-very well organized, easy to organize other courses around
He can actually teach and he has a sense of humor, highly recommended
great prof, very helpful lectures and a good humour....wonderful
brilliant man, great professor!!
HE'S THE MAN
material was a joke! Stubborn and arogant
No Comments
great prof, remembers your name.
everybody loves merv!!
great teacher, entertaining, exams start out hard, but you learn to deal w/them
very knowledgeable prof - gives good advice
Turned boring subject interesting because of his great sense of humour
The man should be given an award.
Don't come much better than this man. I mean who else can make stats interesting
Makes note-taking easy so you can pay attention. Great Prof! Highly reccomended
this guy knows..

Excellent
great prof, makes everything easy to understand..exams can be tricky though

This man knows his ****! Awsome guy! Great Prof, smart man!
Amazingly talented. Has the ability to make any subject easy to learn in a clear and understandable fashion. Could even teach a monkey to drive a car if he wanted. Dont miss out on Mosher.
Excellent teacher!!! If only he taught more courses...I'd be passing them with flying colours and actually retaining what I learn!
Absolutely the best kine prof at york...take all his courses...some of the exams are tricky, but do all the practice ones and you'll be fine...we need more profs like him.

GREAT PROF! VERY CLEAR AND THOROUGH WITH THE MATERIAL. VERY HELPFUL THROUGH EMAIL AND IN PERSON. ONE OF THE BEST KINE PROFS I HAVE EVER HAD!!!
This guy is the greatest. He is the most useful prof of all in York Univeristy. They better not let him go. He should get more pay cuz he rocks
He's very helpful as a prof and an advisor. Approachable and likeable. Has a great music collection;)

Great prof. Gets the message across clearly. Is fair as well.
EXCELLENT professor. Started most classes off with a little bit of music and made ALL the lectures EXTREMELY interesting no matter how dull the subject matter may have been!! VERY approachable guy who's always willing to help with a smile!!!
I have had 3 classes with him, his tests are more difficult than most, but he is a very good lecturer. He is very good at explaining concepts and will never not answer a question. This man is an academic advisor for a good reason.
simply stated...God's gift to the Kinesiolgy students at York.

difficult tests
the lectures are not hard to follow, but be prepared for the midterms. too many difficult questions in too little time.
He could take any topic and make it interesting and easy to follow. Very helpfull as well, wants students to learn. Just watch out for the Motor Learning final, he throws a curve ball at you.
great prof, amazing man, very understanding and approachable but very tricky on his tests - make sure you read the questions VERY THOROUGHLY - easy lab marks
One of my favourite professors. Really nice and really tries to help.
Merv Rocks! he's the go to guy on campus! but his tests can be somewhat hard because of time constraints
gotta love music blasting at 8.30am on a friday
he helps students a lot not just with school but he'll give you advice for life...the most logical person i've ever met....Merv is the man!
Merv, by far, is the best prof! He is so charismatic and full of life. He is definatley sent from heaven! Merv, keep on teaching the way you do, you are AMAZING!
Yeahhhhh MOsher! Great charatcer, great lectures.
great guy, clear on lectures, and knows how to make you understand complicated concepts, EXTREMELLY HARD EXAMS,
We need more professors like him on campus! This guy even plays some music before lecture starts to keep people awake (though his taste in music isn't that great)
Great prof..makes the most complex concept easy to understand..exams are a little hard though
An amazing prof.. but even more of an amazing person.. never seen someone who cares so much about us students
Bad man!
Two Words...MERV ROCKS! How many profs have a web cast lecture in place for the convenience of students. Although his exams are tricky, they are very fair. He is approachable and replies quickly to email questions. One of the best profs. at york hands down!
Merv is an excellent teacher. So far he has been my favorite prof. He is very clear about what he is explaing and makes coming to class very enjoyable. He also posts his lectures on web-ct which makes it very useful when u have to miss a class. You will defiently enjoy being taught by this prof!
An amazin prof but the test are extremely hard. very useful online lectures.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! He know's what he's teaching and will make sure you know your stuff. His exams are pretty tricky but you'll get a hang of it. He'll make the material easier to learn.
Best prof hands down. Very accessible, makes learnding fun. Always answers any questions available and also offers past tests and even exams!!!
An absolutely awesome prof! He teaches in a way that makes it very easy to understand. He never makes you feel stupid. He's interested in what he teaches, and very knowledgable. Also,he makes tons of resources available to you: webct (online lectures), past tests/exams, appointments, etc
Big jackass. good guy.. but his tests are riddiculously hard and make u think ur stupid and that you dont know your stuff. i dont understand why he incorporates stats into EVERYTHING. he wants me to not go to med school... good prof and style.. but brutal tests
Best proff in KIN by far...his lectures are very interesting, and he makes every little thing as clear as possible. His tests are brutal, but in the end you learn out to escape his tricky questions! no more Merv for 4th year, but hes amazing!
I never knew someone could talk about nothing for so long...great person though..
Great professor... had him back in '97-'99
If you have a math background this is the easiest course ever. he teaches as if no one has taken any math course before. however some of the questions on the tests have more to do with english than stats.
BEST prof I've ever had. Breaks things down and explains them really well. all midterms were fair. I studied hard for all his classes and did well in all of them. You cant hold your weakness against a professor that tries so hard to explain things to each and everyone regardless of background each person possesses. I learned so much from him!
great lecturer, extremely helpful, tests can be hard if you aren't prepared. he tells you on the first day what the course will be, and the boundaries are clear and definite. you'll never be confused.every professor should be like this
Prof Mosher is a GREAT lecturer. He captures the attention and interest of his students. His conveys ideas and concepts very clearly and concise. His lecture notes are not the best but he always answers questions and is pretty approachable. In regards to tests, his multiple choice is probably the most challenging I have ever encountered.
