If you want to work hard and feel good about doing so, choose Mia. This class is difficult and yet seems manageable and fun with Mia as your guide. She clearly cares about her students and teaching is her absolute passion. Take all advice given for study habits and attend every office hour, you'll do great!
She's an amazing woman who is passionate about guiding her students on a path to success, in the course and in their career. Class is very work intensive but Mia makes it fun and is willing to work one on one or in groups to make sure that you gain the best understanding of material. She has wonderful energy and makes it easy to come to class.
She's been the most caring and helpful professor I have had in my education life. She really takes time out of her own busy schedule to make sure you succeed. If there is any problem or issue going on she will make sure to help you through it. The lab is very independent, but Mia is always there to help. To help you succeed, go to office hours.
Such an amazing woman with the biggest heart. She cares so much about the success of her students and is so easy to talk to about ANYTHING. Shes such an inspiration and I aspire to be even half the amazing character she is. Workload is difficult for the class, but if you ever need help she is so very helpful with any questions, go to office hours!!
Mia is the best lab professor by far. I had a Friday 9AM lab but she always came into class super enthusiastic about teaching. There is no other professor that cares about students as much as she does. She makes sure to accommodate every student, doing office hours even when no other professor does. She's your best chance of getting an A in lab.
She is probably the best lab instructor you will ever have. She teaches you everything you need to know for the test and you just need to study and know the concepts. Shes very reasonable, so be sure to try your best in lab!
Mia Nobles! Great professor I had her for Friday, 9AM Lab. She totally made bio a lot more interesting than my lecture professor. She drilled the learning criteria in my head really well and her enthusiasm really wakes you up at 9AM and it makes you hyped on what youre learning about. Although, she grades very hard on difficult assignments.
Mia gave me life on Friday's because she has this energy that just exudes out of her and makes lab so much fun! She really makes sure that you know the content by heart and drills the info into your head. She was also super approachable and responds lightning quick to your emails! If you get her as a lab instructor, you are lucky!
AMAZING!!! Nobles is literally my favorite teacher. She is so informative and genuinely wants all her students to do well. She is very passionate about physio. She is also available outside of class and is willing to work around your schedule. TAKE HER CLASS
Shes a really great professor and very passionate about what shes teaching. It was hard to set up office hours with her because she was always so busy with something or she had odd office hours set. You definitely have to spend a good couple of days studying for exam, they are difficult if you dont understand the material fully.
Mia is an amazing professor. You have to understand the material as a whole to pass her tests. Be sure to study her fun facts. You have to study hard to earn your grade but overall an amazing class.
Mia is SO enthusiastic about what she teaches and she makes you want to learn the material! She has plenty of assignments but they all help you understand the material more. There's a short quiz everyday but she will only collect 8 throughout the semester. It may sound intimidating but she made learning fun and everything is to help you. No regrets
Best professor ever! She is so funny and passionate. If you go to every lecture, pay attention in class, and review your notes (!!), you will get an A. Her exams may be hard, but not tricky; she pulls questions straight from her lecture powerpoints and she tells you exactly where to read from the textbook.
Literally one of the best professors I have ever had. She is super kind and is passionate in what she teaches. She wants her students to succeed. The material is a lot, so just study the lecture notes and go to office hours! You will not regret taking Dr. Nobles.
Best prof I've ever had, if you have the chance, take her. She's funny and super passionate about what she does. I would have gotten a B if I tried harder, don't slack off on homework and study the questions at the end of her lectures and you're good to go for the exams. She offers extra credit but if you have a busy schedule, its not gonna happen.
Mia is the best teacher I have had at Cal State Long Beach. She really cares about her students and she always does her best to make sure you understand the material in a relevant way.
I LOVE MIA NOBLES DEAR GOD she is without a doubt the best professor I have ever had the privilege of learning from. From making cute songs and mnemonics to being super helpful during office hours she never failed to both inspire and brighten up my day. This class kicked my butt but she made it so enjoyable, please take her and you WON'T REGRET IT!
