good teacher. exams are somewhat confusing..you get to challenge 4 questions. sometimes there are pop attendance checks and class assignments. class was fun though..about half of your grade comes from the group project..so make sure you get a good group.

The worst part about him was his poor choice in TA's and his reliance on them to make their poor decisions. He's one of those professors you can work your butt off for and still earn a C. Avoid him if you can. He taught the class like it was a giant infomercial for his stupid selling program.
I was thinking of a marketing degree until I took this class. It's an entry level class graded like it's a PhD level course. Ahearne allowed the TAs to grade the project and no groups were given an A. After requesting to review the project the TAs threatened to lower our initial grade after looking over our evaluation so we were afraid to check.
Going to class is useless but mandatory. All he talks about is the selling program. Tests are a bit tricky but the project grading is really bad, u can do almost perfect and still won't be given a good grade. I was aiming after the first two tests at an A but the project killed it. seriously he relies way too much on the TAs and the project.
Way overrated class; sales program in self declared number one. Grading scale is really messed up. Group project is difficult and the tests have nothing to do with the lectures. Avoid this teacher if possible. Not worth your time.
Great class - make sure you attend
The Best!!!
Professor Ahearne is a great person, and I believe he teaches well however, his tests are hard. If you take him I suggest you go to the website on the book to get an idea of how his tests are.
Great teacher but his class is not easy. Some students don't get accepted into the selling program and may complain the class is not good.
GREAT PROFESSOR - TAKE THE CLASS
Easy class! He also made it interesting! We technically had 3 test, but the last one was optional. I highly recommend this class!
Nice class. Includes online exercises and 3 tests. Very clear!
Nice class!
Dr. Ahearne is one of the best teachers at Bauer. He knows his material and explains it very well. He has a good sense of humor and his classes are very interactive. He began to give reviews and they are very helpful. Study the material he gives you. Be aware of the key terms in the book and you'll be off to an A+
Great professor. take this class
4 tests and 1 group video project, lowest test is dropped. Attendance is graded. This is your run of the mill go to class and study the slides type of class. If you do that well you are guaranteed an A. Not a hard class if you put in some effort.
His lectures were great, going and paying attention can go a long way in helping you. 4 tests the lowest one is dropped so only three tests really, one group project, and homework assignments. Gave up to 4 points to your overall grade on extra credit. Not getting a good grade would be your fault, not his.
Great class - maybe the best teacher in the business school at UH. The test are not easy but material is clear.
Good class with fair grading but tests are not simple.
Wow an inspirational lecturer. I left every class with more knowledge then before. Dr Ahearne is a true scholar the way he lectures in class is mesmerizing. Not only did I take detailed notes, I found myself unable to take my eyes off of him. Definitely get a front row seat for this professor.
Dr. Ahearne is great! His class pretty much the only one I don't tune out of--he is very intelligent but also great at relating the material to us. Tests are easy. Hybrid class. One big group project. Only complaint is how he takes attendance--no clickers, calls your name out and writes points down on pieces of paper.
Going to class is useless but attendance is part of your grade so you must go. Best 3 out of 4 exams taken and there are "online classes" where you complete your (easy) homework for the day. There is a group video project, just make sure you have a good team. Read the book and look at his powerpoint notes to get an A.
He is a great professor, you have to study his slides and read book definitions in order to do well on the exams. One group video. Drop 1 test out of 4 and he gives extracredit opportunities (1 pt max). His lectures are engaging and he is an approachable person outside of class. Attendance is not mandatory, however, he randomly call out names.
Professor Ahearne is a very sweet person and it was almost impossible to hate his class. However, class was basically pointless to attend but he does take attendance . The exams are not easy so you really have to read if you want a good grade AND MEMORIZE THE KEY TERMS!
4 tests, drops the lowest. In class participation counts for a small chunk of the attendance portion (didn't go,) other than that majority of the attendance points are online work he assigns every Thursday (instead of class.) Group video that takes up a big chunk of your grade (get a group early, the class is huge.) Professor is bomb tho. Take him!
