Dr. Keskinel is a great teacher. I really like the way he explains everythin. I took Econ 1 Honors with Shackelford and I got a high C. I got an A in econ 2 with Keskinel. He is a very intellegent person and he is very understanding
The best Econ teacher period!! Very fair and helpful. Lots of work and big tests, but if you study you will get an A.
He is a very nice teacher. He gives take home exam and it can be a lil bit hard but his multiple choice are easy if you read the text book. He writes something from the text book, so you dont really have to take notes if you dont want
At times he makes smart comments to students that are really funny. He knows his subject.
Even though he has an accent, his lectures are pretty clear... not so uptight about tardies, you sign yourself in... tests are easy but gradually it gets harder... take home and prob sets are a breeze just time consuming, can have partners.
His tests are hard, but read the textbook. Do his other stuff take home tests, and problem sets.
KESKINEL IS THE BOMB TEACHER. IF YOU ARE AN ECON MAJOR OR NOT, THIS IS THE BEST TEACHER TO TAKE. HE IS HILARIOUS AND REALLY KNOWS ECON THROUGHLY. DO YOUR WORK AND ITS AN EASY A
Man, this teacher is awesome! To bad he isn't teaching Econ 2 fall 2004.
As a teacher, he's awesome. Tests (consisting of mutilple choice/ short answer/ and take-home portion) get generally harder, but he curves and drops your lowest test score. Group research paper due. Lenient with attendance.
Mr Keskinel has been one of the best professors i have encounter at ECC, & I have finished most of my classes! He is funny enough to keep the class interesting and answers every question one can have.Anyone that must take econ 1 or 2 would be very happy to have him as his/her professor.I recommend hi
First of all he is not hot. and not easy. tests are not clear. you have to study hard. but the good thing about this teacher is the curve he makes.
Very good teacher. I would even say excellent in comparison to other professors of the topic.
i think he is the best teacher in el camino college
Trust me, when i say that this dude is sooooo kool. When I had him, he would just write all the notes 4rm the top of his head, no notes or anything. Yeah his test r a challenge, but go to his web page and print out the study guide, and check out the power points, ask questions & u will b fine.Peace out
Bless this man. Honestly, one of the best teachers ECC has. I hope he works there for a long time, he's got to be one of the best "new hires" ECC has seen in a while. ROCK ON!
He has an accent but you are able to understand him...I also found him to be helpful.
He's a nice teacher but i don't get the way he teaches. His tests are mostly applications (so it's either you know or you don't). I'm not saying not to take him because people have different opinions. Luckily, he grades on a curve or I would have failed. I had "C's" on my first 3 tests and since I had a perfect attendance he is giving me a "B."
Great guy, i never understood econ before, and this guy really got it through my head. Fun, understanding and humorous. If you have trouble with econ, take this guy!!!
Incredible professor! He does have an accent but I have to say his lectures are more clear than most native speaking professors at ECC. His tests do get progressively more difficult but he curves the test without telling you. Overall the material is difficult but you could not ask for a better teacher. Thank you Dr. K
fantastic teaher. easy to pass the class . very helpful.
very fun and charming teacher. helps you a lot and easy to pass his class
he is not easy. i toke him in winter and i hardly got a B. he is very intelegent but his tests are extremly hard. on the exams i knew all the material and thier concept but i couldent chose from the 4 or 5 answers of the multiple choice. thanks god i didnt take him for Econ 2.
great professor...hard at times but knows what he is talking about. ask questions and you will be his best friend...sometimes hard to understand with his accent but stilll and fun and easy teacher...
He is a really nice teacher. All of his test questions are from the notes and study guide, not from the book. Test are all multiple choice. He curves really nice too about 8%. He is really funny. You won't get bored in his class. However, he does have an accent, but it is understandable. He assigns exra credit assignments to people who needed it.
Loved this class!! He made it interesting although it was early in the morning. he's cute and his accent is super sexy. he knows his material, is prepared for class. reviews for tests are extremely helpful. scantron tests, easy if you pay attentin in class, read over notes and book. Highly reccomend him, he rocks!!
He is a very good teacher, and is very fair. His test are easy if you study for them, and he makes economics interesting because he relates it to real life. Very organized, and has a passion for teaching & economics. Recomended.
Keskinel is a highly structured, wonderfully straight-forward teacher. He gives you everything you need to know in the notes, and the tests are only difficult if you don't review or study before them. Maybe it's just me, but his accent makes him sound smarter. Take his class.
I don't know why he doesn't teach econ 2. He's very clear, very structured, funny. Tests do require application of knowledge so you should ask questions if you have them. I took him in summer (no projects but I'm not sure about spring or fall sememsters). There are easier teachers, but you will walk away with clear understanding of macro.
