had him for great books... he is pretty awesome and the class discussions are really interesting. Im not sure how he figures his grading btu I do know participation is huge! so show up and participate. Hes pretty great so you should definitly take him... but ONLY if you like reading- c'mon people its great books!
Dr. Amey is THE best professor I have ever had, despite getting a C in his class. I fully acknowledge I earned a C and nothing higher. He makes the books he teaches relevant to everyone, and encourages us to ask questions. And to go outside our comfort zone to learn about other cultures/faiths. Do your work = get an A.
A remarkably difficult professor. Gives lots of work. If you have a brain and show up to every class you will pass...it isn't rocket science, but he sure is challenging. At least he trashes religion.
Professor is tough, but fair. His expectations are clear. I found the course fun and informative, and would gladly take another course taught by him.
Professor Amey is THE BEST teacher I have ever had. He makes learning fun and interesting. My semester with him flew by so quickly. He is interested in each and every one of his students and does his best to help everyone. Just do the readings, participate, and get your assignments in on time and you'll pass.
If you want an easy A, then this class isn't for you. However, if you want to learn to write professionally then I would highly recommend this class. Also, this class is great for those who major in law. He teaches you how to argue both sides of a concept. I would honestly say that he takes you out of your comfort zone. His class was interesting.
He is an amazing but challenging professor who really knows his subject. His texts were all highly interesting. If you really want to learn something, take him. Don't take him if you're just okay with writing and you're looking for an easy A.
Very good and interesting teacher, the topics he presented were controversial and fun to discuss. you'll need to work really hard to get a good grade in this class, this is not an easy A
Second class with him. Not an easy A. His lectures are conversational but VERY interesting. Text book is used often when writing. He assigns a min of 3 essays per sems. (3-8 pgs) Very understanding with personal conflicts. Tough/picky grader. But, has reason because he knows his subjects/texts VERY well.
Amazing professor! Absolutely loved his class and the discussions. He won't give you a good grade on a paper where it's obvious that it only took you an hour to write it. But if you try and put effort into your writing, he will reward it. Would highly recommend him!
Let me begin with saying that Dr.Amey is great. He's fun, enthusiastic and passionate about what he is teaching. The class requires A LOT of work: tons of reading, three 5 page essays+cumulative final. He's a tough grader when it comes to essays, but gives 5 extra points for going to NOVA writing center. The class focuses on fantasy and philosophy.
Let me begin with saying that Dr. Amey is great. One of the greatest and the smartest individuals I have ever met in my life. Inspirational and a great friend.
Covers the bases of literature concepts and terms very well. Interesting literature choices. However, grades on his personal biases. Engages the class in discussions, which he judges (without empirical evidence) the validity of student opinion on subjective matter. Remember, this is his lit class so Grading is subject to his opinion on the topic.
This professor is terrible in explaining things. I really do not recommend this professor to anyone. He is a very hard grader because he wants everyone to be the same level as him. Terrible.
First, I was really scared of him, but he is a really nice person. He is an excellent instructor. He always gives chances, always there for help. Beside he is a very respectful, he respects his students. also he is really funny. The course is about Harry Potter books, although I never read them, but I'm enjoying the class and his way of teaching.
Interesting person, lots of ideas, personable, knowledgeable but lightweight, tenuous conclusions. Shows genuine respect for students' comments. Literature class, but books are not used in class. Not very disciplined. Uneven mix of cutesiness and scholarly references.. Favorite phrase, used two or three times each day, is "I would argue that...."
He knows his subject but expects students to know what he knows. He wants us to understand and know each n every theme of 4 novels and 1 play he gives us during semester. Come on! he read them 20 times so how can we be as perfect as him. IN SHORT HE IS GOOD TEACHER BUT HARD TO SURVIVE WITH. TAKE HIM IF YOU LIKE TO READ.
This was not an easy A, and this was probably the hardest English class I have ever taken just because I'm not a fan of writing essays. However, he does provide lots of opportunities for extra credit, I HIGHLY recommend that you do all of them if you want a good grade. There are no tests, only three essays, a final presentation, and final essay.
This is not an easy A folks! I've always been a horrible essay writer and honestly this class didnt help improve my skills. We were always assigned some type of argumenative essay, they were usually a minimum of 5 pages and my experience plus this class did not mix lol He did have interesting class discussions but I wish it would help me improve.
Class should be titled "anti christianity 101". He makes it clear that he doesn't believe any religion. Forces class to read many short stories and novels that belittle and mock Christianity. Then discuss those topics in class. He's turned what should be a varied literature class into something that revolves around his personal religious stance.
