has little man's syndrome and takes it out on the class. Easiest math class I've ever taken, but only take it if you can put up with the arrogant teacher.
nice and easy teacher!!! I would recommend him
Extremely helpful! He gives pre-test worksheets that show exactly what is on the upcoming test. He gives homework every night thats worth 4 pts per an assignment. Its usually all the odds in the section and helps with any questions during class and in office. We highly reccomend him, bro has math90.
not helpful at all. he doesnt teach... he just has you do the hw and answers questions. even then everyone still seems confused. i do not recommend!
He's not the best instructor, but he's definately not the worst. Fairly easy class to pass....exams are very much identical to the study guide.
TERRIBLE!!!! too arrogant!
this guy is a complete jerk!!! I could go on and on about this teacher, but I would be on this computer forever!
EASY A+ i thought he was actually pretty cool, just a dumb sense of humor. didnt demand hw, went over it next day so you didnt have to do it. pre-tests were exact same as real test. hightly recomend
He was an alright teacher. Gave examples of exams, which was very helpful. SOmetimes hard to understand but really an ok teacher.

He's not a very good instructor.....really strict on grading everything and doesnt teach the material well at all, then just moves on to the next section even tho noone in the class understood anything........my advice is pick another teacher
THis teacher was such a jerkthat I didnt even try to get a good grade after like the fourth week. He was not helpful at all and didnt explain anything. THe fact is I ended up taking this class again because I knew I could pass it and I did with a b+ without that worthles guy!
clearly states everything in what we can understand.
He is very strict on grading but his homework schedule is easy. He does go over things and explains them to you. But he teaches on a new section every day.
very strict grading and after a while he gets annoying. Its hard to look forward to his class.
he can be strick and sometimesa bit harsh on students, but I rather have a teacher that cares for about hia job than someone who dosen't. If you want to see a smle evry mornig and sthusiastic teacher I truely recomend this teacher!
He made us turn in homework, which was weird but really cool because that is extra points. He is very clear in his explanation. A GREAT math teacher.
Strict but an all around nice guy. He is good at explaining if you ask for help and there is a lot of homework to prepare you for tests. If you work hard and pay attention, you will really enjoy his class.
Good instructor but the way he grades in no way reflects what you know in the class. It's easy material but is impossible to get an A the way he grades.
This guy's not a very good instructor. He doesn't teach stuff very well, and he doesn't even care whether or not students are ready to move on. If he's ready, he moves on and leaves the class in the dust. He doesn't care if we learn. My advice: pick another teacher
pretty strict teacher, but really helpful after class. doing the hw and showing work on tests are key
Basically, DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH THIS TEACHER! He is really lame and cocky. Very hard and was unclear. Advice: choose someone else, do yourself a favor!
Great teacher, very clear and helpful.
He is an awesome teacher... he goes through the details really well and is really nice about ppl not being able to show up or make it to class. the hw is due online and there is no way to not get 100% on hw. he gives a study guide b4 tests. really helpful
He was a pretty good teacher. Gives a lot of extra credit and lets you drop some bad tests. If I had to take another math class, I would take his.
Very nerdy, not very nice.
So, heres the thing, alot of the work is graphing caculator work, where you dont really understand why things happen the way they do, also most higher college calc classes dont use anything other that a basic calculator for logs and stuff, does not prepare you for higher classes if you intend on moving up.
he is such a geek, and has a great collection of goofy math t-shirts. good teacher, who really knows his stuff. and willing to help if you get lost. the only thing that bothered me about his class was his tone of voice made you feel like he was teaching a kindergarten class.
Great instructor! Makes time in class to allow for students questions. Really wants his students to do well in math. If you show up and study no reason not to get an A in class.
Mr Smith is so cool! I loved him he made math comphrensible! I stink at math and he made it easier for me! I took him over summer and my only complaint is that the test determined your grade to much for example 20 pt questions on test! Over all I enjoyed his happy atttitude and his brilliant teaching skills! I would take him again he is awesome!

I think professor Adams is an excellent teacher I would recommend him to any one. He explains the material well.
Helpful when you ask, even if you have a question on old material. Makes your questions feel important even if you feel they are easy questions. I highly recomend
Very good teacher i recommend him
Nice guy, unfortunately not a good teacher. I think that any teacher who believes his whole class can fail and its not his fault needs to reexamine his teaching style. Fyi-if your whole class is failing its probably because you as a teacher are doing something wrong. If your going to take him beware: he will let everyone fail!
