Tests are harder than they should be. More than 50% T/F which are tricky even if you know the information well. It's not hard to get an A but you have to pay attention. The projects help your grade a lot. The TA is overworked and hard to sit down with to view exams. Don't buy any books
Very easy class, just very boring lecture. If you need an easy bump to your GPA take it.
Super easy. Study powerpoint AND videos. Don't listen to people who say they only studied quizlet and got A's on exams. Tests are over DETAILED material in powerpoints. Group is the worst part of the class. Pointless, people don't care, hard to contact. All other assignments were easy and graded fairly. Tests are easy if you stud y three days befor
Don't need textbook, he posts slides & videos of lecture. No final. Gave one extra credit opportunity. Definitely not an easy A but with a decent amount of effort you can make it happen. Exams were on campus after 5. I found the grading criteria to be very unclear and confusing - ask TAs for clarity. Overall not too bad. I would recommend.
If you are used to taking heavy science classes and studying 20hrs+ a week for them then taking this class will be a breeze. Literally, all you have to do is study the ppts, listen to the videos, and put a little effort into memorizing food specifications and rules such as this group cant eat pork, etc . People study last minute and then do poorly.
Very easy material, and they made the tests WAY too specific. This should have been an easy A class and I ended up with a B and studying a lot. if you are taking this as an elective, find an easier class.
Take this class if you want an easy A. Watch the lectures, stay on top of the weekly quizzes, and make sure to study for the tests but not too long. This is an easy class if you don't slack off.
Class is not an easy credit like people say. The test are super specific and he never puts out a review for the tests. He literally just posts the lectures and you have to guess what will be on the test! I recommend finding an easier credit.
Do not take this class if you are looking for an easy A. Videos of lectures are posted online but they are very boring and hard to stay interested in. The tests are taken in person and they ask VERY specific questions you would not have thought possible.
Super Easy B and mildly easy A. Really specific questions on the exams (4 of them). Easy quizzes every week that help (10 of them). The TA's are horrible. The paper assignments (2 of them) are a pain and the TA's are SUPER picky at grading; will take off for just about everything you can imagine. Class is not too bad overall.
This is an online class but you have to go in on Friday evenings to take your exams. There are weekly quizzes which are easy and the other assignments aren't bad.
All I have to say is that each exam is wayyy too specific. You literally have to memorize every single detail and the exams, unlike quizzes, were not online, so the exam times conflicted with my other classes, a pain in the butt. The group project wasn't hard except for trying to arrange a time to meet and film it. Wouldn't take again or recommend
I took NUTR 300 online and it was pretty straightforward, theres really no reason not to get an A as long as you study, Tests are pretty specific.
If you're thinking about taking the online class for an easy A then think again. The exams are really specific and it is a lot of information to take in. If you do well on the pop quizzes and other assignments then it evens out the exams, so it is not too bad. Be prepared to take the exams on campus and not online like a usual web-based course.
Went into this class thinking it would be an easy A... I was wrong. The tests are usually 50 questions and it was 30 T/F and 20 multiple choice. The true false was extremely detailed and made to trick you, so even if you felt like you studied the material it would never be enough. I hated this class and really regret taking it.
Excellent professor
It was and good and informative class, where you can learn about different cultures and their food. If you prepare for quizzes on time then exams are not difficult. It's an easy A and I will strongly recommend it
Do not expect an easy A out of this class. His lectures are incredibly boring and just recordings of him going over everything that is already on the slides. There is three in person tests which is annoying for an online class. The group project is a pain because you have to record all group members at once. I would not recommend this class.
It can be a very easy class if you go over the lecture slides and make sure you know all of the material. The true or false questions can be tricky because they are really specific. The group project was a pain because it was hard to get together with everybody but it is an easy class if you try. Don't expect to do nothing and pass the class.