Professor Amey is a good guy. Extremely polite and is there to help you when you need it. However, he is sort of a hard grader and you really have to work for your paper. Putting together a paper that was written in just a few hours won't fly. I still got a lot out of this class and would take him again.
He's a pretty good teacher but he will not remind you of assignments so if you aren't careful, you'll be caught off guard.
The professor knows his material, but he's disorganized.
He's kind of a tough grader but gave us opportunities to redo most assignments for a better grade. You will learn a lot from him. Very interesting Lectures. Not an easyA but would totally take another class with him.
Professor Amey is a solid professor. He is very passionate about writing and although he is demanding (attendance and punctuality) he is willing to help students better understand the writing process. His class comes with a wealth of reading on political and social topics so prepare to be well-read (i.e. woke) at the conclusion of his course.
Professor Amey gives a lot of work and doesn't give it out clearly. He waits till the last minute to clear things up but if you like a class with a lot of homework then take his class. He does grade harshly though beware.
This prof should be teaching in Harvard or Yale. NOVA is lucky to have him. He teaches at whole another level. Take advantage of this opportunity and take him - you will learn SO much. He has unique background and he is truly passionate about literature and language. We had a lot to read, not so much to write. Group projects are fun. Take him.
He is a professor that has his own thoughts and teaches his way. He is a tough grader and does not tell you when things are due or if there are assignments during that week. He will surprise you so you'll need to keep up with everything.
I had him for ENG111 and to me, I felt like he thought he was teaching a philosophy class, not an english class. In all honesty, I didn't really learn that much from the way he taught. The english classes I took in high school taught me more than his class did. I wish I would've taken someone else who actually taught english not philosophy
He is the worst professor to have your first year experiencing college. When you email him with an emergency for a reason to miss a class, he doesnt care and marks you not excused and makes your grade go down. Getting one bad grade drops you from an A to an F and there is no way to make it up. I would never recommend him, not even on my worst enemy
He is an extremely tough grader. It's impossible to get an A on essays. I don't recommend him to anyone else. EVER.
I wouldn't recommend that you take his class. You will never get an email back from him. You are not going to learn anything anything in his class. There is no extra credit. A lot of papers.
Has no respect for any of his students and you get graded based off if he likes you or not also you won't get higher then a b in his class if your lucky
Make sure you show up to class ready to participate, take quizzes on the books you're supposed to read, and write essay's. You can re-do up to three essay's. His lectures are interesting mostly but he is an atheist. Most of his views on religion will focus on that especially in choice of books
Amazing professor. Thought provoking, meaningful assignments. Great feedback. Multiple opportunities to improve your grade. Made class interesting and really inclusive. Loved this class! If you fail, it is definitely your fault.
I am a good student and I write well, and I couldn't get higher than a B in his class. I did all of the things that he told us to do in class and ended up with a C in his class. Tbh, I really didn't learn a lot from his class. Very disappointed with this experience.
Prof. Michael Amey is by far the worst prof I've had in my life!!! If you do end up taking him make sure you live in the writing center because he deducts points easily.
I took this class, because I didn't want to take ENG 112; even though I got an A in ENG 111. I read his reviews and most of them were true. He expects you to read all of the ''textbooks" from the syllabus. Therefore, to do well, make sure you keep up with all of the readings on the books, short stories or poems. There will be many pop quizzes.
If you work, have bills, a family to take care of and take other classes then this class will dry your soul. Both my parents have masters degrees in English so they helped me with my work and I still got bad grades. He is hyper critical over subjective topics. As a professor I give him an f. If you want an A you should stroke his ego.
Prof. Amey is an amazing and passionate professor. He does not appreciate slackers, so don't be one. Quizzes are given at the beginning of the class as attendance so you MUST NOT BE LATE or else you will be marked absent and fail his class. The quizzes are very very short and straight from the readings. One 3-5 page essay and one 5-8 page essay.
Always arrive early. He has very interesting and important topics in each lecture but can be presented as bland. There is a lot of reading about very interesting topics but the writing itself is also bland and blunt.
PASSING AMEY'S ENG125 CLASS- TIPS You MUST not skip class or come in late . He gives short quizzes on the readings at the beginning of the class. Take notes in class. He allows students to open their notes during final exam-if u dont take notes, u will be screwed ! lol Be a LOVER of Analyzing Novels . It's Such an interesting class!
