She is a v. discouraging teacher. If she is in a bad mood, she'll insult the 1st student who approaches her in front of the whole class. You are asked to print out stickers and impromptu cards (4 ur final grade) which she can use in her other classes!!

I would not recommend this teacher to anyone. Her personal values and politics are forced upon the students. She made student serve trays of drinks and clean-up, at her home (dinner-party) for extra credits. Are the board members aware of this??

I hate this lady. I had the fall semester with her and she said that I could turn in the final assignment during the holiday break. I did and guess what, she said that I turned it in too late. ****

Annoying, opinionated, and tries to make everyone go listen to her propaganda outside of class for "lab options". The "take home final" gave me several hours worth of work to do the weekend before finals, THANKS A LOT! On a sidenote, no one as obese as she is should be giving nutritional info.

I took this class about a year ago and it was the worst experience of my life. I was an honors straight A student at City College until I took her class. She's very bias, very unclear and very unavailabe.

The most terrible teacher I've ever had! I'm a straight A foreign student and are very good at performance, but she's so mean and biased that I hate this class so much. She has many bad qualities, which I cannot list all here. She should be fired. It's UNFAIR to us students.

There's no good in Ms. Shelton. She is biased and humiliates students. I didn't like to ask questions because she makes students feel stupid. I got an A- through the whole semester, but at the end she gave me a B. She doesn't explain her reasoning and makes it hard to get an A. She favors athletes, so if you are one, you'll get an easy A.

After taking taking many classes and coming across a multitude of teachers, I find Mrs. Shelton one of the worst, she seems ****, bad tempered when questioned, vindictive, and straight out unfair. I am amazed she hasn't been investigated and reprimanded. If you are planning to take her for any class, I suggest you look for alternatives.

She is unfair and unclear in her grading policy and openly biased.Her grading is based on whether she likes you or not. If English is your second language you are doomed. By far the worst professor I have ever had. She's very lazy and doesn't really teach you anything, and she's ALWAYS very unclear about what she assigns. Don't get on her bad side and always come prepared or she'll raise her voice at you like a child.

Don't do it! You cannot make it on merit alone in this class, don't try! FLASHER! Intentionally intimidates and humiliates students at random. It's hard to watch, but you're just glad it isn't you. SJECCD: find a way to deal with this woman already - if that many students are complaining then it is up to you to figure out what made them complain in the first place. students often times break their backs to pay their way here and in the end, your salaries. this is why tenure sucks, because such exploitation then becomes "perfectly legal." This is probably the worst teacher I've ever had. She gives assignments but doesnt explain them. Then gets upset when you ask her questions about them. Never gives students the opportunity to actually discuss a topic, just goes on and on about how much she knows about argumentation. If your GPA is important to you don't take her. This teacher is disorganized. I have no idea what is expected of me. I consider myself to be a good student, but I find myself crying not knowing what is due or how to do it. We had an outline that was due and 28 out of 30 students did it wrong! That should tell the teacher something!! I wish I could drop this class :(

This professor was rude, disorganized, biased, and inconsiderate. She picked on anyone who wasn't a football player, and borderlines on harassment. In one case she actually responded to a student "are you so stupid..". In another case she called me out and made fun of me in front of the class for being 3 minutes late. It is unfortunate I did not look her up before I took the class. Pretty much impossible to get an A. You'll get favored if you're a girl, of color, or play football. Insulted a forign student for not pronouncing island correctly and told the class to constantly correct him. Rambles on biasly about garbage. Class has little to do with communication.

Intersession. All the warning comments are true. She is tough on every race and gender but easy on jocks. she belittles students and her homework outline is hard to follow. if you can avoid i suggest you do unless you are a jock.

She is Nice. But the projects were unbelieveable and somehow she thinks that people can remember things by not even telling them. she rants on out of her ass about certain arguments that are boring an have not interest in the class. She has so many project assignements that makes dying to look forward when the class is over.

I took this professor the first semester at SJCC. She's the poster- child for why this website exists. I literally learned nothing from her. I've had some pretty bad teachers at SJCC, but she's the worst teacher there. She talks about herself the whole time. You'll learn nothing, and then get some subjective grade- and it won't be a good one.

Should have checked this site prior to taking her course. The outline was hard to follow, homework and projects were unclear, lab reports were never explained. If you ask for clarification, she will tell you you're an adult you can figure it out, "it is not my responsibility to explain to an ignorant person" and say you do not belong in college.

Professor Shelton is a very harsh grader and can be rude when giving critical feedback. Her treasure hunts are miserable. Even with extra credit, she will knock your grade down to a C if you get a location mixed up. She grades by her emotions. If she likes your personality, you might do ok, otherwise, good luck passing!