Honestly the best science professor I've had. She cares so much for her students, and her lectures are amazing. She is truly and incredible professor. She also gives lots of extra credit.
The dictionary defines superlative as: of the highest kind, quality, or order, surpassing all else, or others. Supreme. I define it as Dr. Nobles. As a professor, as a leader, as a woman, and as a friend, she is of the highest kind, quality, and order. Genuinely cares about her students and their learning. Do yourself a favor and take her course.<3
I've been at CSULB for 4 years now and I finally ran across the best professor at the school! Just great. She brings her A game and energy to every lecture and she performs! She's here to help you and will tell you everything you need to know to succeed if you go to office hours. Take her, believe me when i say this. 5 star*
4 years here & finally found the best STEM gem. I'm so glad I took her over any other of the physio profs. Nobles is funny, sweet, charismatic AND she teaches SO WELL above all. There's HW, Tests, & EC assignments. For COVID, lectures were asynchronous & sometimes over an hour, but you actually learn. LOVE HER. I want her to teach all my classes
Dr. Nobbs is great. Lectures are lengthy but only because she goes over things multiple times in order for her students to understand the concepts. She truly cares about her students and is very funny.
Dr. Nobles is an amazing professor! She is so caring for her students and really wants you to succeed. The course itself is difficult but Dr. Nobles tries to make the content as understandable as possible. Her lectures are also super interesting and fun to view. I wish that she could be my professor for all of my classes.
I loved her course. She is a wonderful teacher who is really passionate about what she teaches. She is very caring for her students as well. She is always there if you need motivation or some help. I would hands down pick her if you want a good online professor. If I can give her a best teacher award id give it to her in a heartbeat!
This class requires a lot of effort no matter who you take. Be ready to watch long lecture videos if you're taking her online. She really goes in-depth which is a good thing. I love her energy and she really is an amazing professor. She gives a lot of extra credit, and the final is cumulative but she gives you a study guide meaning it's easy.
All asynchronous! Lectures range 1:30-3hrs, recorded. 5Q question quiz for every lecture, 4 exams, easy final cumulative(very easy, study-guide provided), hws that make you study(very useful). she is amazing, you will understand everything she teaches, non-proctored exams are fair, you still have to study! you will learn and pass. she is amazing.
Take this class! Mia is the sweetest and is always willing to help you out. Lectures can be long, but it's because of all detail and review to help the student. Study your notes and listen for additional facts to be successful. Highly recommend going to office hours for help with homework and keep up with lab work.
Professor Nobles is my FAVORITE STEM professor so far in my academic career. She is such an understanding and caring professor! She genuinely wants you to pass so make sure you watch the entire lecture and take DETAILED NOTES. Her lectures and homeworks are incredibly long but they do help. Take advantage of all the extra credit.
Purely annoying with the 2 hour recorded lectures. Class is only supposed to be 1hr15min long, whether were online or not. She needs to stop wasting time repeating the same thing over and over again, it would spare us at least an hour. She also gives you 5 hour assignments for .05 of a point and doesnt give enough time for exams.
Dr.D is an amazing professor, her lectures although they sometimes can be 2 hours are still really good, her homework assignment do take a long time but they are very helpful, and she does give extra credit, she also is very accessible outside of class. I highly recommend her.
I was gonna wait to til the end of the semester for this but I just cant. This class is extremely difficult and time consuming, the lectures are extremely long and youll have to turn in 7-10 items everyweek. The exams are so hard no matter how much time you devote to studying or how much HW or EC you do its still hard to get a decent grade.
This class is honestly horrible. Super long lectures (2hrs+ each) and you don't even get enough time for quizzes or exams and you can NOT retake them if you fail. LOTS to turn in on Sundays, which is super stressful. Doesn't accept late work. This class is basically made up of TIMED and LOCKED (meaning you can't skip around) exams and quizzes.
i honestly have no idea how people on here were able to get an A im sure past classes had discord to help but not us :/ and u get no feedback on tests or quizzes ! which sucks not to mention the lectures and homework that takes many HOURS to complete like I get its a lot to learn but we still have other classes its really hard to manage everything
Long lectures, 2hrs longer than it's scheduled to be and lots of time-consuming hw to go with it every week. The lab and lecture don't even go hand by hand. You'll see something in lecture weeks after it was mentioned in lab or vise versa. There is also no way of telling what questions you got wrong or in quizzes or exams even if you ask.