It was an awesome experience taking this class as an easy A. Lectures are interesting and Professor explains everything very nicely in videos. You have to prepare for quizzes every week but exam preparation became easy if you study during quizzes. I would like this Professor to teach other courses as well. Strongly recommend to take it
It was a knowledgeable and interesting course with an easy A where you can get lot of information about different cultures and religions. Quizzes are easy with just two questions but assignments take time. Exams are not hard to prepare if you are doing good in quizzes. Highly recommend this course. This Professor should also teach other courses
Great Class, easy information, nice Professor well organized lectures. Would recommed to take it
Easy course where you don't have to study a lot. One time listening to lecture videos would be enough for quizzes and exams. Would like to take other courses offered by this Professor
This class was definitely an easy A.I took this as a GPA booster & that's exactly what it was. Super easy class if you put in minimum effort- 10 quizzes, 3 fairly easy projects, and 3 exams that you will pass if you study a day before. Very manageable class if you put forth the effort. Best elective I've taken so far and solidified my interest in n
I took this as a GPA booster & that's exactly what it was. Super easy class if you put in minimum effort- 10 quizzes, 3 fairly easy projects, and 3 exams that you will pass if you did good in quizzes. I would recommend to take this class
This is a pretty easy class if you're looking for an easy ICD credit. If you watch the online lectures and take notes, he tells you everything you need to know. Weekly 2 question quizzes, you need to study a bit for the tests but they aren't anything crazy. Easy A but you can definitely put in just enough effort and still pass.
Awesome class with lot of interesting and knowledgeable information about different cultures that you can apply to your daily life as well. TA was so polite and understanding. She responded to emails quickly and was pretty helpful in resolving the issues or concerns. Easy A class and must take it if you want to boost your GPA
Pretty much an easy A class! Need to put in minimum effort. It was a very informative and interesting class. There is a group project and other smaller projects. Expect a 2 question quiz every week. The tests he gave had a lot of true or false. Overall, I would say it was an easy class I recommend it, and you get an ICD credit for it.
I found the class boring because we're learning material off of powerpoint slides. The audio lectures are a simple read-off of the slides and they are incredibly boring. Just brute force memorize the info from the slides to get an A. Didn't learn as much as I wanted. Btw the project can turn out to be a disaster if your members don't coordinate.
Took this class for my ICD. It required pretty much 5 minutes of work per week and was pretty interesting as well... I learned quite a bit about how halal/kosher food is produced as well as how different ethnic cuisines function. If you're looking for the easiest A you're ever gonna get, take this class.
I took this class because I thought it be an easy A which is not true, yes its basic 10 quizzes easy af, but the test are sooooo SPECIFIC!! Like boring material from videos but memorize everything !! The group project is awful, no one meets up, and you must record all together. Biggest pain ever !! You have to take test in person as well.
Online class TA was very helpful through email. There is a group project, weekly quizzes, and exams. Everything is very clearly stated and organized for being an online class. Do your work and you will get an A. For sure not an easy A though you do have to put in work before the exams. Watch the lectures for sure!!
This was one of the best course I ever took. Learned a lot regarding different religious and ethnic food. I feel now that I am more educated regarding food from different cultures.
This class was very easy and a super good GPA booster. My only complaint would be that our TA was slightly cold sometimes, but Riaz was a nice guy!
Dr. Riaz is a great professor and the TA was very helpful over email. Just memorize every bit of the lecture and you will make an A in the class. The group project is annoying because no one wants to meet but this is a great GPA booster.
Fairly simple A if you study for the tests well. Weekly quizzes are extremely easy, but watch lecture vids before test bc the tests include super specific questions that sometimes are just things that he SAYS in the videos. Take this class w friends because it makes coordinating for the group project SO much easier. Also he bumped my 89.4 to an A.
More difficult than I thought. Lectures easy to follow and take notes, but the exams are super specific, and pretty difficult to get an A on. Everything else about the class is really simple though.
Good class It is actually very interesting and cool to learn about. Tests were pretty tricky but if you study the review you should do fine. Group project is weighed heavy which is very helpful and there was a 10 point extra credit assignment as well. Its a coin toss between an A and a B though.
This class should be a very easy A but the exams are SO specific! Lots of boring lectures that take forever to get through. Would try to take this class with a different prof if possible. The TA's are amazing and reply very quickly but you aren't suppose to contact Dr. Riaz unless it's about course content. Rarely heard from him.
This is a super easy class to take for an ICD credit. Just watch the lectures and show up and take the test. There are two minor assignments through the semester that are fairly easy they just require a little bit of effort. Other than that super easy class.
If you study the lectures or watch the videos you should be fine for his exams. He gives a review sheet before the exam so study the points on there, it's exactly like the exam. Questions are pretty specific so you have to know it but lecture quizzes and group projects are easy. Graded off few things so a really low exam grade could bring you down
Weekly quizzes - honestly don't need to watch videos, it's almost all on quizlet. One page paper that's pretty easy. One group project where you pick a food culture and make a video presentation about it. 3 in-person exams - study his reviews and search some already-made quizlets and you'll make an A.