Hes very bald. you see reflections on his head from every source of light in the room. very tricky tests, but a good prof, kind of a jerk, but i like that.
Best professor I have had in this department. He is very organized and his lectures are extremely clear and straight forward. He is very good at keeping your attention even if the material is bland.
BEST PROF EVER! I was dreading stats but merv relates the boring concepts to current events (sports, exercise) to get his point across...keeps lectures fun...very clear on everything taught...exams are really hard, so lots of studying is a must..ps--> dont skip the first 2 exams hoping you will do amazing on the last one..DOESNT WORK!!
2049, 2050, & 3020, and he never failed to amaze me. Yes, his tests are challenging, but only because they force you to think critically and apply your knowledge. But his lectures are very clear & precise, and all of the material is available to you in one booklet (lectures, labs, & text) so you don't have to buy anything else.
Tells us us to be skeptical..here is something, he teaches 4 courses, but doesnt have a PhD, doubt he even has a degree, he's a volleyball coach!. His courses had irrelevant material except stats. Exams are hard as they cover alot of useless readings and pointless time consuming labs and questions meant to keep the average low. Avoid at all costs!
Ignore the negative comments written on here. He is the best professor at YorkU and takes the initiative to make sure that all of his students succeed. If you are not willing to challenge yourself then this is not the best place for you. He must have high ratings because for one, he teaches 3 kine courses, which clearly shows that he is appreciate
Mosher is the best prof ive had at York. His tests can be tricky but are ALOT easier if u get your hands on previous years exams. The material he teaches actually sticks with you after the class.
Awesome teacher, interesting lectures. Makes class fun!
He is amzaing! I like him soooooooo much!
he is the absolutly best prof at York, had him for research methods, stats and motor learning, VERY interesting lectures even the most boring concepts he managed to make intesresting. tests may be challanging but if you do all the readings and all the problems assigned you can def end up with an A, practice tests really help....i ended up with A`s
very good prof
Be skeptical people!!! :))) oh how I like that! really nice prof and interesting lectures!tests are tricky but if you do the readings and the practice quizzes that he posts on webct, you'll do just fine! he is funny, approchable, smart, wise :D and the lectures are just great!i can say that no one is like him in the entire kinesiology department!
the best.
What did I learn from his lectures
Hey, if i can get an A+, he's a great prof LOL.
Wow, I hate this mans exams. Written in German!!!!
I love this guy! Ok, so his tests can be a little tricky at times, but if you can get a hold of his old tests, you should be fine. Merv is an enthusiastic prof with great explanations, which makes his lectures whiz by. I'm dissappointed that I've already taken all the courses he teaches. Rock on Mosher!
Likes to be right and uses information to his advantage. When proven wrong, he will not admit it.
Amazing! Very good at lecturing.
The course material seemed really easy to me. But the exams were not. I ended up with a good grade in the course. Definitely attend all labs, and do all the readings. He also posts all his lectures online. I personally found it helpful to attend class, and then listen to his lecture again online.
He is the ultimate definition of an awesome professor! His teaching style is great. He's extremely helpful- he posts up his video lectures and the past year's midterms inorder to give the students an idea of what the exam would look like. And he must be the only professor who replies to your webct posts within minutes! :D
Merv goes above and beyond to help you succeed.
Awesome awesome prof, had him both for 2049 and 2050. He is extremely helpful also very organized, in terms of lecture material, and labs. However, I found the textbook material very difficult to understand. I tried to study from it but it just got me more confused. I still did very well without the text.
He is a great lecturer, he takes information that is simple compares it to lame references and makes simple concepts extremely difficult. I learned nothing from his class and hate the fact that everyone thinks he is so great at what he does. His material is simple and yet his tests are extremely difficult. WHY?
There is no content to 3020, I didn't learn a thing, I can't believe this man is up for lecturer awards, he's so bad, I could get paid to put useless simple concepts to real life references too. The kicker his tests. So hard cause we wants to keep the marks low to keep his job. I wish the course eval still up! I'd like to tear him a new one!
He's not really that good. He appears like a friendly teacher that wants his students to succeed, but he bombs the finals and the class avg ends up the same as the rest. No doubt he's smart and skeptical but didn't learn much from him.
He is one of the best profs at YORK UNIVERSITY. He tired all possible ways to make u like the course and get the highest grade possible :)
He's honestly one of best professors I've come across and believe me I'm not trying to kiss nobodies ass by making that statement. The man just knows how to lecture. Only draw back is that his exams are some what difficult. But aside from that, great professor.
Not a fan of his sarcasm- "You're a Kine student so I'm sure you work out everyday..." .. " if you did your homework you would know this.. right.." .. too condescending for my liking.
I have a lot of respect for this man, great lecturer, but I had a hard time with his exams. I got to know him outside of class, and he is a stand up guy IMHO. I just wish I did better, though that could very well be my fault, not his.
Great lecturer! He made going to lectures enjoyable. Teaches the material very well, and his exams are fair. Probably the best prof in the kinesiology department
Great prof! You will see him for 3 classes in kine. He isn't easy but just review his sample tests and don't fall for his tricks on the tests!
just awesome! his lecture is just crystal clear. amazing lecturer. He gives lots of examples and keeps it interesting. Do the work and read the questions then you will just do FINE!
At the very core, an extraordinarily systemic man, believing in procedures and functions, perhaps akin to his affinity for using stats and excel to determine the meaning of life. His abrasiveness and skepticism mask his shrewd and rather sarcastic personality. Brace yourselves Kine students, you'll have this guy three times in two years.
