She had a very nice personality. I like her but I dont like the way she teach and give exam. Not working for me.
I think she's an excellent profrssor. She will take the time to make sure you know the material. She allows students to contact her at all times. Plus, she is very nice and pleasent to be around, Her class is fun.
Good Professor, she is helpful, she is easy to get in contact with. Very helpful during labs. Test's are easy as long as you read the book you should be able to pass.
I don't like her teaching style. I can read slides too. big deal
Shes one of my favorite teachers, but she does has hard tests. Her looks are good and shes super nice and makes class fun to come to. There is alot of work to be done and study time. I passed but did study a decent amount. I recommend her shes a wonderful teacher and person.
One of the best instructors I have ever had. She is a true example of a "REAL TEACHER" and she understands the meaning of being a teacher...would recommend her over and over!!!
The class is tough but if you need the class you should want to work hard to make sure you know it. She is very helpful in class and at her office. Maybe in class sometimes answers too many ?'s in class.
My all-time favorite teacher! Enthusiastic about the subject and very knowledgable. Lectures and labs are interesting. Sometimes I wish we'd go through lecture a little bit faster since it always seems we're a bit behind, but this is due to her willingness to answer questions and explain things again. Tests are challenging but very fair. A+++!
Methea is a cool teacher. She loves what she teaches and has alot of knowledge on related subjects. She is willing to help you out. You can do one make up exam in this class which was cool. You have power points to take notes on so whats on the power point is on the test. If you have to take biology, I would take it from Mathea.
Run! One of the only teachers I have had who actively set up students to fail. I have never had a teacher who expect half of her class to fail. Test are based on your fine print reading skills, not your knowledge of the subject. I should have listened to past students and taken Blevins at the Falls instead. Good luck!
in order to maintain a good grade you'll need to read the book from beginning till the end, it looks like she likes to teach BIO but not Anatomy caz i liked her way better when i took Bio with her. I would recomend taking another teacher for A-P or there will be 50/50 change you'll fail =(
great teacher, brought a lot of positive energy.
Methea teaches well, with clarity, and is dedicated to her job and helping each one of her students with anything they need to learn and do well at SCC.
she is a nice person,,, but she teaches very fast and her tests are hard confuseing ....
Methea is a great teacher. She expects you to study and try hard. She is great about making sure you understand the concepts before moving on. Her test can be tricky, it helps to know the material very well. A lot of memorization, but worth it if you are going into any medical field. This is a weeding class. You're either good or lacking.
Methea is great at this class. You can tell it is her passion. She makes things very enjoyable and clear. Some memorization of sea life body functions and names involved. But well worth it if the ocean interests you. Great class!
Hard, but very fair. Sometimes seems like she doesn't always prepare for her bio 160 class, but she knows her stuff so well that she can wing it. Great instructor.
Good instructor. If you think A & P is "easy", then you're a moron..of caorse it's going to be hard--it's not like it's cosmetology! haha! Study & memorize everything, get good lab partners. If you can't pass this, I don't want you to be my Nurse anyway
She is a great teacher but you have to be willing to study. If you don't do well its your falt and you shouldn't move on. This is college people not high school.
Methea is a wonderful teacher. She is fair, and easy to work with. She is always prepared and ready for class. She knows her stuff which makes learning in her class easier. Even though she makes you work for your grade she is extremely fair. I Loved her bio class and plan on taking both of her A&P classes
Great professor, hate Biology so I will not hold that against her. tests I found where both hard but, thought provoking. If you work hard, you will succeed.
Very helpful and nice. tests were hard but she gave a lot of possibilities in lab to get points. the grading scale is a little bit different so it will be additionally harder to get a good grade but it's not impossible. I hate biology so maybe that was the reason
great teacher, hard class. her lecture tests r multiple choice. lab tests r written, you need to know the exact spelling of all the names of bones, tissue, muscles etc. her tests r very hard, lots of unexpected questions on the test. over all i enjoyed her class :)
She's a great teacher. She takes her job very seriously. People should be lucky to take her. One of the best professors I have ever had. I encourage anyone to take her.
She is a very nice instructor. The class has an incredible amount of information needed to be learned, in a short amount of time. Her tests are fair; however, there tend to be tricky questions, and some questions pertaining to information not covered in class. Overall, her class is really enjoyable.
She's very nice and smart. However, her class is extremely difficult. A lot of information to learn in a short amount of time.
She is very nice and sweet. She is always willing to help if you dont understand something. There is a lot to learn, but hey its biology. Just make sure to go over the entire list of objectives and go to class and the labs everyday.
Methea is a SUPERIOR instructor. Her verbal lecture is well-paced and understandable. She's very open about what she wants students to know for exams and quizzes. Her labs are fun, the field trips are great learning experiences, and lectures are held to 1 hour. Very fair teacher. Overall, a great learning experience. Highly recommend.