Guys, please do not get fooled by the good ratings like I did. She does not care about her students because if she would, she would try to accommodate us but instead she makes things so much harder for us. Every week she posts picks of what she did over the weekend and i feel as if she is just bragging about how we couldn't have fun like she did.
TERRIBLE!!!!!! I don't know why she got so many good reviews previously!!! Take her class if you plan on taking 4 units for a sem only! I'm taking her class now, and I feel as I'm in 3rd or 4th-year college even though I am 1st year. She will not listen to your reasons for making up an exam. Her hw/lec/EC takes your time forever. EC only works 1-2p
Dr. D is really sweet and caring! Her powerpoint presentations can be over 2 hours long, but they're very helpful and specific! The lecture exams are basically everything she mentions, so take good notes. She gives out multiple homework and extra credit assignments every week, and they're all due on Sunday @ 11:59.
I would not take her if i were you. She is not comprehensive at all. Covid-19 is still a thing, it is hard for students to learn, many of us can not concentrate at home. Ig it's alright to give a lot of work but at least let us turn it in late. She doesn't accept any type of late work, not even a second late and as for the exams, they're hard!!
I'm sorry but her teaching kinda sucks, no offense. In one of the previous lectures, we were learning about a pathway and she decided it was a good idea to talk about the end first? Then the beginning? Then the middle? That was just so confusing. No late work accepted, little time on exams and quizzes, lots of homework. It's really hard to get an A
Dr. Nobles has been a pretty solid professor thus far. Yes, there is a lot of lecture content but, honestly, it's necessary for people going into the healthcare field. My only issues with the class were that the lab and lecture portion did not go hand-in-hand in terms of content. Also, HW was really time-consuming and the extra credit doesn't help.
If I could give her a 0 I would. She is so strict when it comes to turning assignments on time. I turned in an assignment 1 second late and I got deducted a full 2 points and the assignment was only worth 5 pts. Don't get me wrong Dr.D is chill herself but when it comes to school ... she's a whole different person.
I love her!! All assignments are due Sunday at 11:59 pm so we have plenty of time to watch the lectures and complete the assignments. We get RAMs every week, they are small quizzes that are super easy if you watched her lectures and took notes. Her lectures are interactive and she is energetic. You will have plenty of EC and she is understanding.
I hate everything about this class if I'm being real. I hate how we can't see what questions we got wrong on a quiz (if we could that could help for the future exams), lab and lecture are at a different pace, not enough time to complete exams/ quizzes, the lock thing in exams, the time consuming hw, the extra credit that doesn't even help etc....
She walks us through every single detail in the lecture and makes sure we understands everything. She gives a whole week for HW and the quiz answers are located in the lecture. Ive ended every exam with 20 min left because the questions were very straight forward. As long as you try, you ll get an A. This isnt a G.E class, dont expect it to be.
I love Dr D. She understands her students and ensures that her students understand the topics within human physiology. She explains everything in grave detail and her homework assignments help with understanding the lecture in its entirety. She is such a down to earth person and makes learning about physiology fun.
Definitely one of my favorite professors so far, love her energy and passion !!! Her lectures are really helpful (although could be long) and interesting if you are truly passionate about the human body and want to do well in your future profession. She offers lots of EC and her test is really easy if you don't slack off! Def TAKE HER!!!