Awesome!!! Awesome Teacher!! Extremely helpful! Answers all of your questions with examples… until you understand the material. Easy going and homework is not that bad.
wtf he was HARD.
He is freak'n hoootttt!!!! =) Take him !!!
don't let the accent scare you! he is very organized, you know exactly what is expected of you. 4 tests, drop the lowest score. no projects. few hw assignments. he's hilarious, and willing to help. answers questions clearly. i highly recommend him!
This man is very knowledgabe in his field. He is a great professor and enjoys answering your questions. Not only that, he looks great in his jeans and has sexy eyes. If you can concentrate on what he's saying, you will do well.
LET ME TELL YOUUUU!!!! HE IS FRICKIN HOTTTT!!!! lool And he has an AMAZING ACCENT!!! All my friends luvd him!! SOOO EASYYY!!! I took him over winter session too...and it was caake!! TAKE HIM!! Such a sweet and funny guyyy!!! <3 The only reason i didnt take Econ II was bcuz he didnt teach it! <3 I LUV KESKINEL!!!!
Great teacher.
awsome professor~ he knows his stuff and can teach well. his lectures are interesting and his gradings are fair. you can easily pass if you show up to classes and take notes. getting an A is not hard. strongly recommend!!
I had taken a Econ 1 class before with a different teacher that made absolutely no sense what so ever. Prof. Keskinel's teaching is very clear and easy to fallow. He is also very open to students asking questions and makes sure everyone understands the course.
He is a really good teacher. He is very clear and is open to answering all questions. If you take good notes you will do good in the class. Most importantly he is very fair with his grading and often times is funny making the class easy to enjoy. I strongly recomend him.
take him, you'll be ok.
Agreed with the previous poster! Keskinel is the best! Gives detailed lectures on how the theories work and applies them to real life. Gives access to detailed lecture notes which will help with the (few) assignments and tests. He's also very approachable!
The Best ECON Prof in El Co! If you are an econ major, and can't get an A, find another major. His class is the easiest, but you will learn tons of stuff. Dr. Keskinel has great knowledge and he will answer any questions you have.He teaches straight to the point and explains easy. Only two HW and tests are M/C. Can't be easier. Highly Recomended!!!
Awesome Teacher! The Test is his notes so take notes, and study them!! He tells it how it is and literally so it is clear. It is like reading the book but do make sure to read the book so that you get a full pic of econ : )
Summer Session Online Course: 5 assignments (questions from text) plus exams are literally straight from the book. DON'T SLACK on the reading! It will pay off when taking exam. He is nice and communicates well online.
If you want a hard instructor, pick this one. He give 3 exams ,in which he have you study chapters out of the book, or use powerpoint presentations, then out of no where, give you an exam that has nothing to do with what you studied.
Dr. Keskinel is the easiest econ prof. in El Co. He has curve on his test and also offers extra credit. If you are an econ major, not getting an A in his class means you won't be an econ major. He is very knowledgeable since he has Ph.D in econ. His homework is very easy and gives full credit. Take the very best econ Prof. El Co! You won't regret
HE's a very nice guy, who will explain anything you didn't understand after class. He covers alot of material, he REALLY teaches you the material. His test are mostly aplication of microeconomics. Therefore, you have to understand the material for the test. He gives homework with 2 tests and a final. Grades on a 5% curve. I got a B in his class
A really good professor with a great sense of humor. He covers allot of material! Very approachable and wants the students to understand the material.Attendance is not mandatory, but You may miss extra credit opportunities.Tests get progressively harder, but it is all covered material.
I took his in-line course and thought it was excellent. He also responded to questions promptly and clearly. I would really recommend him as a professor.
Took his online class & he was basically absent the whole sem. except to give tests. He did not do anything to further explain the subject matter - just read the book and take tests. When asked questions about when something is due etc, takes a long time to get a response because he rarely ever went online. Final included chapters never covered.
he is hard, and doesnt communicate well but he means well. his tests were pretty hard, you have to love econ to get an A, i got a C on my first test, 80% on my second, and a 72 on my final, ended up wtih a B which i am so happy for! work hard and u can do it! its do-able! do ALL HW and DISCUSSIONS! you'll get a B, A if your an economist :]
A breath of fresh air after Inouye. He really helps his students and is very approachable and helpful. Take Keskinel.
I can't give a real rating because I never had contact with him. So I guess he's alright, cept if you're taking online hope you take it with a buddy or are willing to learn by yourself.