She's nice but her class was hard. I have her when she just start teaching and her class is dreadful.
She is a really nice lady and willing to help out. However her tests are insanely hard and the only form of extra credit is for the students who answered the insanely hard questions correct that everyone else in the class got wrong.
An excellent teacher. Yes, her classes are hard. She teaches core classes that are highly important for students to move on in their fields. I would expect that to be hard. Those that complain might want to reconsider their chosen future.
Extreamly hard teacher but I regret not taking her again. Her notes are clear, very readable and easy to uunderstand if you work hard and reveiw it. show up to all the labs cause she gives quized. If you do not give it your all you will fail If you try hard and ask questions you will do great.
Hard class...ooooh how hard. But she is sweet and understanding person. Can give a great advise.
Its not so much that this class is hard its just allot of info given at once. There is NO handholding in this class. When given something in lab, it is heres the info figure it out.I really recommend taking HED108 at scc will give you a good fooundation to build off of. Goto lecture!she will give some hw every point ull need!BIG time weedingout class
Methea is very nice-but her tests are killer hard, esp. lab tests.Lecture tests are tricky. But,ALL A&P classes are hard. I like her, but she was pretty busy w/her outside research which took away from some of our class time. Know the material inside out & backwards to get a decent grade. I lived & breathed this class & got a 3.4.
She is a great teacher, nice kind helpful. You need to be ready to apply all of your time. Lab and lecture tests can be tricky and they are hard. No extra credit here ,know your material.
Hard class, good teacher. Pay attention. Also puts recorded lectures online. This is very nice for when Life causes you to miss Lecture class.
Anatomy is a tough class
I dont understand what you guys expect, your taking a 200 level COLLEGE bio class, its the material not her. You have to work for your grade in any college class. She is an amazing, kind, and CARING teacher. One of the best I have ever had in my life honestly.. TAKE HER!!
Very nice and laid back professor. If I could I would take her for 242. The course is tough, hundreds of things to memorize, but she gave a good amount of e.c. on tests. I probably studied for 4 hours a day and I got a 4.0. It doesn't matter which professor you get though it's a tough course!
You must spend time studying, there is a TON to memorize. I thought overall the class was in any professors classroom going to be a tough one however it would have been helpful to have a bit more clarity on what within the hundreds of pages was actually going to be on tests...
She is not helpful to students needs. Does not seem to care about your learning styles or to help you out.
A lot of information to remember. Very hard class but if you put all your time and effort into it its not impossible. Study study study.
The work was a lot, you just have to give it all your time studying the material over and over again.
Excellent class. Super interesting. Took as a hybrid.. Would've liked in class lectures better. Hard to keep up on your work and listen to the lectures when you're supposed to. Way easy if you've taken bio before. Lots of review. Still really good if you've never taken bio
This is the worst class I've taken. Insane amount of work, she makes you memorize hundreds of sea creatures and their anatomy. Tests have to be taken in monitored testing center and some last 90mins with dozens of sea creatures she wants you to name. This is a nonsensical, really hard class that should be called Marine Biology. Don't take it!
Terrible! This teacher thinks her class is the only and best thing in the world. Too much reading and too much memorization (like 30 pictures of different seaweed with Latin names to ID) I wish I didn't pick the class- the amount of work is just ridiculous. She is unclear about what she'll test from, has us reading a book aside. C'mon! Nightmare.
It's anatomy and it's college. Expect to work and don't be lazy. You'll do fine.
Methea is nice but her lecture are very long and hard to understand. Lecture exams are the same way. She gives a lot of extra credit so that is helpful. Your grade is basically your exams and one or two assignments that are worth 10pts. Study and memorize what you need for the lab exams.
The lectures are extremely long, the tests are very hard, she does not grade on actual attendance, most of the grades come from tests. There are field trips involved. Would not take this class again with this professor.
Drop this class now if you care about your grades. The professor did not help with anything. The average grade was an F. Her tests asked questions that weren't even in the chapters, and her tests were recorded.
Fantastic instructor. Very helpful- always answers her e-mails in a timely fashion. Had a clear answer for every question I asked. You have to REALLY pay attention in the lectures and study, study, study! Tough tests but as long as you know the material you'll do great! Also has a great sense of humor and has a backup plan for every online mishap.
This is an AMAZING professor. Her class is very tough. However, if you listen to her lectures, and study there is no reason this class is not do-able. She is so passionate about what she does, it is a great expierence to learn from her. I highly recommend her, and i failed her class once, and continue to take her classes still.