This is a pretty straightforward class which consists of 4 exams 60% (he drops your lowest exam score), in class participation 5%, online MyMarketingLab assignments 15%, and 1 video group project 20%. Make sure that you get a good group and start working on the group project early. Also, beware the online simulations from MyMarketingLab.
Group project is major part of your grade, as are the tests. In class participation is a small percentage. His lectures were literally the slides on BB and the tests you just really have to read and know your definitions and concepts. The test consists of about 5 chapters per exam. Homework was online and was mostly simulation and video questions.
Easy B class but you have to put in effort to get an A.4 non cumulative tests (a bit tricky wording, but lowest dropped), weekly online hw, + a group video project + extra credit. Final test of the semester is taken about 3 weeks before everyone else at UH so this is the first class you'll be done with. He's an overall nice and respectable guy.
I felt honored to be taught by Professor Ahearne. He is a very qualified instructor, and wishes to plant the knowledge of marketing into the minds of his students. I actually changed my minor to marketing during the semester! Tests are straight forward. Do your readings and keep up with the weekly homework assignments.
Ahearne produces entertaining lectures! His class consists of 4 exams, a pretty easy group project, bimonthly quizzes and (urgh) simulations, and mandatory attendance. Make sure to READ your textbook and go to lectures to pass your exams with a high mark, as many did not. 24 hr quiz-simulation deadlines are annoying, but he's a solid choice.
Extremely dry class. Lectures can tend to be on the boring side. Group Project is an easy A, and online homeworks are straightforward. 4 exams, drops the lowest, but the format and question wording on the exams make simple concepts difficult to understand. Do your best to decipher the exam questions and you'll be fine.
Was a solid class for my first semester at Bauer. Tests relied 70% on slides and 30% lectures & reading the online book. There is a somewhat easy group project at the end. You can also earn extra credit for certain attendance days. He is very professional and brings in an occasional guest speaker from a certain firm or company.
This man has given up on being a professor and it 100% shows. The tests make no sense, and I studied ALOT. I am usually and A student and this class is giving me a run for my money. It just sucks because he does not care , he is terrible, that is all.
This class has 3 tests that are based mainly on the class notes and some on the textbook. If you study the notes and his reviews and have 1/2 a brain you will get an A on the tests. The team simulation project was a bit confusing in the beginning but a good experience. Overall I would recommend this class and professor.
The tests where dumb, he would just take a picture from the slides and would ask what was missing from the picture, etc. I tried to study the vocabulary, make flashcards & read the book for hours, but I guess you only need to memorize the 100 slides he gives you for each exam. The project was not bad, RETRAIN your employees and you'll win!!!
Not that great of a professor. Tests were kind of confusing and his test reviews are a joke! Study power points and the summary of the chapters.
The class was interesting and the test were very straight forward. Make sure you review the material on the study guides the professor give out before the tests. Anyone who says the tests are difficult is clearly a below average student. The simulation was the best part of the class.
he is one of the best and most respected teachers at UH. although the material is a little difficult and you have to do work to do well and his lectures are a little boring, i would take him again if i could. would 10/10 recommend this class.
Class isn't mandatory. You have to buy a book (around $100) and read two chapters a week. No homework, just 4 non-cumulative tests over the chapters (aka no final). Some days will be completely online/at home so that's nice. There's also a group project but it's easy.
Extra credit offered by going to class. Exams are tough. I didn't like his lectures, feels like a monologue. Half in class / half online (some days there's no class to work on the homework). Homework are easy. One group project.
Very straightforward and respected professor. We only had 3 exams instead of 4 unlike others who have taken this class, but he still drops the lowest grade. The simulation grade is too lenient. My group did jack squat and we still managed to pull a B+ on the simulation grade. Don't know why this website says MKTG 3337 instead of MARK 3336 label.
