this class is pretty easy.. just get all the required quiz and hw points and just do all the outlines for extra credit and get at least like a C or somethin on the tests and you will get an A for sure...

Can't ask for a teacher better than this; she explains very clearly and makes the material easily understandable. Tests are really easy and there's a bunch of extra credit available. Easy A as long as you put the effort in the class.

Take her class. You will learn a lot from her. Also, she give us a lot of extra credit. Do all the homework and outline. You still can get an A if you didn't do very well on the exam. ANYWAY..TAKE HER..SHE IS THE BEST.

Wonderful teacher who's enthusiastic about her field of topic and it shows in her lectures. She makes information that is difficult to understand much clearer and easier to pick up. Very helpful during office hours. Plenty of extra credit, easy A

Gives alot of extra credits. Lecture can be confusing as her writings on the overhead get messy, but when she does an actual problem it's easier to understand. I passed all her classes for a person who's not much into accounting.

If you are an accounting major, you MUST take her. You will LEARN in her class by making it fun to laugh @ GAAP. She is simple to understand & reviews all HW. Tests are somewhat difficult (m/c & short answer), but drops lowest grade. Gives a lot of ExCdt.

She's a great teacher. Easy.. gives lots of extra credit and you earn points just by doing HW. Her tests are not too hard and she drops the lowest one. Her class is also quite interesting and fun.

Really good instructor. In my personal opinion, she is really organized and well prepared in her lectures. She might appear little strict time to times, but will help you out as long as you try. Really stict on cheating, so watch out

Her class isn't that hard. There are a lot of homework and quizzes though. The final exam is all multiple-choice with one written problem. If you do the extra credit you should get at least a "B" in the class.

clear and concise teacher. shows exaclty what she's grading you on and goes over the hw during class. alot of the grade is based around the excel assignments she assigns. dont be afraid to ask for help or clarification during class. she likes that alot.

trust me, she knows her subject well. if you dont pay attention its your fault not her. do her homework and study at home ...u will get an "A" . she teaching is excellent. highly recommended but make sure u study, if you dont study we will fail.

great teacher because she thoroughly explains things and encourages people to ask questions. if you take her, ASK questions! it will only help you if you do. theres 40 pts extra credit (can raise ur grade up by 2/3 of a letter: B to an A-). shes really nice about helping and FAIR about her class.

Her class is very helpful and organized well. You can learn a lot from her class. She gives 40 points extra credit helping people who want higher scores on grade. I got two As in her classes.

Mia is one of the few instructors at DeAnza who "gets" it. She is a professor, not a teacher. She expects her students to clearly understand a concept before leaving her class. She is helpful, nice and good looking too.

Tipton, I love you. I learned a lot from you in Accounting. you are very good teach because you are alway nice for your students. your ability to explain the material is very very well.

She is a good teacher. Her explanation is pretty easy to understand and quite helpful. One thing that REALLY bothered me through the course was that she gave us TONs of out-of-class assignments from which you can learn nothing much. It would be just a waste of your time.

Nice professor....too nice!! 40 points extra credit and I just need 1 digit score in Final to get an A^^

this class is super easy and you learn a lot. she makes the subject very easy and is very opinionated. shes willing to help you and the test are very straight forward like the notes and class. do the homework, it helps. she offers a lot of extra credit too. do all the homework and you'll do fine.

Mia is the best. She is nery nice and her class is very straight forward. Offers about 20 homework assignments and all you turn in is about 8. All you need is a certain amount of quiz points that you build up. Lots of extra credit. No surprises on the tests. Not for slackers...you do need to work!

Pay no attention to the ridiculously inaccurate rating preceding mine. Tipton is a phenomenal accounting professor. Granted, there is a fair amount of work to be done, but you will learn a lot in the process. Her grading system makes it impossible NOT to get an A! Loads of extra credit.

Tipton is GREAT accouning teacher. She is probably one of the best at DeAnza. Her class requires work. there are E.C. but not too much so do good on the tests. she explains clearly and actually MAKES YOU UNDERSTAND THE SUBJECT. I RECOMMEND HER over karlston any time...

I took this instructor in the late 90's in 2 different classes. I thoroughly enjoyed her teaching style. She always answered my questions. She ran up-to-date and challenging classes. She worked us all, and I ended up doing my best for her. I hope she teaches a very long time!

Best accounting teacher I ever had. Including all my accounting teachers at UCSB. Learned more about accounting from her class then any of my classes at UCSB.

shes a good teacher. just dont get caught cheating or even look like youre cheating though. shes verrrrry strict/harsh/cruel about that sort of thing.

I learned more about basic accounting in this class than I did when I took the distant learning versions of Acct. 1A and 1B. She explains the material well.

