I hated his class. Micah never returned assignments on time (if at all), failed to provide copies (or hand back) quizzes to study from for the tests/exams, non-linear lecture, missed classes, didn't have labs done for class, wasn't in his office on two occassions he was scheduled to be there and when I went to see him for extra help he was marginally helpful. I do not recommend him. He is unorganized and no amount of likability can cancel out his lack of instruction.

Micah is my favorite bio teacher to date. He embraces all learning styles with his teaching and is very open to requests. He made many accommodations for those of us who were visual learners when we asked. He wants you to truly understand the material, so he teaches it in creative ways. The book isn't necessary. He is very passionate and humble.

I took his class a few years ago and I continue to use things he taught me in upper level classes. I'm surprised how many of my peers (at PSU) don't remember things that he really hammered us on. If you want to continue in biology this is a good place to start!

Without thorough reading and detailed note-taking in lecture, you won't stand much of a chance. It's almost impossible to know for sure where you stand in the class because most assignments that you turn in will never be given back. The lab for 212 is much more difficult than the lecture portion.

Best prof I had at PCC, one of the best ever (attended Lehigh U, and USCGA). His lectures are fun and interesting, he obviously is super stoked on biology, which made me stoked on it, too. He won't let you slide though - turn things in on time, study hard, go to office hours, you'll get an A. Try to get by on basic concepts from HS, you'll struggle

I really enjoyed taking his class but can see how it isn't for everyone. No PowerPoint lectures so no notes to follow along with or to access later. His lectures are good but it is up to you to follow along (I recorded lectures so I didn't need to worry about catching every detail the first time). Hard tests but loves bio and helps you love it too!

You will be asked trick Qs and Qs not covered in lecture, but he gives detailed study guides/practice exms so you know exactly what to study. LOVE him

yeah he's funny, but absolutely not a good professor. read the textbook + take notes because lectures are scattered and hard to follow. his exams are way too difficult. definitely does not value the time students are willing to put in. I wouldn't recommend him, even if he's entertaining. not continuing with him.

Micah has an amazing and funny personality that make lectures entertaining, but lectures are disorganized. There are no powerpoints at all, it's just him talking and showing pictures. In a subject like biology it is very difficult to take notes from just verbal instruction. Be prepared to spend hours in the book if your a diligent note taker.

If you actually want to LEARN the material for long-term use and to build off of for future upper-division courses, this is the teacher for you. He is funny and friendly, but his tests ARE HARD! I loved how hard they were because it made sure that I worked to actually UNDERSTAND the material. It will prepare you for those tests like the MCAT.

One of a kind. Excellent lectures, which correspond apples to apples with the text but are much more enjoyable. Highly recommended if you care or want to care about Biology - not recommended if you're a robot looking to get your A's. The material is challenging, the exams are tough but fair, the grading is slow, but I LOVED Micah and this class.

Micah has a very old style of teaching. It did not go well with me. The way in which he teaches biology is not as straightforwards as it could/should be. I had to read the textbook a lot to make sense of things. I think it is a very informational class but I did not like how broad and unclear the learning was.

Micah is AMAZING! I highly encourage you to read the textbook since it brings his lectures full circle. He is funny, clever and really cares about his students actually learning. I struggled hard the first term, but still managed a B. If you do the work and put in the time, he will return it. Encourage use of his office hours, he's very welcoming!

Micah is the best science teacher I've ever had. He's really taken to remote learning and has the best online structure imo. He can take a little while to grade things, but he's super accessible for 1-on-1 questions so just ask if you're not sure on something. He also allows for stuff to be turned in late with no penalty. He's a talker for sure.

Micah is a real gem. I am so glad to have taken his BI211-213 sequence all throughout. He's one of the few professors who's really understanding about personal lives and is constantly looking out for their students. I was able to turn things in late due to some overwhelming times. Overall, he's a great teacher and very communicative. 1000 stars.

Prof.Jordan's quiz questions were a bit tricky, but his purpose was to test your understanding of concepts. He also used pop quizzes during lecture to check understanding - I thought that was brilliant! He was always open to answer clarifying questions during zoom lectures. Do yourself a favor and read the book, take notes, ask questions & you'll be okay. The people who I saw struggling did not read or attend/were late to class/lab.

I had Micah years ago. Although I was never his best student, he ignited my curiosity for biology and life sciences. Now, as a grad student at Georgetown, I find myself applying concepts he taught. His exams are analytical and hard, but trust me, they will prepare you greatly for what's to come next. The course objectives for exam prep were helpful

Micah was a very enjoyable professor. Our lectures were 4 hours in the evening, but he was a very animated lecturor and kept us engaged. He allowed several breaks. Quizzes were all online and open note, besides the Midterm and Final. Textbook is free online, and you have to read in addition to the lectures to do well on tests.

Micah was an awesome BIO 112 teacher. He's very smart, so sometimes I think he forgets to add helpful background information but more than makes up for it by having his lectures available online, both live and recorded for additional studying. Tip: use the weekly quizzes to make midterm/final practice tests to study with.

I enjoyed his lectures. Understanding seemed mixed between students, he can be a tad scattered, I understood him well while others relied more on the textbook. He tells you exactly what you need to get from the class and teaches from that. If we didn't cover something it won't be asked of you. Grades very fairly and takes feedback from the class.
