Excellent teacher! She knows quite well how to teach.
Nice prof, tries her best, wants to help the students out. She has a rather funky accent, and she usually anonces assignments 1 week b4 they need to be done....but otherwise no complaints
she teaches really well.. knows her stuff but at 8.45 in the morning her accent is a bit hard to deal with.. she sounds like rosie perez
By far the best and nicest accounting teacher ever - I took this course in CEGEP and failed - if you have to take Financial Accounting, I strongly recommend you take it with her. She knows her stuff and always tries her best to help students.
She's a great teacher, very helpful. Explains in a way that makes everything seem very easy. I've had her twice and no complaints. You get used to her accent after 2 classes.

all I know is that she has bad attitude and no patience. Her accent is bad, it's irretating!!
She gets down to the core material & teaches it very well using overhead slides. And for the last 1/4 of the class, she does 2 or 3 assigned problems in class with you. If you took this course in CEGEP you should not have a problem with her.
she knows what she's doing, but her accent is HORRIBLE!!! her handwritting is even WORSE!!! never seen a teacher, especially a woman with such BAD and UNCLEAR handwritting. she's also very boring and just about the entire class tunes out while she teaches

very good teacher..she really knows what she's teaching, and she is very organized...her accent is kind of weird, but it is understandable..the important thing is that she knows how to teach..great teacher..
very good teacher. she wants everyone to do well and does loads of problems in class with you. take good notes and dont talk in class - shes gets ****y. easy B-
ur gonna hear the letter z ten million times in her accent, pretty much sums up her class... zzzzzzzzzz shes knows what shes talking about , but teaching is completely another story... she cant teach for****...asks a question no one knows the answers, she answers her own questions and moves on ...
She was a great teacher, she knew her stuff and explained everything. Hard material so you HAVE to do your homework every week or you'll be lost. Midterm and final are hard. Go to class and do your work and you'll get a decent mark.
She is a good teacher. She knew her material and she was well organized. It's a tough course, so you can't depend only on her, you will have to do homework. She is a fair grader.
I love her!!!!! She is like a grade school teacher and just as sweet! She desparately wants you to do well in her classes and teaches like a pro! She has a bit of a French accent but you get past it pretty fast. She is a sweetheart!
She's a helpful teacher.
Very nice and smart. Slight accent but you get used to it. Prepares class well for exams and goes over material well.
didnt like her. her accent sucked.. she sucked.. its a hard course.. AND shez a hard marker.. avoid her if possible..
she is mean!! gets mad if u talk or even just ask a question. she doesn't even grade ur exams and then doesnt give u the marks u deserve. don't take care
She is an hypocrite,a very bad marker and gets mad very often in the class if you have doubt. She will pretends to be good till the teacher evaluation and after that she will not even answer your emails. Watch out, don;t take her course.
I am very dissapointed with this teacher. She cannot teach at all. But, I did my exam very well, but got a very bad grade. I sent her more than 4 emails to check my paper, she never replied. She doesn't care. So don;t take her class
She is one of those who cannot speak english properly, says something without even knowing the meaninng and very bad teaching and not friendly at all, in my class no one liked her
this teacher speakes some same language in class, very hard to understand. Not helpful and she often gets irritated if we ask questions. Avoid her class.
Aside from the fact that her accent is very strong and she's difficult to understand, she grades poorly, makes mistakes adding up the marks then refuses to revise!! Plus, can't answer questions put to her. She answers, but, the answer has nothing to do with the question. VERY VERY BAD!!! C'mon Concordia! You can do better than this!
She needs to improve her english and her marking is really unfair. Shes not too fond of partial marks... You can do better.
She has a very funny accent which is very hard to understand and marks very incorrectly, makes total mistakes. She also gets very annoyed when we ask questions in the class as well during her office hours. The class average is also very low, so my advice don't take her class. Avoid her at any cost
she speaks martian in the class which no one can understand. very bad teacher and very mean with marking. Very impatient and doesn't explain the stuff well. Class average was only 40 so don't take her class.
She does not explain well, sometimes what she says in the class is completly opposed to what is given in the text. So.. unless you are get at studying on your own, don't take her class. If you can try to register for Joe Oliviero's section. He is very good and the mid term average is also quite high. Try to avoid Saleh's section.
I personally thought that she was an OK teacher. She reads slides but has good intentions. Her hand outs are pretty helpful - but I strongly suggest you get help from your friends w/ their notes. I think she's a decent grader - gives partial marks and really good at telling you what is on the exam.
The most worst teacher, Avoid her
She's ok and fair! Make sure to redo the extra questions that she gives u, it's gonna help in the exams.
She is not bad at all. If you pay attention to what she is explaining, you will understand. She takes a lot of time to explain theories, and does not do a lot of problems in the class. If you do not like this style, you better find another professor.