I loved Professor Amey's class-- he's not easy but he is exceptionally interesting! We talked about really deep issues such as religion, faith, and fantasy. He was clearly very passionate about the subject, so sometimes would get off topic about the lecture but it was still fascinating! Gives you a chance to re-write all papers for a higher grade.
He gives great lectures. you do have to read a lot but the in class discussions are actually fun. He is open minded and talks about a lot of stuffs. He also gives a second chance to rewrite your essays.
he gives us alot of work
He he very nice and will take time to talk to you personally if you need it. Gives extra credit on the essay if you viste writing center and on the tests, and on the quizs, lets u redo ur essay and final is an open note , just read ur books and you will pass.
There are five essays and a presentation at the end of the semester. If you put in effort and show up you will do fine. He gives pop quizzes in the beginning of class when he assigns readings, so pay attention to the syllabus. He also allows you to resubmit your essays so you can get a higher grade.
I took ENG 125 with him and he is very passionate about what he does. His lectures are not very good, and I say this because he talks about sensitive subjects without regard for his students. at times it felt like he was trying to convince us there was no GOD. other than that he is an okay professor.
Dr. Amey is an outstanding lecturer that makes you re-think how you analyze assigned readings/videos. Be prepared to NOT be given many reminders for assignment due dates. He will expect you to keep up with the syllabus. My biggest critique is that his lectures, while highly interesting, can get off track and not be relevant to the assignments.
Instead of homework, it's just endless pop quizzes so if you don't remember everything you read, prepare to take a hit to your grade. When it comes to the essays, he is extremely biased. I've gotten B's and above on all my essays and papers for other classes. His class, never got higher than a 75. His class is practically made to tank your GPA.
Prof. Amey requires a lot of reading, but his lectures are interesting, and he tries to get you to think
I took ENG 125, but unlike the last student I didn't think it was that bad. There were lots of quizzes, but there was extra credit on each quiz. Also, you got extra credit for going to the writing center with your essay, and the final exam is open notes. Do the readings and essays and you should be fine.
I won't lie - this was a hard class. Mr. Amey was interesting, though, and I liked his choice of readings. I really liked "Kindred" and "The Babadook".
Definitely a hard class. There are five essays in the class. I did learn a lot, though, and the teacher gave lots of feedback and allowed us to rewrite our essays for higher grades. We also got extra credit for going to the writing center.
Great professor. He gives you feedback on your essays and will let you resubmit for a better grade. Assigns a lot of interesting readings and is passionate about the subject. Final exam is open notebook.
BEST PROFESSOR FOR ENGLISH!!, super super chill. You can truly see his passion for his lectures, his lectures are AMAZING (English is boring!) but he makes it very interesting. We had pop quizzes every other class, but they were super easy just as long as you read the books. I would def take him again if I had the opportunity
Professor Amey is a great professor. I took my ENG-112 with him and I really learned from him. His class is supper fun and interactive. He consider extra credits for each paper and give you chance to revise your essay. I really enjoyed his class and my writing improved dramatically.
The class itself is very interesting and I enjoyed the material for the most part, lots of reading and conversation which I enjoy. Warning: Being late will cost you the entire semester. Better hope you never get caught in traffic, because your lateness equals an absence. You get very few chances before he fails you for the semester.
A very nice professor. However is very disorganized and will not tell you about readings or homework which normally you will have a quiz on the day after. Some classes are lecture heavy and can get boring and off topic.
His class is thought provoking and organized. He encourages you, but he does not coddle you. Initially, the subject matter may not always be something you agree with, but once you understand the purpose of the exercise it challenges your intellect and forces you to clearly articulate your perspective. The power to get an "A" is in your hands.
Be aware of what you're citing, he counts the smallest things as "plagiarism".
His lectures are interesting, but that's about it. He's a tough grader and He's not clear with his grading and directions to an essay. He WILL give you a 0 if you do not cite absolutely everything correctly, so beware. If you're late to class, even for a minute, it counts as an absence. He's too strict and expects a lot.
If you ever make the mistake of choosing him for an english class just simply switch the professor. let me tell you I have had my share of not so great teachers because I went to a public school but this guy right here takes the pie. As soon as you walk into the classroom you can feel his very draining energy and it really ruins your day.
This professor is by far the worst I've had. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR HIS CLASS PERIODTTTTT!! First of all, he is sooo annoying about being late LITERALLY EVEN FOR ONE MINUTE. I come in a minute late and marked absent because "he's already taken attendance" He is also the worst grader EVER!! DO NOT SIGN UP FELLOW STUDENTS
Don't take this professor. He's nice and everything but I hate the fact that he doesn't give clear instructions. Literally did not learn anything from his class. Such a waste of time! Should've dropped his class a long time ago...