Definetly a tough class, though an A is possible if you do all the HW and come prepared for the tests. The best part about the class was the pre-test that he gave us, he practically wrote the tests after them. Study hard for the FINAL!!!
Mr. Adams knows his Math! However his teaching is definitly not the best in the math department, he goes really really fast and sometimes when you ask questions he will make you feel stupid for asking, "what do you mean how did I get that answer", he does make it clear what is going to be on test...I would give Mr Adams 6 out of 10.
He is a great teacher. very very helpful teacher. If you want to pass his class with A then pay real attention to his lecture. exam is not very hard and he review all the problems.
Great teacher! Explains material well and helps with questions. Everyday he gives 30 min to answer questions and he gives a review sheet before all tests and the review sheet is the same as the test!! Very good teacher. Just go everyday and keep up with the work.
TEsts goes off topic but good to take if you are planning to spend the whole semester on his class!..not a very good idea to take it if your planning to kick back. HArdest math class...I Prefer anyone to be better off taking other 100 maths or at least taken cal 1-4 because there is a pt where no one knows what the heck your doing!!!!!
AWESOME TEACHER. Takes time to answer questions, explains everything in clear language, even for those of us who do not do well in math. He is easy going and funny. TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU CAN!
Seems like a nice enough guy, but I'm having a hard time with his class. I've always been an A student in math. We have about ten people now (3 weeks left) and most of them are just hoping to pass. He doesn't seem to care at all. His lectures are not helpful, although his answers to specific questions are. I have to figure most of it out myself.
ok so ive taken math with 4 diff prof and hes the best one....for the first time im passing math with a B!!! take him hes awesome
Good teacher. Class is EXTREMELY, although he does not require attendance GO TO CLASS, his lectures are useful and very clear and he is willing to help a student understand anything in the class. Homework is done online and is med. difficulty. Good teacher highly recommend for math!!!
Good teacher. Class is EXTREMELY hard, although he does not require attendance GO TO CLASS, his lectures are useful and very clear and he is willing to help a student understand anything in the class. Homework is done online and is med. difficulty. Good teacher highly recommend for math!!!
this guy was ok. the homework is online. he uses a website, and the homework isnt due until the test date. the final was only 25 problems.
This teacher is the best that i have had in math! He teaches really well, his lectures are clear and understanding he answers all questions during class especially with homework. His class is hard if you are taking Pre-Cal. I thought the class was hard because it's Pre-Cal, but this teacher will make you like it even more (if you hated it)
adams is ok. he teaches well but shows you the wrong way to do things first. he's helpful in that he will help you on the hw and the hw load isnt too bad. kind of hard in that he tricks you on his tests. he likes to be right and he's very annoyingly arrogant..im an A student and i had to work to keep that A
MATH 111 with Adams is a challenging class, and you definitely have to work to get a good grade. Attendance isn't mandatory, but come to class or you'll probably fall behind. Adams is fairly thorough and will answer any questions you ask. Overall he is a good professor and is very helpful, but don't expect this class to be an easy A!!
Prof. Adams is a fantastic teacher.
This is a difficult course, but if you stay on top of the homework, you'll do well. His lectures are pretty good, and if you have questions he'll answers them. I like the class structure and I thought the tests were fair. He gives review sheets before the tests which a really helpful. If you can work hard and you want to learn something, take this!
I found him strange in character, but loved the way the class was structured. He gives study guides for each exam that are nearly identical to what you will see on the exam. In the end, you choose your own combination of homework, exams, and projects to be graded on. Attendance not mandatory, but it definitely reflects on your grade.
This instructor assigns a ton of work, its more work than the 5 unit math class i took last semester. He is very arrogent. He is a tough grader. I would not recommend him to any other student and i will not take him again, ever.
He assigns way to much homework for the amount of material we need to learn by the exam. His review guides are helpful and makes doing the HW useless. Makes us do group projects, but doesn't put time aside for class to get to know each other so its not awkward asking to work with each other. Very hard class.
Good teacher, not a very nice guy. No exceptions to his rules. Must be there on time to turn in homework, which there is too much of. But he lets you choose what you're graded on. good thing because he was such a tough grader. Okay class.