All I liked about this teacher is her smile and that she tells you what you can expect in the exam. I recommend you to go to tuturials if you u want good grades. She has language problems, and is hard to understand, but you will get used to it by the end of semester, so for revision, you will hopefully understand what she wants to say.
She is an amazing teacher. Very well organized, good note, good examples. Just make sure you follow and do all the exercices and you will pass without any problem. And dont ask stoopide questions cause she just hates it! Try to think on your own! She covers 95% in class what will be on the exam!
I didn't think she was that bad. It's easy to get a B but it's not impossible to get an A, you just gotta work harder. I recommend you to go to tutorial as often as possible, it real helps! Do the suggested problems and don't wait last minute!! She is nice when you pay attention and respect her. She can get really moody once a while but overall, sh
Prepares you very well for midterm and final. Tells you exactly what will be on the exam. Overall an excellent teacher. Her accent I can handle, however her handwriting is some of the worst I have ever seen. Take her if you want a good teacher!!!
She's a good teacher. It's true that she has an accent, but it's an accounting course. if you pay attention in class and do the assigned problems and past exams you'll be more than ready for the midterms and finals. She also tells you what will be included in the exams and how much they'll be worth throughout the semester. So go to class.
Taxation in general is a hard topic. She is the coordinator, so the examples that she covers in class are very similar to the problems you'll have to do in the midterm and the final. However, her accent and her poor grammar make it difficult to understand her completely. But the examples are very important to understand to pass the course.
I don't think she is a good teacher. She didn't interprete the important points, not organized, except for did problems only in her classes. By the way, I didn't understand what she was talking about. Her absent is too strong and strange.
I don't think she is a real teacher. The worse ever teacher.Financial Accounting is hard enough by itself, no need for a bad teacher like her to make it even harde. you should be out of your mind to take her.
She teaches fast, better to read the material before going to class. She has an accent but still comprehensible. She does a lot of exercies, which are very helpful.
She knows what is talking about, and she really wants to help her students. She prepares you well for the midterm and final and does exercises in class. Some teachers don't do any. She has an accent but you get use to it, she used slides but she explain well. You need to read the book because there isn't enough time in class to say everything and
Very hard accent. Examples done in class are helpful and ease comprehension. Not all content taught in class (impossible to do so). Primarily a self-taught course from the textbook. Do not rely on what is said about the material covered on the final (told us ch. 6 wouldn't be covered when there were 4 m.c.'s on it).
Her sections had the highest grades for the midterm and final, so that says something about her teaching. She does a lot of examples in class, as well as reviews for the midterm and final. Take her, but be prepared to work hard outside of class as well.
if you're willing to make little effort outside class, you will do well with her. she gives away a LOT of details about the exams and their structure. she's a bit lazy with explaining concepts (you need to read on your own sometimes) but otherwise her class average usually higher than other sections.
good prof. though very heavy accent, so it might be a bit difficult for some people to follow. very thorough. i liked her. follow her instructions to the letter on how to prepare and you so totally can get an A
The course is very hard and she did not make it any easier especially with her foreign accent.
easiest and best tax teacher out there, class had highest class average, her problems are amazing and good exam prep
She is the best ever teacher in TAX!!
worst teacher ever. She's the reason i changed my major. She made me hate accountancy. You can't understand anything she says. And she doesn't show up on the first day, so that you don't decide to switch section, because you would be late compared to the others. On top of that she's very annoying, she keeps saying:And I said OK! before any sentence
Very helpful! She teaches you how to solve exam questions and takes the time to make handouts for the class...her section had the highest grade for the midterm. She does have an accent but is comprehensible. I suggest her for 305
She is such a sweet teacher. People who make fun of her accent are just the mad little kids who sit in back of the class and talk all day or better yet dont show up in her class. She rewards hard work. Loved her.
Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!... accent is harsh; cant hardly understand even if you are sitting in front of the class.
She is an amazing teacher. She takes the time for any student that doesn't understand. She give extremely useful handout. There is so much thing to learn in Tax that her handout are just too good. It's true that her accent is hard to understand at first, but you soon get use to it! She's not a hard marker, a very good thing for tax!
She is not a bad choice for Acco 310. She goes out of her way to help students. Her accent is not that bad, you get used to it. The course is tough in itself so make sure to do a lot of problems.
GREAT teacher for tax. tells you what you need to know, solves manyyyy problems. I refuse to take acco 440 without her
She is a very good teacher, she care about her students, she tells you what counts in the exams and stresses on what is important and how not to lose marks.I recommend her very strongly.
Forget about her accent, she is a great teacher, she prepars you well for exams. She really cares about students performance and brings a lot of past exams to practice after each session.I wish she is available so I can take my future courses with her.she made me love taxes.strongly recommended!