His email was not given on the syllabus, therefore making it incredibly difficult to talk to him. He blatantly did not show up for class one day, without even telling anyone or apologizing. I was 7 minutes late to an exam, and the TA refused to let me take it, greatly impacting my grade.
There are 3 tests, multiple choice. I'd say thy r easy if you read th chapters on the book plus his lecture slides (focus on examples). Project is a simulation, is easy if you take your time to work on it.
This class was pretty easy! Keep up with quizzes and you should be fine. He had class every other Thursday. Test were a bit hard so make sure to really study slides. Get good group members for the simulation because you need to do well on it! Three test and lowest is dropped!
He offered up to 4 points on the overall grade for extra credit. 2 points from doing surveys and 2 points for showing up to class and answering some questions on a sheet of paper. The project is pretty easy as long as you know the basics and he grades really easy on the report. 3 tests worth 60% of your overall grade and he drops the lowest one.
Considering this was a Marketing class (I love marketing) I expected his lectures to be more interesting. His test are a bit specific, I would recommend to read the book but before the test see his review PowerPoint. One group project that isnt hard. NO FINAL :) Has opportunities for extra credit. Cant complain just wished he was more passionate.
His first exam is ridiculously hard, almost everyone fails but he makes the second and third exam easier and he drops one so that evens it out.
Prof does a nice job with lectures and the simulation is interesting. It is a really large class so there is not much room for interaction.
He has nice stories to add to his lectures and you don't want to skip because he gives extra credit opportunities. His first test is hard so I would suggest studying for that one the most, from there it gets easier every test. For the simulation I would train and buy more employees in the beginning.
Good professor. The exams were not super easy, however, he gives plenty of extra credit opportunities so it is not difficult to earn an A.
I think for an intro marketing class this class is a little too much, not exactly what I was expecting. The fact that this class bears no significance on my major might be a large reason why I didn't enjoy it, but even so, buying extra stuff to earn your grade is definitely a nice way to "market" a product aka simulation.
I took this class online & almost everyone in my section was confused 99% of the time due to the poor communication by the professor. Also, during Imelda he told students they were still responsible for taking the exam despite the flooding situation. Overall, this class isnt hard but the severe lack of communication makes keeping up difficult.
An incredibly uncooperative professor. You want your A? Do the assignments and study the powerpoints. You have an emergency and can't deal with the short time window to do the assignments or tests? UH needs to employ empathy and personality, not a powerpoint reading charlatan selling his kick-backed textbooks and software.
I took this class online this semester and I enjoyed it. He gave us the option to take the first exam online due to Imelda's storm, therefore that proves how understanding he can be with a serious issue. I studied the vocab and main concepts from the book watched his lectures and did the Dynamic Study Modules from the Ebook & have passed all exams.
Online course did not have groups for simulation assignment. The simulation assignment is really confusing/not clear at first. Exams are very specific so know vocabulary/text material. I bought the book but did not even read it, I only used it for assignments, definitions and for practice for the exams.
The first semester this course was offered online - not a clear format. Communication was lacking, most of the students were confused. No need to buy a textbook: watch lectures, do modules and study powerpoints. Pretty easy course overall, just a little difficult due to the confusion with what was expected.
easy class and the professor is really understanding.
Good professor. Annoying class. Clear grading criteria. If you want to not waste time and do well and get out, this class is for you.
Be sure to take prof ahearne for mktg3336. His class is very well organized and grading is fair.
Clear schedule and due dates. Everything you need is on the syllabus. Professor Ahearne is very responsive to emails.
I enjoyed his lectures throughout the year and received 100% on all classwork but slow grading on pitch project which is 30% of your final grade. The review he provided for the final did not help with the test material either, the final is 25% of your grade.
It is a very easy class. You have to do the quizzes which are from ten minute youtube video for homework. There is a final, which comes from the lectures which is also very easy. There is one group project and professor gives a month to do it, it is also easy.