He is the best Prof I have had in my University career. He is clear, to the point and very knowledge in his field. He is active on moodle like no other profs, he will answer every question on the discussion board if necessary. He is most of all fair. I have the greatest respect for Merv Mosher.
great prof! i learned a lot taking 2049/2050 with him. he explains everything very well, he is clear and very helpful! always replys on moodle. he exams are a bit difficult, but if you do the 2 midterms, go to class, and study then you will do well! i highly recommend this prof! :)
AMAZING PROF!!
A really good prof!!! Replies to e-mails very quickly, and is active on moodle as well. When he explains concepts, it is always very clear, I have never been confused. I think his tests are pretty fair, and overall if you put in effort when it comes to studying, it is very much possible to get an A :)
Great Course. Greater Prof. Work hard, and don't slack. You will end up with a good mark.
Get used to this guy if you are in Kine because you are going to be seeing a lot of him! Great prof, very clear, records lectures and always helpful. Exams are fair. If you study you should do well. He does try and trick you a little on exams but it allows you to be analytical. Overall great guy!
I've never heard anyone say anything bad about Merv, prob one of the best profs at york. Funny, makes a pretty boring class interesting, tests are easy but he does trick a bit so read carefully, very approachable, quick/friendly reply to emails. Just make sure you read and keep up with the work.
Great Prof!! Will understand everything when he teaches it especially stats. Replies to email within minutes and very approachable. His lectures are recorded. Previous tests given to study and if you cover all the material he taught-you should do fine.
Amazing professor, honestly one of the best at York. Does anything and everything in his power to ensure you do well in his courses.
Excellent Prof. Very enthusiastic about the topic, helpful, clear. Lectures and ppts were concise and clear. I don't like the subject but because he was enthusiastic about it, he made it seem more fun. Very helpful, always responds to posted questions and emails. LOVED the course kit. everything you need is in there! overall great prof!
never knew someone could actually make stats interesting.....hilarious guy as well
Made a otherwise boring and confusing subject more interesting, and completely understandable. Breaks everthing down, so just keep up with the notetaking in class, DO the LABS, and do the practise questions, and you'll be fine! Hands down best prof:)
He is, hands down, one of the best professors at YorkU. It was a pleasure being in all his three courses.
He is what all professors should be like... perfect instructor!! Goes out of his way to help the students! Great lecturer, I love listening to him and he has made research methods fun and interesting!!!
Merv is honestly such a wonderful professor. He genuinely wants his students to succeed in the course. His lectures are really clear with lots of applicable examples. When he says that if you come to class and do the labs, you'll do well, he really means it. The final was really straight forward with a clear intention of helping us succeed.
He may not have a PhD like most but he is by far one of the best profs ever. Takes the time to address students' concerns (literally replies to you in 5 minutes). Evaluations are fair and he is able to make any class interesting. Connects ideas to real life topics and reminds us all the importance of being skeptical. Incredibly enjoyable prof.
He has won awards for his lecture style and you can tell why. What I will say is that his tests are unlike what you will see in any other course. Questions will always be fair, but often unexpected so details are important. He is generous with grade bumps because he wants you to succeed, though you will definitely have to earn every inch of it.
Merv is the best prof at york. I've had him for 3 courses and he has been amazing in all 3. His test questions make you think but if you know your material you'll do fine. He is also quite active on moodle and will respond to posts/emails very quickly.
Excellent prof. Very helpful. Replies on moodle very fast. Genuinly wants his students to succeed. Tests are VERY tricky. Gives you tests from previous years, current tests are structured exactly the same way. Do the labs and know the readings inside out and you'll be okay.
best professor at york
His class of STATS is quite hard in terms of quizzes and exams, i failed all 3 even though i prepared like any other exam, but his q's are WAYYYYYY too hard......... I would have passed his class if he had bell curved, but in lecture he said there's no such thing as bell curve (N), overall try to avoid this professor
Prof. Mosher is an amazing! I've had him for 3 courses and he was amazing in all of them. He makes difficult concepts easy to understand and will post previous exams on moodle for you to use as a study guide. His exam questions can be tricky, but if you know you the material you'll do fine.
He responds to emails and moodle posts quickly so you get an answer to your question quickly. Overall, he's an awesome prof and do your self a favour and take a class with him!
Honestly, Merv is the best professor you will ever come across in York. he helps you get a good grade every way he can. His lectures are very important and fun at the same. not a hard course, just understand the concepts behind it and youll be good. Love Mosherrrrrrr.
Great prof, definitely wants the best for all his students. Very clear with concepts, and records lectures.
Mosher is an amazing prof! He teaches you in a way you'll understand and rmbr. His lectures are crystal clear. Very organized. Tells class material to real life situations. Responds to emails and Moodle discussion posts quickly.Tests not meant to trick you at all like other profs. Marks are up within days. He wastes no time. RECOMMENDED!
he is an amazing teacher! his tests can be pretty challenging sometimes but his teaching is excellent! he can make the most boring thing sound interesting and explains everything very clearly! wish he taught more courses!
A great prof! His materials and lectures are helpful and it also helps to go to the lab as my ta was very understanding and helpful. His tests are hard though so be aware but his material isn't. Still a good prof
A great prof! His materials and lectures are helpful and it also helps to go to the lab as my ta was very understanding and helpful. His tests are hard though so be aware but his material isn't. Stats is easy math just have to know your way around calculations. I did every question in the book 3 times becus I love math and it was easy:)
One of the best at York, very clear, great teaching style, definently not boring and VERY fair exams, cares about his students, you get the mark you deserve. Should do the readings, exercises, labs and midterms and study the course kit as well as the textbook and you'll get your A
Dr Mosher is awesome... Crystal clear about the material that he teaches. I hope he teaches more courses ! One can never get enough of him because he is simply the best!
Merv is the best professor I've had at York so far. He makes boring topics like research methods and stats actually pretty fun! He is able to clearly teach concepts and provide a comfortable learning environment for all his students.