Excellent teacher! tough class but lets be honest if youre taking 121 chances are you need to do well in upper math classes. Hell teach you what you need to pass. There is a lot of homework, but it helps a lot. We had quizzes everyday but theyre just for fun and to see how he grades. Overall this guy is a great teacher if you majoring math related
Kind professor. A bit on a power trip at times. Hmwk was easy and he is always willing to help. Asks "brain twister" type math logic questions on his exams that have nothing to do with elementary math. Would take him again, however he is condescending.
He's very nice and promotes asking questions. He explains things so well that I didn't even have purchase a textbook. His study guides are very close to the actual test, so if you go to the test review days you will pass.
I don't see how anyone could fail his class. Great lectures, extremely clear on what he demands from his students. I have nothing bad to say about him. He even lets you chose what you want to count towards your final grade. Probably the best math teacher I ever had.
I do not like his teaching style. He skips over things and then ur mind has to play catch up. Once you finally cath ip he us done with the problem. It would be much easier if he would just do every step. Also in the homework it covers maybe 3-4 problems that he went over in lecture, then it has problems that u basically have to figure out on ur own
Great teacher. He really knows his stuff. always willing to help. He will explain everything. The only draw back is his classes tend to be very hard.
Mr. Adams is a great teacher, probably one of the best I've had at MJC. I am not good at math, by any means, so I have to re-take it, but I am retaking it with this guy. He's super helpful, very patient, and extremely good at explaining things in different ways so that an understanding is established. I highly reccommend Mr. Adams.
Took his finite class where hw is online. The hw was easy since you could view an example problem. 90% of your grade relies on the tests and final. He puts the notes online so you dont really have to show up, but he does go over hw questions if you have any during class. You need to purchase MyMathLab which is free with new book which is cheaper.
Mr. Adams knows his math, unfortunately he lacks at the ability to wrap concepts around students minds. He expects you just understand it. If it wernt for youtube, i'd never passed. A last choice, unfortunately.
horrible. avoid like the plague. Very discouraging teacher. Went to his office hours to ask him help on a problem and he humiliated me telling me if i didn't know how to do it I shouldn't even be in his class. Took the class with Boley and got an A, it was like night and day as far as teaching goes. He's arrogant, impatient, just plain unpleasant.
Do not take his class. His tests are very difficult. I did all my homework, studied hard, ask questions when I did not understand. Every test had problems he did not explain. I am a straight A student and received a D on every test. I only survived the class because of extra credit and a presentation.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. He automatically assumes you know everything about math. He shows you very basic examples in class, then sends you on your way to figure it out on your own. His test reviews are nothing like the actual test you get, and each question on a test is 10-15 pts, so if you miss a few, you're already doomed. Take someone else.
I loved this professor. I took him for math 20 and math 70. He is very very clear on his instructions. I am horrible at math and I loved this prof.!! Tests are about 25 questions. Homework done all online.
Mr Adams is a great Teacher! It would be really hard to not pass his class because he goes over the homework from the night before every day and he always answers students questions! I would definitely suggest to anyone needing to take a Math class to take Mr Adams!
Outstanding Professor! He gives thorough instruction with ample question opportunity every class, yet still offers challenge along with ease of learning course material!
Mr. Adam's is a classic college professor. If you want to be successful in his class you must read your book the night before each lecture and ask MANy questions. He has ALWAYS been more than welcoming when I've bothered him during office hours EVERY DAY. He will prepare you for the university and you will DEFINITELY know more than most students!
Mr. Adams really is a classic professor. He is very helpful, he gives daily quizzes, usually 1 problem. Starts class right on time! It is important that you show up to class, as you may fall behind because of the new material taught daily. Gives about 3-4 days to complete online homework.
Prof. Adams was great! His teaching style is very easy to understand and if you don't, he will answer all questions thoroughly. He is on time & has plenty of office hours. He quizzed us each class, but typically one or two questions. Homework was online & each test had a review. Best math teacher ever!
Good professor, he's very clear and very patient with students. You don't need the book, but you do need the access code which screws you over in getting a used book. About 90 dollars up front just for that, but it comes with an online version of the book. Math isn't easy, but that's what makes it so rewarding. Keep up with the pace of the class.
Professor Adams was nice but is teaching does not make sense. He spends the first 30mins of class going over questions. WE have a quiz every class, and only get like 10mins for lecture. He doesn't go over material well until the day before exam. Just an odd teaching method, it was hard to follow.
He's not a bad teacher, but his lectures aren't really related to the homework - whatsoever - making attendance not really important other than "participation points" that might net you some points at the end of the semester. Don't put emphasis on his review sheets, it's almost totally irrelevant to the exam, study lecture notes.