Honestly this class was tough. Took it during COVID. BUT IT IS DOABLE! If you put in the work and study, you can pass! She gives plenty of extra credit as well. Holds office hours every week and goes into more depth, since the class is asynchronous. TAKE DETAILED NOTES ON EVERYTHING. it is a lot but it is manageable
Dr. Dobbs is elite. All of the negative reviews are written by people who can't handle what it takes to be a science major. You need to put in the work or else you won't succeed. Mia Nobles is the SWEETEST and BEST physiology prof. Physiology basically critical thinking. Study hard & put the time in. She is the best there is. 1000000% NO CAP.
Nobles is an amazing prof who cares about you and gives you so many opportunities to succeed! I actually understand her content- the people leaving bad reviews probably don't go to office hours, have poor time management, or never took chem 140 lol. If you can't handle a little more of a heavy workload, don't be in stem!
Dont be misled by all the bad reviews on here. Dr. D is literally one of the most amazing and inspirational professors you will ever have. Although there lectures are kinda long, she is SUPER clear on her grading criteria and what needs to be submitted to get an A on all the assignments, and she offers SO MUCH extra credit throughout the semester!
The BEST professor I've ever had! You can really tell she puts her heart/soul in her lectures and her teachings. She really explains concepts and goes over material more than once to make sure we've all got it down, which is something I really appreciate. She is also very easy to talk to, so you can always email her! Cannot recommend her enough!
Nobles is one of the most caring professors I've ever had! Workload and deadlines are reasonable- if your planning to just turn stuff in late all the time, good luck being in STEM! Communication is key and she is willing to help you if you ask! Most students don't and wonder why they are doing bad.
PLEASE TAKE HER YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. I highly recommend taking Prof. Nobles. She really puts thought and heart into her lectures. She offers extra credit and is fair with regards to her grading. Exams are fair and all the information needed can be found on her PowerPoints. No doubt one of the best professors I've ever had.
You can pass physiology w/ Dr. Nobles if you put the time in to actually listen to her lectures and write good notes as you follow along. All quizzes and exams are based on lectures, so if you do bad on them, honestly its on you. Theres a lot of extra credit opportunities as well as easy homework. The hw helps you get good grades on exams too.
Dr. Dobbs is one of the best professors I have ever had at my time at LB! The course is your typical STEM course so don't be lazy, its not a GE course lol. If you really enjoy the human body then you will love this course. She is accommodating per CSULB's guidelines and is accessible out of class, just shoot her an email! She has office hours too!!
Honestly, Dr. D is an amazing professor. However, the majority of her lectures do run longer than the 90 mins the class should be which is very frustrating. I know it's because of the material but not everyone has the time and privilege to watch 2hr+ long lectures while managing other classes and a job. Only take if you can set aside 10-12 hrs a wk
Great teacher, if you need help on something, just shoot her an email, and she will reply promptly. Very caring and gives us as much extra credit as possible to help cushion our grades. Lectures are long, but only because she repeatedly repeats herself to ensure that we understand the concepts. Stick to a schedule, and you'll do fine. STUDY. STUDY
DON'T listen to the hate comments! Dr. Dobbs is an amazing professor that cares about her students, wants them pass, but wants them to learn. If you are pre-kin/nursing this class is important and she is the professor to take. Lectures are long but if you pay attention, you will do well on exams. HW is also long but helpful Extra credit every week!
Although some of the lectures r long, Nobles makes them interesting & fun to learn. Physio is for future health care professionals & manageable for those up to the job. Time management is key! Take good notes, study for the exams, turn in assignments on time, & go to OH for an easy A. BEST PROFESSOR IVE HAD!
The fact that Dr. D sent an emailing to all her students about her rating should say enough about who she is. I'm not sure if this was done intentionally but the email sounded like she wanted to discredit the voices that disagree with her immense workload. now her ratings are flooded with overly positive reviews. Very unprofessional and childish
One of my favorite professors i've had! If you're willing to put in the work as a first year student make sure you're dedicated. The rams (quizzes) are based of the lectures. The video lectures can be long but they contain TONS of useful info for the exams. HW will require drawings and pathways of the systems. Overall, such an amazing class!