This Professor is cool in his choices of assignments, even watched a couple of movies during class. BUT he is an extemelyyyy tough grader and would even mark you ABSENT for being a minute late. He's a challenge, and has high expectations.
I was heartbroken that none of his other courses would cover what I needed to transfer. He keeps English super interesting. There's a reasonable amount of homework and a few papers. Reading is CRUCIAL. I got my books for free on youtube and I finished the novels weeks ahead. Lectures are just bouncing ideas off of each other, really enlightening.
Harsh grader on papers, also be sure to cite EVERYTHING and have it done properly if you want to pass. If you do not you will be considered to have plagiarized and will fail the paper and possibly the class. Plenty of reading to do as well.
He is a very nice and caring person, but that does not translate into his teaching. He is very tough on grading assignments and expects PERFECT writing on essays. And there's a lot of essays including a lot of readings. It is very hard to please him when it comes to essays. If you see him on your course list RUN AWAY.
FIRST YEAR STUDENT: " Based on what I have seen of your writing, I do not think you should be in this class. You would be better served in an ENF class for the moment. There are serious problems with your writing that make me think that you will not be able to earn the grade you need for this class. You may wish to consider withdrawing"
The class will hurt you mentally if you see the grades that you earn on essays. He will give you unexpected bad grades on essays you either thought you did good or you thought put enough effort for a decent essay. Overall, he grades your essays harshly and you might fail the class if your essays are 100% perfect. Don't take him theres better profs.
run .. he's a extremely hard grader. If your essay's are good, they're probably not. Double read it; matter of fact triple read it !!
Run away dont make the mistake I did thinking during a pandemic he wouldve been a little more laid back he was such a tough grader expected so much I could already imagine how bad he mustve been during regular school he will literally fail you for not citing one source and wont let you make it up and put you on academic probation avoid him!!!!
This guy could put a brick wall to sleep. He was very enthusiastic about the material and that hurt me and my peers' ability to have a good education. Also, he emphasize material that was not importan and did the exact opposite for the material that was. Also, he was a very harsh grader. Beware, avoid this class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Probably the only English class I would ever say was fun! In this class we got to the chance to be creative in our writing. Get to watch movies, and write about them. Doesn't push political beliefs, unlike a lot of English teachers at NVCC. Willing to help if you are willing to ask. He is also very understandable and caring.
The only thing good about professor Amey is that he is extremely good looking. He is terrible grader and is harsh. He gives out the hardest papers and you wont recieve a grade higher than a C. If you want a good looking hard teacher, take him
Don't take this guy. He's very vague on what to do for essays and if you don't cite your sources correctly don't expect more than a 65% on your essay. It can be the tiniest mistake and he'll take away like 10-15 points.
WORST TEACHER EVER!!!! Never ever ever choose this professor. He failed half of the class on the spot. He doesnt go out his way to help you or even care about you at all. He gives you 0 for misspelling words or even not adding a question mark in your paper which is ridiculous. Save your self from failing!!! ( he failed me btw)
This is the hardest class ever. Do not take this class!! The coursework is very heavy, essay due almost every week, and the final is very long. Teacher is a very harsh and strict grader
He makes you feel like crap about everything. He doesnt deserve to be a professor at all. Hes not understanding and he must people down for not wrtiting the way he wants you to. AWFUL PROFESSOR!!!!
Good professor ethically, hes a nice guy and friendly. Tough tough grader though. If youre going to take this class with prof Amey be sure to cite every single thing and follow instructions or else he will give you a zero.
^For example, I got a 0 on my essay all because apparently there was a sentence in my essay that was plagiarized and I thought of that sentence from my head. He didnt care to speak with me until I made the effort to email him to speak virtually. He won't believe me regardless of what I say. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF FROM HIM.
One of the biggest mistakes I have ever made this past semester was choosing this professor. I don't respect him as a professor at all. He is very strict on plagiarism and citing sources. It doesnt matter if you cite a source incorrectly or accidentally plagiarize a sentence. He will still give you a 0 no matter what happens.
Professor Amey is kind, caring, and just a really good guy. He is very understanding of his students' needs and lives outside of school, and I couldn't be more grateful to have taken part in his class.