If you are looking for an easy credit, take this class. It's not hard if you actually watch the lecture and memorize the information for the exams (which can be very specific), you still have to put in some effort. Some lectures are kinda boring but others are interesting. Biggest pain is the group project tho since no one ever wants to meet up.
Took this as an online only class. One short quiz a week, a couple exams, and a group project is basically all. The prof does not interact much, but it is no problem because all of the instructions online are clear and easy. The lectures are long but you can watch them on your own time or just read the slideshow notes instead.
Never spoke with the prof the whole semester. His TA does everything for us, so always contact the TA. Lectures are all uploaded and quizzes are very short and easy. Exams are fair as well. Instructions to do all assignments are very clear. Easy A class is you put in the effort and listen to the lectures posted.
Amazing professor and amazing class! Content is so interesting. Stay on top of the lectures and quizzes and take good notes! This class is super easy and fun, Take it!!
Absolutely terrible professor. Makes what should be a BLOW OFF CLASS a extremely difficult class. Would not recommend
Take this class! Weekly 5-question quizzes with questions straight from the PowerPoints, so take word-for-word notes. 1 easy group project, exams aren't proctored and are super easy. Exams were only open from 8-9pm, so you don't have all day to do them though. I didn't speak to the professor once and this class was an easy A.
Very easy A. Tests are word for word off of lecture notes, and a fairly easy group project. Definitely take
The prof takes a hands-off approach with this class. It's not exactly the easiest A, but it's not hard either so I still recommend taking it. It does not give the most accurate information on some of the cultures but it's whatever I guess.
This class was incredibly easy and requires a minimal amount of work. Exam questions are straight from the PowerPoints, literally word for word. They're all multiple choice too. One 5-question quiz a week. One group project, but my group was awesome so it was fun. Got a 100 on the final and ended the class with a 97. TAKE THIS CLASS!
I loved this class, it was not stressful and I found the material to be so interesting. I feel more knowledgeable about different religious diets and lifestyles. The group project was also simple and fun if you get a cooperative group. You will be sure to do well if you keep up with weekly quizzes and the group project! Highly Recommend!
Really easy class especially if you need to get a cultured credit out of the way. Write down the PowerPoints and you will get A's on test and quizzes. One group project but there is like 4 weeks to do it. Take this class!
I took this class as an easy A and it is a fairly simple class, however everything is weighted VERY heavily. Making a 80 on a quiz will bring you down by 2-3 points so beware of that. Make sure to do your best on everything if you want an A, but a B is very easy to make. The group project is a lot and kind of confusing, but it isn't that bad.
This class is the easiest A in existence. Do not buy the textbook, just take notes on powerpoint slides. All answers can be easily found in the slides or quizlet. The prof doesn't do anything though, but the class is super easy.
Prof. Riaz brought a lot of information regarding the different religious and ethnic restrictions to food. The material is straightforward albeit very dry. If you do not read you will not do well on the tests or quizzes. The course is very simple to follow.
This class is a super easy A. You don't interact with the professor at all, just read the lectures and take notes and you'll be fine. The tests are impossible but the quizzes and project are easy enough so it's easy to still get an A. I spent an hour or less on this class a week. If you need an easy A blowoff class, this is a good option.
3 tests, 1 huge group project, weekly quizzes for roll/ participation, and 3 activities. I took the class fully online last spring, '22. It was ok, a pretty easy A just be careful of T/F questions on the test. They are very "are" "is allowed" "is not", specific.
Quiz every week and two assignments the whole class. One group project worth more than the three exams. Not a bad class. Did not study one time and will end with an A. The questions are worded weird during exams so watch out for that.
Take Nutrition 300 online, if you need it for the culture credit. It's super straightforward, and you have weekly quizzes (5 questions) all from the powerpoint. There is a textbook, but I don't recommend getting one since you don't need it. Only downside is there is a group project so hopefully you get a group that contributes. A GPA booster!
I really enjoyed this class as it was super interesting to me.I really really dislike group projects as I always get stuck leading them, so that aspect of this class was less than favorable. All the quizzes and tests come straight from the lecture, so pay attention to the slides. Fariha is an amazing TA for this course, use her if you need help!
There's a quiz once a week, with all day to take it. The exams were from 6-7pm on a specific day, but if you had a conflict you could reschedule for the next day. The class was well structured and organized, just kind of boring. Overall it wasn't a bad class, but you couldn't email the professor, you had to go through a TA first.