Dr. D is an incredible teacher! She really keeps you engaged during her lectures, which are pre-recorded. She is very encouraging and wants all her students to succeed so much so that she gives out extra credit assignments almost every other week. Would definitely take the class again or any other classes that she is teaching.
Don't be fooled by the "positive" reviews, Dr. D sent a mass email to her students, GASLIGHTING them about "negative" reviews on this site. Now some may deem these comments negative, but you cannot deny the facts about this class. Dr D is fairly nice, but in terms of teaching, be prepared to be neck deep in work. READ ALL REVIEWS B4 TAKING BIOL207
It's honestly baffling that a group of disgruntled students decided to go on a smear campaign because they couldn't handle the course load of a non-GE class. Dr. Dobbs is a GREAT professor. Yes, coursework is heavy but this class is for future HC professionals. Y'all really ridiculous thinking college-level Physiology was gonna be a breeze.
These overly positive comments are a result of her playing the victim card about the extremely long lectures that go over the time limit posted on the syllabus. Even the positive comments state how long her lectures can be and how much of a workload there is. Not worth it. Also professors should not be silencing negative comments on here.
Mia is kind it'll tell you that but no matter how hard I try in this class or carefully pay attention to her lectures, it's just hard to get a passing grade. I go to her office hours, do all her hw, study, ask her clarifying questions, do all her e.c. I even dropped my job just to fully dedicate my time to this class and I'm still not passing ...
Funny how she had a lot of bad ratings until she addressed it in an email she sent the entire class. All imma say is just read everything, good and bad comments and then see if the class works for you or not. Personally, it didn't work for me but if have great time management, like to do a crazy amount of hw, do well in timed exams go for it ig.
Dr. Dobbs is such an amazing professor. Her online exams are open-note and she gives out at least one extra credit every week. There are many reviews about work-load, but they are not that bad especially since this class is for future health care professionals. Don't be discouraged with these people with poor time management skills. Take this class
Lectures are TOO LONG! The schedule says the class is only supposed to be 1hr and 15 min and that is how it's supposed to be. She makes her lectures like a whole 3 hrs. Lab portion and lecture do NOT match. U only get 1 minute per question on exams which would be okay if everything was multiple choice but many questions ask u to put things in order
Dr. Dobbs is an amazing professor. She actually cares about the well being and success of her students. She is open for questions/comments/concerns. Sure her lectures were long, but very detailed and thorough. If you are in this course, you put in the work and you will succeed. Going into a medical career isnt easy and shes preparing you.
Professor D is sweet! I emailed her when I ran into a family issue. She replies to students' emails and she is understandable tho! This class is for future healthcare workers so ofc the material is heavy. As long as you put the time to do it, it will become doable. Long lectures but you have like a whole week to complete them!!!!
Dr. D alright. Her class gave me a bunch of mental breakdown though and I lost my passion for my future major. Ik it was meant to be hard but ooof, this is a whole different level of tough. I kinda wanna drop out of school now and never come back lol.
Passionate about the course. If you are interested in physiology and put the effort in to learn, its a great class. The lectures sometimes are long but they are worth the time. Furthermore the class layout is super clear and easy to keep up with. Also cares about student health and can reach out to for help for anything.
Dr. D is really misunderstood. She's extremely helpful. It is very time-consuming, I won't lie about that, but its given when taking a physiology course. I'm not even a healthcare major but enjoyed the class material TIP: Manage your time. Its a make or break in this course. Dr. D is a great professor nonetheless.
Professor Nobles sent an email out about her heartbreak over the fact that students were not doing well with her work load and leaving bad reviews. This is because she IS lecture heavy. If you can't handle it, I would recommend switching majors. This is only the beginning. She is great and obviously caring and, might I add, HUMAN. She's spectacular
Dr. Nobles is an amazing teacher who really cares about her students. She has long lectures sometimes but thats because she really spends the time explaining every one of her slides so that you know what will be expected on the tests. She teaches in a fun and comprehensive way that really helps you understand the material. Best science prof.
