Very sweet, super polite and really helpful! Was very enthusiastic about Marine Biology and the organisms we were observing in lab. Has absolutely no problem explaining things when asked. Kind of a hard grader though.

Micah is awesome - He is very enthusiastic and happy to be teaching the lab. He's more than happy to explain anything, whether it's material from the class or sorting out grad school. The lab can sometimes be long and the writing difficult, but Micah is a fair grader. If you can take a course with him, do it!

Micah is a great professor! He is there to help you and he wants you to succeed. That is a great quality to have in a prof. He is extremely relatable and easy to talk to so getting help if needed, was easy. The material can be tough but if you are willing to learn it is easy.

Micah taught my ichthyology lab. He is a very good instructor with a strong interest in marine biology. Micah explains everything clearly and is always willing to help students in any way that he can, easy to to talk to. He also adds funny slides to his presentations and always brings candy. I would definitely take this course again with Micah! :)

Micah did an amazing job teaching ichthy lab. He was very knowledgable, patient, and very easy to talk to, which are critical in a lab with very demanding practicals. He made lab enjoyable to be in and was always willing to talk about our futures in marine biology. The lab material is really tough, but having him as a resource made it a lot easier!

Micah is a very clear, and thorough instructor. He is easy to get along with and always seems happy to help you learn or better understand whatever we're studying. You can sense his enthusiasm when he's teaching about fishes. Also, he gave good advice for making this demanding lab more managable.

Micah is awesome. He explains exactly what you need to know for the practicals. He is always there if you have questions. He's hilarious and loves to interact with the students. Also the trips you take in Ichthyology are really fun! Just make sure you study for the practicals because they are tough. But as long as you put the time in you're fine!

Great teacher

I had Micah for Ichthyology Lab, and he's the bomb dot com! There's no way around it, ichthyology lab is VERY tough, but Micah makes it very clear to you that he's always there to help and makes sure to remind you of what material to know and how to know it. Awesome, upbeat dude and best TA I've had by far.

Took my first year seminar UNI 101 with Micah and had a great time. We had a concentration in waterway's and he was able to incorporate a large amount of material related to that subject within the class. He also gave a lot of tips and advice on some do's and don'ts in college, which is really what UNI is about. Really cool teacher!

Micah was a great lab instructor. He was very helpful with understanding the material and he always had a friendly, positive attitude. Ichthyology lab is, however, very difficult. Your only grades come from three lab practicals that are very tough and require a lot of outside preperation so make sure that you set plenty of time aside for it.

Micah Marty is one of the best professors at UNCW, he makes every undergrad feel like they have a PhD and that they are able to "science" with the best of them. I would take any course/job/lunch/lecture that he participated in.

Great teacher. Had him for Uni 101 (mandatory) the class itself is soooo boring but he tries his best to keep it interesting and keep you involved. All homework are assignments are easy and he still gave my group a 100 on the final project even though one of our members didn't show. Take him for a more than bearable uni class!

Micha was really devoted to helping his students learn and engaging them in the lecture to broaden their minds and expand their horizons.

He takes forever (months) to grade things and never emails back. Doesn't follow the syllabus, attendance is mandatory. He is very enthusiastic and tries to be as hands on as possible. UNI 101 was required to do things outside of class and then he would cancel the following class which was cool. Forces you to talk in class often, not so cool.

The work you do is a little much but it's nothing you can't handle. He likes discussions about readings. So, do the readings and make sure you participate in the discussions. He would sometimes let us do fun stuff like walk in the trails around campus for one class, and go to Fort Fisher Aquarium as a class one weekend. He's a really nice guy.

He was a great professor, there was a lot of readings which wasn't fun and the end essay about killed me but he was a great guy always wanting the best for his students.

This class covers all the UNI course requirements. It's not that hard, mostly based on participation points. There is 1 project and 1 essay over the course of the semester.

Compared to what my roommate says about her UNI teacher, Micah Marty is the best.

He is a very good professor and cares very much about the students. Though, he has a tendency to have you reflect and discuss almost everything that is done for class.

This is a great lab professor. He is very passionate about what he teaches and explains everything clearly. Quizzes are a litttle harder than other lab sections tho so prepare for them.

This lab is very hard, and the practicals and quizzes are really difficult, but I enjoyed having Micah as a prof. He is always willing to answer questions (and you should ask questions!) and he makes it clear that helping you understand the course material is his number 1 priority.

Micah is super caring, and will go out of his way to make sure you do well in his class. Best thing about him is that he is excited about the material he is teaching (while knowing that not everyone finds it as exciting); he does his best to make sure each lab is enjoyable for his students.