Average class with usual work effort. Like every other professor, he follows the textbook like the Bible along with his lecture videos are recorded in 360p. He also isnt involved w/ students much. A majority of the boring work is handed off to his TAs. Overall, not a fun class and more of an nuisance than anything.
He was by all means a fine professor. Cool guy that seemed to care for students. We did not have any exams except the final exam, which was on lockdown browser. The final was a bit hard but doable.
Professor Ahearne is a good choice for this clas. However, him and his TAs take until the last minute to grade things and do so very slowly. His class was comprised of video and lecture quizzes due every week. One group project and a final. Despite its flaws, the class was easy with Prof Ahearne
Hws have assigned due dates. Only 1 final. Great lectures. Group Project is heavy but just be organized and this class is an easy A, best to take during covid and online!!
He's honestly a straightforward professor that doesn't really care about his students because his classes are so big. Make sure to keep up every assignment and exam because he won't give you any chance to help your grade.
The class is overall easy, just the test were difficult (on locker down browser). Be aware that there are due dates on bothThursday and Monday. Video quiz every week, 5 questions and super easy (taken on blackboard) . Lecture quiz every other week, 15 questions pretty easy (taken on blackboard). Class is easy but the 2 test he gives are difficult.
Apparently this class use to just have one exam, now he does a midterm (9 chpts in about 4 wks) and a final. Exams are most of your grade and on lockdown, so don't take if you're not a great test taker, it murdered my 4.0 GPA. Multiple quizzes every week. It's WAY too much for INTRO to marketing. All exams fell on same week as all other classes.
Uses lockdown browser for midterm and final, about 10 chapters a piece. Has many quizzes, lowest 2 are dropped. There is a simulation that was very simple if you listen to the TA. Offers 3 chances for 5% extra credit and 2% extra credit on your final grade. Anyone who gives Professor Ahearne a bad rating probably did not take the class seriously.
Easy class. He gives extra credits when you do the surveys. He also drop the lowest quiz. Tests are just fine when you are prepared just before 1-2 weeks ahead. Do not need to purchase book to get an A. His lectures also included some guests speaking, quite interesting, even not in Marketing major
This class had a midterm and a final, with both administered using a lockdown browser. Weekly quizzes on the lecture and application videos were very simple and open book. The lectures were short and very helpful. I would suggest the class for anyone in the business school. Students complaining that the course is hard are poor students.
The only way to really study for exams is to memorize the textbook. Exams are monitored. Lectures aren't really useful or engaging since they only cover a portion of the textbook. Exams cover extremely specific textbook information as well as guest speaker interview info. Overall very disengaging class.
I haven't been disappointed in a while, and I really thought that my life was going uphill, then I took this class with the style of teaching from this professor and the girl professor. Don't understand why they gotta preach about marketing as if it is a bible.
I really thought this was going to be a good year but no because this professor was the one thing that just had to ruin my year. The lectures are not useful whatsoever, the exams are textbook heavy so what is the point of these lectures if they are not going to help up whatsoever, he rarely shows up for class. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
I took an online class and there are due date reminders. There will be a group project that accounts for a major part of your grade scale. Tests are fine if you are well-prepared but really tricky. My first 2 tests are solely B. There are also assignments on Packback which is no different from blackboard discussion board, post and reply.
The class included three tests that were all pretty straight forward. He also has a team selling project that is a little stressful but easy to complete. Lots of extra credit opportunities and interesting video lectures.
Great class, was not hard to follow at all, instructions were clear at all times. He gave out multiple extra credit opportunities. Just make sure to do all your homework and be on top of the projects and you'll be fine.
The professor teaches & explains the material well. To do well, you have to keep up with the class by watching his lecture videos & actually learn the material he explains. The class is straightforward as long as you keep up. There is semester SPIN project, 3 tests, weekly open note quizzes & 4 packback assignments. Must study for tests!