Shes a great professor makes the lectures herself repeats material a lot to make sure students understand, although her lectures are long you will understand the material afterwards, and she cares. Interesting videos that she makes you watch not hard at all. I recommend printing out the notes she makes, it helps. Hw helps with understanding concept
Professor Nobles is amazing!! Her lectures are long but she gives plenty of time to get them done. Her quizzes and homework assignments are easy if you watch the lectures. She is so sweet and is always willing to help and discuss any questions you may have. Her class requires proper dedication and effort, if you do this you will succeed.
One of my favorite professors at CSULB. Lectures can be super long but she is engaging and tries her best to make them interesting. Offers lots of extra credit. Homework can be time consuming but really not difficult. As long as you take notes along with the lecture and make some flashcards to study the info you'll get a good grade on tests.
Honestly, she's not that bad. Offers plenty of extra credit. Her lectures are long, so be prepared. This class is very time consuming but if you put in actual effort, you can pass! Take detailed notes on everything she says. She cares for her students a lot. Semi difficult class but it's reasonable since it is a science course.
Dr. Dobbs is VERY caring. Yes, her lectures are long, but it's because of the amount of content we have to learn. Without the lectures being long, we'd have to take a ton of notes outside of class on our own from the textbook instead. It's a solid tradeoff. She explains things very thoroughly and I credit most of my physiology knowledge to her!
Love the way she teaches! Her lectures are super long but she gives you Everything you need to know for exams as long as you take good notes! Great professor for visual learners! She's so very nice, caring, funny. She is by far my favorite professor. Lots of extra credit she was kind enough to make an EC assignment dedicated to my mom with cancer.
I took Dr. D before we went online in Spring 19-20 and tbh I enjoyed her class. She had good energy and you can tell she's passionate about her job. that's pretty much it tho, she assigns a lot of work, lectures r long and ec assignments r not worth it for 2 points. u basically study to get a C. This class was one of the hardest classes i've taken.
She is literally the best teacher here at Csulb!! I lover her class so much!! She is a great teacher and is super on it!! She emails you back pretty soon, she is at being fair, we do the same thing every week so its structured really good and most of all she cares so much!! She loves all the material and once you get in a rhythm the class flies by!
worst class I have ever taken!
Mia Nobles is a wonderful professor. Yes, there's a lot of homework, quizzes, and exams that's worth a lot of points, but she is willing to help and guide you. The only thing that made me struggle in this class was my lab professor, Max Amaya. Do not take him. He is very sarcastic, mean, and doesn't help you at all.
Dr. Nobles is one of the sweetest professors. Yes, her lectures are long, but she clearly explains the concepts, making it so you really understand it. It's a hard class yes, but if you put in the work an A is definitely attainable. The people who are struggling in this class are the people who are not willing to put the time into actually studying
Had her for fall 2020 and it is super impossible receiving an A. You can do all the assignments and get all the credit for them but the highest you'll get is a C if you are lucky. These timed exams and quizzes are such a nightmare lol. Having 2 exams on finals day is also super stressful ...
Extremely lengthy lectures that dont match the labs lots of assignments due at the end of the week. Very difficult ur basically putting all your blood sweat and tears towards a C if ur lucky I sincerely dont know how some of these ppl are claiming to get an A. I regret taking this class especially online it was hard to balance especially if u work
This is a tough class without a doubt. However, Professor Nobles is extremely passionate about her job and makes this class as easy as possible for a college-level science course. The exams revolve around her lectures, so if you are paying attention to them and taking good notes you will pass. BTW a 65% is a C in her grading scale.
Dr.D is one of the best professors I've had. Being a pre-req this class IS difficult, and there's a lot of content, but she's so enthusiastic during her lectures and tries to help students as best she can. She also gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit that will really boost your grade!