Keskinel is a reasonable instructor.Read the chapters, answer HW essays and take advantage of extra credit. Exams:T/F & multiple choice.Questions are a little challenging since the txtbook knowledge is applied. No one should get a grade lower than a B. Great class, Good Luck!
I took the online course with Keskinel. He's not helpful per se, mainly because he doesn't look over the homework, he just hands out the free points. The tests are moderately difficult; if you're an econ major though, you should be able to get through this class with ease.
took his online course. test is hard, but if you have a buddy, you can take it together with him like i did. dont remember much about him -- all i remember is i barely got an A. my friend, who messed up on finals got around 85-86% but he ended up with an A too. open book test, but dont depend too much cause you have time limit.
Great teacher! Easy class, read chapters and do homework. If you really do your work you will do fine on tests. Took him two semesters since he was so awesome!
His English wasn't great, but he was energetic and passionate about his field. On second thought his English was poor, and I felt like my English was worse after I heard him lecture an entire semester. I took his internet class and his grammar hasn't improved.
Took his online econ class. You can easily get B just by reading the assignments he assigns and do the discussions. His tests are pretty simple too they are straight out of reading assignments. drops the lowest test score. overall he is a great teacher but sometimes i feel that he is lazy.
Homework and discussion's must be done if you want to pass the class. Unfortunately, he does not review or grade your homework... basically you have no way of knowing if you did it right. Test were pretty difficult since I chose not to read after finding out he did not grade homework.
A person needs to take initiative to read the book, do the assignments, take part in the discussions, and do the tests. All of which, are simple if the student reads the book. Drops lowest test score, and final exam is NOT cumulative, which is awesome. He offers extra credit at end of semester to help boost grade. Do the work and get an A.
I enjoyed this teacher, but you must stay on top of all your assignments and discussions. Modules very helpful and practice test within the modules are valuable to see if you know the chapter your read. If you study hard and do your work you will really learn about economics and do well in his course .
Professor Keskinel is a great one! Class is not hard if you do whatever he gives you. There are 3 Exams only in the Summer term, and they're 70% of the total. Also he gives the opportunity of extra credit. I got an A in his class and I recommend him!
Summer session was a lot of work, but overall very good. Just read the book, do the homework on time, and all will be good. Definitely recommend.
Do not underestimate his tests. He gives full credit for homework, discussions and 1 extra credit assignment, but the tests are kinda hard. To get a decent score you have to know every detail in the textbook to answer the timed exams online. He's great, always available and will respond even when not in office hours.
This professor is amazing. I took his online course. He is very lenient when turning in work a bit late and I am honestly so grateful since it's not easy working and going to school at the same time. I learned everything(almost everything) at my own pace. I received an A in the course. Passing grades are easily attainable, I worked for my A.
decent professor, pretty lenient on homework & discussion questions. practice tests help for actual tests but he ended closing the final exam practice test before many students could take it. said he would drop the lowest test score & he never dropped mine. for an online class, he is EXTREMELY slow at responding to students.
I took him online so I never actually met him but he is well organized and I am now taking him for econ2. Take him.
I ended up really enjoying this class. Homework assignments were clear cut. There are required discussions that aren't that difficult. However, don't let his tests fool you. He may give a multiple choice test but be warned, they can be a little tricky. You MUST read to pass this class. Other than that great class!
Don't be fooled by the comments. This teacher takes forever to respond. Leaves you in the blue as to what to do next (post assignments late) and takes forever to respond to you messages and questions. Getting a B in the class right now, but annoyed by the slow response and untimely postings of assignments. Wouldn't recommend him.
Online Course. Read every Chapter, 1 thru 18 i think, do weekly HW online thru Aplia website, pay attn to graphs and curve problems, and post a discussion reply each wk. Basic, Obvious stuff IF u do the READING. MC Test were online, do the practice tests, gives u 48 hrs window to do tests. Good class for Online
If you like the type of teacher who is organized and lenient take him. He is a bit slow to respond but he cares about his students. He offers extra credit so even if you think you dont need it do it anyways it can really boost your grade. I agree with the tests being a bit tough, but just read the book and you will do fine. Study the practice tests
He forgot to put up the test but besides that he is a great professor. Grading is pretty split up in hw,discussions ,2 tests and a final. Tests can be hard, especially the final but if you make study groups you can easily get an A in the class. Make sure you read the text book, do the discussions on time and study for the tests.
Man, I took both his Econ 1 and Econ 2 online, that class was hard as heck because I didn't need econ for my major, but I was taking it to satisfy IGETC. Looking back on it, I laugh so hard because I never really put effort into learning the class and still got an A for both ECON 1 and 2 online.
weekly homework via Aplia, 3 tests but he drops lowest score + final, weekly discussions, modules are helpful, tests were tough
Hard Grader, miss a test and your out! But I didn't I made it!