She is good in teaching, but she will not admit any mistakes she made in the notes and exams. ACCO310 is hard, so make sure to do more problems.
Good teacher, her explanations as well as her notes are clear and make the course easier to understand. But you still have to put a lot of work in this course. She can have her hard days and be unkind but I'll still recommend her
Her notes and explanations are great, gives you great exam tips. Material isn't too hard if you do all the problems (in book and in class). Only negative is she won't admit/clear up mistakes she's made but it was nothing that you couldn't figure out after a quick google search.
great teacher but very hard class be prepared to do all the work and the problems if u dont keep up u wont get ur b-
She explains very well. Class is hard but attending the lecture is really helpful and important. She explains the theory in an easier manner than the book.
shes amazing, never take acco340 without without her cuz it will look like rocket science.. she makes tax look like tom and jerry.. you have to attend to understand though.. its much better than reading the book.
More than amazing teacher! Couldn't ask for a better teacher for tax
I'd catch a grenade for her, never had a better teacher than her. Concordia please keep her
Mervat is a great teacher. You need to attend class to fill out the notes she posts online. They are very useful, but you still need to read the book. She made me feel like her students were her priority and she really wanted us to do well. Very helpful during office hours as well. Take her!
She's an amazing teacher for tax. She loves her students and always wants her students to succeed. Her notes are amazing, and all of the questions she did in class are extremely useful! The BEST teacher for tax 1!!!
Best teach for ACCO 340. Loved her. She tells you exactly what to study for the exam, and what you don't need to know. By far the best teacher I've had at Concordia.
One of the best profs I have had in my university career. She gives you notes and DOES PROBLEMS that are very similar to the mitderm/final. Wish she taught every ACCO. Highly recommend her, especially because tax is a useful topic to learn. Very helpful for office hours
This teacher is not bad but she does not respect the laws and policies. Had a situation where the chair agreed with student but she still refused finally had to get ombudsman involved and switch student section teacher still tried to interrupt student learning. Avoid if you can there is better
Teacher notes are not filled out because she did not get permission from published and she does not update them. Accent is harsh, does not answers questions, does not have a proper command of English means to say one thing but says another expects us to guess what she meant. Also expect u to memorize everything I had to attended another lecture
The best teacher you can ask for in undergrad.
Not recommended at all. Not a good teacher.
Best Acco 340 teacher at JMSB. She knows EVERYTHING about tax and is very approachable. She won't make you feel dumb when asking questions, rather she encourages questions and class discussions. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Very good teacher!! In the summer it goes very fast though so you cannot miss one class and she goes very fast while staying clear and efficient. Don`t be scared to ask questions in class or by email because since it goes fast you might misinterpret some details and the book is not very clear on a lot of things. Loved the class!
The best tax teacher in jmsb!! Do not take 340 without her. She makes tax interesting and easy to understand and cares a lot about her students. thus my favorite teacher so far :)
Great prof! Very passionate about teaching and tax, wants to make sure students understand. Good at explaining concepts but goes very quickly. make sure to attend class and do problems at home.
Mervat is a great prof and is really passionate about tax. You can tell that she puts her students before herself. She explains really well, provides hints about what to focus on for the midterm and final exam. I wouldn't have gotten an A in tax if it weren't for Mrs Saleh!
Nice lady, but she zips through the material, and has a thick accent. Bring your good ear, its easy to miss important info.
Really good teacher, her notes are amazing. She truly wants students to do good and she makes it clear that you MUST put the effort. Highly recommend Mervat!
One of the best teacher I've ever had. I recommend it to everyone. I had her for acco 340 and 650 and would take her again if she would teach another course that I have to take
She is AMAZINg
amazing, her teaching is so helpful for your midterm and final, and you will learn a lot from her if you go to the class and get used to her accents lol.
She is an amazing teacher, very clear, teaches you exactly what you need to know to do well on the quizzesexams. You can tell she put a lot of time into preparing the handouts. She's very helpful in class and one and one and it shows that she really cares about her students!51
amazing teacher for acco 340 if you get the chance take her! her midterms and finals are exactly the same as the problems in class. do the textbook problems, review problems and go to her lectures for the notes you will pass no doubt!!! She knows wha shes talking about!!!
I got an A- in this class and it is all thanks to her. She is the best professor I had so far at Jmsb. She solves really good problems in class that reflect the midterm and final exam. She knows her stuff inside out and she gives lot of hints on what to study for the exams. She is a very fair grader and is very helpful. The best for acco340.
In my opinion, if you don't have Mervat for Acco 340 then switch!!! She is absolutely amazing. Must attend lectures and be ready to write down notes VERY quickly because she speaks fast... she is very straight forward and doesn't want to trick her students.