Professor Nobles is the best! Her lectures can be long, but they are long to help you understand the content. She gives lots of extra credit assignments. I have never met a professor who cares and wants her students to succeed. It's a difficult class, but she makes it organized and is always there for help.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! Dr. Nobles is one of the best teachers I have ever had! She's very caring and positive, she gives plenty of extra credit. It is definitely possible to get an A if you put in the work. I can say it is time consuming but she truly teaches in a way that is enjoyable and easy to comprehend. Trust me you won't regret taking her!!
My Muslim brothers and sisters, pray to Allah that you get an A. Allah has guided me through this bio course and wallahi this wouldn't have been possible without his guidance, wisdom, and knowledge. Call out to Allah for help and surely he will respond! The score I had received is ONLY because of my lord and because it was Ramadan. Eid Mubarak!
Dr. Dobbs is the best professor I've ever had! She truly cares about all her students and wants them to pass. Lectures are long but she's so enthusiastic which makes them fun to watch. LOTS of extra credit which helps with your grade so much. If you pay attention and take good notes you WILL pass!!! TAKE HER you won't regret it, loved this class!
PLEASE I BEG YOU, do not take this class if you do not have a friend taking it with you!! It gets difficult so having a study buddy would definitely help you. But fyi do not make a discord/ groupme to make your "friends". oh and Mia is super nice but the course itself is just too heavy
80 % of the class received either As or Bs, so don't be discouraged. Dr. Dobbs is an amazing teacher, and I love her teaching style. However, the lectures are a little long, and the homework can be tedious.
Be prepared to drop what you love to do for this class. Trust me, with this class you will NEVER have a break so say goodbye to your weekends because you will mostly spend your days working on ALL the hw and studying for her super hard module exams.
Dr. D's workload is just to much and her lectures are soooo long. She'll expect you to do 8+ time consuming assignments each week and watch her 2, 2+ hr lectures each week. I found things to be more difficult than what they should have been but I think that was because in office hrs, she would teach way better than she would in actual lectures.
I urge you to take Dr. D! She is truly the best teacher I have had in my whole academic career. She truly cares about her students and it shows. The lectures can get long but they are so engaging and interesting I didn't even mind; she makes learning fun! She also offers many opportunities for extra credit, and office hours are so helpful!
All I'm going to say is .. this class was awful. Expects too much from us. If you take this class. GOOD LUCK GETTING AN IMPOSSIBLE A
Honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had. Yes, the lectures are sometimes long, and the homework is sometimes tedious, but it's all for a purpose, and it's very doable. She offers so much extra credit that it's not hard to get an A. She's super funny and shows so much enthusiasm in her lectures, I would recommend her a thousand times over.
Honestly, I didn't enjoy this class at all. IT STRESSED MY SOUL OUT SO MUCH. LONG tiring lectures 2ish hrs. LOADS of hw, 2 weekly quizzes until the very end. EXAMS ARE AWFUL. You can't go back and you have very limited time to answer.
I would've liked this class if she would've taught the actual class the same way she taught in her office hours. I'm not a big fan of watching pre-recorded lectures because i like to ask questions while the prof is lecturing but, in this class, you can't really do that, you have to email, if you have questions :/
One of my favorite prof. at Csulb so far. Her lectures are long. There are weekly 5 question quizzes, but are super easy if you listened to the lectures. Her test can be hard and tricky, so MAKE SURE YOU READ THE QUESTION. She gives out so much ec, so do them. She honestly teaches the materials very well with touches of humor to keep lec fun.
TAKE HER!! she honestly prevented me from changing my major (prenursing) bc of how passionate she is! my fav professor I have ever taken and even though the lectures can be long, its a lot easier if you watch like 30 min a day! quizzes and exams are ez if you take note of the small details in lecture. truly the most interesting and fulfilling class
Professor Nobles is hands down one of the best professors I have ever had. Her lectures were pretty long , but it was clear and detailed. In addition, the amount of effort and enthusiasm she puts into teaching makes her lectures that much more exciting to watch. While the class isn't an easy A, it should be achievable should you put the effort.
HANDS DOWN fave professor I had this semester! vids can be long (take breaks) but it is clear she is passionate abt what she teaches and wants the best for us. assignments may be tedious, but it was really helpful for studying for exams and TEAS (for u prenursing peeps). constant email reminders & heartfelt messages. truly cares & very accessible!