For a class with boring material, Merv makes it very interesting! He is the best professor I've had so far. His exams are optional and can be added on to the final which makes things less stressful. He gives a lot of practice questions in class to help you understand the material better.
Merv is a G. Very fair and straightforward, lectures are always enjoyable. If you put in the effort and do your work, you'll get that A/A+.
My favourite prof at york!! His lectures flew by... never a dull moment! Knows how to explain the material very well. Although.. his exams are tricky!
Merv is still my favourite prof ever. He is very fair - you will get the grade you deserve depending on how much work you put in. Do every lab, you will be tested on it. Go to class, it is easy to fall behind in the hard courses he teaches but you wouldn't want to miss a class anyway, its full of laughs and he explains concepts in a fool-proof way
This guy is a natural born teacher. Not only does he make the material engaging and humorous but he adds in anecdotal life advice and wisdom. If all teachers were like him it would change the world. That is not an exaggeration.
Great at explaining, Tests are impossible, exam is even worse
I absolutely love this professor! He explains materials so well. Hands down, he's one of the best professors at york. If you pay attention in class and review before midterms, you'll do fine. This is university, not high school! Do your work and you'll get the mark you deserve!!!
His lecture slides are not clear - reading from the course kit slides is not that helpful... and is actually confusing... the information on lecture slides is all over the place and is unorganized. He has a huge list of readings for us to do. I think if he explained things more clearly in class we wouldn't have to depend on all those readings.
For those people who think the readings are extensive, WHICH they are not, what do you expect in university? Each chapter is composed of less than 10 pages and they're pretty straightforward. His exams are fair, they require application more than memorization. You must understand the material. His lecture notes are BEYOND easy to follow. :)
This is coming from an someone that has taken the credit exclusions and taken his classes. He is not the best professor at york, there are others out there that are way better than him. Makes a simple subject harder than it seems. Has an attitude that should be directed to high school students. Do the readings and the labs.
Merv is a prof of the people, does what ever he can to help out. Tests were easy so where the labs, overall a great professor and you'll most likely see him 2 more times for your kine classes.
love him
he's the best
Merv is THE MAN. You'll have him for 3 courses in your career at York if you're a kine student and he's one of the best profs around. Always helpful and prompt with replies to emails. Very clear lecturing style, gives you clear expectations and makes his courses as fair as possible.
One of the best profs at York. Clear and concise... just attend lecture/listen to recordings and you'll be fine.
He's very approachable and cares about his students! Dumbs down everything and makes the material idiot proof! Clear and simple! BUT pisses me off when he says "those people who don't do the labs/midterms preform poorly in the course" Bull! I never did the labs/readings/midterms and got straight A+'s! His stuff is simple and his lectures are great
His tests can be tricky if you do not focus on the details. Read the TEXTBOOK and do the LABS. He provides also Quiz samples which are so helpful.
AWESOME prof! absolutely one of the best profs I've had so far! tests are SUPER EASY if you read the text ! final was way easier than the midterms ! overall its an easy A+ if you put the effort into it!
This guy is not the best nor the worst his teaching methods are really easy but if screws his students on the midterms and exams. Can be arrogant person to deal with. Tip do not do his first midterm. Exam was brutal!
He is a wonderful professor. He teaches the course materials as clearly as possible. Exams are also fair and if you study you will be able to get a good mark.
Very good prof. While the course itself is a bit dry, he does his best to make it interesting. Also he takes the time to help students learn the material, from a well written course pack to video recordings of every lecture. His exams are fair as long as you know the lecture and lab content.
Nice shiny head :D But seriously a great prof.
Great Professor, One of the best at York! Natural teacher, his teaching techniques are very effective and he breaks down everything so students can see where they make mistakes. Makes stats interesting and very useful course which you will use in your future studies down the road.
Hands down one of the best professors at York.
He is great in terms of being friendly and helpful. His lectures are clear. The exams are fairly hard but if you study you can get B/B+.DO ALL THE TESTS and don't do 100% final exam
One of the best professors at York. Honestly i love this man! God bless him. hes an amaaazing educator and is super helpful, really wants his students to well and his exams are very fair, nothing outside of what you learn just study.
GREAT PROF! Very clear, concise and willing to help. He's entertaining and very fair with his tests. The lectures are recorded and there is no textbook required other than the course kit.
He is funny, and a great lecturer. I would definitely take this class again. Not an easy course but very interesting. Not boring at all.
Lectures on very straight forward, easy information but assigns readings with much more complex material that he barely covers in lecture. He literally can spend 10 minutes explaining why multi-tasking doesn't work but doesn't cover the complicated equations presented in readings. otherwise seems like a nice guy.
Mosher is one of the best profs in Kinesiology in terms of teaching ability. He makes things very clear and understandable BUT, his tests are ridiculous. He expects us to know 100+ pages worth on required readings plus course notes material. His test questions are often ambigious and open for interpretation.
he's really good at explaining and making terms clear however manages to make midterms super difficult from very easy, basic material. for midterms you're required to read long, repetitive readings and know all labs. questions on midterms very vague and answers are very debatable. midterms are unnecessarily hard and open to interpretation
Honestly with all due respect to Merv (he's a great guy) this course was kinda redundant. Just taking very simple concepts and dressing them up with tons of terminology and lists. Just feel like it wasnt a productive course in terms of learning something useful.
An amazing professor with amazing teaching abilities
Mosher needs to be cloned and teach all the courses at york
Course was amazing! Mosher is hilarious!! Actually ENJOY going to lectures. exams were easy if you DO THE LABS AND READINGS! He definitely puts questions from the readings and labs! lectures are recorded so if you miss class there are there. overall, one of the best professors i've had. :)
No matter how long I studied, read over notes, read the readings and covered the labs, the tests were still confusing and tricky. Its almost like he was trying to trick you. I kid you not, during the final, he made 1 or 2 true and false where A was false and B was true. Not necessary.