Sheis one of my favorite teachers. There was no way you can get a bad grade. She gives so many opportunities for extra credit. And doing the extra credit helps you out when it comes time for your tests, so its a win win situation really.

she is kool lady and i like her class. some time i don't get her homework things... its easy A class.. she never fail any one frm her class. she give u EC pionts if u have less point on finals... have fun..

this class requires a lot of print outs for the homework!at least 7pages each meeting.but the teacher is really good.she explains concepts really well.she's also approachable.she'll only give one midterm and one extra credit exam.no quizzes or finals.and one group project at the end of the quarter.

Lectures were kind of unclear due to ltos of abbreviations, but doing hw and reading text really helps. Tipton's very nice and helpful if u have questions. Lots of extra credit available, just keep on top of hws. quizzes are easy too.

She's like a mother to the class(not in a bad way). She gives lots of extra credit. Just do the hw, and go to class bc she really clarifies the material. She is very helpful and patient if you have a question or don't understand something. I highly recommend, but be prepared to photocopy all your hw. She also has a great sense of humor.

Best of the best. she knows the stuff very well, great teaching style, explains every details, sense of humor, and lots of extra credit. However, the only down side is that she only accepts copies of your hw (4-12 pages almost every class meeting). Easy A if you do all the homework and outlines.

i can tell you she gives a lot of hw but you can learn a lot from her class.Midterms are quite hard make sure you read the book!

Cool teacher, hard course in general though. she breaks it down good. DO the ch. outlines for extra credit!! A LOT of chances to get FULL credit on HW & pop quizzes (predictable b/c theres one after you're fully done with going over each chapter). 1 group proj, 4 midterms, drops 1 - mult choice & short answer. easy 'B', but 'A' if you REALLY study.

Mia is a great teacher. I learned alot in her class. I had taken the class from another teacher, but dropped it. She works very hard to make sure you understand. I wish I had her for all three accounting classes.

Took the class in the summer. Final project is fairly easy but a lot of work. Just do the homework. She will break it down for you if you ask. She went over 99% of homework problems. Awesome personality and sense of humor I cracked her up and she cracked me up. I earned an A.

i took her in 1a and she is easy i think.. many xtra credit, hw is not hard, quiz too. exam is fair but need to study.. which exam doesnt right? i like her sense of humor.. enlightens the classs so the class is not boring.. cool teacher

Prof Tipton is a good teacher. She knows her stuff and is very clear. If you show up to class and do the homework you should get a good grade, but there is a lot of homework involved. There are many excel projects due, but she makes it so there are plenty of extra credit involved. She can be moody at times, but a very nice teacher overall.

She is one of the best accounting teachers at De Anza! If you don't understand any of the concepts, just talk to her during her office hours. She tends to skim over the materials at times so make sure to read the textbook. VERY long tests... be prepared!

A great teacher. Her attitude is perky, fun, helpful, yet always on track. She gives a lot of homework out, but requires only some of it due and she gives many chances for extra credit. One bad thing... she assigns a group project and presentation. Yes, oral presentation for accounting... uggh!!! Anyway if you fail her class, then you deserved it!

sh e not that hard. her ****s so clear. her exams not hard if u practised. she will give each chapter practise problems and same type of problems comes in exams. so she so helpfull.

She forces you to make photocopies of all your homework. No excel in her class. She also has no web site or e-mail listed on her syllabus. An accounting teacher afraid of computers?

She does everything she can to help us understand what accountants gotta do in real life. Cracks up jokes to enlighten long class sessions. Warning! She's very strict in plagiarism and she gave a lot of people 0 for HW points this qtr. I like her teaching style which she tries to develop trust with her students, gives extra credit 9% of final grade

As an accounting major student took most of accounting classes at DeAnza with many instructors, I would say she is the best! Although she gives a lot of homeworks and quizes, she really explains accounting concepts very well and clear. If you are serious in learning accounting, take her class. Highly recommonded.

Three quarters down the road to accounting & finance major. Ms. Tipton is a great teacher, works hard with everyone who came to ask questions. She sets system to detect plagiarism. She gives you quiz to make sure you read the chapter, hw so you do it first hand, then the test. Your test is your third time doing the same type of problem. No tricks!

Tipton is the best acctg. teacher. She's very knowledgeable about acctg. You'll learn a lot from her.You really have to study hard to get good grade coz it's not open book. She is much much better than Botsford. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Great teacher - take her for 1A-C. Great teaching style. She cleared up a lot of confusion for me. Her picky grading and over use of red pen is very frustrating. Don't try to talk to her about it - she goes into defense mode and will not budge. Ignore it, move on. She finds some one else to pick on.
