics you will be discussing in this class are very interesting and creative. She gives detailed feedback when she grades your assignment so you know how to improve yourself in this class. You will get a group project at the end of the semester.
10 out of 10!!
ANT2000 was my first anthropology course and I enjoyed it. Each week, Dr. Main uploads a video of herself explaining what's expected for the weekly assignment. What I enjoyed the most about ANT2000 is we discussed numerous topics which kept me interested. I would take this course again and I will recommend my peers to take it as well.
TAKE PROFESSOR MAIN, SHE IS A GREAT ANTHROPOLOGY PROFESSOR!
Mrs. Main was very kind and caring! If for any reason you couldn't do the assignment, she is very understanding and will give you a second opportunity. Also, her teaching method is very clear and easy to understand. An around a great class.
Dr. Main Sa was a wonderful professor who I look forward to taking again next semester. Expectations for assignments were clear and there were enough of them that a less-than-perfect score on any one will not kill your grade. There is a paper due at the end of the semester that can be time consuming, but as long as you plan ahead its no problem.
Professor Main provides an excellent tour of the intricacies of the study of anthropology, and does an excellent job challenging her students through unique and interesting assignments styles. I would highly recommend her as an instructor for anyone who is interested in learning about what the world is like outside their lives.
I really enjoyed this class. It wasn't too hard and the course work wasn't rigorous. Professor Main gave respectful due dates and an equal amount of time for everyone to finish their assignments and tests. I was able to keep up during the the whole semester with an A. Sometimes online classes can be confusing but this one was not.
Her class was very engaging and she is clearly passionate about the subject. The tests are not difficult and there isn't much homework. The final project was time-consuming, but it could be started early in the semester. The lectures include a lot of class discussion and the topics are very relevant.
Professor Main was a decent professor. I feel like my class was never on topic, and we never discussed the material we were supposed to. She mainly talked about her own fieldwork in Anthropology, without relating it back to the subject material. She was a cool person, but lacked structure to the course material.
Meredith was such a great professor. We went to the zoo one day as a field trip. There lectures were interesting and not too heavy. there was little homework outside of the weekly chapter readings. There was also a group project at the end which she was super accommodating for. The two tests were not hard and she gave you study guides that followed
She is very nice and will understand if you have anything else going on in your personal life. Very easy going class and video discussions definitely make this class. If you are taking anthropology i 100% recommend that you take her class.
Meredith Main is a professor for General Anthropology. She was a great professor throughout this whole course and taught me so much new information. The course consists of video discussions, quizzes, 2 exams, and a project. Overall, this was a very fun class and I am so happy that Meredith Main was my professor.
LOVED this class. Prof is really chill and the "discussion based" classroom style really worked for me. Would absolutely recommend. Attendance technically isn't mandatory, but she frequently pop quizzes right on the bell. so I wouldn't recommend skipping or being late.
I enjoyed this class and Professor Main! The lectures were short chapter overviews and easy to get through, be sure to read the textbook material too. Weekly chapter tests, short video discussions on prompts relating to that week's chapter (beware if you are camera shy), two exams, and one 'big' project that you work on throughout the semester.
Professor Main is AWESOME! She's hilarious. You can tell that she cares greatly about her students and their success. If you plan on taking this course, keep in mind that there are pop quizzes on the readings, so make sure you do them! Main is also very picky about essay formatting, but she makes her requirements very clear throughout the semester.
She was a good teacher but wasn't amazing. Make sure to be in class for pop quizzes or your grade will drop.
Professor Main is highly intelligent. She looks for active participation. Beware of pop quizzes, there are only 4. And they are only 2 questions, which will be discussed AFTER the pop quiz. She is checking to see if you read and retained the chapter information from the textbook, so know your stuff! She is a good Professor, and it was fun.
I loved taking this class with Meredith, she was so friendly and nice.Participation is mandatory but it made the class more fun and interesting having so many open conversations. There are a few quizzes and assignments but nothing harsh.I highly recommend taking this class or another of hers.Especially if you like to talk specifically about cultures
She's definitely well educated in anthropology and she is friendly, though I really disliked the pop quiz format, two questions before the lecture on the chapter. She easily got distracted from the lecture. Final was about climate change. Def dont take if introverted, otherwise youll do fine.
Discussions are annoying, all are video not written responses. Mini-ethno paper towards end of semester, got a lot of points off because it wasn't 6 full length pages though instuctions only said for it to have 6 pages to it. Prepare to talk about things you genuinly do not have an opinion about, and to act like you do. You're graded on that a lot.
Recommend as an online class, weekly video discussion post and quizzes based off the textbook and assigned readings and or videos. Manageable workload. Final is a PowerPoint and exam (multiple choice and essay questions). Only complaint would be that sometimes my emails would go unanswered.
Professor Main is very intelligent, kind and personable. The class is discussion based with lectures and readings. There were few assignments outside of the final project proposal and presentation, two question pop quizzes on the readings, and two exams. For the essays, she gives helpful study guides with the essay questions.
Main is very nice and responsive. She seems to have a gentle and loving heart. I believe she really does love being around students and teaching.
While she clearly has care in her field, taking the class is like putting your balls in a jar full of glass and then shaking it up and down. She sets due dates at 10 pm, and if it's even a minute late, you get a zero. She also forces who the source comes from for the final project, caring more about the racial identity of the author than expertise.
Professor Main had all of my assignments graded on time. Her instructions were clear on every assignment. I would definitely take the intro to anthropology class again.
Weekly assignments were a 3 minute video of yourself responding to a prompt (super easy) and a quiz- she is strict with late submissions so as long as you turn everything in on time you are good (usually 10 pm on thursdays). She is not a strict grader- you pretty much get a 100 for doing it. Would recommend.
I loved the structure of this course and Dr. Main made the material enjoyable. There are two or three incredibly easy exams, weekly video discussion posts, and weekly quizzes. The final project/paper is time consuming so do not wait until the last minute. As long as you follow instructions and put in some effort, you'll get an A.