Amazing teacher! Loved going to his lectures, he really clarifies the readings. If you go to all the labs and do the readings, you can easily get atleast a B.
honestly this man is a gem. hilarious lectures, really cares about his students. if you study, you will do well. truly an asset to york university!!
He makes a bad course, bearable. He is a very good lecturer and makes the course interesting and he is a very nice person if you talk to him.
Mosher is a good prof, amazing lectures but you have to do his readings before the lecture. Labs were an easy 10% and its a good idea to focus on them as a lot of 2 mark questions were for the lab portion on final. Overall if you do the readings, do labs, and attend his lectures you should get a decent mark. Do all the midterms!
Overall, he is an amazing professor. However, the final might be tough. Do not take 100% final. Do your best on labs, quizzes, & midterms then AA+ is definitely attainable.
I want a university professor that wants students to learn and take something valuable from education.... is that too much to ask??? Merv Mosher is a professor I will remember for eternity.
AMAZING PROF! but the exams are brutal!
I had Professor Mosher Kine 2049, Kine 2050, and Kine 3020).He was by far one of the most inspirational profs I had. He really cares about students and wants you to do well. If he taught more courses, I would take another course with him. I learned a lot from him from an educational perspective and he does go off tangents a bit which was good.
Best kine prof yet
Definitely the best professor I have had in undergrad so far! One of the rare cases where I actually enjoy going to class. Grading scheme is VERY clear and the tests are not tricky, very straight forward. Answers emails and questions on moodle very promptly. Overall, very helpful and enjoyable class.
My opinion may be biased because of my not so great mark -.-. But I found his tests very tough. I kept up with the material, but for a bullsh*t course, the questions were unreasonably hard and confusing. That pissed me off. Other than that, he is a great lecturer, But I don't care about that, I care about my GPA.
Hands down, best prof at York. He has some of the worst classes but actually makes them really interesting. Whoever says he is a bad prof didn't get a good grade in his class. And getting a good grade is easy.
Merv is a top notch lecturer. I got an A+ in the course and the key is to know the readings inside out. He makes an awful course bearable with his enthusiasm, great examples and occasional humor. (he will hopefully bahh like a sheep around 3 times during the term like he did for us -- awesome). He is simply a good person, try asking questions.
Merv is a great lecturer, you can really tell he enjoys being there and interacting with students. He explains concepts well and provide people with opportunities to do well in the course (labs). He also bumps you, if you do better on your exam than your tests!
I had him for 2049 and now have him for 2050 and I have to say he is one of the best profs I've had so far. When I say best, I do not mean easy but he really makes sure that everything is clear and help is always there when needed. Tests are difficult but fair if you understand the material. Labsonline reading quizzes are free marks pretty much.
He is one of the best professor at York. He is very informative and helpful. I was in his KINE 2049, KINE 2050 and KINE 3020 and I enjoyed all of them very much. He is also the only professor who never ask you to line up at the zoo i.e bookstore at the beginning of the term for textbooks, he would ask the book vendor to come into class for you.
He is a great professor who genuinely cares for the well being of his students. He makes statistics a fun subject to learn about and use it in real life situations. We had this course while YORK went on strike and he remained positive throughout the tough times and choose student's success and convenience over everything else.
350 characters isn't enough to tell you all the good things about him. Fantastic teacher (clear, concise explanations, goes over material many times). Puts in lots of time & effort. Subject matter is boring at times but if anyone can make you tolerate it, it's him. All course work aside from the exam is optional and an A+ is relatively easy to get.
Great prof! Very clear, helpful and punctual.
My favourite professor throughout my undergrad at york. Merv is extremely passionate about the courses that he teaches. He was truly inspiring and I loved every minute of his class.
By far the best prof I've had yet!! I sincerely enjoyed class. Prof Mosher is a clear, concise, and interesting lecturer. He focuses on what's important, so it's very helpful to go to class. He went above and beyond his responsibilities during the strike, providing us with constant updates and encouragement. I want to take all Merv's classes!!
Best. Prof. Ever. I wish Mosher would teach all my courses!!! He teaches the material very clearly and connects it to real world examples. His tests are easy if you practice and attend lectures. And the course kits are sold in class straight from the publisher! much cheaper that way! thank you! He's awesome!
10/10
BEST PROF EVER! if you UNDERESTAND the material test will be a piece of pie. prof mosher is an incredible person, he knows the best way of teaching you something that will stick to your mind for the rest of your life. Wish there we more courses to take with him... his jokes are hilarious too lol
Awesome professor! Explains concepts clearly and makes them interesting. Does not make anyone feel afraid of asking questions. He is very welcoming.
Merv Mosher is an excellent professor. He really cares about his students and about doing his job well. His lectures are always interesting, and he provides good real-world examples to clarify the concepts taught in the course. I'm looking forward to more classes with him.
Prof Mosher is a great teacher but his tests and exams are super weird. Either you get his style or you dont. I personally didnt enjoy taking courses with him because of the stress the exams and tests caused me. I ended up doing fairly well in his upper year courses though but it I till date dont get his style of testing.
Not as easy to get an A in this course. He's approachable, makes content/concepts clear & understandable, but memorizing definitions/topics is NOT ENOUGH! You have to really be able to think critically & apply those concepts to the type of questions he asks. Do NOT choose 100% final - that will undoubtedly bring your mark down a letter grade!
His tests are way too difficult.
Midterms are way easier than the final so write them. labs are easy 10% (trust me u will need it). I thought the final was really hard but still some how ended up with a really good overall course mark. #BeSkeptical
Did really well on the 2 optional tests and went to every single lab but found the final exam very difficult. Be sure to study the lab material because it's worth a good amount on the tests and exam. He's a really good professor who makes good jokes here & there. Not a bird course but effort doesn't betray you so do the work and you'll be fine.