While I took this class with BIOL208 (Anatomy) and a part-time job, this class was easy to manage. You really just need to set aside 4 hours a week to get all the homework and lectures done on time. The exams for the lecture and lab are pretty easy as long as you're not dumb in your approach. This class REALLY IS NOT HARD. No struggle. I stg.
Really great professor. I don't like biology but still liked this class because she teaches it in a very good way. She gave a lot of extra credit that if you did them, you will good for the class. You should work hard for this class but it is easy and fun.
Dr. Nobles-Dobbs is a very caring professor. As other reviews say, her lectures are long, however, they are never boring. She divides her lessons in a way where we actually can remember the materials taught. Her post-lecture quizzes are easy and forces us to actually listen to lectures. 5% boost from her extra credit. Hard not to get an A.
It was so bad I wanted to give this class a zero. But thats not possible so I give you a 1.
i've been taking for 3 weeks and already best class ive ever taken. she is caring, passionate, and is teaching out of love. she is engaging and you will enjoy learning in this class. so interesting you almost forget your taking a hard course. takes no effort to pay attention because she is such a good lecturer.
Nobles is great! The content is made to be difficult, but she makes it so it's easier to understand. That is why the lectures are long. Be sure to not have a busy schedule and probably don't have a job that requires you to work a lot. She is probably one of the most passionate professors ever. She wants you to pass; put in the effort! Lab is hard.
Amazing teacher. Lectures were recorded but very detailed with lots of visuals and clear notes that are easy to follow. She implements a lot of creative ways for students to learn and retain the material. Exams were very difficult and detailed but all the information is found in recorded lectures. Work due weekly and lots of EC opportunities.
Nobles is the most passionate teacher I've met thus far. Very caring towards her students. Class is asynch. Lecture recordings are extremely long, so be prepared to take out 2-3 hours of your day to take notes. HW helps with retaining info, but can take long. Exams are open note, and have lots of select the false statement/true statement. Take her!
DR.D IS THE SWEETEST SOUL. She truly wants you to succeed. The class was lecture heavy and you do have to put in a LOT of work but she makes it worth it. She gives about more that 30point extra and go to office hours they are always helpful. She is very understanding with deadlines however you do have to show that you care. GOOD LUCK YOU GOT THIS!
SUCH an enthusiastic professor! She is always an email away. Our class was asynchronous, but her recorded lectures are so comprehensive and easy to understand. If you are lost, emailing her will 95% of the time clear things up! As long as you keep up with the work and don't procrastinate, the class will be your best class.
Best science professor that I've ever had. Her lectures are very time consuming but she makes the material sound very interesting and I learned so much from listening to her. Way better than reading a textbook. A lot of her homework requires drawing which can be tedious but it helps! She offers plenty of extra credit and is the sweetest person
Way too time consuming. HOURS of lecture videos. Not to mention the weekly quizzes and homework. Homework was confusing, she gives no examples. You have to go to office hours for that. Videos were not that boring but she takes so long explaining everything to the point where it gets boring. No projects or anything but the amount of work is insane.
Dr.Nobles is a good professor her lecture can be long but she explains things thoroughly although it can be time-consuming yet a fun video lecture. I suggest taking time to watch and take notes on the lecture. a lot of homework esp. pathways that will help you understand the materials. and attend office hours she will help you answer some hw.
Professor Nobles is the best! I definitely recommend her. She genuinely cares for her students and provides plenty of extra credit. The lectures are definitely long but very detailed and easy to understand. She also assigns a lot of homework. but it really helps you prepare for the exams. The final is super easy and she gives a study guide.
This class was asynchronous so most of the lecture were done on video recordings which were pretty long. However, even while listening to her lectures you can definitely tell how passionate Nobles was about physiology. I honestly wish I could've taken her in person. Also, take advantage of the extra credit she gives throughout the semester!