This class is an easy A! The weekly quizzes he gives are word for word what is in the slideshow. Not only was this class easy, but it was also very interesting. This class consists of 3 exams, weekly quizzes, and a group project closer to the end. If you are looking for a sign to take this class, THIS IS IT! Thanks & Gig' Em.
Dr. Riaz is a very respectful professor who has a lot of experience in food science. During lecture he connected the course content to real world situations which made it easy to understand and follow. Your grade does mostly come from weekly canvas quizzes over that week's lectures but they are 5-10 questions and not difficult if you pay attention.
This class is an easy A but also really interesting!! The lectures had a lot of interesting content that I probably wouldn't have learned anywhere else and a majority of the class is based off a quiz each week that is pretty much straight from the slides and three tests that are really easy! Take it if your looking for an easy credit!
Take this class if you want an easy A. There is a lot of work (weekly quizzes and group projects), but getting a good grade in this class is very attainable if you read over the slides before taking quizzes, exams, etc. Just make sure to do well on exams because they can drop your grade a couple of points by just getting three wrong.
took this as an online class and only had one group project. There were slides and videos of the content to look at. I only had one quiz per week and the occasional exam. Quite literally the easiest class to take if you are just looking for hours. I don't think I ever opened the book. The quizzes and exams were not proctored. Quizlet...
You would love to take this class and excellent experience about food diversity.
Easy class- its an easy A. The group projects were fun and easy too. Not too much reading at all, and it's very laid back. The exams are easy too, and the content is nice to learn and relates to the real world.
Should be an easy A. Have one quiz every Wednesday. The quiz questions come straight from the online lextures/slides. Not proctored.. There's one group project, relatively easy as well. The tests are lengthy but you'll be able to figure it out easily.
Relatively easy class just typically a quiz on Wednesday with the occasional test or group project due on Mondays. Great professor and definitely a good class to take for a GPA boost.
online and asynch, very easy A. weekly quizzes and answers can be found directly in lecture slides. exams r okay, not hard but occasionally ask for minor details. textbook is not required and the lecture slides r exactly the same so don't buy it. there is one group project, make a ppt about a day's meals of a cuisine and make a video presentation.
Easy class. Literally everything is on quizlet. For me honestly, I only spent like 10 minutes per week and got A. Thank you Dr. Riaz for providing this class to engineering students who are struggling their ass in major courses!
Easiest class ever. The quizzes come straight off of the notes. There is a short quiz due each week. Group project was kind of annoying. The exams are scheduled for a specific hour. Overall, easy A.
Online class, 3 tests, no cumulative final, and weekly quizzes. One group project that isn't hard if you put in an hour of work each. Nothing was proctored but be an Aggie and don't cheat. He talks slow in lectures so just take notes on slides (he just reads off them). Bad things - communication was unhelpful and grading the project took a month.
Easy A, open note tests
Dr. Riaz really just had his TAs take over majority of the announcements for this class and was more focused on the lecture videos. Weekly quizzes with 3 exams and 1 group project that could be finished in a week.
Easy class and professor as long as you stay on top of the assignments.
Easiest class. Other than one group project, this class took 0 effort. Just remember about a weekly quiz that only appears on your Canvas to-do list the day it's due. 3 easy exams, weekly quizzes, and 3 projects.
Literal cakewalk class. 3 tests (not lockdown), 10 quizzes and a few other easy assignments. Aside from a group project, I worked on this class maybe 45 minutes A WEEK and managed an A+. Deadlines are very strict though so don't miss anything unless you have an excuse.
SO EASY! Weekly quizzes. 3 exams during a specific time/day. Everything is word-for-word from lecture slides and not proctored, but timed. Group project, but just to make a meal plan presentation. Plan ahead of time to call and record. TAs ran the whole class.
EASY! Hardest part is the group project because it has little guidelines/instructions, but they're lax on grading it. Tests come directly from the slides, and there are short weekly quizzes straight from the lecture vids (that just go over the slides), which are easy. All of it is simple and straightforward. I found material interesting!
Super easy class. Based on weekly quizzes, exams, and one group project. The only downside is that exams are only open for one hour, but as long as you keep up with the work it's an easy A.
This class is easy, very few assignments and everything is online. I recommend this class.
NUTR 300 was a super easy class, TAs were communicative with when the tests/quizzes were opening and all other communication. There was one big project that's annoying if you get a bad group (so you might have to step up and do it), but grading was so relaxed and we got a perfect score. Tests/quizzes were straight from the slides/lectures.
Easiest class if taken, just read over the slides and tests should be free, no final, one quiz a week.