He's a good professor, gives you an option to redo your work to get a higher grade. You do need to put in work on your papers. He isn't the toughest grader but he does give you what you deserve. He gives good feedback on what or where you need to improve. Id take him again.
I am shocked by the numbe of bad reviews. Please not that every class you must do your work to pass. Prof. Amey is the best and makes sure to provide the best feedback to you. He makes sure that we learn the material well. He is a great grader. Come to class, do the work, and pass. The work is not difficult. Please do not plagiar anything.
Never came across a horrible professor as him. His grading is tougher than sand paper. He expects you to be the best writer in the nation considering how harsh his grading was. Also, his lectures could put any person to sleep he seemed enthusiastic about his job but nobody was entertained by his lectures. Horrible professor pls dont take him.
All in all, Professor Amey made me a better writer! I was scared to take him at first because most of his ratings here are horrible. But after taking his class, I can confidently say that he made me a better writer. Just put the work in, ask for his help (he's super nice and helpful!), and just do your very best in this class, you won't regret it.
If you make one error on your essay then he will easily give you a 60-70. He is the most toughest grader ever which is unfair because not everyone is a perfect writer. Do not take him if you want an A or B pick a better professor.
I'm not sure why most of these ratings are very low, if you follow his grading criteria his essays and assignments are very easy. He allows extra credit if you go to tutor. com and allows you to re write your essay if you got less then an 85. Do your work, cite and don't plagiarize. Easy A.
I took this professor to "challenge" my writing, and it wasn't that bad! He was very kind and funny. He always gave thorough feedback and you had a week to turn in any assignment for full credit. He truly made me a better writer! Folks complaining about plagiarism must understand that citing sources is the bare minimum in college-level English.
I enjoyed having Prof Amey for Eng111. I always looked forward to going to class! He genuinely has a passion for teaching and is enthusiastic. The lectures were never boring. He honestly made me a better writer! Just put in the work and it can definitely be an easy a-b.
He gave me 0 for 1 sentence saying it's plagiarized.
Prof. Amey is a very clear and great teacher! He is very passionate about his work and will help you with whatever!
I enjoyed his class but I did not like him. Essays are ridiculous. Especially the last essay which is six pages long. Students are just enrolled in English to get the credit, not to become professional writer! An absolute disappointment.
RUN AWAY FROM THIS PROFF!!!!!!!! THIS IS THE WORST PROF I have taken in nova he does not teach well enough and expects you to write a 6 pages essay which he doesnt even read it...
Amey's lectures have been my favorite at NOVA. He's a cool guy who gives great feedback that has really improved my writing and he's very knowledgeable about pop culture and social issues. He tends to go off-topic but it's always interesting. I wouldn't recommend him if you want an easy A, but other comments exaggerate the level of difficulty.
It's an English class, lots of papers and purchase/reading of 2 books to write papers on. He always leaves feedback and follows up with everyone in class through half of the term to go over grades and how to improve. Final paper was very easy as he gives you the choice of picking what to write about. If you failed this class its due to laziness.
He's very easy going but he does expect the very best on every assignment
I'm not too fond of this class. He talks a lot; he has that "white guy" activist attitude, and a lot of his assignments are hard to understand. He makes you handwrite often and gives you little time to complete stuff. He is late to assign some things, and he is a harsh grader... he teaches at a community college. Calm down. 0/10 would take again.
I personally don't think this class was hard. Professor Amey was great. Gives a lot of feedback on every assignment and also gives the opportunity to revise it to get a better grade. If you are good at citing source you will do fine. Just get the homework done on time.
The worst prof ever I would never recommend him.
DON'T TAKE HIM. I saw the rating before enrolling because I didn't have a choice due to my conflicting schedule. When it came to my final essay grading which he read numerous times but gave me an F for not quoting a sentence last minute. He thinks we want to become writers, he can barely spell. attendance doesn't count towards grades.
He's strict but fair. his Zoom classes are repetitive. While not too hard, there's not enough homework to help practice what you've learn, you end up relying too much on essays. It'd be better if there were more homework to reinforce the lessons before writing essays, and beware of the grade weigh of research essays that's what kills grades.
He was great! He was very lenient with submission of the essays/assignments(except the final) he doesn't close them on canvas. I usually turned mine in a bit late. 4 essays total, last one being 6 pages which he talks about on the first day. He gave great feedback and chance for resubmission. He was very clear on what he wanted to see on the essay.