Not a good teacher. When I went to his office and asked for help, he practically told me that I should do it on my own and I wasn't ready for MATH 122. It wasn't any better in classroom. He only went over some of stuff that was on homework and rest we had to figure out on our own. He would go over things on homework next class period.
Not a good teacher. Very conceited. Problems on tests are worth 20 points each and he dose not grade the same for everyone. Don't go to his office for help because he talks down to students.
Professor Adams uses a 1000 point grading nightmare. 200 points per test (there are 3) 300 points for the Final Exam, and only 100 points for homework. Many times I spent more than six hours on homework. I thought math 89 was supposed to be a little less aggressive. Despite tutoring and meeting with him during office hours, he still gave me an F.
He is a very nice person BUT not so much a great teacher. He assumes everyone can thinklearn the way he does. Papers in his class are graded like English papers, he does not focus on the actual material. He gives review sheets BUT it is so different from the test. I have NEVER failed a test before this class.
As a person, he's great. Terrible teacher though. Homework is barely related to what he taught in lecture. The review sheets for the test are sometimes the first time a subject is introduced. Expects you to learnteach the way he does. Makes you feel stupid if you do not understand.
Professor Adams is a GREAT professor! I never enjoyed math until i took it with him. Adams is passionate about his job. He wants you to pass. If you have a question, he answers it clearly. He is a funny man. I did not skip class at all. If you pay attention during class, do your homework, and study, you will pass the class. Good luck everyone!
Professor Adams understands that some of us are visual while others auditory learners. All his lectures are posted same day so you can look back at them. If you do the homework and actually ask questions, you will do great! He is very patient to people with lots of questions.
I highly recommend taking a Math class with Prof. Adams. He is extremely helpful answering questions before, during, and after class, and meeting during office hours. His lectures are easy to follow AND they cover exactly what is on his tests, so show up to class! He gives review sheetsreview sessions before tests which is extremely helpful.
Professor Adams is easily the best professor I've ever had for any subject. The reason he is such a good professor is because he never condescends to you. He is willing to empathize and understand if you don't remember something from a previous class. You can ask him a question about anything at almost any time; even questions from other classes.
Absolutely despise algebra but on my first test I got a perfect score 200/200 and the second test 196/200. Not trying to toot my own horn but he explains every chapter with great clarity that someone who doesn't enjoy math can pass because of his great teaching methods.
He's a nice guy and has good intentions but is a horrible teacher. I kid you not I learned mostly everything from "show me an example" and "help me solve this" on math lab. He expects to already know things and is very very vague in his lessons.
He's a nice person but an awful teacher. I had to learn everything on my own or through a tutor. His lectures were vague and when a brave soul would ask a question they were answered very quickly as if they should already know the answer. I would have rather taken Calculus with anyone than him. He made things harder than they needed to be.
Professor Adams is easily the best math professor at MJC. He's caring, available, and takes the time to make sure you understand what he is teaching. The tests are intimidating but he does his best to give you the best grade he can. (Ex: you can receive 20 out of 30 on a test if you get structure of problem correct but answer wrong) he is awesome
Professor Adams answers any questions that you have before or after class. The lectures were not hard to follow and the homework was all online. Tests were challenging, so studying is key. Very funny man and great person, but his class can be a bit frustrating.
I took this course fall semester. The tests were unrelated to the homework. Went to office hours and was not able to pass. This professor is super clever. Beware of tests.
Incredibly difficult. His main goal is to make the course as difficult as possible. Obvious he is a tenured professor. Loves to give failing grades without remorse. Failed more than half of his class. Tests are made to be unfinished. He counts down to turn in test, if test is not in he will not receive it.
Professor is incredibly rude. Usually can't give a definite answer on a homework problem. His tests are made so that you can not finish. Will give a review sheet, but still in vain. I feel bad for whoever takes this class. Guaranteed fail
Currently in this course. I am regretting it. There are only three tests that are worth tons and a final. There is homework but it is not much in points. The first test was not passed by anyone. I should have listened to my friend who took him last semester. Don't take this course if you plan to transfer and rely on this course
In order to take the exams you have to passed a quiz 8/10. The quizzes are not hard. However, the exams are ridiculous. They are long and puts stuff he didn't even taught. I am currently taking this class and got a D on both of exams. He sucks at grading. Please do not take him. I been trying so hard and still not passing his class.