AMAZING Lectuerer if thats a word, he is very clear and specific and makes going to lecture fun. He teachers very well and always lets us know what type of mistakes students make most often. His tests are a little tricky so make sure you know ur stuff and write down any articles he mentions in class and its connection to class topics.
Absolutely one of the best, if not, the best professors I've taken at York. I'm not even in a kinesiology major so I didn't know the basics of anything KINE, but I got a grade I'm really happy about, thanks to this prof and his course. He's funny, he's there for you, he's welcoming for questions, and seems sarcastic but really isn't.
After doing 2 degrees, Merv is my absolute favourite- I will never forget him! Explains concepts thoroughly and meaningfully - he was born to teach, a rare experience in the university world! Easy to do well - go to lecture & labs, write all tests. He leaves the mark in your hands essentially through your willingness to succeed.
As a lecturer, he's amazing. Probably one of the best at York--he's very clear and explains concepts well and he tries to make the class entertaining. He's great to listen to. However, I absolutely HATED his tests and exams. I'm an A student but the lowest marks on my degree progress report are from his classes. Labs help raise your mark.
Yes this guy is a great lecturer. But his courses are my worst grades in my university career. His tests are very difficult.
His exams are way too hard but I loved his style of teaching
HE IS A GOLDEN GOD.
I think he is an interesting lecturer, but his course objectives are not in line with what he tests. Professor Mosher tests students on information that he doesn't cover in the course. His Kine 2049 course is supposed to make students "be skeptical", but the only thing I am skeptical about is his testing.
This course should not involve the labs and course material together. Mosher is not a fair professor. He expects his students to know things that he doesn't teach. He teaches students as if we already know the information and it isn't fair. He asks students about terms on the tests that you don't even learn about and it is pathetic.
Seems like a fair person until you see what he tests on. One of the most unfair professors I have ever had
You can attend the lectures which are interesting, but everything he teaches in the lectures is worded differently on the test. He is very unfair. I am doing well in the class, but I got lucky from guessing on some questions on the tests. HIS TESTS ARE BRUTAL and the labs just don't go with the course.
Just don't understand his teaching method. Avoid this class and professor if you can.
Went by his lectures and his textbook and still no luck on doing well in this course. He is a great lecturer, but he needs to be more fair with his tests.
A great lecturer. The examples he gives for explaining concepts are the best. The lab questions on the tests are unnecessarily complicating, so make sure you spend a lot of time studying the labs.
I will admit he is great at lecturing. He clarifies concepts in a way that makes them easy to understand. He puts a lot of work into organizing the course, textbooks and his slides. HOWEVER.... when it comes to his tests, he makes easy content WAY more complicated than it really needs to be.
Mosher's exam are BRUTAL! No one understands the labs and without knowing them your gonna fail the course. If you do take this class be prepared to work your ass off because its gonna be the hardest class you have ever taken. He seems like a really fair guy when he lectures in class but don't be fooled by that. I repeat his exams are brutal.
Merv Mosher is an amazing lecturer but I found his evaluations tough as it is very theory based and a big portion is from the labs. The lab portion of this course in my opinion has nothing to do with the actual course which makes the evaluations harder. Overall a great lecturer and very inspirational but tough evaluations.
This is the third course I have taken with him. One of the best profs York has. Yes there's a lot of reading for his courses, and yes you actually have to study for his class and because of that some people may not like him but he taught us some great life lessons. Just make sure you study for the exams, like you should be in the first place
Amazing lecturer you will not fall asleep in his lecture. Had him for three years. Very approachable and confident with what he teaches.
Decent prof, but his lectures and notes he provides are pretty disorganized which makes it hard to study for his evaluations. His tests aren't hard, but he puts a lot of poorly worded/ambiguous questions on his tests which is really frustrating.
Good lecturer, but a nightmare outside class. If you request a deferred exam as I had to due to surgery he makes it very difficult. The deferred exam is the last day of the exam period (in Dec) so I had to cancel my flight home and he took the class materials off the website which defeats the purpose of needing more time to study! Very unreasonable
Possibly the best professor I've ever had. The lectures are always crystal clear. If there's anything I'm not sure of, he's always available and willing to help. His grading is very fair and reasonable. Had him for 3 courses now and received an A or A+ for each. I'm so glad he's there -- he has really helped to keep me on track in this degree.
He is a good prof and teaches well. His moodle is interacive; when you put a question he ususally answers quickly. Make sure you write the midterms and try to get good marks from midterms because the final exam is like a surprise. Get some past tests which help you to become prepared what would be on the test.
professor Merv is certainly a GEM!, he is absolutely caring and very inspiring when he lectures, this course will forever make me think "skeptical"! his tests might be a bit hard, but if you do the work and attend lectures, you will do fine! I would totally take it again and again!
Best prof. Best prof. Best Prof. No seriously hes amazing
Also had him in 2049 & 2050. He clearly applies his work to the course in grading students. Great flexibility on how would you like to perform in his class. Gives you chance to get the highest mark you can get . If you do well in the final(with all labs attended) he will give you a boost.
Amazing! One of the best professors at York! If you attend class, or at least listen to it online you can definitely do well. He is very clear when he lectures and is absolutely willing to answer any questions you may have. Merv is just an amazing person ! You'll be lucky to be in his class!
Merv's great. He truly cares about his students and them succeeding. He's an engaging lecturer that gets to the point and describes everything clearly with a sense of humour. Final exams in both classes are a little more applied and difficult.