The class is not that hard, but she is not a very good at effectively communicating to online students. They way she lays out all the material is sloppy an and you have to decipher exactly what she wants. The presentation videos have incorrect info on them, and instead of her correcting the info she just says its wrong and has kids yelling in them
Took the class online and I thought it was very organized. She was quick to respond if I had any questions. The recorded lectures are long but if you take notes and spend some time studying you'll do fine on the tests. I didn't use the textbook once, most of the test info just came from the lectures and videos that she posts.
She is a wonderful person but she gives an ungodly amount of work. Be prepared to memorize a ton of sea creatures in the Latin form. Although her exams are online, you must be filmed by a webcam with audio. Multiple choice is out of the question as her exams require you to fill in the blanks. Extremely difficult class, highly suggest not taking it
I was worried that taking a class with this instructor would ruin my GPA, but the class was great! Material is detailed, but if you listen to the lectures, take notes, and read the chapters you'll be prepared. Not an easy A, but the instructor is passionate conveys this in the class. Advice for success-listen to the lectures at least twice!
Best professor I have ever had. Lectures are clear and she gives extra credit questions on almost every test. She does not make you memorize the Latin names, only common names. She also gives you a the exact pictures that are on the test. In recorded lectures you can speed up the playback or slow it down as needed. Loved this class!
Your tests determine if you pass. You have to be organized and good at independent study. She praises students who get good test scores and does not offer help or positive criticism to those who dont do well. She should be more hands on and push people to work together as students who need the most help will fall through the cracks otherwise.
The one thing I didn't like about her class was that it was unclear what we were going to be tested on. I felt that mst of the test questions were random.
She's a very nice lady, but a professor, not so much. I took her online class and she gave you so much work, 5+ hours of lecture videos, and in them she was distracted, left to go do something; it was quite erratic and unprofessional. She gets back fast with emails though, if you see her in person she is better helpful, overall she does too much.
I hate this teacher! she just let us watch crash course video and take difficult test that are not even in the video. she doesn't teach! always skip class. Don't ever take her.
This is the worst science instructor Ive ever had at SCC. She seems nonchalant about her students and the class in general. Tests on information not clearly taught in class. Lets YouTube videos do the teaching for her. I wish I could WITHDRAW!
Does not teach. Cancel class every week. Pulls up test questions from the things she say not to focus on.
Methea is very laid back and is a nice person but I personally am not a fan of her teaching style. Shes so laid that she almost comes off like she doesnt care if you pass the class or not. MY ADVICE TO ANYONE WHO TAKES HER CLASS, MAKE SURE YOU LISTEN TO EVERYTHING IN HER LECTURES. She 100% tests you on things she doesnt list in her study guide.
Was nervous about these reviews; however, Professor Sapp is amazing! Finished the class with a 3.9 and requires a lot of work and studying as with ANY anatomy class. There are a few questions on exam not on objectives but usually fairly easy to use context clues to figure out. She is VERY fair and a great professor! Wish I could take for A&P 2.
This is a harder class to take. Theres normally at least 5 hours of videos to watch before a test. The tests are pretty hard and some of the material on the tests arent in the lectures. Professor Sapp doesnt really teach anything and shes distracted a lot in her videos. I was pretty disappointed with this class overall.
I got a 3.8 in this class and that was only because I had absolutely no social life, studied every minute of every day, and was so stressed I couldnt eat or sleep. Theres to much to say negatively about her teaching so to sum it up I would strongly recommend you take a different professor if you want to keep your sanity.
I learned A LOT in this class. Professor Sapp is a great teacher. However, if you're looking for that 'easy A' class, this isn't it. You'll have to work very hard but its worth it. She's tough but fair. The textbook is optional and I got an A just with the lecture materials. I recommend watching the lectures multiple times before a test.
Methea is an amazing teacher! She is approachable, smart, kind, generous and funny. I would take her class again just for fun I enjoyed it so much. She is an amazing lady. The best!
Lectures are hard to follow, distractions, pauses, noises, you can tell she is talking and lecturing but cant hear anything, it makes learning from them difficult. Exams are very trying, stressful. Takes a long time sometimes weeks to grade an assignment. She does give extra credit which is great.
She doesn't give out any homework to help your grade. She is HUGE on tests. Be prepared for lockdown browser. She doesn't teach out of the book. Her lectures are what she bases the tests off of. She is super nice though. If you keep in contact with her, she'll help you. I think it would be better to take an in-person class with her.
I hope she's a lot better in person then she is online. She doesn't give out homework to help you understand her lectures. She posts a couple lecture videos then 2 weeks later tests you and about 3 homework assignments that don't have anything to do with the lectures. Those are easy 50 point "Zooniverse" projects. Easiest 50 points ever.
Methea was AWESOME! A&P is a hard class. She was really organized and clear about what we would be graded on. There are 4 lab tests and 4 lecture tests in the entire quarter and super clear study guide lists. All lecture test Q's had reference to study guide. It is a lot of studying but that would be true of any A&P class and Methea is awesome!!!!