Grades things extremely harshly, only lectures for 15-20% of class time, class averages of D's and F's on exams. He likes theory and not practical applications of things. He relies of questions to "teach". So if you are a vocal student, you may like his teaching style. I ended up dropping because getting a C wasn't acceptable for how much i studied
The homework doesn't even remotely prepare you for the tests, nor do the "review" sheets he offers (without any solutions, or answers) help prepare for the tests at all. I've never worked harder for a class than I have this one, and I have failed or near failed every test so far despite succeeding on the homework without much problems.
He is a tough grader. Homework does not help you what so ever on the exams. The exams themselves are ridiculously hard and is very rude when it comes to grading. lectures for about 20 minutes and answers lots of questions. Expects you to know something that he thinks is simple.
This teacher is the absolute worst one I have ever had. He teaches easy examples in class and slams you with the most difficult stuff on the tests with out preparing you for solving them. His test reviews almost never actually relate to the tests questions. He makes up his own math formulas. This was designed to fail me from the start.
Professor Adams is a really good teacher. Every lesson requires you to do about 5-10 questions online. His notes are very clear and he teaches the subject very well. His review sheets are very detailed about what is going to be on the test. The tests are hard, so study for about two to three hours each test. If you put the work in, you can pass.
Gives tons of online homework with little impact on your grade and spends lecture time reviewing homework. In other words this is a self taught class and if you skipped class except for test, you could still get an A. Hands down the worst Professor I have ever taken and recommend to avoid him at all cost.
He treats his students like they are stupid if they ask for help or clarification. I do not learn anything in his lectures because he does all of the work and assumes we understand what he is doing and he only spends about 15 minutes going over new material. Lots of online homework. He tests you on information he didn't cover. *thumbs down*
Adams is the worst math Professor I've ever experienced here at MJC. I started at math 70 and worked my way though 161 and received all A's thus far. They were not easy classes, but I worked hard and knew what was expected! It seems hard work in Adam's class get's you nowhere. His homework and reviews do not prepare you for the tests! AVOID !
Worst Prof. at MJC hands down.
Prof. Adams is an excellent math instructor and seems to enjoy his work. Some of the mymathlab hw questions are tough/unexpected, so write them down and ASK to do them in class the next day. Pay attention, and ask questions instead of memorizing. It will help you in the long run. Finish reviews early. His reviews are almost identical to his tests.
Homework is easy but has nothing to do with the tests and the tests are your entire grade. No reasoning behind test grades. Completely subjective and it is a math class. Short lectures that only answer homework questions which have nothing to do with the tests. You can have an A going into final and get a D or F in the class. Avoid at all costs.
By far the toughest class I've taken. Barely passed with a C, which is the only C on my transcripts. Brought my GPA down to 3.72 from 3.81. Tests dicate your grade, homework is only 10% but there is so much of it every week, and it doesn't help on tests AT ALL. Majority of class is going over homework and actual material is left unclear sometimes.
Homework has basically no impact on your grade - worth 10%. The final is worth 30%, which is fairly normal. However, the three in class tests are worth the other 60% of your grade - and each is only 10 questions. He talks down to his students and has awful lectures. Retook it this summer with a different professor and got a 99%
Professor Adams is an excellent instructor. He does a great job explaining and wants to help students succeed. He is a hard grader, but if you study and do the homework, then you should be fine. To receive an A you'll have to put in effort.
Your grade for this class is based entirely on tests wherein the tests are completely different from what has been discussed in his very short lectures, which are only every about the homework, and the homework is only worth 10% of the grade. Please do not take this class, it sets you up for failure.
Adams is very good at teaching and making sure student understand content. If you need help with homework he uses the first half of class to answer questions, so make use of that time. My biggest complaint is that he grades test WAY too harshly. Be prepared to average a high C to low B on tests even if youve taken the class before, like me.
Worst teacher ever! I wouldnt recommend this teacher to my worst enemy! Save yourself and take this class at a four year instead of here! He doesnt care about his students and doesnt try to help them if you are struggling! I never thought a teacher would be this bad! Beware!
Mike Adamsis the worst teacher like I took this course already in high school and passed but failed because of his terrible grading please drop his class or if you choose to take it, then good luck
The homework does not prepare you for exams. Most of the class time is spent going over homework. The feedback on tests are awful and sometimes makes you feel stupid. Almost the whole grade is tests, and even if you prepare thoroughly with the review sheet, there's going to be questions on the exam that you've never seen before. The worst.