Great teacher who really cares.
great energy
I hate this class and the labs are not explained during class, the lab tutorial leader of mine does not even help she's so rude. He should explain the labs in class instead about talking on how bad the FDA and drug companies are.
merv is great and is the only lecturer/prof who I thought did more than just read off the textbook. you wont fall asleep in lecture. as hes up and engaging probabaly due to the fact of his infamous morning workouts. great prof would def take again. let me transfer my questions over on the exam when time was out. if he wasnt nice i would of got a 0
Prof's great at making the course enjoyable with such "dry, stale" material to learn. His tests are derived from a style you either get or you don't - "Hit or miss." I personally found his tests fair, others didn't. Overall, decent professor. Although he is an above average lecturer, the trade-off is his testing style, as mentioned, subjective.
Great Prof. He is very engaging and cares about his students. Go to lectures and read the textbook - you'll do fine. BE SKEPTICAL #GOALOFCOURSE - some things you learn will be new some may be repeated from other courses and you'll finally understand some of it ... take a course with him, he is a real gem :D xD
Great prof. Literally, go to class. Also, final exam was SO HARD. So, study for it. He's super funny, super engaging, and reasonable with his testing. Overall, study for the course and do all the labs for a better mark.
jesus christ never studied SO much for a course in my entire life to end up with C+. I legit read every single page of the 251-page book , did all of the 10 labs, the 3% bonus mark, attended every lecture! but that final exam was messed up. Great professor though, just wish he could make the final manageable life is too short.
Overall, he is a good prof. I went during his office... he really cares about his students and he is very understanding. Midterms are fair but final exam was DIFFICULT because it was a bit more applied compared to the midterms. Make sure to study the labs thoroughly and attend ALL lectures. He is very funny and makes the lecture very interesting!
solid professor, solid midterms, but the final exam was honestly hard like I don't know if anything could prepare you for that. Good luck
solid professor, solid midterms, but the final exam was honestly hard like I don't know if anything could prepare you for that. All I can say is good luck
Amazing prof. His lectures are always interesting even though the material is dry. He genuinely cares and gives many opportunities to do well. As long as you attend lectures and read the book you'll do fine.
Merv was the greatest prof I had at York. I graduated a while ago but still remember Merv's life lessons and engaging lecture style. By reading this you might think I did well in his classes. I did NOT! My university transcript has 3 C+'s on it, every one of them from Merv's classes. I'm a hard worker but just couldn't "get" his exams, which sucked
Midterms are very easy, but exam is brutal.
One of the best professors in the department. Super patient and helpful. The only thing I feel he should do is make the labs in his 3 classes I took with him have more weight in our mark. You should keep up with readings as they pile on quick and definitely do the tests and not skip them if you can. The finals he gives tend to be far harder.
Both midterms were super easy, (questions came straight from lecture, some from textbook that he doesn't talk about in class). The exam, however, was super difficult and nothing like the midterms, made my mark drop a lot. Labs are easy marks!
Honestly, Merv is a great prof. Clearly breaks down concepts and makes everything clear. However, there are 2 midterms and a final exam. The two midterms come straight out of the lectures and the book. But the final exam is absolutely brutal. Nothing can prepare you for that. I did well on both midterms, but the final tanked my mark by over 15%.
This is a university level course and obviously, you wouldn't expect everyone to finish with A and A+. You shouldn't even depend on a grade adjustment in any course to begin with because profs don't even need to do that in the first place, so he's doing you a favor. Just like any other university course, if you work hard enough, you should be fine.
Everyone scared me about the final exam of this course but honestly, it isn't bad at all. He gives you 3 hours to finish the exam and if you know everything in the course and ignore what people in upper years tell you, you'll do well. Try to understand everything he says and understand the book concepts too. Focus more on the lectures tho.
completely agree with the post below. don't let people scare you about the exam, it is not half as bad as they make it out to be. study and you'll do well.
Merv is one of the best. Hilarious, but real. Tests cover lectures, labs, AND readings, so be sure not to skimp on any, and you'll be golden. Lectures are interesting, and test content and difficulty fair. Some tricky questions, but no trick questions. If you can, take the all-test-and-labs option. Grade boosters.
He is great prof. Pay attention to the labs and lecture notes and u will get an A
Merv is an excellent prof. Your mark primarily comes from the final exam which can range anywhere from 50%-100% depending on whether or not you do the labs and midterms. The final is very different compared to the midterm, but as long as you study everything your should be fine.
Merv is current in his research, he makes attending lecture fun. Clear and concise in his teaching style. The course skilled performance is taught by two professors and Merv teaches the second part.
Good. Really good lecturer! Dont skip on the labs, theyre free marks. Go to classes and sit near the front. Youll do fine
Very inspirational, he explains everything very clear and he makes sure that the way he talks or uses words is easy for anyone to understand. If you pay attention in class not only youll get an A but learn even more life lessons
Will not only teach you the material but some valuable life lessons
Lectures are recorded and posted online and he combined the lecture notes and text book into one so its less expensive for students. loved his class
gooood
The course is somewhat boring, but he makes it interesting. Definitely go to lecture or listen to the recordings since some things he mentions are not in the textbook, and will be on the tests. Otherwise, everything is straightforward. Tests are average, and the labs are easy mark boosters.
BEST PROF IN KINE! Very straight forward with his teaching style, and he makes lectures fun. Don't skip any labs and make sure you attend all his midterms. He will bell curve for diligent students.
The exam was not fair. It basically consisted of anatomy and different formulas and graphs discussed during the labs plus a few of his favourite topics out of the whole entire textbook. This course is a waste of money and time and I feel bad for the students who need to take this course next year!
He Is the worst prof I have ever came across, he is not knowledgeable but he talk like he knows everything. The material in the exam are completely different from what he teaches in the class and he NEVER CURVES ANY MARKS. Labs are tedious and the TAs are not professional at their jobs. The most bs course I have ever took.