He is great at teaching and giving feedback. He is somewhat politically left-leaning, but he is respectful about it. He goes over what plagiarism is a million times throughout the semester. He is very friendly, so much that he takes 15-20 minutes just to take attendance by asking everyone how there weekend was.
I loved professor Amey, he was just amazing. If you failed any of his classes its on you. He is very understanding and fairly light on assignments. Funny and caring, his class was something I looked forward to even though I dont like English. I wish every professor were like him.
great teacher he likes to check in with his students. a lot of critical writing and he wants you be in as most detail as you can in the essays. he gives good feedback and wants you to improve as much as you can. attendance is very mandatory as more than 4 absences can give you an automatic failure in the class.
Prof Amey is the best instructor I've had at Nova. He cares about the wellbeing of his students and respects all. His grading is fair, and assignments are straightforward. He's very socially aware and compassionate. His lectures are truly inspiring, I look forward to his class. You can turn assignments in up to a week late for full credit.
It often seems like Professor Amey is more interested in being a writer than in actually supporting students' growth. I received a 0 on an essay simply because I forgot to quote a sentence, while a classmate who used AI got an 80%. unfair in grading.I would strongly recommend do not take a class with him don't waste your whole semester.
Professor Amey is a great person, but not the best instructor. He is a very strict grader, and will mark you down for minimal things. It is very difficult to reach him outside of class. He is extremely critical of students writing, often to the point where it's counterproductive. I love his beliefs but will not take this class again!!!
Don't do it.
Professor Amey is great! He is very understanding, patient, and treats all his students equally. He provides great feedback and makes sure you are prepared for the class. Every time he takes attendance he always asks each student how they are doing and how was there week! Professor Amey is amazing so I definity recommend!
Gave personalized, detailed feedback on every assignment so you were really able to learn. Nice guy who is interested in students doing well, but you gotta make an effort. Apparently tough on plagiarism and AI but honestly that should be any professor. Remember to edit your essay and write more than one draft and you'll be fine.
Prof. Amey can be strict but fair. His classes may feel repetitive, but he provides valuable feedback. For best results, stay engaged, use unstuck ai alongside the coursework, and don't rely too heavily on essays.
Great professor truly! He gives the most detailed feedback, reads your paper very accurately trying to understand everything that you're writing, may be a tough grader but that's for good only because he gives a chance to resubmit and grade improves immediately. For me it was easy to get A. TAKE HIS CLASSES!!!!
Very supportive, tries to help everyone. Just make sure you are ready for class discussions about the books that are required. He is very kind and funny, I have taken his classes 2 times and never regretted. Great professor. You can easily get A's on papers, just make sure you know what you are writing about :)
Don't believe what you read. As long as you don't commit plagiarism or use AI you'll pass the course. The course is work heavy so stay on top of the assignments but most are completion so just do them on time. He gives detailed feedback on essays and allows revisions. There are a few books and movies you'll have to watch as well.
Professor Amey is knowledgeable, and the lectures are interesting, but he isn't very flexible or understanding if students struggle in his class. If you're having a hard semester and might need accommodations or support, just be prepared for a lack of leniency. That said, if you stay on top of everything the whole semester, you'll probably be fine.
Professor Amey was very unfair towards me and doesn't listen to his students, and doesn't listen to reason and has a passive aggressive attitude for no reason. I had a situation that happened and when I went to talk to him he was very unprofessional and it was very frustrating. he is also very tough when it comes to grading.
I like Amey as a person, not a Professor. Do not take one of his classes if you are sensitive! All his classes are heavy on politics, social issues, racism, r@#&, slavery, ect. We were forced to watch the 13th documentary, dead bodies, graphic imagery. Classmates used AI to write papers, we had to hand write future essays in class by hand.
Professor Amey is a character for sure. If you love dragons and dragons, or anything fantasy, he will eat that up, and this is the class for you; on the other hand, if you're not an avid movie/TV show/video game enjoyer, you will have absolutely no common ground with this guy, and the class will become a struggle of trying to understand him.
Professor Amey was very honest from the start. He is a tough grader, and you will most likely hear that from him. Honestly if you actually put in the effort, it is not a hard class at all. You do a diagnostic essay to see if you'd do well in his class, and that's great because if you do poorly you won't' have to waste money on that class.
Not that bad at all, He for sure does not like AI so don't bother using it. Use your brain! Personally, I didn't like his topics, but they weren't too bad. As long as you try & turn in your homework you will be fine. He is very lenient when it comes to turning work, tough grader but fair, will give great feedback if you turn in your work on time.
Class is not bad… but the professor is not helpful.