He didnt post my final transcript grade(D) until the first day of summer semester and completely ruined my registration. I couldnt register to retake the class. Sure I should pass classes regardless but I will never forget the professor that ruined an entire semester for me because of a late grade post.
Adams is a really smart guy because he has been doing this for a long time, however, his teaching methods are sus. He speeds through the entire lecture doing the vaguest examples imaginable and the homework looks nothing close to what you learned in class. The tests are the hardest thing you could ever imagine and are nothing like you ever learned
Worst Professor that I have had at MJC so far. Homework is pointless and the the Tests are basically worth your entire grade. He makes everyone feel dumb when he is giving lessons and is rude when you ask for help. I dont suggest this guy to ANYONE. Not even sure how people enjoy this class.
Good at math but terrible at teaching it. Week before the class starts he assigns you review hw and gives you a 200 point exam within a week. His video lectures are from 4+ years ago, so none of the hw materials coincide. Its like he tries to keep making the exams harder each time. Seriously just look elsewhere,I thought Id give home a chance too
Kind in person but devilish behind a computer. Doesn't have any bit of leniency for normal day to day items such as work and family life. If there's a problem, expect to be on your own. His "lessons" don't match the homework, and trying to study for tests are absolutely impossible. We are here to learn and should be helped not ridiculed.
Homework assignments don't prepare you for exams. Exams are way too heavy on your grade so even if you get 100% on all assignments, good luck if you're an anxious test taker. I'm technically in two classes, the second is supposed to aid with 101 but that extra time is spent on worksheets done with classmates which really aren't helpful.
Prof Adams is the worst teacher I have ever seen in MJC. I won't even call him a prof because he isn't doing anything for his students and he is very strict in grading. Throughout the semester I learned nothing but just watching his three years old videos which are useless. If you don't want to waste your future and time please find someone else.
The worst teacher I have ever seen in MJC. He isn't doing anything for his students and he is very strict in grading. He never offers help for students and his test are very hard. People might think I am giving him a bad rating because he failed me, no that's not true, I mean look at his rating or take a class with him then you will find out.
Terrible Terrible teacher. There are 5 exams, each one worth 200 points, and the final exam is 30 % of the total grade. His video lectures are from 4+ years ago and they are all useless. It's like he tries to keep making the exams harder each time. He is very rude and makes you feel dumb. Homework is 10% which won't help with passing the class.
Homework assignments don't prepare you for exams. Exams are way too heavy on your grade so even if you get 100% on all assignments, good luck if you're an anxious test taker. He wasted our whole semester just by watching his videos from 3 years ago, which don't even prepare you for the test. He is very rude and strict. I would never recommend him
Patient professor and takes the time to explain until you get it. Wish he taught other classes that I need.
Nice guy, rough teacher. Tests are 60% of your grade, there's four of them with lowest score being dropped. Study guides follow same format as tests, but tests are ten times harder. My friends and I had As in AP Calc, which covers more stuff, got A's, and are struggling in this class. This class destroyed my soul and shattered my self-confidence.
I took precalculus in high school and got an A, but this class has completely crushed me. The tests are so difficult and barely adhere to the section we studied. Expect nearly every question to have a catch that wasn't part of the material. After reading these reviews, I felt a huge relief because I thought I was the only one who felt this way.
The beginning of the class is very hard but you start to get used to it and the class gets easier. Professor Adams lectures are a must as he goes over any question you ask him to do. The tests are hard but if you prepare you should be good. I got failing grades on my tests but I actually spent a week preparing for the final and got a 95.
Adams is a good professor, yo just need to know his way. He spends 70% of class time answering homework questions and the rest for his lecture. Good grade tests=good class score He's funny in his own way, but he should teach lower levels of math cuz he explains it in the simplest possible terms, as if you knew nothing at all about math,Nice guy tho
The worst math teacher you can ever have.
he goes over the hw questions in class BUT he assigns a lot of hw and its only worth 10% of your grade. Tests make up 90% of your grade .Tests are 10 questions/200 points. The homework doesn't prepare you for the tests Even if you get 100% on ALL of hw, you could still not pass. If you aren't good at tests I don't recommend this class at all.