Micah is a great lecturer and quite knowledgeable on the material. He is very approachable and engaging. The labs themselves are quite enjoyable. After talking with other students in different lab sections, Micah's quizzes and practicals are some of the hardest. You will need to study A LOT to do well; however, he runs a great overall lab section.

This professor is very detail oriented when it comes to his practicals and quizzes, but he does care about his students. He always ensures that he has your best interest in mind and that he is there to help you understand the material.

Going to this class was the best break from my other classes I could hope for. The class was interactive the whole time, but it wasn't hard to talk. I found that the discussions we had about life in college helped me and I took things from this class that really improved the way I do some things. Micah really cared about everyone in the class.

Mr. Marty is such a great teacher. I would take him if you can, for sure.

Micah is the best Uni teacher you could get. Talking to people in other people's Uni classes made it obvious that Micah was the professor you want. He makes Uni way more enjoyable than the other professors and is someone who genuinely cares about his students and will do his best to help them succeed.

Micah wants everyone to participate and is totally fine with awkward silence so someone feels pressured to talk. You have to participate if you want a good grade, but there are more than enough opportunities. Micah is also really good a creating an inclusive environment and making shy people feel comfortable with talking to the class as well.

This was defiantly one of my most memorable classes. Micah is very personable and takes the time to get to know each of his students. Most of the class is discussion based, and we were mainly graded on our participation during the given discussion. Make sure to show up to class, if you miss a certain amount of classes, your grade will be lowered.

Micah is really nice and caring and doesn't give a lot of work. He's really cool and laid back and just wants to help your first semester in college go well. Also he wants you to connect with the people in your class and have you all be comfortable together so you play a lot of name games and talk about pretty personal stuff through the semester.

I really appreciate that we talk about more than what's written in a reading. Micah really wants to get to know us as people and the best way I believe to do that is to allow your students to speak, no filter.

He was my favorite professor all semester and really made me want to come to this class that was not that interesting. He really connected to each student and scheduled fun outside activities that were optional for us to attend. I really enjoyed having him as my professor for this class and I really hope to take more of his classes later on.

Every freshman has to take UNI and I couldn't imagine having to take UNI with any other professor. Micah taught the Marine Biology UNI class, so everyone in mine had the same major, and it was a pretty fun and entertaining class. Micah was extremely helpful and a really cool, laid back guy which made the class exciting to go to.

Micah made class more open and comfortable by arranging activities so we can interact with our classmates and be comfortable talking about various topics.

I had to take this uni class but I'm really glad that I had Micah, a lot of other uni classes had tons of assignments and projects but I felt comfortable and excited to come to class. The discussions were interesting and engaging, I would definitely take any other classes taught by Micah.

I highly recommend Micah as a teacher. He is definitely worth taking for any student, but if you are in Marine Bio I would recommend it even more. Micah puts in the effort to make sure that you are ready for life at college. He is great to talk through anything; either individually or as a group. We also went to the aquarium, and that was dope!

I had Micha for my freshamn UNI class and he is a great professor. He is really understanding and also really helpful with other things going on outside of the classroom.

I had him for UNI, he is very understanding when it comes to getting work done especially if it overlaps with other classes. He has by far the best and easiest UNI class to juggle as a fall semester freshman. All we had to do was keep a journal and do periodic surveys. I would take one of his other classes again.

I heard a lot of my friends complaining about how many essays they had to do for their uni class and how they hated going to uni. In this class we had large discussions about topics we had to read for homework. It was easy to become involved because everyone in the class participated. Micah creates a fun a laid back atmosphere in the classroom.

I highly recommend Micah as a uni professor. He is laid back, very understanding, and he makes class enjoyable. We spent more time talking about real issues freshman face rather than just reading the book, which was helpful.

This is the easiest uni professor. You have no papers, no work outside of class except for maybe 1-2 journals. It is so easy. Other uni classes have papers due almost every week. I have never had to do a paper in this class.

TAKE MICAH!!! He makes learning super fun and easy and his laid back attitude makes it seem less like a classroom and more like a discussion between friends. You won't have to stress too much with him and he makes the class FUN! I wish I could take him every year from now on, he's my favorite professor I've ever had.

Micah is my favorite lab instructor thus far at UNCW and I am a junior. He is so much fun and makes genetics more enjoyable. Some things were confusing to learn and teach but students worked with him and he is very understandable! I suggest taking him!!! He makes genetics lab so much fun and worth the time!!

This class overall wasnt very difficult, but you must attend the lab! He turned negative circumstances into a positive experience, I would highly recommend taking him as an instructor!