I really enjoyed her! The class was super easy and informative and she gave me extra credit on a lot of things. I'm taking her for a different course now that is harder but she makes it easy. Super nice and easy to talk to.
Professor Sapp is one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. She is incredibly smart and her lectures are really interesting so it's easy to stay engaged. She offers extra credit and always gets back to you right away. She does require respondus which I was nervous about but the exams are straightforward and as long as you study you'll do good.
Sapp is one of the smartest prof I have ever had but she is not great at teaching, she derails often and tries to force many different subjects and levels of Oceanography into one course. I feel like I should have a PhD in Oceanography after that class. She is so kind but does not realize how unreasonable her lecture load is. 20+ lecture hrs...
Unrealistic workload. In 2.5 years at SCC,only time a class has recorded me while I took the exams. Not willing to work with learning disabilities. If I knew how hard and unrealistic this class was, I would have NEVER taken it. The whole class is only exams and 3 Zooniverse so little opportunity to counter a bad exam grade. Don't do it to yourself
Professor Sapp gives cool info in her lectures and she seems like a caring person. However, there are no assignments in this class except two that don't help learn the information, all graded tasks are exams. She doesn't require a book but I highly recommend you get it. There is a lot of info for each exam and most questions are on small details.
just dont
A&P 241 is a very hard class but Prof. Sapp was very engaged and encouraging! She was very helpful whenever I had questions and her lectures give all the information you'll need to do well on exams. If you put in much time and effort into studying and knowing the material, you will do well.
Lack of specificity in what will be covered in the exams other than "chapter whatever". Only "professor" I've ever had at SCC that requires a monitored browser. Few assignments other than very specific-question exams. Does not feel like an introduction to oceanography at all! Way too many scientific terms. The book is long and very hard to follow.
Methea is a such a wonderful professor who seems to love and have a true passion for what she does. She has been one of the best professors I've had the pleasure of having and has greatly advanced my knowledge of A&P. Her extensive knowledge is evident in her lectures, A&P is a tough class and you must put in the work accordingly, highly recommend!
Professor Sapp is a really good teacher. The lectures are very long but they explain what you need to know and learn for the exam. This class is exam heavy. There are very few assignments outside of the exams. She is responsive to emails and will answer questions that may seem outside of what is covered in class. The exams require a lockdownbrowser
Terrible experience. No opportunities for re-taking quizzes. Quiz content is unexpected and abysmal. Must read entire long chapters instead of segments. Poor communication, little participation in class. All her lectures are from 10 years ago. Nothing but a busy work course. Next to no assignments besides quizzes and exams from textbook.
Methea is super passionate about her work. She's understanding and seems to care a lot, she really does. The exams though are overwhelming. We have to memorize hours of lectures and take down several pages of notes and somehow memorize every little detail on monitored browsers. It's very daunting the amount of information you must know! Yikes!!
Exams are your entire grade. no practice. Study guides are "Learning Objectives" for each chapter. The issue is, those learning objectives have so much information regarding them, that it is tough to know what exactly what to study. Lectures are recorded at least. Doesnt teach during lab hours. be expected to bring a laptop and google
Methea was a Godsend. I knew from a second source to take her out of all SCC AP professors. Human Anatomy is a HARD class. Test heavy! Get a whiteboard when it comes to spelling. Getting a 4.0 takes 30+ hours of studying per test. Memorize those lecture slides + objectives. If you want to be a nurse, it's going to take effort! You have to WANT it.
I took Methea for AP2 as well because she is so great! Her objectives help out with the lecture tests. She has the same format from AP1 to AP2. She is always there for you especially when you need help. This class takes A LOT of your time. Lab exams are stressful but this is normal, study study study! Start studying a week before each test!
I liked her class a lot it was very interesting. Mrs Sapp is very passionate in what she does. However the class is difficult and no notes are allowed on the tests. I recommend Quizlet!
I found this class very interesting. Mrs. Sapp is genuinely passionate about her works and classes. However she is a tough grader and the quizzes are difficult. I recommend getting a Quizlet account!
we have 4 lecture tests and 4 lab exams. make sure to start studying as soon as she posts the material unlike me and you'll do good. labs are memorization and arent too hard. Biggest tip take advantage of the tutors.
AP 1 was not THAT bad. Just study and give it some effort and you will pass easily. Methea actually cares about her students and offers extra credit if a lot of people get the same questions wrong on the tests.
Overall, I love this girl. She is so caring and respectful to all of her students, the only issue I had was the exams. The tests were very heavy, but if you are a good note taker and watch every lecture, you will get a good score on the exams. She is very fair between every student and she remembers you even if you take 1 and 2 years apart.