Prof. Adams is a brilliant professor, though he gets a bad rep. People complain about the exams, but all you have to do is practice the "Review Sheet". The HW is online and he goes over it in class. He will never hesitate to help in office hours. The class content is by no means easy, but if you actually put in the time, you will succeed.
PLEASE if you are not a good test taker, consider a different teacher. The tests are what make up almost your whole grade. Even if you do all the homework with full credit, there is still huge chance to fail. Show up to class, listen, write notes a LOT of notes. You WILL feel overwhelmed. Overall as a teacher he is okay, he listens & tries to help.
I took Precalc in high school and did fine, but struggled in this class. He once took off points on a test bc I did a little work to double check my mental math. The study guides never helped get me ready for the tests and the homework didn't really match with his lectures. He went really fast during his lectures. Made me cry bc it was frustrating
A complete hardass, but cannot help but respect his teaching style, as it feels like the real world. You will find out if you are actually good at math test-taking or not with him. Do not fall behind, have HW Qs ready for him everyday, and expect tests to be trickier than review sheets (office hours highly recommended). Practice... A LOT!
Took him for math 101, he is a really great teacher and cares about his job. Math is not my subject at all, i worked really hard and he acknowledged that i was trying, which is great. I tried getting an A but i couldn't remember all the formulas. Overall, a great teacher
Mr. Adams' style of teaching is superb. He's articulate and enjoys teaching math. There might be times where students feel a little uncomfortable because of his attitude I guess, but if you're in it to learn some math then he's awesome. Don't fall behind on homework and be active in class. Study the review sheets well and you should be fine.
If you want to pass the class don't take this class
A great professor, his class does heavily rely on homework to teach, so while doing homework theres definitely times you won't understand it, but since his lectures focus on going over homework thats fine and he expects it. I find that he's extremely patient with students. Review sheets were also extremely relevant and tests came with no surprises.
The test review does NOT prepare you for the tests. He likes to give tricky questions on the test that he has never taught us before. I learn nothing from his lectures, and he likes to end early often. I will be spending the rest of the semester relying on youtube instructors to "hopefully" save my grade.
Take this professor for calculus if you want to get an A.
In my experience, he is not good at lecturing and likes to end early. Gives sarcastic responses when I come to him for help. His reviews are fake, I am certain. A perfect review pops up as soon as there is a bad one, just does not seem honest to me.
Took him last year in the Spring but after having some more math professors, I realized he really does care about teaching math and I did not appreciate that when I was in his class. If you want someone who really knows what they are talking about when it comes to math, Michael is probably the best you'll get at MJC.
Professor Adams is very knowledgeable about all of the concepts he teaches. Be prepared for several curveballs on tests that require you to critically think about the material. This class is not an easy A. 30% of your grade is the final and 3 tests make up 60% of your final grade. You need to study the textbook thoroughly and ask questions!
Professor Adams class was extremely difficult for me. However, he did a great job of tutoring me and catching me up to speed almost every day after class. He was very clear and precise while explaining to me and helped me wherever I needed it. I will say though, the hw website that he uses is very confusing and it is best to get help from directly
Gives too many sarcastic remarks when you ask for help. If you take a scroll, his reviews are likely fake. He writes positive reviews for every negative one. Dude has little man's syndrome and takes it out on the class.
I don't understand all the negative reviews on here, the homework is online and the best way to study is to just go through and reattempt the problems you struggled with in the past, as shown by the amount tried number. If the material is still difficult, his office hours are easy to attend and he is always MORE than willing to help.
His positive reviews are FAKE, people have been complaining about the SAME THINGS since the 1990s.
He told one of his friends that he gives him positive reviews so people take his class, this dude has little man syndrome for sure!!!
The lectures can be hit or miss, but using resources like unstuck ai and YouTube helped me stay on top of the material. Attendance is mandatory, but the professor's sarcasm can make it tough. Overall, a challenging but manageable class if you're willing to put in the work.
I took this class 5+ years ago. And thought to myself this guy definitely should be fired by now. After failing his class I went on to a 4 year to learn that this man was the worst professor I have ever had. He is a narcissist and has little to no regards for his students. I'd advise you avoid this professor at all costs.
He's super smart, but not so good at teaching so that it's comprehensive for students. Had him for trig, pretty sure the majority of the class either failed or dropped. The tests were very hard, and I did not feel that the assigned homework had helped.