So far, he's the best lecturer I've had at York. He explains everything so well and makes everything easy to understand. But not only are his lectures amazing but his life lessons are very valuable. I can genuinley say that my perspective in life has changed in so many positive ways and I'm sothankful to have had the oppurtunity to be in his class
He is genuinely an amazing professor!! Yes, there is material on the test from the readings so do not just depend on lectures to do well. He makes lectures interesting and gives good advice. He is also very caring and helpful outside of class.
Definitely do all the labs and test options. I missed a few labs and skipped the first midterm. I got a bit stressed because everyone on here claimed his exam was brutal. It was the exact same difficulty as the midterms.I studied for it and got an A, so I have no idea why they claim it's so hard. He's a great prof, and the course is not difficult.
Definitely a great prof, he tries his best to make the lectures entertaining and educational. This prof is definitely one of a kind
Honestly one of my favourite profs. He is very good at explaining the material and he keeps the class engaging compared to many of the other profs I've had. Everything was easy except his final exam which was pretty hard but if you study enough you should do fine
He is a great prof, some of the other Kin Profs that could definitely take notes from him. He is engaging in lectures even with boring things & gives great explanations. Also, receive marks outside of tests which is amazing. If you study, you will do well, he isn't unreasonable. He gave sufficient time for our tests as well. Love him
Prof. Mosher is the best prof ever. Period.
Best prof at York. Gives amazing analogies for students to properly understand, answers questions within a good amount of time, always cares about getting marks back to students in time and is enthusiastic about the material he is teaching. As long as you enjoy learning you will do very well. Tests are fair, just do the term work.
Merv knows how to make some of the most boring topics very interesting. I've had him as a prof during 2nd and 3rd year and would definitely take another one of his classes if he teaches any for 4th year. It's literally impossible to get a bad grade in this class (unless you don't do any of the labs or tests lol).
I took this course during it's first pandemic run. I expected it to be boring but it ended up being my fave because of the care Prof. Mosher had for his students. Despite having pre-recorded lectures, he would post weekly videos with reminders to stay healthy and happy. His tests are very fair - no trick questions. The labs are easy marks.
I love mosher, he's an amazing prof that really cares about his students. However, he made the final exam completely unrelated to things we learned in class, filled with anatomy questions, useless facts you just had to know, lab questions. Ended up dropping my grade. Do ALL labs, assignments etc so when the final comes you can still get the A.
So nice, caring and very fair. One of the best profs at york hands down. Tries to help you because he really cares and wants his students to understand this course and do good in it. Made online way more interactive and fun.
Great prof. Really skilled at teaching. Lectures are amazing. Feels like he cares about students. Lots of reading. Pulls questions from readings.
most kine students will have realized by now that Merv is the best professor in this faculty and at york. he teaches with such passion which actually wants you to learn. his midterms are doable but exams are usually way harder. but he is such a genuine professor who is always there for his students.
one of the easier kine courses, merv is a great, keep up with the readings, do all your labs (easy marks, grade booster), tests are fair, the final was a little tougher but study hard, you will do fine,
He's the best. Wants students to succeed. Final was a bit hard but I think it's because it was online. Talked to a few students from past years and they said it wasn't this way.
"Research Methods of Kinesiology" sounded like the biggest snoozefest but I had no choice as it was mandatory. This is my favourite class I have ever taken, I love the way he teaches I understand everything. He genuinely cares and wants to see students pass. He is very nice and I loved his "Mosher Morning Muse" it made my day
Amazing teacher, takes his time and is easy to understand. He is great at explaining and wants his students to do well.
Merv has been, by far, my favourite professor at York. You can tell he cares about his students and really wants them to do well by how thoroughly he goes through his lectures and how often he emphasizes the importance of practicing the material. He really knows what he's doing.
Caring, Inspirational, Respected are three terms id describe this amazing professor. After this year ends, ive became inspired to become a professor like him. He genuinely cares for students, make lectures interesting and fun, and his tests are very fair. I cannot wait to take 3020 w him. Lectures are easy, Labs are easy, everything is simple :)
Dr. Mosher is one of the best professors you can encounter at York. He gives great examples in class and works hard to be as simple, clear and concise as possible. 2049 covers a lot of material so you need to read the textbook and watch ALL his videos, DO THE LABS they're free marks. Easily the best prof I've had.
I took both KINE 2011 and 3020 and ended up with B+. He is an amazing lecturer, and is very funny. Go to his classes and listen closely to his life lessons because they could be life changer. I was excited for 3020 course in my third year because MOSHER was teaching it. I appreciate that he asked undergrad students to be his assistants in summer
I rated him last year from 2049, and he has not changed. Great prof, lectures are available early with great examples, he talks slow and precisely, always available outside of class. Literally the consummate professor, he listens to student feedback, he accommodates for extraneous circumstance, guides you, and best of all, he really cares. 10/10.
Do not recommend taking 3020 it if he is doing the Mastery type assessment, it is EXTREMELY time consuming. However he is a great professor and has a really great way with words which allows students to understand the material well.
The best professor of all the time in York university.
He's the best Prof ever. He's great with words and knows how to explain concepts in a clear and proper manner. He's very wise man. If you take any of his classes, he'll definitely change or improve your perspective into a better one. I would recommend to take his classes
I'm 95% sure that Dr. Mosher is just God doing side quests. He's kind, caring, funny, hands-on, responds to criticism, is intellectual, provides excellent examples, and defines hard concepts perfectly. If there's a better professor out there, I would bet my house that Merv Mosher taught them everything they know. GOATED PROF 101/10.
Terrible, terrible, terrible. That's all I have to say. My experience was the worse. The grading of the course was very unreasonable.
Oh my god He is the teacher every student needs , very knowledgeable on the feild and makes the lectures interesting to attend. He used mastery which forces you to be on top of your material and get a decent grades. I can confidently say that i have a good knowledge of his courses than any other course i took at yorku . best prof i had so far