This class is very well organized, with weekly lecture quizzes, a project, and three exams. The professor gives lots of updates and makes sure the class is aware of all assignments. His lecture videos are well done and easy to follow. Make sure you get the textbook since there are also questions on the tests and quizzes from the textbook.
Ahearne is a world renowned researcher in Sales and will absolutely take the time to explain things if you need help. Make sure to study for exams and DONT SLACK ON THE GROUP PROJECT! You procrastinate and you WILL FAIL! The lectures usually include guest speakers from big companies. If you're not going into Sales, at least you can gain connections
This class was harder than what I've heard. There is a lot of reading required and video lectures. The exams, and quizzes are okay. I know some students who said the simulation is the worst part, but it is pretty easy imo.
Participated in the hybrid (Monday/Wednesday) class. This course consists of 15 chapter quizzes, 4 short essays, an individual sales presentation, and 2 group projects. Participation for assignments/projects are critical to your grade, but showing up for class is not. Only purchase NEEDED is the $25 PackBack subscription. EASY A!!
Took his online asych. class. Great professor- he makes his lectures really interesting to watch, and his exams are based on the material he covers in the course, so it's easy to make a good grade if you pay attention. Group semester project is not super hard. HE DOES NOT ACCEPT LATE WORK. $25 PackBack subscription required.
You gets lots of extra credit opportunities, which can make up for low test grades. Exams are with lockdown browser and are kinda hard imo. Don't buy the textbook, it's a waste of money. Just use the previous version. Class is organized though, but I thought it was more of a nuisance than anything with the group project. Overall OK class.
run.. Don't do this to your GPA.. this is my biggest mistake.. the exam was very hard and the worst part is the simulations. however, the class is very well structured and the reminders are updated weekly. but don't do this to yourself.
The class is very structured and easy to follow. I like the simulation assignments because he lets you do them as many times as you want to get a good grade. The tests are not hard if you watch his lectures.
Professor Ahearne's teaching is remarkable. Engaging lectures, interactive role plays, and a focus on personal growth makes him an exceptional educator. Highly recommended! Chapter 1-15 quizzes, role play and a project. Plenty of extra credit opportunity. No one should have a problem with this professor he is amazing. Put in the work you'll pass.
Extremely insensitive professor. He would not set reminders for assignments or exams, which caused half the class to miss an exam. When confronted with the issue he responded with "Refer to the syllabus" and "Next time be more aware". He would post an exam on a Saturday, wouldn't tell anyone, and close it that same day. I luckily saw it at 10 pm.
The class was very structured and easy to follow. The quizzes and exams were very straightforward as long as you watched the lectures. There were lots of extra credit opportunities given in the class that made it easy to get a good grade.
I was disappointed at the very beginning, signing up for this course "Asynchronous online" was very misleading Once class started, professor was requiring mandatory zoom calls Mondays and Wednesday, as well deadlines on those days only, except for test. Additional, I had to purchase a second online program in order to pass the class. He didn't care
Professor Ahearne is great. The instructions for each assignment are super clear and he even provides videos that give you all the answers to the quizzes. There are lots of assignment but nothing is actually hard. You get lots of extra credit. As long as you pay attention to the due dates and follow the instructions you can easily get an A.
Professor Ahearne is a great professor who really knows what he's talking about. If you are interested in sales, his personal selling class will inspire you. Online class included an "ai simulation" of the sales process from beginning to end. You are able to try as many times for the grade you'd like which is nice. Study lectures and you'll succeed
Great class. I would suggest this professor.
He teaches this class in a way that is easily understood, using lectures and videos. It is my favorite marketing/selling class. In addition, he is easy to reach if any student needs help.
The class is super easy, the professor not so much... do what you will with that info
Easy asynch class, professor teaches through videos. Lots of assignments, but are relatively easy. You do have to pay to access Second Nature, though which is around $30 to $40 (I forgot). The tests can be studied day of + AI interviews give you feedback on exactly what to say. The professor is nice, he knows his stuff and explains well.