I took this professor for Calculus 1 as well and he runs the class very similarly, for lectures he gives a brief 20-30 minute rundown of the material and expects you to learn and struggle with it yourself. The next day he goes over the homework on said topic and answers questions in great detail. Exams are heavily based on the review sheet he gives
The exams were difficult, but he provided review sheets that outlined them well. His office hours were right after class, too, and he was more than willing to help when available. He is definitely passionate about math, and that made the class enjoyable.
Lots and lots of homework just to be worth 10% of your grade. Study guide has the most basic examples, and then the exam has the hardest possible questions. Not fair
Just trust me on this: All the positive reviews that you see here are given by him. He gives himself positive reviews. He's the worst math teacher I have ever had.
Probably the worst math teacher ever, he needs to retire asap.
At first, I liked his class, but I noticed more flaws as the semester went on. He rushed through all of his lectures and graded harshly. Tests are 60% of the grade, and homework is only 10%. He doesn't explain anything well and gives attitude when you ask for help. He also offers no extra credit, so if you fail a test, good luck.
At first, I liked his class, but I noticed more flaws as the semester went on. He doesn't explain anything well and rushes through lectures. Tests are also 60% of the grade and he doesn't offer extra credit so if you fail one or two then you are screwed. When I asked for help, all he did was give attitude and didn't help.
To sum it all up, tests are a BIG part of ur grade, I averaged D's on all of them and barely passed with a C from the final. DONT TAKE unless ur good at math. I recommend finding a study buddy. He goes over content very fast, is SASSY when you ask things. And it was just horrible. Study guides barely help. take anyone else.
Math is hard for many, so I do not understand why instructors here at MJC(especially this one)give sarcastic answers when you ask for help with the material. Like not all of us are math nerds who can get a perfect score so easily. He also gives difficult as sh*t questions on exams which are never anything like the examples he gives during lectures.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this class AT ALL COST.
Tests are worth almost your entire grade in this class, but he gives a lot of materials to review and prepare. His lectures are pretty good and explain the material well. The homework mostly exists as an extra form of practice, and he's always available to help during office hours.
This professor provides very little help and sarcastic and sassy feedback on tests, which to mention are 90% of your grade among 3 of them, so if you fail one, it makes the class infinitely harder. Do not take this class, it's rough and you'd be better off with literally anyone else. I hope MJC takes a look at him and takes action.
Attendance isn't mandatory but it is recommended to be able to keep up with every thing going on in the lectures. At the start of every class he would go over homework problems students had, and during lectures he always made sure to go through it simply so everyone could understand. Its a lot of work but if you stay on top of it you'll be fine.
Avoid this Professor at all costs. He does NOT want students to succeed. Tests are way heavy, he's way less than helpful, and the workload is insane. There's a new assignment every day, some material on tests aren't even taught until the day before the actual test, and the grade drop is insane if you fail. I really hope MJC looks into him.
I guess after seeing all these bad rating and still taking him it's on u. The good ratings are himself. Worst teacher I have ever had…
Test heavy class, if you don't have at least a D or C your barley going to be able to pass. Is condescending when you ask questions on material. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. CHOOSE ANOTHER PROFESSER.
M. Adams will demoralize anyone not pursuing pure mathematics. Lectures are 15 mins long, with an expectation that students master the content on their own. The majority of learning is done by yourself, at home, but attendance is mandatory. Tests are graded under the expectation of widespread cheating. Questions are deemed trivial or disqualifying.
Took him way back when trig was its own course. My brutal honest opinion about him is that he is very smart, it is clear he knows his material, issue is he cannot teach. He lacks the sense of relatability which makes him skim through material while students play catch up. Super test heavy and not related to study guide. Nice guy, but can't teach.
Tests are super heavy and failing one is going to sink your grade. Doesn't give much help and gives sarcastic replies on tests. New homework every single day and test reviews don't help with preparing for the test. Take any other class you can.
Professor Adams is an extremely awful teacher. He does seem to offer help during class, but always gives sarcastic replies to those asking questions. He also puts "?" when grading exams rather than elaborate on how you got something wrong. He doesn't even have manners in and out of class, he has a bad attitude toward his students. Avoid this man!
Please do NOT take this guy's class, he will make sure you fail. The homework is long, his grading is the worst, and he does not teach you anything. Half the class dropped and the other half failed. If you want to teach yourself finite math and take tests meant for professional mathematicians, then this is the class for you! Horrible professor smh
Did not enjoy the class. The homework was difficult and the tests were not based on homework and class work. Professor was not helpful at all.