Horrible!!!! don't take his online class, I am currently taking it and he does not respond to the emails I send. I have been emailing him for a week now about an assignment and he won't respond even though this is the only way we can communicate.
An Amazing professor ! Took his online class and i'm glad i chose him. He is very organized and responds quickly. I recommend Him!
Took Keskinel at Compton College because I need online class to complete my courses. He makes himself available, but I did not take the opportunity. During the world crisis, he is very FLEXIBLE! He makes sure everyone is accommodated which makes the semester feel good. Covid-19, protests, work, & personal, we are fortunate to have him. Good discuss
This guy is the best. He is caring and will allow late work. Awesome Professor!
Took his course online and it was a lot of work. Each week you had about 20 assignments and the class became more about trying to complete the work on time rather than actually trying to learn the material. The class is fairly easy to pass, but less homework assignments would allow us to actually learn the material.
Professor Keskinel has to be one of the best Econ2 professors at El Camino. He assigns a 20-question quiz every week and a discussion where commenting is optional. He is very flexible as late work is always accepted. Most quiz answers are online, but some aren't which forces you to learn the material. Take his class and you won't regret it.
You just read the modules, take good notes, and supplement it with YouTube videos if you don't understand something. Weekly discussion on the current module. No homework. The tests are based mostly on the quizzes. This is one of the most chill classes I have ever taken.
So his quizes and discussions are super easy. Then comes his exams. He does NOT let you know when they are, they just pop up randomly. Almost missed two They are not listed in the assignments page so he just posts them by surprise. He makes his exams 240 points each and final exam 360 points. Who does this? It makes your grade drop a lot. So Stupid
Barely any homework in this class, I just finished up the course last week and there was only two 15 question quizzes (3 attempts), and a discussion due on sunday. The real fault is how much the tests are worth. With such little in the gradebook and the tests being worth 240 pts and the final worth 360 pts w/ only 75-85 min, it's a bit stressful.
I took his class this summer and I have no complaints! Modules, discussion posts, and quizzes are due every week! Textbook not required. All readings are online. Two midterms and one final exam.
Easy stress-free class. Assignments are easy and not a lot. They are basically the same every week, a discussion and quiz. Quizes and Exams are easy.
He's a nice professor; not a lot of assignments in his course. He also reminded me and gave me a chance to submit the extra credit assignment even though it passed the deadline.
I never leave reviews but DO NOT take this professor I got nothing but As but this class was rough. Final Counts for 30% of grade 2 mid term exams count for 40% with little time to complete. The weekly quizzes are nice 3 attempts lots of time to do it but guess what NONE of those questions on the quiz are on the midterm or final. GOOD LUCK
If you want an A, stay far away from this professor and don't let the free textbook thing fool you. The course is disorganized and there are very few things that your grade is based on. No practice problems so you will spend time reading and making notes on topics that won't be tested, it has been truly the most dreadful experience I have had here.
Short weekly quizzes, weekly discussion posts, and monthly exams are pretty much it. Material is easy to find online when you're struggling to find it in the modules. Just do all the assignments and you'll be fine.
Mr Keskinel is very understanding. Easy to communicate with. Does give a lot of quiz and test. READ READ READ! if you do not read the material, this will be a difficult course to take! other than that, easy. Only reason i earned a B was because i thought i could slip by skimming through the text book. wrong. A to C. To a B. should have been an A
The professor DID NOT teach. They sent videos of other professors teaching. I felt dumb spending my money paying for a class that I could access on my own via youtube. It wasn't necessarily difficult but because the graded quizzes and exams are "open book" the material in the quizzes and exams doesn't match the materials you may have studied.
literally easiest economics class I've ever taken, take this professor, free A.
Pros: - The professor seems nice Cons: - Tests count for 66% of your grade - You don't have enough time to complete exams. You get a little over an hour to complete 40 questions. - There is no real study guide for exams, and you can't use quiz questions to study because they become locked upon completion. - There is a lot of reading
Weekly quizzes that arent too bad, but his lectures are impossible to follow at times. He has a Turkish accent which can make it hard to understand at times, and his lecture is so scattered I've forgotten what he is teaching 5 minutes in. Basically just reading the textbook and going in the for the exams, which Is not my style of learning.
This class only has weekly discussions and quizzes. The tests have a lot of questions, but as long as you study the graph section, you won't fail. I recommend taking this class if you want to easily get an A or fill your GE requirement.