Very hard class but she knows how to teach it.
If your not taking her for 340, then Im not sure what your doing. Really amazing teacher with great notes
Professor Saleh is an excellent professor. The Acco 340 wasn't easy and there is a lot of homework and reading. She covered all materials, did problems in class and answered all questions. She is extremely approachable and helpful. Professor Saleh is enthusiastic about the teaching material and keeps the class engaged.
Simply amazing teacher! She knows how to make you grasp the material. Definitely take her! You won't regret it!
One of the best teachers in JMSB! Gives you personalized notes which are very helpful. Since she is the coordinator of this course, she will give you a bigger incite about the midterm and final. Very knowledgeable ! ATTENDING CLASS IS A MUST! She has a little accent and tends to speak fast, so pay attention!
This teacher is the best for Acco 340. She has taught this course many times and knows how to get students to understand the material. Definitely attend class and redo the in-class problems on your own after. You will not regret taking her!
If you aren't taking Mervat for ACCO340 then your making a bad decision! Her lectures are great and she knows her stuff very well. Her notes cover almost all the content. A hard course, but with that being said, expect to pay attention and listen in class! She is also strict on cellphone use, but trust me she's just looking out for you by doing so.
Mervat is a great teacher although this is a very hard class and therefore you definitely have to put in a solid effort. There is a lot to keep up with so you have to stay on top of things. Her lectures are amazing and she prepares you for the exams which are extremely fair. She always goes over every concept with examples which also helped a lot!
She is a nice teacher, but she has a little accent so pay attention.
Definitely the best ACCO 340 teacher. Its a tough class but I loved her so much I'd take it again just to have her as a teacher. If you do her in class problems and understand them you should do well on the midterm and final.
BEST professor ever! Her lecture is amazing. Even though she has accent, it not affect the high quality of the lectures. If you take her, you will be fine. Otherwise, i'm not sure because the book doesn't help.
Make sure to read the chapters before coming to her classes. Best taxation teacher you will ever find. Her class is not easy but it is rewarding and interesting
Most valuable teacher. She provides her own notes, corrects exams very fast, avoids nonsense and gives real-life practical examples. Every word she speaks is holy, make sure to write everything down. Listen carefully because she speaks fast. Attend every class and do all the problems and you will be more than fine.
She is AMAZING. Seriously, she really cares that you do well in her course and gives out notes that you fill out (so that you pay attention) and even forces students to put down their pencils when she does examples so you have full attention of what's happening (she gives you time to write down after). I wish I had her for all my acco classes.
Took acco 340 for a second time after a crappy semester and grade with a different prof. Upon taking the class with Mervat, I felt like I learnt a completely new course. I understood the material so much better through her worksheets and teaching methods. It honestly helped my confidence. With that said, I emphasize going to every class!!
Not a hard but very heavy class
She is the best prof for taxation. She prepares some problems and do it with us every week. The course is hard. You need to read textbook and practice lot of problems.
Awful experience which I don't have often.
She's the best teacher I've had a JMSB. Gives her own set of notes, runs through problems that are extremely representational of the exams and always willing to give out advice.
Explaining accounting courses by sitting down is simply not effective. Her accent doesnt support this type of teaching style as people didnt understand her which made them miss out on notes. Not the most approachable when it comes time to ask questions. There's not enough time to do the 2 page quizzes in 15 min.
She is an amazing teacher. Don't miss her class as she explains well. Read and do exercises that she tells and you 'll be good! it's not an easy course and you have to work hard to get a good mark, but I find she is a best teacher for ACCO340!
Mervat is one of the best teachers I had in university. She knows her material really well and explains it very clearly. If you follow her in class, you will know already 90% of the material without opening the book. Some people say she is harsh, but she is just very direct as a person and she truly cares about her students!
Amazing teacher, amazing notes! She's very clear and wants students to truly understand the material, not just memorize it. Gives great advice for writing cases too! Definitely take her if you can. Her notebook/textbook is really worth it, she has summarized all of the key topics in an easy to study/remember format!
she is just terrible! if she is your only option do not take her. the average of the class was just horrific. Please do yourself a favor and dont take this class with this teacher. take any other professor over her.
Class average was absolutely horrible. She does not care for her students unless you already understand the class.
Mervat is the best teacher I have ever had at JMSB and in the CPA program. She wrote the best textbook I've ever read that helped so much for understanding financial reporting. She prepared us so well and taught us the exact steps to write cases. She gives a lot of practice that helps and she's so knowledgeable and kind. I loved her and recommend!
A real legend
The course does not adequately prepare students for the CFE. She spends a lot of class time promoting her book and her teaching abilities, even over CPA National resources, which I find far more valuable. I wish she could focus on teaching rather than using class time for what feels like a marketing campaign.
